"Bed and bath: 1 bedroom, 1 bathroomTop amenities: Fitness center, complimentary breakfast, infinity pool with hot tubsBest for: Couples interested in luxury and relaxation First opened in 1887, the elegant Bar Harbor Inn is a living slice of Maine’s history that’s been lovingly updated to offer incredible amenities and stately rooms to discerning travelers. Luxury suites and ocean-view rooms are both available, spaced across the property’s three different buildings. When you aren’t visiting Jordan Pond House or hiking the Beehive Loop, book yourself an Earth & Sea Scrub at the on-site spa, float around in the infinity pool, or enjoy waterfront dining and locally sourced seafood at the Reading Room Restaurant, helmed by Chef Zach Dallesandro." - Emily Pennington

Our stay was amazing! We had a king bed room in the ocean view section, 2nd floor balcony with an increadible view. The grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed walking down the path that was in front on our room along the water that also connected to many other properties. At the end of the walk you went into the adorable and surprising big town that has every shop and restuarant you could hope to find. Plenty of activities to choose from. We stayed 3 nights and wished it was longer. The Reading Room was the best meal our whole trip (we drove from Boston staying at towns along the way). I didn't realize we had a free continental breakfast and that was a wonderful way to start each day, very filling and plenty of choices. The last afternoon, after much hiking in Acadia, we spent relaxing in the pool and hot tub, again amazing views! The service was great everywhere here. We walked & drove past many other places and if you are on the fence I recommend staying here as this has the best of everything Bar Harbor has to offer!

We loved the Bar Harbour Inn. The setting is spectacular with all encompassing views. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The location terrific for Acadia and the staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was the only thing that I thought was poor. The outside restaurant and Reading Room were wonderful in terms of location, view and food. One suggestion - it would be nice to offer grilled fish in the reading room without sauces. My husband has food allergies and could not eat many of the fish dishes as the sauces had shellfish in them which he is allergic to. This made the menu choice limited.

One of the finest inns. Our room didn’t have the full views to the water, but we could see some water and the gardens. Their grounds reminded me of a botanical garden. Great location, 7 minute drive to Acadia. Free parking. Definitely go on the walkway overlooking the water while you are there. Breakfast was included and one of my favorites. Don’t miss the cookies at 3:00 and s’mores by the fire pit in the evening. We ate at the Terrace restaurant and the food was great (about the same prices at nice restaurants in Bar Harbor) and I think the best views of the harbor.

Our stay at the Bar Harbor Inn was excellent. Amazing views right on the harbor (and directly on the Shore Path for great morning walks) and close to town. The included continental breakfast was great, and the staff was courteous and friendly. The restaurants were pretty good, and they can fill up quickly, so reservations were necessary. ||||It's a bit more on the pricey side, but I can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else if/when we return to Bar Harbor.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was superb, housekeeping and front desk staff were great. But, the bar and restaurant were okay. A little slow in service, cleaning tables in the bar area and outside on the porch. And the General Manager acted and appeared to be under some sort of influence. Acting off and very disheveled. Not what I would expect for this establishment. Tried to find him to speak to him, but he was pretty good at disappearing. Staff were not impressed by him either and they should never need to express that to a customer!

There was a problem with the hot water on the first night, but it was fixed straightaway. ||The location is perfect. The views are amazing and the flower gardens are probably the prettiest in Bar Harbor. They’re absolutely stunning. Thank you and I hope to see you again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Bar Harbor Inn, where we were treated with such kindness and generosity. They not only comped our rooms and meals, but also left us a handwritten note sharing how proud they were to have us and how important the mission of American Heroes in Action truly is. A huge thank you to Samantha, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. 🙌|The accommodations were top-notch, and the food was excellent.

Great location, super attentive staff, excellent food. Not cheap but worth it for the view and attention to detail throughout. For couples whose marital bliss thrives on seperate sleeping quarters, then the the two level condos - numbers 204-216 are the best designed rooms we have come across.

Yelp
This is not at all a reflection of jade- she was lovely and I'd request her again in a heartbeat. My gf called a few days in advance to book us massages. They said they could accommodate us for 60 min each as long as we waited since there is only one masseuse available. No problem. We got there and checked in, no one verified which service we were getting which is fine, 2 massages isn't that complicated. I waited for my friend upstairs but there wasn't any magazines or reading material etc and no cell phones are allowed so it was a loooong hour. She came out and her hair was all greasy. I didn't think much of it and went in for my service. Jade asked me which mask I wanted. She offered 3 paper masks, much like the kind you would purchase at target/cvs etc so again I didn't think anything of it. The service started as a standard massage and then all the add ons started. A foot mask. An eye mask. A face mask. Hot stones. Again I didn't want to interrupt the service but I knew this was much more than we asked for. When we went to the front desk to pay, the total was an alarming $360 each!! For an hour long service! We nearly died. We explained that we tried to book a massage only and the front desk person argued with us saying that jade did a great job etc. we tried to explain that we know she did a great job, it's just not what we booked. She did not care. For a grand total of $720 for an hour each of service, we probably won't be back.

Yelp
I had an unexpected open afternoon. Called over to make an appointment for this afternoon or tomorrow. I was welcomed with open arms. The place is beautiful; the staff is friendly and my massage therapist, Sarah, was the BEST. Would definitely recommend the Bar Harbor Inn Spa.

Yelp
On our most recent trip to Bar Harbor, we encountered a very cold and rainy day, and decided the best way to go about it was to book a treatment at the spa. After calling around, this spa was the only one that could accommodate us both and so we decided to give them a try and see how it went. We arrived early and they were gruff with us about it. I've never had a spa be mad that we arrive early, in fact many spas recommend it! This was after I called a few times and asked if we could add onto our spa treatment, and were cut off mid sentence and told they couldn't help us. Not great first impressions. Once we were allowed to access the lounge, we changed and went upstairs. The place where the spa is, looks like a renovated unit near the pool that was clearly not meant to be a spa. The layout is awkward, and not very conducive to relaxation. Upstairs we sat and waited for our appointments. Once our therapists were ready, we were taken to the massage room. He had Jade and I had Darcy, both for a 50 min therapeutic massage. Hubby said his massage was overall ok, but I had a very different experience. My massage therapist did a horrible job draping, and I felt unnecessarily exposed. The therapist also did a weird thing where she kept massaging my sternum, which I thought was very odd and made me uncomfortable. I was relieved once massages were over, but then we got to the locker rooms and there were more issues. The lady's bathroom shower floor was slanted in the wrong way, where the drain was the highest point in the floor, resulting in the rest of the floor just flooding and making it slippery and gross. I definitely expected more from this spa, being attached to their hotel which has high marks for customer service and attention to detail. I don't think the massages were worth the cost ($115 per person), and the overall experience from booking to showering left us both feeling like we wished we had booked elsewhere. Definitely will not be returning on my next trip to Bar Harbor.

Yelp
I got a deep tissue massage from Colleen and it was the right amount of pressure! She was Strong! The spa itself was nice: beautiful locker room with a sauna, showers, everything you'd need. Friendly staff and great location!

Yelp
Had a lovely time relaxing here today! Melissa gave me a 5 star mani/pedi and really was such pleasant company. Not only is the quality of services and facility top notch, the friendliness of Melissa and staff far exceeded my expectation! Would definitely book here again if I were in the area. Thank you Bar Harbor Inn Spa staff, especially Melissa!

Yelp
I booked bridal services here several months in advance so my review is for that. I emailed and spoke with Amanda the manager and she was always so very friendly and responsive and I felt in great hands leading up to my big day. We came in 3 hours before my first look for me to get makeup and updo, my mom to get blowout and makeup, one just makeup and one just updo. The makeup and hair are on different floors, which was a huge bummer because we couldn't all sit together. I had also ordered sandwiches and sparkling wine from the spa snack menu and the wine wasn't there when we arrived and took about an hour to get with a lot of miscommunication between then (brought sparking cider instead, and then showed me a menu asking which wine I wanted but there had only been one listed on the spa menu) and there weren't clean dishes or glasses. All in all we were all happy with the results of our services; I didn't do a trial and my hair was tighter than I envisioned but I did still like it. The hair stylist mentioned that there were plans for remodeling to bring all the chairs to the same level which would have made a huge difference and made it a 4 star experience at least!

Yelp
The location and setting of the Bar Harbour Inn is simply perfection. It sits right in the water with unobstructed views and is centrally locates to the quaint little town that is Bar Harbour. The lobby and entry to the hotel is extremely unattractive, dark and dingy looking. It is quite tired and detracts from the well-tended beauty of the surrounding grounds. Shocking that it hasn't been updated with something fresh, light and inviting. We enjoyed our boat rides and walks but note that there is very little to do in town. If you've shopped one store, you've shopped them all. Same identical Bar Harbour sweat shirts and t-shirts in every color ....
