First time at Bar Margaret. The aesthetic of the place is super cute and artsy. Love the vibe. The staff was very friendly. The drinks are strong, very liquor forward, and very odd, but in a good way. For example, their old fashion is made with tequila. They also have absinthe here, which is unique. There were some drinks I had I didn’t love, and some that were very good. My favorite were the amaretto sour and the lemon drop martini. The food was delicious. Their burgers are very good and so was their Korean chicken bites appetizer and their truffle fries. I will say their “lil piggies” aka pigs in a blanket was very small and not filling so this would be good if you’re not hungry but just want something to nibble on. Overall I would say this place is worth the trip and you’ll know if the vibe is for you or not. It’s definitely artsy / niche and is a unique concept. I liked it and will be back! Thanks for the awesome service!

Bar Margaret is a charming, artsy spot tucked away in the West End of Greenville—perfect for a cozy night out or catching up with friends. While they’re best known for their creative cocktails, I opted for the “An Even Gooder Burger” and truffled fries. The burger was a bit too salty for my taste, but the fries hit the spot. I love the vibe and location enough to give it another try soon!

Google
One of many hidden gems of The Village in West Greenville. One of the best burgers in town and fries to boot! Onion rings are spectacular! Drinks are perfection. A local hangout spot with lots of character and a fun vibe. I’m a regular and neither the food nor staff have ever missed.

Google
Staggeringly good burger for $6. It's light on meat, which is great for me. Every part of the burger is intentional, fresh, and balanced. If you want a big meaty burger, this probably isn't for you, but I only had a single - they do have double patties. Cocktails are awesome as well. And the vibe is 100/100 🌈

I popped in on a whim, and I’m so glad I did—this place spoke to me. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the whole vibe was laid-back, artsy, and inclusive. I felt right at home from the moment I walked in. Our server, Alex, was fantastic. They took the time to chat with us about the drinks and even warned me about one that probably wouldn’t suit my taste—seriously appreciated the honesty and attention to detail. Alex made our experience even better with their kindness and knowledge. I ordered a plain White Russian, but the bartender added their own twist, and honestly? It was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The food was just as impressive—fresh, flavorful, and worth every penny. The artwork on the walls really caught my eye—some pieces gave off strong Tool vibes, and I could totally imagine sitting there with a drink, listening to Tool, and soaking it all in. I also love that they showcase local artists; it adds a genuine, creative touch. This spot is proudly LGBTQ+ friendly, and the energy reflects that—accepting, expressive, and real. I’ll definitely be back. Do yourself a favor and check them out!

I lived in West Village for nearly two years, and Bar Margret quickly became one of my favorite spots—not just for the incredible food, but also for the amazing staff. Chris, the owner, has done a fantastic job creating a fun, eclectic atmosphere, and his team always makes you feel right at home. Everything on the menu is fresh and delicious, including the vegan burger (which isn’t pictured here). My go-to drink is the Cola Fashioned, and they even make their syrups in-house! I recently moved to Atlanta, and I celebrated my farewell dinner at this cozy gem. I can promise you’ll love the experience!

Google
This place is amazing. I have never been to a restaurant that makes meals that are equally amazing for meat and non meat eaters. A good place if you want to meet with friends for dinner and drinks or if you just want a little down time to yourself. The atmosphere is very relaxing, the paintings and drawings are beautifully positioned. Food pricing is perfect. This is my new relax and dine location! The loaded fries looked so good I forgot to take the picture before we ate them. As you can see they were as good as they looked.

Google
I asked for extra ketchup and mustard, not the whole dang bottle on both sides of the buns. Charles is the cook. If he works, DO NOT EAT HERE!!

Yelp
Best burger in the upstate! Great quality and homemade poppy seed buns. My favorite burger in Greenville. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
I had high expectations of this place because I know what to expect from GBD, and I have to say that they totally delivered! My bartender was so nice...and, well, patient. I was indecisive except that I wanted a cocktail with vodka and food without cheese. I put the pressure ON this poor dude, and he did not disappoint!!! He asked how heavy the food should be, and I said medium, so he hooked me up with what I think was a cheeseless Hippie Burger & it absolutely hit the spot!!! Just stellar. But did the drink live up to my expectations?....YES. Very much so. I still have no idea what I got, but I told him it tasted like the smell of a Home Goods. If you're familiar with the store, it always smells light and airy and mildly floral, like how my drink tasted. It was fantastic, and I apologize that I can't tell you what it was. Will absolutely be back!!!

Yelp
Bar Margaret will remain a destination for my crew - the food we ordered, burgers, salads, apps, fries (oh my lord the fries) was delicious and a good value! A few disappointments were that the BAR was not open until dinner and that they no longer served brunch. (The brunch menu was amazing!) Be sure to make the tour around the place to see the lovely art - and for the Halloween season, don't forget to LOOK UP!

Sara S.

Yelp
We are a big fan of bar Margaret. Their burgers are to die for and they have such a fun drink menu. The staff is always nice and attentive. We will be returning!

Yelp
Discovered this place after visiting another bar across the street. Glad we went in and stayed for a bit. Sat at the bar in the back. Friendly and engaged bartender. Wait staff were nice. Had a draft beer, "damn good burger" as well as the "truffled up" fries. Good food. We will be back!

Yelp
never fails!! I wanted to write a review per my experience last night. TMI but take out food always gives me tummy aches, but last night I ate so much food from here and didn't feel that once! oh what joy!!!! the ingredients are so fresh, I called my order in and they even waited to drop the fries until I got there so they would be crispy. great customer service, great staff, great food. the korean bites are fabulous, the fries are just the right amount of salty, and the burgers are the best in town. such a great environment inside as well with lots of art, neon signs, good music and energy from staff. 100/10. love it. thank you BM!

Yelp
We were recommended to come here by the owner of a brewery. Super cool little bar with some dang good food! We came right as it opened. Went to the bar for some great cocktails and a snack. We got both! We got the korean chicken and sweet potato fries. It was a great snack! Service was great and super fun at the bar. Great little spot for a cocktail for sure!

Yelp
Not very good. Food wasn't good at all and overpriced. This is my review of the restaurant

Yelp
Cool concept but not home run for us. The alcohol free drinks were 10/10 and probably the main reason we would come back. The fries appetizer was most appropriately sized for a table if 4+ and given the sheer volume of fries but was light on the add ins since it was all on top rather than mixed in so a 7/10. The vegan burger special was an unfortunate 3/10 for us. The vegan cheese (like some type of potato/carrot deal) was minimally flavored and smothered over a very moist patty. The bun was gritty and lacking flavor on the outside while gummy from all of the extra moisture on the inside. It had large hunks of red onion rather than thinly sliced rings which made for very uneven flavor bites. I've never failed to finish a vegan burger much less half of a burger but even splitting it we couldn't bring ourselves to finish it. I really liked the vibe and hesitated to leave a review but I think that "good enough considering it's vegan" doesn't fly in 2023 and an item should be competitive in quality to any other item on the menu.

Yelp
A unique, funky-in-the-best-way kind of spot. The menu regularly rotates, so I try something new every time! This time I went for the Water Lily cocktail, and it certainly didn't disappoint. We nibbled on some house fries as well, though the garlic dipping sauce was by far the star of the show. Well, actually, make that a close second behind the decor. There are fun design elements scattered anywhere and everywhere your eye might turn--like the dancing skeletons along the window, a colorful mural behind the bar, and a bathroom covered in dog-themed art (in case you hadn't heard, "Margaret" is the owner's great dane). Definitely give this offbeat West Village spot a try!

Yelp
Well, I'm not sure what is going on with this place, but here is my Saturday brunch experience. My hubby and I walked in the door around 11a and were seated with only about 10 other patrons in the restaurant. By the way, brunch is 10a-2p. It took about 15 minutes for someone to take our order and another 30 minutes to get our food. Normally, waiting 30 minutes for food may not be that bad, but we got a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and breakfast tacos (see photos). Also, they were NOT busy at all. My biscuit was good, but really crumbly and fell all apart. After waiting all of that time my hubby's eggs were cold in his tacos. When we left around noon there were no other people in the restaurant, nor waiting to get in. We used to enjoy this place, their food and cocktails, however I think this place may be on its way out.

Claire J.

Yelp
A little pricey, but the food is great, staff is lovely, and it feels very inclusive.

James L.

Yelp
Really solid burger definitely gooder than most I've had around Greenville. Will be back on Tuesdays for their new cocktail tastings.

Yelp
Such a cool local spot in West Greenville! I had the veggie burger with fries and my fiancé had the breakfast bowl, both were DELICIOUS. The veggie burger is one of the best flavors I've had in a while and the fries were so good and crispy! The overall place had such a cozy, fun vibe and is a gem, we can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Fantastic service and delicious drinks. Our server April, and every employee we came in contact with, were all amazing. I got the Korean bites and House fries, and we had several of the cocktails. Definitely will be coming here again. Thanks April!!

Yelp
Had the Damn Good Burger and they're not lying. It is capital D, Damn good. The milk bread bun was slightly smaller than a normal bun which let the crispy edges of the double patties shine. A double patty perfection for 10 buck each?? That's pretty awesome as far as high quality shmancy burgers go. The fried onion rings on it were perfect. The bun was perfectly toasty. Had the chocolate peanut buttery Sex Bomb dessert which was super rich but awesome. Will be back!!

Yelp
I love this place. Thoughtful and delicious cocktails and wonderful service. Everything about this place is perfect from the drinks, food, music, and crowd. Our goal is to work out way through the drink menu visit by visit. Good strong drinks!

Yelp
Delicious drinks & bites in a fun setting! I tried the mezcaluna and the funky cocktail and both were great. The Korean chicken bites with shrimp crackers and fermented veggies was full of flavor. If you love pimento cheese, get the loaded fries. So yummy. The burger was a perfect bar burger featuring thin patties, an onion ring, burger sauce, and a poppyseed bun. Two appetizers and a split double burger left my husband and I very full! We got the slutty brownie to go.. The cookie dough, Oreos, and raspberry brownie made for a great treat. Our host and server were both very friendly and attentive. The bar is filled with funky art that's fun to look at. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Just had the new vegan veggie burgers with fries and DAMN! That was so good! Everything they do right now is GOLD. Wow, my wife and I have been coming here since it transitioned from GB&D. Now know as Bar Margaret. The first thing that comes to my mind is that the food, atmosphere, and service display consistent excellence. Recently I came to pick up their famous pre-mixed cocktails and they didn't have them in stock- so the owner literally went and made them at the bar for me. It was really cool to watch honestly. I recommend the margarita mix with mezcal. Can't wait to get back to going to the bar like normal times, but until covid goes away, this is as good as it gets. Anyway. This is a place we take our out of town friends. We do that because the drinks are great. The staff is excellent. And the aesthetics are wonderful. Come here During meal time and you may wait in line, but it is well worth the

Yelp
Tonight, a friend and I tried out Bar Margaret for the first time. Let me tell you, the fries are delicious and crispy! They taste so good dunked in the sauce they made. I got the Damn Good Burger and a bottled coke. The burger has 2 beef patties, American cheese, onion rings (yum!), their mayo...all in between their house made poppy seed bun. It was very tasty. Burgers were perfectly cooked. Had a lot of flavor and they were not dried out. The bottled coke just made it all taste better. Unfortunately I wasn't able to try any of their cocktails, but all the drinks they were bringing out to customers looked very tasty. Good atmosphere. Light music was playing which I really liked! I don't like going into a restaurant when they are blaring music and you cannot hear each other. I would come again to try some other things on their menu, their their Bahn Mi sandwich and a cocktail.
google avatar

Lark T.

Yelp
Delicious food and drinks- and always consistent, too! Love the atmosphere. The smash burger is the best in town.
google avatar

Geral N.

Yelp
Great ambiance and very friendly waiters. I'm not really a burger eater but I was encouraged to try one. I was really satisfied with the flavor of the burger!

Yelp
Finally! If I were to ever open and run a bar, it'd be a heck of a lot like Bar Mars. The ambiance is lighthearted, with cartoons painted on the walls. The drink glasses are a mix of what I'd expect to find in my grandparents home bar, crossed with a swanky 1950's/1960's hangout. It's small and cozy, and just the kind of place you'd like to just sit and spend some time. Don't mistake the lighthearted ambiance with the quality of what they serve, though. From ingredients to recipes, they take each of their cocktails seriously. Also serious are their choices of wine and beer. And although we just stopped in for a drink, their food menu is small looks worth coming back for...from a burger to pork belly bao...whatever my mood I'm sure to find something. I'd be remiss, though, if I didn't THE MUSIC. It was like stepping into my own head (not a place I'd dare most people to go ). I'm now inspired to go into the garage, dig out my old cassette tapes and records, and convert them to digital, specifically those gems that I haven't already replaced in digital form. Their menu mentioned I may hear some John Denver...which I did not in the brief time I was there...maybe next time, which will be soon.

Yelp
A great new bar concept from Alex George at GB&D and bar manager Chris George opening tonight, October 4th. It's connected to GB&D's space in the Village of West Greenville. It's a welcome addition to the local cocktail scene. The space is very cozy with a nice little area to lounge and a beautiful bar up front. Somehow the space looks way bigger than when it was occupied by the old Village Grind space. The walls are covered in a really awesome mural by @chuckfristian that invites a very fun and welcoming atmosphere to enjoy a few cocktails. We had a mezcolada which was a smoky icy mezcal take on a colada. It was great. We also had the Corpse Reviver #2. This was my favorite of the two drinks. Apparently their cocktail list is going to change seasonally so expect a fresh menu change soon! This was a long awaited addition to the Greenville bar scene so go check them out for their official opening tonight

Yelp
Went for lunch the food was delicious. We were able to order 3-4 different items to share and it was all good
google avatar

Erica H.

Yelp
An amazing cozy atmosphere. Hip waiters and servers that are super respectful! Wide range of things to choose from too on the menu! I forgot what I ordered but man was it amazing. I would really recommend this place (also they are lgbt friendly). Only small negative is the wait time but it was okay for me. [if you're here CHECK OUT THE COOL BATHROOMS]

Andrea R.

Yelp
We stopped in here for a quick bite before a movie and the staff was super kind and helpful, the food was delish and the cocktails we ordered were amazing. We got the Korean bites and I loved the freshness of the cucumber salad with the crunch of the shrimp crackers. The only thing I'd say is that the wait time for the food was ridiculously slow. We got there around 6:30pm on a Friday night, right before it got packed. We waited for our meals for over 45 mins. I dont know if this is a common problem, but over all we enjoyed it and will go back during the week when it's a bit slower.

Margaret D.

Yelp
Cute place but I went for the "damn good burger" and not so much, not so much of anything? It was the thinnest piece of meat I've ever seen. I didn't know it was possible to get a hamburger that thin, thinner than a pancake, closer the thinnest of a crepe and I'm talking about the meat. When I crave a burger, I want a burger, not something the flatness of 1 slice of deli meat seared to a crisp and put on a bun, very odd. I wanted a juicy medium rare tasty burger not a fried flat thing and I didn't like the music either. I don't get the concept.

Tara P.

Yelp
Best drinks I've ever had! We did not get food, but what was coming out smelled and looked great. The drinks however were amazing!
google avatar

Britany L.

Yelp
I love Bar Margaret! The drinks are thoughtfully crafted, the choice of beer selection and wines are all curated. The glassware is eclectic and fun. The music is a wide range of genres. The set up is warm and inviting. There is a real sense of community and acceptance. Bring your friends or you family or your spouse or just yourself and you will not regret it.

Laura T.

Yelp
Love the vibe and scene. Burgers are small but truly amazing - have had them on multiple occasions. Drinks are well done.
google avatar

Kacie R.

Yelp
Reeallllly good cocktails. The bartenders were helpful, the space is cool, and the drinks were great.

Nathan B.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite local bars. It's cozy, quirky, fun and super friendly with a great local crowd. Sarah, one of the owners, is an amazing human. And her staff rocks. The cocktails are so so yummy. And the hangover breakfast bowl is perfect when you need a little support in the morning. ;) If you like local, quirky, welcoming bars, this is the place for you! #lgbt #gaybar

Yelp
Great food and drinks. Wonderful staff! This is a great spot for West Greenville. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Really enjoyed the hot toddy I got here, wanted to try another drink and the dumplings but no one came back to our table for 40 minutes. Hate being that person to wave down the staff. Maybe it was just a busy night - I'd like to come back and give it another try. Really enjoyed the decor and environment!

Tammy L.

Yelp
Excellent service, creative cocktails and the food is amazing! I would recommend Bar Mars to everyone for any occasion.

Yelp
My favorite spot in Greenville. Best burger in town, phenomenal cuban, delicious drinks. Owned and run by good people. Eat there!

Kristin G.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and the fries are amazing! We had excellent service and great drinks! The bartender made great suggestions and created a special drink just for us based on our preferences. They even accommodated us when we requested a second order of fries after the kitchen had closed.

J K.

Yelp
Delicious cocktails and great service. Bar Mars offers creative variations of classic cocktails. The fun, easy going atmosphere and delicious food set this cocktail bar apart from the rest. I'll definitely go out of my way to visit again.

Cale G.

Yelp
Such a cool spot in West Greenville. Went on a Friday night with my wife and had a great experience. All of the bartenders were super friendly and our drinks were great. Definitely will be back.

Jared M.

Yelp
Walked in withy girlfriend on a Saturday night shortly after they opened. Bartender tossed me a drink menu and walked away without saying a word. Was there for 10 minutes and she never bothered to ask us if we wanted anything. Not the kind of service you would expect from a newly opened establishment

Harris H.

Yelp
My favorite bar in town. Great cocktail list with other options. Great atmosphere and staff is quick and helpful. I'm looking forward to what they will do in the future.
