16 Best Bars in Venice

"This iconic bar in the Gritti Palace has only gotten more classic with age. The space is decorated so finely it’s fit for royalty: Murano glass chandeliers, Fortuny fabrics, and priceless Piero Longhi paintings fill the opulent room. As for the drinks, ten variations of the martini grace the Bar Longhi menu, in addition to specialty cocktails like the Basil-Ica (gin, lemon, St-Germain, basil leaves, and orange bitters) and Kir Imperial (creme de framboise and Champagne). The craft cocktails are complemented by a well-stocked wine cellar selection. Even if you come alone you'll have someone to talk to as the tuxedoed bartenders are some of the best conversationalists in Venice." - Jenna Scatena

Bar Longhi – Bar Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Give us a top line view. Located in Gritti Palace , this iconic Venice bar has only gotten more classic with age. Steeped in literary history (it’s where Hemingway finished writing Across the River and into the Trees ). The space is decorated so finely it’s fit for royalty: Murano glass chandeliers that illuminate the opulent room, along with Fortuny fabrics and priceless Piero Longhi paintings. So who’s here? This is where returning visitors of all generations come for their sunset aperitif, overlooking the Grand Canal. Celebrities, notable locals, wedding parties, and any well-heeled traveler living by the ubiquitous #YOLO hashtag, floats through this iconic bar. The drinks: How are they? Ten variations of the martini grace the Bar Longhi cocktail menu, alongside specialty offerings like the Basil-Ica (gin, lemon, St-Germain, basil leaves, and orange bitters), and Kir Imperial (creme de framboise and Champagne). The craft cocktails are complemented by a well-stocked wine cellar. Is there food on offer too? Venetian fare and light bar bites complement the craft cocktails. How did you find the staff? The tuxedoed bartenders are some of the best conversationalists in all of Venice. Grab a seat at the bar and they will happily chat you up, and provide their personal recommendations. What's the bottom line? This is where you want to be for the high point of your trip—the birthday, the proposal, or just the final sunset." - Jenna Scatena

Google
Shockingly Bad Service for a Supposed Luxury Hotel I honestly can’t believe how terribly we were treated here. We came by boat, dressed for a celebration, expecting at least basic hospitality from a hotel that pretends to be high-end. Instead, we were greeted by a bar manager with the worst attitude I’ve ever seen in the service industry. He didn’t just refuse to seat us — he did it with an air of pure arrogance, speaking to us as if we were inconveniencing him by simply showing up. No explanation, no apology, nothing. Just a dismissive tone and a cold stare. Even more disappointing, the other hotel staff stood by and acted the same way — distant, uninterested, and completely unhelpful. Not one person made the slightest effort to offer a solution or show even basic courtesy. The whole experience was humiliating and completely ruined what was supposed to be a special evening. For a hotel of this price and reputation, their behavior is an absolute joke. Don’t waste your time. Don’t waste your money. There are plenty of places in Venice that actually know how to treat guests like human beings.

An Unbelievable Disappointment! I have never in my life encountered a bar manager as rude, unprofessional, and unwelcoming as the one at this hotel. We came here for a special celebration, all dressed up, after taking a boat all the way to the property. We even sent the boat away, trusting that we would be able to enjoy a drink inside. To our shock, the manager treated us with zero respect, spoke to us in an extremely cold and arrogant manner, and refused to let us in without any explanation whatsoever. It felt as if we were being turned away at the door, for absolutely no reason, despite being well-dressed and polite. At a place that claims to be high-end, this kind of behavior is nothing short of a scandal. The manager’s attitude ruined our entire evening and left all of us genuinely upset. This was supposed to be a celebration, not an exercise in humiliation. Do NOT waste your time here. Do NOT come here. The staff — especially the manager — redefine rudeness.

Great place to get a really nice drink and hide away from the crowds. The cocktail ingredients were so fresh and it was exactly what I needed. I did have to battle a pigeon (he did get away with a few hazelnuts from another table) but it is to be expected in this city. Also, this is mostly a bar with a few snacks, not the place to go if you are starving!

Very expensive drinks, but worth the view and the vibe during sunset and at night

Breathtaking views of the grand canal! Getting the best seat in Venice to see all the hustle and bustle of boats and gondolas cruising by! The drinks were perfect and a perfect relaxing experience from a long days walking around Venice. Try to make a reservation at Bar Longhi to enjoy the sunset!

Google
The view is beautiful but the drinks are extremely expensive and godawful. This place served me the worst old fashioned I have ever had, and it cost like $30. It's bourbon and sugar, how do you mess that up? We actually felt sick the next day. Aviation cocktail wasn't much better. There are much better bars with a view, skip this place.

the atmosphere of Bar Longhi is really amazing, i have been in here many times. Unfortunately the service was not good, they were rude.

This is the bar of the Gritti and is a must visit on a nice day to sit on the balcony right by the grand canal. The service is amazing. The staff always seems to know when you need something. The Riva Boat Chairs are sweet and comfy.
