Bar Merenda

Wow. Amazing impromptu lunch here which was sublime. Everything was superb. Stayed in the bar and ordered of the menu. To notch. Great wines selection too. Menu changes weekly work what is fresh that week. Will definitely return.

We were upstairs, where the room feels calm and intimate, with service finely tuned without hovering. We had the set menu, which unfolds at an easy, generous pace, and tried the local wine and the local vermouth in the martinis, a smart detail that quietly anchors the experience in place. Staff were genuinely attentive, warm, and well informed, the kind of care that lets the evening breathe 🤌 chef kiss. Ideal for people who appreciate local thinking done well.

Wonderful place! Was heavily impressed with the experience all around. To start it’s a gorgeous venue, feels very cosy and a perfect blend of relaxed and fine dining. Staff were lovely and welcoming and passionate about the food and wine. The menu was lovely each dish had a special touch to it that really gave it the fresh ‘grown in the back garden’ feel. Especially enjoyed the flathead fish and custard tart. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately the food didn’t meet expectations. We came for the Monday night menu ($65 p.p.)-the oysters were delicious and reasonably priced ($6 per oyster), the fish soup was also very tasty. However, the other items on the menu (terrine, ratatouille, green salad, pissaladiere) were lacking flavour and overly salted. The Monday menu changes weekly so we have just come on an off week, many of the locals gave Bar Merenda high praise so you could still give it a go if you’re in town,

Absolutely stunning meal, wonderful atmosphere and warm, attentive service. We had the set menu and appreciated how seasonal produce was a guiding factor. Unlike other restaurants with a set menu, the servings were paced out really nicely so we had enough time to savour everything and still felt like we had a 'breath' between meals. Absolutely everything was so delicious and the wines went down a treat. Whoever was DJing also needs a raise. Beautiful night, thank you especially to Paul our server who really made it for us!

We had a lovely afternoon lunch at Bar Merenda in picturesque Daylesford and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The tapas were delicious, beautifully presented, and perfect for sharing. Paired with a lovely wine, it made for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Made even for relaxing after our couple's massage at Soma next door. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with staff welcoming and friendly, making it a great place to unwind and spend quality time together. It was one of those lunches where you can slow down, savour the food, and enjoy good conversation. Overall, a wonderful spot for a leisurely lunch with great food, wine, and ambience. We’ll definitely be back.

After being welcomed and offered local wines/drinks we enjoyed the delicious 4 course set menu. It was delivered by friendly, efficient and knowledgeable waiters! Great menu that included a good variety and quantity of beautiful food, (catering for all allergies) Highly recommend the set menu experience at bistromerenda!

Heard lots of good things about this restaurant, that it is the best in Daylesford! And certainly did not disappoint! Came in on Saturday for dinner and the place was packed! We had the martinis to start and absolutely delicious with Galivanter gin from nearby Ballarat distillery. We ordered the chefs selection which allowed us to try most of the items on the menu. Love the cod crudo, beef tartare and ricotta gnudi. A shame we didn’t get to try the lamb. Definitely recommend any foodie to try this place!
