It is rare these days to find a wine bar run by the winemaker himself, proudly showcasing his own exceptional wines from WA and crafted with a genuine, organic approach. Sam is an absolute delight and passionate, knowledgeable. You don’t just enjoy incredible wine here, you learn as you sip :-)

Melbourne’s best hidden secret. So few places like this exist anymore where the wine, food and service is genuine. The wine here is absolutely superb. The service is exceptional. Sam is just an all round lovely guy and takes such good care of his customers. If you are passionate about wine and great hospitality you’ve come to the right place!

Really cool and creative White Russian! It’s evident that the owner takes great pride and passion in his craft :) I would definitely recommend this place!!

I accidentally deleted my review after my first visit of the place- but here's attempt number two after visit number two! 100% an amazing place to visit again, both times around- the owner is lovely, the venue is lovely, and the drinks are lovely! The owner takes so much pride in what he does, from the drink making, to the customer service, to everything in between. He makes an absolutely amazing negroni (and even a gin and tonic tastes better!), and is always keen on feedback to keep improving things! The take on the White Russian is absolutely divine, and the fact that there's food choices makes it all the more better! Last time we had the wild boar sausage roll- and this time was no different! The only change is that this time he had takeaway containers, whereas last time when he was taken by surprise for a take away order, he went above and beyond in ensuring an appropriate receptacle for my pastry! They also have a venison and red wine pie, or a goat curry pie; both of which look utterly divine! Definitely will be back again and again, for the drinks, for the food, for the venue, and for the hospitality! Thanks so much!!

I’ve just read a review that said the owner was humble, and then I read one that said the owner was proud. Outside of Bar Gloria those would typically be contradictory statements. But what we have in Sam is healthy amount of self worth and an almost militant rejection of arrogance in all its forms. And that’s pretty special innit. I’ve nothing to say on the product as it speaks for itself.

Such incredible product. Bar Gloria is passionate, authentic and environmental. Sam has created such a lovely space, if you want delicious wine, with a European aesthetic, bar Gloria is your place.

The food is SO delish. Wine is very reasonably priced and some rare finds. Service is humble and friendly, and it’s a very cosy atmosphere. A great Melbourne find ! Cheers!!
