Bar Italia

Probably the most iconic coffee bar in London is well worth the visit in my opinion. It drips with nostalgia from the cluttered wall-spaces to well-worn floor which so many have stepped upon. Open for the considerable part of most days, this is rarely quiet and usually busy. The food here, I had a late night pizza and a beer, was to a reasonable standard and price given the time and place. True, Ive had better pizza. Its difficult to think of somewhere else at 11pm on a Sunday where this could happen and in such a nice space. Staff in all fairness were lovely. The bathrooms were a little shabby at this time. I returned the following morning for a coffee though and this was just first class. Absolutely buzzing inside and out with people coming and going. Ultimately this is what they do best and ehat they are known for. This is slice of london that one needs to take a bite of.

Come here and you are stepping back in time. This cafe was established in 1949 and the interior hasn’t really changed much which gives it an iconic flair. The service here is very fast and the coffee is good. It’s not really big so seats are taken quickly but you can enjoy your espresso here Italien style al banco on the counter. Although prices has gone up over the years but it’s still decent for central London.

Best coffee ever in UK! ☕️and my child loves the Profiterole. Has the vibe di Italia. Toubarentransported to Bella Italia. I have a capuccio or cortado, my husband has the best machiato. Service is good. Very busy, with locals and lots of tourists sometimes (depends on the time of day or season). Service might be a bit busy, but staff is ok. Be firm, make sure you are clear on what you want and your order. Say buongiorno, grazie and ciao ciao. Italian way to drink coffee is on feet standing quick sip and a bite and off you go. But you can sit a bit longer. There is good amount of seating outside and relativley enough inside considering it is an Italian coffee bar. Very Good fresh home made Italian pastries. The coffee is simply the best. Whenever we are in London, Bar Italia is our best kept secret.

You must sample the pastries in this iconic London coffee house. Great atmosphere with friendly staff. As previous comments have mentioned, it's like stepping back in time. It's not too difficult to imagine the variety of people visiting here over the decades.

Agree a good place to have chat and coffee but definitely not the best coffee in London. Whilst I get the retro look it needs an update and refresh. Service was great.

Had such a great time at Bar Italia in Soho! 🇮🇹☕ This place has that classic, authentic Italian café vibe that’s hard to find anywhere else in London. The espresso was absolutely spot on—rich, smooth, and exactly what you want from a proper Italian coffee. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing, especially with people chatting outside and the late-night energy Soho is famous for. It’s the kind of place you can pop into for a quick coffee or sit and soak up the atmosphere for a while. Definitely a Soho gem and a must-visit if you love great coffee and a lively vibe. I’ll definitely be back!

They serve flat white here and I’d say this place really deserves recognition. I normally look for balance between the milk and coffee for my flat white and this one has stronger on the coffee side. The coffee strength is just perfect for me and I liked it. One of the places in London that serves great and delicious coffee. The staff were friendly.

Fantastic! In Soho and Chinatown for the evening to take some photos and dropped in as planned at Bar Italia for a Spaghetti Bolognese and and an espresso. Wonderful service, lovely espresso, excellent food - a lot warmer than outside and a great atmosphere. Old school and a wide variety of interesting and friendly people coming and going. Highly recommended and thanks for the warm welcome!
