Bar Louie -University Village

I had an amazing experience at Bar Louie on Roosevelt and Halsted, and I have to give a special shoutout to Mimi behind the bar. She is truly one of the kindest and most genuine bartenders I’ve met in a long time. From the moment I sat down, she greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel welcome right away. Mimi has that rare quality where you can tell she genuinely cares about the people she’s serving. She was attentive, professional, and incredibly friendly the entire time. My drinks were made perfectly, service was quick, and she created such a positive and comfortable atmosphere around the bar. You can tell she takes pride in her work and treats every customer with respect and kindness. People like Mimi are the reason places like Bar Louie keep customers coming back. If you stop by this location, definitely sit at the bar and ask for Mimi. She’ll take great care of you. Thank you Mimi for such a great experience. Your kindness and professionalism really stand out.

Our waitress was Essence. As a frequent guest at this establishment, I have always appreciated the high standard of service provided here. Unfortunately, my experience this evening was uncharacteristic of the quality I’ve come to expect. After our food was delivered, we had to wait quite a while for basic necessities like plates and utensils, and I had to request water multiple times. It appeared the server was struggling with floor management tonight. I’m sharing this in hopes that the team can provide the necessary support or training to ensure the service returns to its usual excellent standard.

My date and I had a wonderful time at this location. The atmosphere is lively, the drinks were strong and the food was good. I definitely recommend this for a quick bite or date night.

I’m a regular here and I come all the time for happy hour. They have a new drink raspberry lemonade martini comes with Grey Goose and gin. My server was a young lady asian descent. The manager stated that she has only been working there for two weeks. I found out that the young lady was not making my martinis with Grey Goose. She was making it with Eddie V. I was wondering why my liquor didn’t taste like anything. I had two martinis and I was not tipsy or anything so the young lady told me that yes we did not have no grey goose. I informed her that she should’ve notified me that way I could’ve picked a different drink. So once my bill came, which I have no problem with paying it, I asked for the manager because I was a little upset that I was not paying for what I asked for. The manager, Mary Told me to report the girl on yelp so they cannot have these problems anymore. And she also told me that the drink was made correctly. So I said how can a drink be made correctly when the girl stated in her coworker stated that they did not have no more Gray goose. So someone is telling a story turns out it was the manager. She does not like the girl and so I am writing this review because that was wrong you’re supposed to have your employees back and you’re supposed to accommodate your customers but instead she wanted me to report the good young lady instead of just apologized for the confusion. And so I asked young lady did you tell your supervisor that you didn’t give me any Eddie V instead of Grey Goose she said no I told her the truth.

The food was fantastic. The fried pickles are thin and crisp chips, and the jalapeño ranch has a lot of good flavor and spice. Both the flatbreads we ordered were also very good. The bacon hot honey one though has cranberries on it without listing cranberries as an ingredient on the menu. Service was lackluster at best. They weren't super busy, but our drinks that we ordered with our appetizer didn't come out until after our MAIN COURSE. Literally, it took 45 minutes to make 2 drinks. Music was also so loud I could barely talk to my partner, but its in a college town so they get a pass for that.

We come here every year to celebrate my sister's birthday on Halloween. The service and food are both wonderful. We love it.

Bar Louie near University Village offers a vibrant atmosphere perfect for socializing. The menu boasts a variety of tasty dishes and cocktails, and the staff is friendly and attentive. On Tuesdays they have a happy hour menu for their burger from 4pm-7pm Their Salmon Sliders are very simple and was not my favorite choice. The set back was that we had a service charge fee of 18% included which I believe it should be an option, and usually it is applied when it is a large group in a table, not when only 2 people ordering food.
