Bar Harbor Acadia Cottage Rentals

Had a WONDERFUL experience with BHACR. We had a weeklong stay at the “Ledges”. The rental was even prettier in person than in the pictures. It was extremely clean, well equipped with everything you’d ever need, from board games to bakeware. The staff at BHACR are incredibly responsive and helpful. Five stars and we’ll be renting again next year.

We have rented from BHACR for over ten years and at 7-8 different cottages. The rentals have always met expectations, and the agency has demonstrated a caring-ness that you don’t often find in the vacation rental business. The owner Rebecca has a really solid set of ethics, and that permeates BHACR. If things aren’t right with the rental, the agency has no problem taking the renters’ side of things, and will do what it takes to correct the situation. (Even if it means reading the owner the riot act.) This is not common in the industry, and sets them apart.

I stayed at a cottage, Harborside Summer, managed by this group May 18-25, 2024. We had a great experience. Their staff was quick to reply to our initial inquiries, suggest open homes when we were looking that fit our needs & settle the agreement and payment. Upon arrival the house was very nice and lived up to the listing with everything provided that was stated. Harborside Summer was a charming cottage on Southwest Harbor. We absolutely loved our time in this home. We didn’t have any issues during our stay where we needed to contact the owner or management. We just received our full security deposit back as well. I’d highly recommend this company for your stay in Acadia!

I contacted BHACR in 2022 to book a reservation for my group the following year. It was a great experience! The people at BHACR were quickly responsive to our questions and the several changes I had to our reservation. This made coordinating with my large group much easier! Next time I am planning a Bar Harbor trip I would love to contact them again. We stayed at Brightholme in Bar Harbor and my friends loved the location and home. It accommodated our large group easily and is a beautiful residence. We also cooked a few family-style dinners here and the kitchen had everything we needed. It is a short walk to many cafes, restaurants, and bars and the shore! It is a short drive to many hiking spots and Cadillac, as well.

We had a wonderful experience renting from Bar Harbor Acadia Cottage Rentals. The location of our rental was great, with access to Acadia and Bar Harbor within a 10 - 20 minute drive and the outlying areas within a 30 minute drive. We stayed in "Acadia Beach Walk A". The rental itself was clean and comfortable. It was a perfect amount of room for my wife and I, and our dog had plenty of room too. I would highly recommend staying with this company if you are vacationing around the Acadia area!

I haven't stayed at my cottage just yet but I will update when we do. I had a slightly complicated situation where we were planning to stay in Maine a week because I wanted to spend some time hiking with my sister and a friend. Because of miscommunication possibly on my part there was a small issue. However this company is a great and honest company and I will be happy to update more once our stay is complete. Thank you for being an honest company

The Bar Harbor/Acadia Weekly Cottage Vacation Rentals staff were exceptional. When I arrived, they made me feel welcome and went out of their way to ensure my stay was as enjoyable as possible. They were always available to answer any questions and provided valuable insights and recommendations for things to do and see in the area. They were also incredibly helpful in providing information about the cottage and its amenities and were always quick to respond to any requests or concerns. I appreciate how they were always willing to go above and beyond to ensure that I had everything I needed for a comfortable and memorable stay. In addition, I was impressed by their knowledge of the local area, which helped me make the most of my vacation. Finally, they made the whole process very easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend these vacation rentals, especially the quality of service provided by their staff.

We arrived on a Saturday around 9pm for a one-week stay. Upon arrival, we found a sign on the dishwasher informing us that it was not usable. Given that checkout time for the previous guests occurred at 10am, there was definitely ample time to send a quick text, or email (or pick up the phone and call) to inform us about the inconvenience. Had I been informed, I definitely would have pivoted on my plans to eat almost all of our meals inside the cottage because I wouldn’t want to spend so much time handwashing dishes for a family of six. I texted the caretaker the following morning to inquire about a repair and I was told that it would be fixed after the weekend. The repair person came on Tuesday while we were away but I never heard an update from the caretaker so I texted her again for a status update. I was told then that the appliance would need replacement, but that it couldn’t occur until after our departure. I told her that I was really disappointed to hear it and inquired about a discount for the inconvenience. The caretaker directed me to the rental agency owner who stated “of course we will offer you compensation.” The following morning, the caretaker texted me just after 8am and stated that the dishwasher would be repaired at 9am. This was a completely unexpected and uncommunicated change from what I’d heard the day before. We were not provided with even a full hour of notice. We had just left the cottage, leaving our dog (who was approved in our rental contract) behind. My limited-mobility senior mother as well as my disabled daughter were to return to the cottage after quickly dropping the rest of the family for a biking excursion at a location five minutes from the property, but were forced to abruptly change plans and find an alternative due to this poorly-communicated intrusion. Additionally, the caretaker made entry to the unit and only told us about entering after she had done so. We were not given any opportunity to secure our belongings. Not only that, but the advertised dishwasher was not available for over half of our stay. We were not offered any compensation, discount or even an appropriate apology for the situation. I have rented several vacation homes over the years. I take great care of the properties I rent, leaving them clean and abiding by the rental agreement. I am a highly-rated renter on well-known national rental websites. I have never experienced this degree of unprofessionalism with a rental agency or property owner. A willingness on the caretaker or agency owner’s part to properly communicate the situation would have made all the difference in the world. Instead, we were treated in a manner that is completely unacceptable. BHACR has lost both my respect and business. If you value communication, privacy and common courtesy, look elsewhere for your vacation rental.
