From November to May, guests can hop on a daily boat in front of the Beach Club to watch dolphins and whales at close range. An infinity outdoor pool and on-site water sports activities are also available.The villas and cabanas available are simple but well-furnished. Each comes with a seating area and a private garden. The private outdoor bathrooms are equipped with cold-water showers.Bar Reef Resort is a 1-hour drive from Wilpattu National Park, famous for its leopards, elephants and bears. We came to Bar Reef for the first time since it opened from COVID, the experience has been excellent. The resort is in a location that gives a perfect sense on tranquillity and relax. They offer a wide range of services and tours catering to your every need. Extremely nice and friendly staff who are willing to give a hand whenever you need. We especially found ourselves extremely well with Sampath and chef chamila who were always curious to ask how we are, see how they could help us, and what they can do to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Would recommend this location to anyone who is wanting to visit Sri Lanka.

Quiet resort, recently completely renovated, with spacious, tastefully furnished cabanas (no hot water!) featuring open-air bathrooms. Comfortable bed with good pillows and a large mosquito net; we didn’t need air conditioning (though it is available). Stunning sunsets over the sea can be enjoyed from the infinity pool. A great manager oversees everything and can arrange tours for you. The chef steals the show with fresh, well-prepared food—try the whole grilled fish, seasoned with local herbs; it was absolutely delicious!

Amazing stay at Bar Reef Resort! Relaxing and romantic atmosphere, nice and very clean rooms with open air bathroom. But the best part was the team, especially Sampath. He made our stay very special. He was funny and attentive, gave us great advice when it came to choosing dinner (the fish curry served by the pool in the palm pavilions was absolutely amazing), and he was really eager to learn more German. He was happy about every new word we taught him. :) Such a great guy!

We had two wonderful nights at Bar Reef Resort. The beach cabanas were truly amazing, and the salt water infinity pool was lovely for a morning swim. Plus, it was long enough for some swimming exercises. The authentic Sri Lankan rice and curry was amazing. ||The whole team was incredibly kind and attentive. Sampath, in particular, made the experience truly splendid. He was funny, keen to approve his German, and we practiced a little :) He was also very friendly, kind and attentive. We are definitely planning to return for our next holiday in Sri Lanka.

I stayed for two weeks at Bar Reef Resort in Sri Lanka and had a genuinely positive experience. The property has clearly been renovated with care — the architecture blends natural materials with a modern, minimal aesthetic, which gives the entire place a calm, relaxed atmosphere. The rooms and common areas feel spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed. A special mention goes to Sambedh, one of the staff members. He is exceptionally dedicated, proactive, and always ready to help without being intrusive. Whether it was arranging small requests, answering questions, or simply checking in to ensure everything was fine, he consistently delivered outstanding service and left a strong impression. The pool area is one of the highlights — large, quiet, and surrounded by greenery, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a long day. The ambience is serene, especially in the evening when the lighting and atmosphere create a very relaxing mood. Overall, Bar Reef Resort offers a comfortable, well-maintained environment with attentive service and a peaceful setting. A great place to stay if you’re looking for a calm retreat in this part of Sri Lanka.

This place perfectly blends rustic simple elegance. It’s comfortable, spacious and tropically slow. They execute everything just as it should be done! The service has the right touches giving you space while being attentive! We were looked after by Sampa and he was first class! Friendly upbeat with great attention and customer care, really made the stay! It’s really well designed with lots of great places to hangout you can be social or inconspicuous. This place punches above its weight for sure!

Bar Reef Resort is thoughtfully designed to make your experience extra special - the rooms and outdoor spaces are luxurious, spacious and super comfortable. The pool area offers total relaxation and the staff are always around and happy to help. We felt right at home with Sampath and the other staff members being extra friendly and accommodating. The sea view is breathtaking and every space is well kept -- daily house keepers clean the rooms which is an added luxury. There isn't much around the hotel but that didn't matter for a 4 day trip as we didn't need to leave!

The resort was excellent, with beautiful huts and outstanding service throughout our stay. What truly set it apart was the personal engagement of the staff (e.g., Sampath) , who interacted with guests authentically and with genuine personality, creating a feeling of being at home rather than in a hotel. We also had the pleasure of spending time with the owner, Dallas, who generously shared the inspiring story of Sri Lanka, the resort’s journey, and his own personal experiences. This added a meaningful and memorable dimension to our visit.
