The Bar Harbor Inn & Spa is the perfect location when visiting Bar Harbor. You’re steps away from Main Street and walks along the waterfront. We stayed in the Newport building, which was just fine - it was clean, but not super updated. There was a thermostat in the room, but even when we tried to turn the temp down to sleep, the room stayed hot, which makes me think we didn’t really have control of the temperature. The water pressure is also very soft, which I did not enjoy. The continental breakfast wasn’t great, the pastries taste store bought and the fruit was watery. However, the dining area was very pretty and had great views. We also stopped in the hotel’s bar for after dinner drinks and dessert, which was very fun. The staff were attentive, the mocha cake was yummy, and the drinks were great. The hotel also serves cookies in the lobby every afternoon, and they were delicious! This was a really nice touch. We were in the area to celebrate our anniversary, and the hotel left us a handwritten note and a box of chocolates to help us celebrate, and we thought this was a very thoughtful touch. Overall, the grounds are stunning, you can’t get any better in the area, and the service is great. This is one of the more expensive hotels in the area and markets itself as a luxury stay, so I was hoping for a perfect experience. Overall, it was great, but there some areas for improvement.

I stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn and Spa for a girls’ weekend trip. Initially, I was concerned that the price per night was high. Once we arrived I was pleasantly surprised and realized we booked the best place in Bar Harbor. We had a room with an ocean view balcony. The service was exceptional. Omario, Errol, Patroi, Patricia and the people who cleaned our room went above and beyond. The gentleman at the front would save cookies for us every night . ( Yes, daily free freshly made cookies, free coffee, free blueberry lemonade and all day blueberry tea, free night-time, fire- pit smorees, and free continental breakfast). Patricia made a special pastry for us , after the initial serving was finished. The infinite pool, hot tubs are so refreshing after long mountain hikes. After our stay, I believe our rooms were well worth the cost because of the things I mentioned above. In addition, I do think the rooms could use an update and the carpet should be changed to vinyl, laminate or tile faux wood.

Stayed 4 nights recently while hiking Acadia, and what a wonderful place to return to after long days in the fresh air. Our room faced the water, so every chance we had to sit on our balcony we took. From the front desk, to the doormen, to housekeeping-everyone we encountered were friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was amazing-fresh pastry, fruit, hot oatmeal....it's not your ordinary continental breakfast by far. Is the per night rate pricey, yes. But that rate gives you impeccable service, grounds, views, crystal clean rooms and a pleasant staff AND walking distance to Bar Harbor's Main Street. Worth my money!

My husband and I had the absolute best experience here! The rates aren’t cheap, but well worth every penny! The view from our room was stunning. The views around the rest of the premises were the same. The pool was awesome. The food was delicious, and mostly reasonably priced (I say mostly, because the reading room prices were quite expensive in comparison to everywhere else). The staff was incredible! I don’t know if I have ever experienced a friendlier staff. We can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely loved this Inn. Location is outstanding to walk to everything in town. Views are amazing. Can't imagine a better place to stay in Bar Harbor. The grounds are meticulously kept and seasonally beautiful. Really appreciated all day coffee and tea service, afternoon cookies and bountiful continental breakfast.

Great place to stay when visiting Acadia national park. Very close to the park and it is also walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor. The views from the waterfront rooms are great! Honestly the continental breakfast was also very good, they had a great variety and the dinning area was very clean

Was taken here by my boyfriend for a romantic lunch, and was beyond pleased. Sat in the restaurant, overlooking the Harbour. Ordered butter Lobster eggs Benedict, which was absolutely delicious! Did not stay in the hotel, but it was clearly high-end. Such a wonderful day and experience. Even if not staying, a definite must to visit.

One of the finest inns. Our room didn’t have the full views to the water, but we could see some water and the gardens. Their grounds reminded me of a botanical garden. Great location, 7 minute drive to Acadia. Free parking. Definitely go on the walkway overlooking the water while you are there. Breakfast was included and one of my favorites. Don’t miss the cookies at 3:00 and s’mores by the fire pit in the evening. We ate at the Terrace restaurant and the food was great (about the same prices at nice restaurants in Bar Harbor) and I think the best views of the harbor.

Yelp
This is not at all a reflection of jade- she was lovely and I'd request her again in a heartbeat. My gf called a few days in advance to book us massages. They said they could accommodate us for 60 min each as long as we waited since there is only one masseuse available. No problem. We got there and checked in, no one verified which service we were getting which is fine, 2 massages isn't that complicated. I waited for my friend upstairs but there wasn't any magazines or reading material etc and no cell phones are allowed so it was a loooong hour. She came out and her hair was all greasy. I didn't think much of it and went in for my service. Jade asked me which mask I wanted. She offered 3 paper masks, much like the kind you would purchase at target/cvs etc so again I didn't think anything of it. The service started as a standard massage and then all the add ons started. A foot mask. An eye mask. A face mask. Hot stones. Again I didn't want to interrupt the service but I knew this was much more than we asked for. When we went to the front desk to pay, the total was an alarming $360 each!! For an hour long service! We nearly died. We explained that we tried to book a massage only and the front desk person argued with us saying that jade did a great job etc. we tried to explain that we know she did a great job, it's just not what we booked. She did not care. For a grand total of $720 for an hour each of service, we probably won't be back.

Yelp
I had an unexpected open afternoon. Called over to make an appointment for this afternoon or tomorrow. I was welcomed with open arms. The place is beautiful; the staff is friendly and my massage therapist, Sarah, was the BEST. Would definitely recommend the Bar Harbor Inn Spa.

Yelp
On our most recent trip to Bar Harbor, we encountered a very cold and rainy day, and decided the best way to go about it was to book a treatment at the spa. After calling around, this spa was the only one that could accommodate us both and so we decided to give them a try and see how it went. We arrived early and they were gruff with us about it. I've never had a spa be mad that we arrive early, in fact many spas recommend it! This was after I called a few times and asked if we could add onto our spa treatment, and were cut off mid sentence and told they couldn't help us. Not great first impressions. Once we were allowed to access the lounge, we changed and went upstairs. The place where the spa is, looks like a renovated unit near the pool that was clearly not meant to be a spa. The layout is awkward, and not very conducive to relaxation. Upstairs we sat and waited for our appointments. Once our therapists were ready, we were taken to the massage room. He had Jade and I had Darcy, both for a 50 min therapeutic massage. Hubby said his massage was overall ok, but I had a very different experience. My massage therapist did a horrible job draping, and I felt unnecessarily exposed. The therapist also did a weird thing where she kept massaging my sternum, which I thought was very odd and made me uncomfortable. I was relieved once massages were over, but then we got to the locker rooms and there were more issues. The lady's bathroom shower floor was slanted in the wrong way, where the drain was the highest point in the floor, resulting in the rest of the floor just flooding and making it slippery and gross. I definitely expected more from this spa, being attached to their hotel which has high marks for customer service and attention to detail. I don't think the massages were worth the cost ($115 per person), and the overall experience from booking to showering left us both feeling like we wished we had booked elsewhere. Definitely will not be returning on my next trip to Bar Harbor.

Yelp
I got a deep tissue massage from Colleen and it was the right amount of pressure! She was Strong! The spa itself was nice: beautiful locker room with a sauna, showers, everything you'd need. Friendly staff and great location!

Yelp
Had a lovely time relaxing here today! Melissa gave me a 5 star mani/pedi and really was such pleasant company. Not only is the quality of services and facility top notch, the friendliness of Melissa and staff far exceeded my expectation! Would definitely book here again if I were in the area. Thank you Bar Harbor Inn Spa staff, especially Melissa!

Yelp
I booked bridal services here several months in advance so my review is for that. I emailed and spoke with Amanda the manager and she was always so very friendly and responsive and I felt in great hands leading up to my big day. We came in 3 hours before my first look for me to get makeup and updo, my mom to get blowout and makeup, one just makeup and one just updo. The makeup and hair are on different floors, which was a huge bummer because we couldn't all sit together. I had also ordered sandwiches and sparkling wine from the spa snack menu and the wine wasn't there when we arrived and took about an hour to get with a lot of miscommunication between then (brought sparking cider instead, and then showed me a menu asking which wine I wanted but there had only been one listed on the spa menu) and there weren't clean dishes or glasses. All in all we were all happy with the results of our services; I didn't do a trial and my hair was tighter than I envisioned but I did still like it. The hair stylist mentioned that there were plans for remodeling to bring all the chairs to the same level which would have made a huge difference and made it a 4 star experience at least!

Yelp
The location and setting of the Bar Harbour Inn is simply perfection. It sits right in the water with unobstructed views and is centrally locates to the quaint little town that is Bar Harbour. The lobby and entry to the hotel is extremely unattractive, dark and dingy looking. It is quite tired and detracts from the well-tended beauty of the surrounding grounds. Shocking that it hasn't been updated with something fresh, light and inviting. We enjoyed our boat rides and walks but note that there is very little to do in town. If you've shopped one store, you've shopped them all. Same identical Bar Harbour sweat shirts and t-shirts in every color ....
