Wandering Valencia’s Ciutat Vella at golden hour, we ducked into Los Picapiedra—a cozy, Flintstones-themed tapas bar with big personality on Calle Caballeros. It’s the kind of spot where locals squeeze in next to travelers, music hums, and the chalkboard menu does all the flirting. Prices looked friendly, vibes even friendlier. Will was awesome and made us feel right at home.
We did the only logical thing: ordered one of everything. Gorgeous and delicious—classic bravas, jamón, goat-cheese pinchos, little seafood bites—the works. A frosty jar of sangria hit the table (absolute fire), and their tinto de verano was spot-on, light and citrusy for the warm evening. Easy ordering, quick service, and portions that make sharing fun without breaking the bank.
I’m the American half; she’s the Aussie. We parked at a high-top, traded forks across plates, and people-watched as the street came alive. Our server taught us the names of a couple regional tapas (we tried to repeat them—with mixed success), and we toasted the city with another round of sangria because…when in Valencia. By plate three, we’d already declared this our “bring-friends-tomorrow” place.
Los Picapiedra is a must for tapas crawlers who want flavor, fun, and fair prices in the historic center. Perfect for date-night grazing or a pre-flamenco warm-up. Come hungry, share widely, and don’t skip the sangria or a glass of tinto de verano. We’ll be back—with reinforcements.
