Wow! I just left and I gotta say, this place is magical. A rough yet friendly vibe when you walk in, greeted with a beer in stein once you sit down, and spoiled with the probably best octopus i had so far. Their simple yet fabulous tomato bread makes you excited for what is to come, but their whole menu is full of pleasant surprised

Google
A lovely local restaurant with a lot of history. The food was very good, featuring traditional Catalan dishes. The menu is simple and authentic, so don’t expect anything overly fancy. The owners were friendly and always smiling. The setting has the charm of a classic Barcelona bar-restaurant. The prices are a bit high for this type of food but understandable.

We had a lovely meal here in this very authentic and local tapas bar. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We got: smoked sardine, pan con tomate, patatas bravas, fried Brie and a bomba. The food was very tasty, my favourite was definitely the smoked sardine. The prices are very affordable too. To top it all off, the lady serving us put a birthday candle in our dessert and sang happy birthday. It was a very nice evening. 5 stars

Google
Truly a very authentic Catalan experience from the set up to the service to the local clientele and finally the most amazing food .. I would come back in a second. You absolutely need to book in advance, two services from 8-10 PM and from 10-12 with no feeling of being rushed by the staff.

What a lovely gem in Barcelona. Serving authentic and affordable dishes. Had an amazing time enjoying flavorful bites and perfect ambient. Would try for yourself! Recommend calling ahead to make a reservation and it can get crowded pretty quickly.

Google
Really good local bar! The food is tasty, the service very friendly and the desserts are just fantastic. We had pulpo, bravas, beef carpaccio. The place is pretty full especially during the weekend.

If you're looking for an authentic meal experience, this is it. Our server was absolutely lovely and really made our day even though communication was limited with our lack of Spanish. Food is simple yet excellently prepared, showing that good ingredients do not need more than that. Do expect Spanish menus and service.

Google
We came across this wonderful bar by accident when we stopped over in Barcelona as we travelled by train from England to Portugal to walk a stage of the Portuguese Camino de Santiago. The food and the atmosphere were so good, and the service so very friendly that we had to visiting again on our return journey. The food was of exceptional quality with the perfect, concise, range of options of really interesting dishes. Bar Ramon was very popular and we were lucky to get a table each time we visited, so next time we're in Barcelona we will telephone ahead to reserve a table and make sure we don't miss out!

Yelp
I really hate this phrase on Yelp. But I "really wish I could give this place 6 stars". Now that we got that out of the way. But after a 3 city trip to Europe, this is the frontrunner for my favorite meal. Was it the food? Was it the company? Was it the service? Was it the interaction with the owners? The answer to all of those is... YES! If you want a true neighborhood spot in Barcelona with delicious food, look no further. I will say the English translation would be tough. Not as tough with me since my wife speaks Spanish. Their tomato bread was the best I had. Their razor scallops were top notch. But the octopus and sardines were the show stealers for this meal. If you are in Barcelona and don't mind fighting the language barrier, come here hands down.

Yelp
Really nice place and atmosphere. I recommend for a good casual nights and lunch. I went there with my wife for a drinks and food I recommend to anyone.

Yelp
If you want a very authentic Spanish Catalan experience - definitely try Bar Ramón. Be mindful though that the staff does not speak English so be prepared with Google Translate or some elementary Spanish. We ordered a ton of food for our large group and my favorites were the avocado with prosciutto and dates, the duck, the lamb, and the steak. The white wine was also absolutely amazing as well. It's moderately priced (€€), but you get a ton of food for your money so it is a good value. The restaurant is a bit small so if you have a large group, try to go during a slower time so you can get seated. It's a very local restaurant, so feels very Catalan! Definitely try out Bar Ramon!

Yelp
One of my top 3 meals while in Spain. Small neighborhood joint that gets packed pretty quick. I would recommend reservations. Our waitress, who I think might be the owner, was super friendly and attentive. Mind you, she was waiting on everyone!! And the whole time looking around to see who needed what. The rabbit ribs were great tasty little morsels. The steak with foie was delicious. Do yourself a favor and get it. The octopus "arm" was perfection. Maybe the best octopus I've ever had. Super tender and flavorful. She brought out a dessert layered with cream and a filo dough that was the perfect ending to a night of cold beer and delicious food. I would highly recommend this gem. Go and ENJOY!!!

Yelp
Excellent food and the best meal we had while in Barcelona. They only serve small plates which is great because you get to try more things. Wonderful and attentive service. Good to know some Spanish as the staff doesn't know English.

Yelp
Pretty awesome place! Loved the decor and the food was also pretty yum. Staff was very accommodating (and funny may I add). But, they speak very limited English so...Google Translate menu! Orrrr....just pint and nod with the waitress like we did :) Our waitress recommended the wine and it went pretty well with everything we ordered. It was also kept in a nice cooler on our table, whichhhh I wished was a lot bigger btw...but yeah, I think if I could, I would give this place between 3 & 4 stars. Food: Garlic Prawns (Gambas Ajillo) I think the shrimp was a bit overcooked, but the sauce was pretty awesome. I liked dipping the bread in it. House Meatballs (Albóndigas de la Casa) It was pretty solid, could use more flavor though Rabbit Ribs (Costillas de Conejo) Probably my favorite dish here (sorry bunnies)! Steak with Foie Gras (Filete con Foie) Not a big fan of foie so I guess my opinions may be a bit biased for this, but the steak was nice! Bomb (Bomba) I can't tell whether I just ate too much or this bomb was kinda too heavy for me. Toasted Bread with Tomato Could be more toasty/less soggy~

Yelp
I've been eating my way through Spain and France and only now have some time to catch up on my reviews. I'm glad I got a new phone and took photos of everywhere and everything I've eaten. I had sent out a Yelp talk thread when I arrived and received some good suggestions, and one of them was Bar Ramon. Most people eat pretty late and we only had breakfast that morning before catching the train, so we were pretty hungry. I translated a recent review of this place from local Yelper Sarah G, and it sounded great! We ordered a great bottle of wine and just started ordering. Our server, Yolanda?, was great since my Spanish was not very good and her English was the same, so mi amigos! My favorite would have to be the meatballs, but everything was good. The "bomba" was an interesting mix of potato and cheese, and I loved the cheese stuffed mushrooms! She also brought out the dessert tray which makes it all the more tempting. This woman really knew how to work a table. We ordered the chocolate mousse cake and lemon cheesecake. Both satisfied the sweet tooth! It was starting to get crowded and we watched a table of Japanese tourists ordering and looking through their translation books. They play some great jazz music which seems to be their vibe and it works. I wanted to come back, but there was so much more to try so another visit will have till next time!

Yelp
This place came back as top 5 places for tapas in the Barcelona guide book we bought as well as on eater.com so we had high expectations. Our hotel was able to make reservations the day of which you definitely need as it's small and fills up. The food overall was good, but I would keep venturing for amazing tapas. The pan con tomate bread was too dense and not crusty enough for the full effect. The croquettes were well made as well but the bomba was soggy and not hot all the way through. Our waitress recommended the octopus (it was double the price of anything else on the menu). It was a nice texture but over salted. The pimientos were really tasty I'd recommend them. We were a little disappointed with the 'house wine' that was recommended to us because it was cheap and good. It was a merlot- you think they'd sell a cheap Spanish wine but oh well. The staff was very nice but I don't think this place is worthy of the best you can get in Barcelona as we read before going.

Yelp
This was a great place just down the street from where we stayed! They were very accommodating and attentive. Food was amazing! We had the squid arm, bombas, chaminiones -( mushroom with cream cheese and Jamon on top), avocado with salmon, razor clams, and the egg plant with some sort of ground beef and and cheese on top. Everything was wonderful and would very much so recommend if you ever visit Barcelona! Reservations are needed but very much worth it! They also gave us other recommendations for food and attractions while we are in Barcelona.

Yelp
The food and the atmosphere were wonderful! I would definitely recommend calling ahead for a reservation. After we were seated, they were turning people away almost our whole stay because it was too busy. If I'm ever back in Barcelona I would definitely go here again!

Yelp
Great service and food! Service was great & food suggestions were spot on! I would easily recommend this little restaurant. Recommend calling for reservations! We went on a late Tuesday evening and we had to sit at the bar. Very busy

Yelp
This place sums up why Barcelona has such a fearsome reputation for good food. We hapless tourists happened upon it whilst randomly walking around, and encouraged by the cool-looking interior, decided to try out this local-filled tapas bar. This is definitely more bar than restaurant, but boy was the tapas good. Very simple, simply delicious: steak with foie gras, Barca-style patatas bravas, even the bruschetta was delicious. Our host Yolanda was so nice to us, despite the language barrier (little English on her part, hand-written menu only in Spanish), she was happy to put up with our confusion and was utterly charming. The bill was almost absurdly small. Oh for a place like this back in Manchester. The next day, we had the same problem: needing food and having nowhere to eat. We simply went back here and repeated the experience.

Yelp
This is probably the only place we dined where absolutely no English was spoken. Not for your typical tourist. It's a neighborhood joint, complete with a large selection of tapas, beer wine and of course, vermut. My favorite dish was an octopus salad, although everything was superb. Our waitress was really sweet and at the end of our meal, gave us a shot of their house made grappa, which was surprisingly smooth and a nice ending to a great meal. The overall look/feel of the restaurant has and American jazz/blues/soul music theme, but didn't feel cheesy, but rather reflective of the owners' love of obscure American music.

Yelp
Wonderful food! We had the Bomba, foie toast, octopus, garlic shrimp, salmon, and pan con tamate. The Bomba was really delicious and tender with a sauce on top reminiscent of chohula sauce. The foie toast was exceptional. Steak was cooked perfectly and the foie on top just melted. So delicious. The octopus was another highlight - grilled and served with a spiced oil and some flaked salt. Altogether a really good meal. The woman who was serving was great. Super friendly and put up with our limited Spanish. They have an English menu but don't speak a ton of English.

Yelp
Best place I've eaten tapas in Barcelona! After reading all the positive reviews about Bar Ramon I had to experience for myself. A 12min walk from Fira Palace Barcelona, I walked into the bar thirsty for a beer. The owners were extremely nice and greeted me by saying "hola" as they do with everyone who walks into the bar/restaurant. The tapas I tasted were delicious and that does not include the dishes on the menu from the kitchen. I could imagine the delicious meals that are prepared for you to enjoy. My experience was great, I give it 5 stars for the local favorite bar.

Yelp
My absolute favorite in Barcelona! Having the cold crisp pilsner served in cold ceramic mugs is something I dream about. The rabbit and shrimp are spectacular. I go here 1-3 times everything I visit Barcelona.

Yelp
Showed up at 8pm on a Weds, without a reservation and took a seat at the bar. Ordered three tapas: pan tomate which was fine, filet with foie which was above average and the meatballs which were great if you avoided the meatballs and just slopped up the veggies and caldo they came in. The tall bald bartender was curt and utterly disinterested and had the charm of an infected blister. Given the high demand for seats so early on a random weekday, something must be added to the ambiance with the crowds that arrive later. I thought it was fine for the price. Could be they are in an end of the season slump?

Yelp
My Valencian friends invited me to dine with some family and friends while I visited Barcelona. They promised good food and a cute chubby cheeked kids. They delivered. I had already eaten lunch, so I didn't want to eat much, but there is a pushy Spanish mother in everyone. Eat this! Eat this! Try this! And I had to lift weights immediately afterward. I tried their Bombas. I can't pass up battered and fried ham with potato puree. That would be it, except I had to try the foie gras, which was a flattened steak topped with decadent foie gras. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, the company, and the jazz inspired atmosphere and decor. I must find more hidden gems. Suggestions, locals?

Yelp
I loved the tomato toasts and garlic shrimp. We came mid afternoon so we didn't have to wait for a table. The service was mediocre. I had to flag someone down to order, to get water refills and the check. It's definitely not a touristy spot, so you can dine away from the cruise ship crowds! I'd come back to try more things on the menu.

Yelp
It isn't a restaurant, but it's a very good bar with a nice selection of food. The music is excellent, and the sound system is great. No James Brown song that you're hearing for the 1000th time--just hit after obscure hit of jazzy, bluesy soul and R&B. I got two selections from the case at the bar, and I was dismayed to see that they went into the microwave, instead of into an oven. I did, however, enjoy them both, with a refreshing clara. I got a really nice portion of cod that would've cost twice as much in the U.S., accompanied by a few sundried tomatoes. The cod was a bit too heavily salted, but very edible. And the second dish: layers of beautifully luscious herbed potato, tuna, and cheese which resulted in the most perfectly gooey comfort food. If ever I am seeking comfort in this fair city, I now know where I shall turn!

Yelp
This was our first meal in Barcelona & we loved it. The waitress/owner was friendly, helpful & adorable. This is definitely not a tourist spot which allows it to hold onto much of its charm. It's one of those places that stops serving certain items once it's done for the day & the menu is either in Catalán or very poorly translated English (which I appreciate & see it as a testament to its authenticity). Drinks: we went with a local red wine our waitress recommended & it was delicious! Food: The mushrooms with...some kinda creamy whipped cheese thing on top... is mouth wateringly delicious, as are the meatballs (very flavorful), ceviche (which they call esqueixada) & lava cake dessert. Overall, certainly worth a stop!

Yelp
Excelente food and drink. It does get very busy and it's quite small so table reservations are mandatory. Call a day before or a couple if possible. It's worth it!

Yelp
Had a great lunch here. Loved the razor clams and other great tapas, and my wife loved the fresh mushrooms.

Yelp
Great tapas beer and wine! My favorite was the gambas con ajo (shrimp and garlic). Nice vibe place with great owners!

Yelp
Great local spot that our house manager, Zara, told us about. It's not in a touristy part of town, I'm pretty sure we were the only foreigners there. Either go early or call ahead for reservations. We showed up just after 8 and almost didn't get a table even though the place we empty. When we left just before ten every table and bar seat were occupied. It's a tapas joint which means small plates to share at reasonable prices. I think we shared 7 plates between three of us and it was the right amount of food. In particular I liked the mini shrimp, the meatballs and the calamari. Our bill was 80 Euros which included two bottles of rioja. Yum.

Yelp
Really excellent food. A bit intimidating for some. The tapas lined up at the bar are some of the best I've had in this city. Reservations a must.

gina C.

Yelp
Fantastic service, great tapas! Desserts were not stellar. Chocolate lava cake wasn't warm enough. But I love this place. Get the garlic shrimp!!

Santiago C.

Yelp
Everything at Bar Ramon was great. First of the food was one of the best tapas we had in Barcelona. The fact that the hostess and chef are siblings and co-owners of the place makes it a great place since they really care about their customer experience. Finally, the crowd that this restaurant attracts is mostly locals which makes it a hidden gem for tourists that like to enjoy the true flavors of a city and not the mainstream attractions.
