This was a very popular and lively bar when we visited. The atmosphere was great, the music was loud and the singing was really bad, we loved it. There's the usual selection of tapas but we were there just for drinks. We had some really nice sweet sherry and nice cold beer, just what we needed in the heat of the day. The bill was added-up in chalk on the bar, something we've seen in other bars. A very authentic Spanish tapas bar with lots of character, well worth a visit.

Very busy local place with menu all in Spanish - a bit daunting to walk in but the staff was welcoming and the food so tasty!! Especially loved the pork (magro al Pedro Ximénez), jamón croquetas, and super refreshing vino dulce de Barril. Thank you for the great vibes!

A Local Gem in Malaga – Bar La Tranca I almost don't want to write this review, just to keep this place a bit of a secret for the locals. But credit where credit’s due. Bar La Tranca was hands-down our favorite spot to eat and drink in Málaga. We ended up coming here five times during our six-day stay, and honestly, nothing else quite measured up. The Highs: Staff: The women running the bar are absolute pros. Even when the place was packed (which it often was), they somehow managed to stay on top of everything — drinks, food, service — all with a smile and an energy that was genuinely fun to watch. There’s clearly a strong sense of teamwork behind the bar, and it shows. Food: Every dish we tried was a hit. Personal favorites: the rabo de toro, pincho de langostino, pincho de chorizo, and gildas. One miss — and totally our fault — was the toasta de melva. Neither of us are fans of tuna, and we didn’t realize that’s what it was. Chalk it up to our rusty Spanish. Drinks: The Victoria beer on tap was ice cold and just right after a day of walking the city. My partner loved the vermut, and there was a sangria-like drink she ordered a few times that we still can’t remember the name of, but it was delicious. Great local wine options too. Whether you’re into beer, wine, or cocktails, there’s something here for you. Ambiance: This is exactly how I imagined a true Andalusian tapas bar to feel. Music loud enough to set the mood, but not so loud you can’t talk. Even when it’s crowded (and it will be), it never feels chaotic. It’s warm, intimate, and just has that special vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. La Tranca is a happy place. The Lows: Honestly? None come to mind.

The atmosphere is noisy and crowded, however cozy and friendly. I tried two tapas, and both were delicious. You might have trouble finding a seat, so luck is a factor. But the taste of tapas and atmosphere are super wonderful. This place is also recommendation of my friend who lives in Malaga.

Google
Authentic taverna experience in Spain, great energy, everybody happy, owner singing, warm service, good food, for sure you will leave happy and full of energy! It’s a bit more towards a bar, than a restaurant, but food is good enough, and can have some dishes in smaller tapas servings. Order at the bar. Definitely would repeat, had some tapas, some biger plates as well for 2 and couple of drinks each, check was 48, very decent We went for lunch, around 13, and it was already almsot full on a Monday in October - but managed to find a table.

Fantastic little bar in central Málaga. Was a bit worried when we entered as it was really busy but we were shown to a free table and proceeded to order. We ordered way too much food but luckily it was all delicious. The bravas sauce had a real kick, the steak in Pedro Ximenez was tender and the sauce sweet and rich and the two toasties were both great - particularly the salmon. With two drinks each our meal was less than €50. Atmosphere and service were both top notch. Would definitely recommend visiting here when in Malaga.

Amazing place! People are so nice and kind. It was really crowded but we managed to find a place to sit and eat great tapas. Very good value for the money. Definitely recommend!

Google
Best experience in MÁLAGA! If you are looking for the real Spanish tapas bar go for it! The bartender MARTA made the experience even better. Welcoming and attentive, she recomend us what to eat and to drink, and we couldn't ask for more. Not easy to find a seat but the turnover of customers is high so you just have to be a bit patient but it's totally worth it!

Yelp
It's loud and cozy and what you expect for a smaller, local Bar. Got here around 8 on a Monday evening and it was like a competition to get to the Bar to place an order. Give one of the Bartenders a wave and that's about it. Ordered a Vermouth to start-local and tasty. I wanted to try the Flamenquin and asked what other Tapa is a good one to try (smaller). The kind Bartender suggested the Zucchini Tortilla. Solid Omelette with Zucchini and very good (but it isn't really small). Star of the show was the Flamenquin (and this alone would've been enough unless sharing) Pork with peppers breaded and fried with a side of Patatas-excellent and I haven't seen this one anywhere else locally. Friendly people behind the Bar. Just gently navigate your way to the Bar for your order-friendly local crowd. Surprisingly, they slowed down shortly after I arrived. Must be Holiday on a Monday night effect.

Yelp
I had read about this tapas bar on Trip Advisor and we decided to stop here for something to eat...the place was packed around 5pm.....definitely light crowd, according to our server Dani. It gets really busy after 8pm. We eventually got some free room at the bar and we ordered several nice tapas to eat along with some cañas (small glasses of beer). She gave us Victoria which is a Malaga beer brand and it was really good... The place was loud, lively and fun. A really cool place to stop by if you are in the area.

Yelp
Great authentic tapas atmosphere but the food itself was so-so. We got her early on a Wednesday evening and though crowded were able to snag to seats at the bar. I began with a red wine and then decided to try some vermouth since it is so popular. It was pretty good. I think I will stick with the very good and very inexpensive Spanish red wine. We ordered a number of tapas after getting the free olives with our drinks. Again another place where the menu is on line from a QR code so to make it easier given our limited Spanish we made a list. We started with the seafood stuffed avocado which was probably the best thing we got. We misordered some cheese instead of meatballs and it was decent. The tortilla was also pretty good as was the cheese and ham empanada. The flamenquin we ordered was a disappointment. Many of the hot tapas were microwaved! Overall a fun vibe but the tapas was a mixed bag.

Yelp
Finally came here for dinner and was disappointed by the food. I wonder what the hype of this place is all about? The singing waiters? The cheap food? Every time we passed by it was packed so we thought this place would be great. To my dismay it wasn't. I would skip this one if I come back. Trust!

Yelp
Great small local eatery popular with the locals. The first time I went there at 11pm at night the place was full. Tried a second time at noon time during the day which is early for locals and I was able to get a seat. Highly recommend the flamenquin there. The other dishes were good as well but not as memorable as the flamequin.

Yelp
This was a stop we made to try so many different types of tapas and it was delicious. Meatballs, roasted pork, sardines, empanadas and against my normal preference, a melted goat cheese with grilled onions. As we look back over the day, it was the tastiest thing we tried, which is hard for me to admit. It was the perfect way to wait out a little rain.

Yelp
Great place! Lively, excellent food and drinks. Stop by for a drink and a tapas; all the fun!

Yelp
This little bar is such a quintessential hole-in-wall. It has great tapas, an amazing wine selection, and is situated perfectly for some great people-watching. Stop by for croquettes and a glass of wine after shopping or exploring.

Yelp
A fun place to grab drinks, nibble on tapas, and and unwind after hours of sightseeing. The music is fun and loud but not obnoxiously so. The crowd is mixed; we saw college kids, young parents and older folk. The food is simple and tasty- try the empanadas (spinach or chicken and mushroom). They also have a great bottle of house red. We got a Tempranillo-Cabernet Sauvignon blend that was delicious, and only EUR 10 for the bottle!

Yelp
Local bar. Busy and friendly. Our man-bun waiter sang along with most of the music, good voice. Lots of tasty tapas. Several barreled drinks. I had a red vermouth, my husband, a dry.

Yelp
Another amazing tapas bar in Malaga - really nice staff, local guests and authentic atmosphere. Be sure not to miss the vermouth de barrillo.
