Best meatballs of my life! Do not miss a chance to eat here. I can't wait to go again.

Chef Miguel is an excellent chef. The food is unbelievably good and fairly priced. The wait staff (especially Jose and Andreous) are very good at what they do, Jose is especially good at letting you know how the dishes are prepared and what ingredients are used. Highly recommend this place, great atmosphere, nice friendly bar too.

Google
Excellent food. Service very friendly & knowledgeable. Entire atmosphere is extremely welcoming & conducive to an enjoyable evening. Masdimo, a co- owner, who oversees the room, does a great job in making you feel welcome. We have been there many times and have never been disappointed. My wife & I and our friends, who have joined us, give Bar Lupa the highest rating.

Google
Took my family of five to this wonderful establishment recently. The chef/owner is putting out dishes that are remarkable. If you go there and don't entertain at least one or several of the specials you are missing the uniqueness of his talent. So here goes. First special, Vitello Costata (Veal chop) was out of this world. It was of the Fiorentina style of grilled meats particularly with the fresh rosemary on top and grilled to perfection. Second special, the snapper Livornese was enchanting. Third special, Papardelle with a light tomato sauce infused with Gorgonzola (I had never seen that style so I can't put a regional name on it), nevertheless as marvelous as the two above. The staff is incredible; "a bunch of good people!" Thanks to all at Bar Lupa!!

Google
Had dinner sitting in the main dining room early one night - I think ambiance may improve later in the evening. The bar area was hopping, and with their appetizer menu available there, I think that might be the best bet!

Google
Bar Lupa is an "in" place in Westport with a loyal clientele that loves its authentic Italian cuisine, impeccable service, and intimate atmosphere at the bar and in the dining room. Perfect for a candlelight dinner, a business lunch, or a drink with a friend. And when I recently brought a large family group there for a holiday feast, Bar Lupa was more than up to the challenge.

Yelp
Everyone so nice. We had appetizers: I had the steak, L had the veal. Both DELISH! Service great and personable. Drinks were expertly made (I had a whiskey sour). Even the fellow diners were great. A table of 3 near us, who I was only vaguely aware of, picked up our tab! We only found out as we were leaving-- THANK YOU to everyone! Maybe we'll pay it backward next time we go!

Yelp
If I could leave no review it would be to little! Went over the weekend, about 5 tables full in the restaurant! Have had many many meals at this location and been amazing, and I think this meal may be the last after the time we had! In my life I have never been yelled at by a waiter, had a short bald waiter, we ordered drinks and apps right in the beginning, and about 20 min later ordered our meals still with no drinks at the table. Once our drinks arrived, about the same time our meals arrived (still no apps). We asked the waiter where are the apps, with a deep accent... yelled WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO! Whole restaurant looked at us, we felt so embarrassed! Food was ice cold, my lamb looked like they poured it out of a dog food can, we never once saw the waiter again, had to ask another waiter is this what it was supposed to look like, asked to cancel our apps, apps still came out, asked to take them back, received such attitude! Ate what we could, terrible meal, no apology, asked for the check. Received the check and wanted to just pay and leave, got home, and saw apps sent back and meal was all still on the check. Called and asked why were we charged and was told they still cooked what we asked for! Embarrassing and terrible experience! Manager and owners should be embarrassed by how bad this experience was from my MIL favorite restaurant! Love this restaurant, usually so clean and amazing.. this has been awful!

Yelp
We had a pasta dish and tuna with green beans. Both were delicious. Never disappointed here. Staff very attentive.

Yelp
Six of us waited 25 minutes and then I motioned to on of the servers to come over to our table to take a drink order. A commotion occurred after we requested separate checks for the 3 couples. then the manager came over and said, "We don't do separate checks..." We guessed he failed 3rd-grade math, then we walked out. NEVER AGAIN...

Stacy M.

Yelp
The food is ok. The pasta wasn't cooked well. The fish on top was good. My daughter had the pizza which did look good. It's mostly tapas so don't go if you are hungry. There only around three options for an actual meal. The service was very good. Multiple people came to help us. They were all polite and helpful. It was 5 degrees outside so there weren't many people inside. There is no ambiance. It is a small box. There was no heat so it felt like -5 degrees while sitting there.

Yelp
I was right down the road and was searching to find a new solid Italian spot. Mission accomplished. Bar Lupa is easy to miss when driving on Post Road, but don't miss it. There is some parking, but not too much, so it can be a little tricky (I assume), but I didn't have an issue. This spot isn't too big, so I would recommend reservations, especially during COVID. I sat at the bar and had fantastic service the entire time. I enjoyed a lovely (albeit slightly higher priced) martini and tried their tortellini, which is DELICIOUS! Some comments said that meals were small, but I got 2.5 meals out of mine (with the .5 being about 3 hours after I got home because it was just so good). I can't wait to try so many other delicious-sounding menu options soon. Overall, great food, drinks, and service - solid choice, in my opinion.

Yelp
What a wonderful time we had at this place. The first recommendation I would make is to make a reservation to ensure you have a table. Luckily we were able to grab a seat at the bar. We were not necessarily hungry for a full meal, rather we were in the mood for a few tapas and drinks and it was perfect. As you enter into the establishment the bar is in the front and the dining room is off to the side. The bar tender was quick to take our drink order but he was really busy. For our tapas we had the calamari, the stuffed peppers and charcuterie. I saw plenty of the reviews complaining about the small portion size but to be honest if your ordering tapas the expectations should not be that you will get huge portion sizes. We were pleased. The tapas were a perfect size as far as we were concerned but more importantly the flavors were amazing. Loved everything we ordered. My favorite was the stuffed peppers. For dessert we ordered the chocolate lava cake and it was delicious. I absolutely loved this place and we will definitely be making reservations to try the entrees.

Yelp
Massimo and Michele bring Rome to Westport! Do yourself a favor and go now! Doesn't get better than this outside of Rome

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night. Stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night. After ordering drinks, we perused the menu and decided on a bunch of "small plates". Everything we ordered was tasty -- especially the Tagliata di Manzo, which was our favorite of the evening. Also worth a mention was the Salmone and Carpaccio. This is NOT a place to get a "quick" meal, with fast and furious service. Instead, we enjoyed the more relaxed pace, the attentive service by the staff and the cozy, understated atmosphere.

Yelp
Best Italian food in Fairfield hands down! We went for the first time last week, we are always at Izzos's Garden Center Or the antique store in the same parking lot. We always wanted to stop in and try but just got the chance! Great find, amazing small plates. The entrees were over the top! Going back tonight! You will not be disappointed.

GG G.

Yelp
The Host and the sever was the only good thing of the night. While we waited for a table on a Saturday night, the bartender was rude and not helpful. Appetizers are a bite not an actual plate. The sauces are salty and flavorless. The artichokes from a can and the eggplant tower is one slice. The salmon was overcooked, and the broccoli from a frozen bag. Just like airplane food! This is the worst restaurant in the Fairfield area. It's a shame that this restaurant serves and charges for indelible food.

Jami B.

Yelp
Bar Lupe is my favorite restaurant in Westport! This is were we go to celebrate all of life's biggest moments; birthday's, graduations, new jobs etc! The food is always fresh, tasty, and full of flavor. Masimo greets us at the door with a warm hug, and the staff remembers our wine choices and is always happy to see us! Bar Lupa is a gem, if you want to feel at home and have a fantastic dinning experience this is your place!

Yelp
Bar Lupa. After all the hype we tried this place last night. Essentially after Rustico had declined over recent years the owner brought in a partner. Miguel the original owner of a Rustico is still cooking and now the new partner Silvio does all the schmoozing. They put a fresh coat of paint on the walls, added some pictures. The menu has remained the same. We showed up for an 8:45 reservation and the place was mobbed. We were told our table would be ready in 5 mins. 30 mins later we were still waiting. The new partner Silvio apologized and offered to buy us a round of drinks which was very nice. We shared the Burrata appetizer which was excellent. My wife had the open semolina pasta with shrimp in a saffron sauce. The pasta was undercooked beyond al dente. Sauce had a nice flavor. I had the Rosemary chicken really just chicken scarpiello. Nice flavors but the chicken breasts were 1.25 inch thick. I prefer in any chicken dish the meat is sliced thin and tenderized before cooking but that's just me. Overall it was a good meal but with abundance of great Italian in Fairfield county this would not be a top 10 for me probably not even top 20. I found it interesting that a fresh coat of paint, some pictures and a new name could draw this kind of crowd.

Lori E.

Yelp
Awful. Should have know when there was no one else there. Drinks were good.but overpriced. Food was bad. There were 2 tables in the whole place and we got the wrong check. Not good.

Angela P.

Yelp
Just eh. Everything was just eh. We had to send the calamari back because it was not edible. I had a special that was half over cooked and half under cooked and was really ugly lol. Just eh.

Ed I.

Yelp
Average at best, more likely below. Service was slow, and food was not as promised. Fried calamari was Sysco-level pre-battered frozen, "house made" gnocchi were definitely food service level and not house made (if they were, it was not worth the effort, as if was literally indistinguishable from the frozen gnocchi I can buy at a local Stop And Shop.) The octopus was excellent, both bites of it. Even marketed as a "tapas" sized portion, it was ridiculous to get about 3 tiny pieces of octopus each the size of a bottlecap. Not worth the 20 min trip to Westport.

Cheryl B.

Yelp
Hadn't been here in years.. but the new ownership management team is doing a good job. The same chef is doing great things with veal, seafood and happy to see that stuffed pepper on the menu (although it was awesome with the gorgonzola). Had a great reco on a beautiful wine and all dishes were really good.

Karen N.

Yelp
Great food and love the atmosphere. The owner makes sure you the customer are happy and the bartender makes a mean drink!! Perfect place for an intimate dinner.

D J.

Yelp
Not only the best Italian in this area but one of the best restaurants of any kind in the area. This is our #1 goto when we are in the mood for a great tasting dinner with exceptional service.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Wow wow, what a great experience. Food was delicious. Home made Pasta was out of this world, reminded me of my grandmothers cooking from Italy. Great Service and Massimo one of the owners was genuine. Love the tiramisu. Will def bring my friends back for a family dinner.

Love M.

Yelp
Delicious but the portions are so small! Spent enough for a whole weeks of groceries and left hungry. I know it's Westport but Italian means family, and Italians eat. I hate walking out of somewhere feeling jipped...

Tom G.

Yelp
This was one of the worst Restaurants in westport. Advertising was not clear and honest. I ordered a belveder martini,it came 3/4 full.asked to fill it,it came back with 1/2shot more charged 18.00 than the bill said titos...ordered tapas eggplant tower.it was not a tower, one layer of thin eggplant and a slice of mozzarella. Next ordered arugala salad with walnuts..one walnut Chopped very small 3 thin tiny pieces of pear And tiny, tiny, piece of gorgonzola. Very expensive, left hungry All 6 of us were very disappointed. Not going back...no star ,but yelp..asked for at least one.

Manish M.

Yelp
Portion sizes leave u walking out hungry after paying top dollar. Place is over priced. Food is decent but would be good to give more for what u paying for. Small place so felt rushed so they can turn around the tables. For what am paying i want to feel less pressure to hurry up to eat my small dish and leave. Wouldn't think twice before going back.

Jessica P.

Yelp
Came here to say I had the best meal of my life here last night. Will be back the next time I'm in Westport. The Mahi was divine, Service was amazing, wine was delicious. THANK YOU!! Oh and the pistachio gelato gets two thumbs up too. Not sure what the secret is to your sauces but I requested extra bread to keep eating them....

Tom M.

Yelp
First time customers to Bar Lupa and was unfamiliar with its predecessor- Rustico. Atmosphere is kind of dull inside......greeting upon our arrival was very warm & friendly. I thought the service was very good. Seem to have plenty of people working there. The Veal with mushrooms was an outstanding entre. The Italian Tapas selection was just so-so in my opinion. The place got busy which is a good thing and the staff seemed to handle it well.

Mike S.

Yelp
First time in...what an amazing experience. Great old school service. Excellent Italian wines by the glass. Great smaller portion dishes with attention to detail. Went back 2 days late for drinks at the cozy bar area.

Paul D.

Yelp
Bar Lupa is our favorite Italian restaurant in the area. Always an outstanding meal and a great time every time we visit. Absolutely the best service around and it always feels like we are part of the Bar Lupa family. Keep doing what you're doing Bar Lupa team! Paul D.

John G.

Yelp
Sat at the bar. Great bartender but the food was so underwhelming. Had a few " Italian Tapas" items - OK but nothing special. Had a pizza. Toppings were good but the crust, wow, as an Italian restaurant you should be embarrassed- was it a frozen crust from the supermarket?

Bridget D.

Yelp
The Pollo Bar Lupa is the best!! Wonderful atmosphere and an incredibly welcoming, fun place to spend the evening.

ChelseA C.

Yelp
Was just there with my kids and father in law... food was good, the staff was so kind...AMAZING drinks and really good atmosphere..Would recommend to anyone looking for a meal out!

Chris D.

Yelp
Feel the need to offset the fairly harsh and negative reviews so far, from the standpoint of a longtime customer. Rustico was our favorite Italian place almost anywhere in the world, so we were thrilled that the original owner and chef was part of the new equation. They are still ironing out the kinks with the new setup and I'm not sure if tapas is the long term answer or not, but the food is simply delicious and if you take the time to get to know Jose, CJ, and the crew, it will become a favorite of yours. They take the time to get to know their regular customers and make them feel really special. We're happy to support them in their transition and I'm confident the kinks mentioned in previous reviews will get ironed out and it will be a long time addition to the Westport restaurant scene. A very special place to us and many of our friends.

Rich P.

Yelp
Drove up from New Canaan to meet friends. Food was delicious. Tapas are a perfect size to start. Had the tortellini alla pana. Out of this world. My wife loved her sea bass. Very attentive staff and prices were reasonable.

Kathy M.

Yelp
Well prepared food and decent service but way too pricey for tapas given the portions So tiny, even for tapas and I am not a big eater. And a $2 charge to split a dinner salad and you get basically an ice cream scoop of salad? If you go, make a reservation and get an entree. If you want tapas go to Barcelona.

Marlene R.

Yelp
First visit to Bar Lupa last evening. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Food was prepared perfectly.Service was friendly and attentive. They make you feel like family from the moment you walk in.We will be regular visitors for sure.

Rob S.

Yelp
We love Bar Lupa and Jose and his excellent wait staff. This is the friendliest restaurant in Westport. The food is always good and the crew at Bar Lupa always makes sure we have a great time.

Cory G.

Yelp
Love this place, tapas are great and food is fresh! Went there 3 times and loved it every time! Fantastic service and people

Sophie C.

Yelp
This is fake Italian food. I myself am Italian and have grown up eating my parents Italian food and frequenting authentic Italian restaurants. This is not that. The calamari were stringy and low quality. The hearts of palm and the corn in the salad were mushy and tasteless. The tomato sauce for the gnocchi was so watered down it didn't even taste like tomatoes. This meal was VERY overpriced and NOT worth it. The atmosphere was a lot of older people who have probably lost their tastebuds. Overall this was one of the most disappointing meals I've ever had. There are so many other wonderful Italian restaurants to go to I don't know why anyone would choose this one.

M C.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I recently moved to the neighborhood from Norwalk. We tried this place on a whim - really based on curb appeal! We ate at the bar where we were treated like royalty by the bartender. The artichoke tappas was our absolute favorite dish. We could get enough. Other highlights were the calamari and steak tappas. Wine was delicious and overall just had a wonderful time in this warm, welcoming environment. With delicious food made with love to boot! We are already excited to go back.
