Bar Laika by e-flux

This place has a waitress with a black winter hat who provided bad service! Who couldn't be considerate and save us a table even though she knew we were in line. In the end, we had to go to the nearby bar called Izzi Rose, which had good service and good cocktails.

After running past Laika so many times, we finally wandered in for a quick drink at the bar before a reservation across the street. Pierce took care of us and was so wonderful in extending that care. It was a frigid weekday night, yet P made us feel warm and at home immediately. I had the 76 - bright, refreshing and so sippable. My partner had two different glasses of wine - the second being a skin contact that P described like a seasoned somm ;) Can’t wait to come back and try the dumplings and more expertly suggested wines. A solid neighborhood staple!

Great homemade sodas for those seeking non alcoholic options. Great friendly service from our server Elinor. Very cozy and intimate setting.

Incredibly cool hip bar with wood sidings and wood accents with great cocktails, good wine and little nibbles to eat. They even do little screenings. I just happen to be here some doing some work at the bar and I ended up staying to watch a 1967 12 minute short, animated film from Czechoslovakia about power and magic.

I just discovered bar Laika, they have perfectly marinated pickles, delicious dumplings, the best olive martini, amazing wine selection and my favorite playlist of IDM from the 90th. Great service!!! highly recommend

The place is beautiful and drinks are good. They don’t have much food options - just a few appetizers - and all we tried was really tasty. Dumplings are small but the portion is pretty good and perfect for sharing. The olive oil cake was amazing! Light, soft and fluffy, not too sweet and finalized with an special whipped cream. We went on a Friday night, it was packed with only two people serving. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't perfect either. I hope that soon they can increase their team to not lose quality. I’ll definitely wanna go back to try more drinks!

Gorgeous space and very well balanced cocktails

I had a very uncomfortable experience here. While the bar was fairly quiet, a bartender (late 20s, curly hair) suddenly moved my purse from an empty chair at one of several empty tables beside me. Assuming it was a mistake, I quickly told him it was my bag and placed it back so it wouldn’t get dirty. He then aggressively grabbed it again, and when I asked him not to move it, he flung my belongings onto our table with our drinks. At one point he stood over me in silence for minutes, which felt intimidating, before accusing me of being “disrespectful all night, even though this was our first interaction. His behavior was rude, unprofessional, and targeted. I left in tears around midnight, which is not how anyone should feel after a night out. I rarely leave reviews, but this incident was upsetting. I hope management addresses it before it drives customers away or damages the bar’s reputation. For what it’s worth, my friend recorded most of the interaction because the aggression was so bizarre and obvious.

Busy cocktail bar. We stopped by for a couple drinks while waiting for a table nearby. We were able to grab one of the last tables at around 7 pm before a wait formed. I had a couple Sazeracs - a rye based cocktail. Nice presentation. I'm no expert in cocktails but I thought it was very good. Service was friendly and attentive. Good job of keeping tables cleared and patrons settled even without a hostess. There appeared to be one restroom which was gender neutral and handicap accesible.

Great place to go for snacks, hydration, and conversation in a relaxed and cool (air conditioned) environment. The borjomi mineral water (from the mountains of Georgia) is a little salty, perfectly carbonated, and 100% delicious. A new fave

We only came for drinks so we didn't try any of the food. The drinks were lovely... I had a chili margarita and my friend had the ginger mezcal drink. Both were very good. It has a sleek, modern, minimalist vibe and powerful AC which was very much appreciated on an extremely hot day in Brooklyn.

Friends and I came in shortly after opening on a Friday night and got a table. The bar itself is sleek and modern and has a great aesthetic. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We tried the Yuzu 75, Strawberry Rhubarb Sour, and the Spritz cocktails. They were also well crafted and flavorful. We also had their Pelmeni pirk dumplings, Vareniki potato dumplings, and the marinated cucumbers. These were all excellent, and good portions to share. The cucumbers were covered in a briny marinade loaded with fresh dill; fresh and delicious. The dumplings both came with sour cream and fresh dill, and the potato ones with fried onions on top. These were delicious as well. I would absolutely recommend stopping by!

This was a solid cocktail bar in Clinton Hill which made the interesting decision to serve only Japanese curry alongside bar snacks. The Japanese curry was good. The yuzu cocktail offered bold flavors, and generally I would return here for drinks. That being said, I expected something a little more out-of-the-ordinary for a bar named after a space traveling Soviet dog.

Neat spot with a very sleek, wooden Japanese decor. Personally, I like cozier venues, but it's hard to deny how nice this looks to the eye. My olive martini was well balanced and enjoyable.

So far so good. Feels like the minimalist cafe at a major contemporary art museum mixed with a down home Japanese restaurant. All of the staff are lovely and even the chopsticks are wrapped with a precious level of attention. Curry ($9) is the centerpiece of a Japanese menu. It is delicious if demure in size. It came mixed with rice and had a rich umami vibe. I ordered the optional onsen egg and uni add-on. They are programming art films in the evening and obviously have very conceptual ideas for what this place is supposed to be. It will be interesting to see how much off their idealism lasts after a year of business. I hope they don't lose the welcoming and affordable curry on the menu. On the other hand I hope they realize people will need bigger napkins. This is bound to be a hit with the Pratt community. It is apparently a project of E-Flux which you should look up if you don't know what that is.

Welcoming and unique addition to the neighborhood. Great atmosphere and tasty homemade Japanese food, in a warm and relaxed setting. The curry with Onsen egg is worth a try.

incredible - simply unreal service. coffee is beyond comparison. everyone who works here is super nice and cool my baristo had a mitski shirt on! haha!

Overall, this place is good as a cocktail bar but the jury is out on how good it is as a restaurant. Good drinks, high-end looking atmosphere. Went on a Sunday night and apparently they don't serve their full menu that night. Just small plates and curry. I don't recommend trying to make a meal out of it. Fine for a snack though. The curry says it has vegetables in it, but mostly it's just an expensive bowl of rice/risotto-type thing topped with a bit of whichever seafood you choose. It tasted good, but needs some more veggies in it (especially if it says so on the menu). Vegetarians won't be satisfied with that amount of substance.

i went here on a Tues night, so i don't know how busy it gets on the weekends, but i loved this space. it's beautiful; the drink menu is fantastic and the food is excellent. so happy to have this in the neighborhood!

Food tasted great and so did the cocktails. We had a few different dishes and a couple cocktails and everything was delicious. Will be coming back!

This is a great hidden gem of a spot to grab a cocktail or snack with a friend. Cool atmosphere, interesting music and evolving menu of small plates! Amazing creations especially considering they don't even have a gas cooktop! Highly recommend mezcal penicillin or yuzu 75 cocktails; the curry bowls are flavorful; pickled heirloom tomatoes with shiso leaf were incredible. Check it out! As a bonus, It is a project of e-flux which is worth looking up if you're not familiar.

Reviewing just for food. Came here for brunch with friend one weekend because it seems like an interesting addition to the neighborhood. Taste of food was good but portions are beyond tiny. They actually came with a Barbie sized milk jar for my coffee it just seemed ridiculous. Waitress told us that fish stew will be 'very filling' and it came in a tiny bowl with 4 tiny pieces of fish, probably not quite enough even for my one year old. For $50 per person, we left feeling completely unsatisfied and shocked tbh and had to make it up for ourselves by grabbing donuts from Dough around the corner..

Best cocktails in the neighborhood AND friendly staff AND beautiful interior. Honestly 10/10. I loved the yuzu cocktail, and classic drinks were also very well done (hubby loved the Negroni and sazarac)
