This a small in essence simple, very modest place located in a narrow alley close to the harbor. Besides one dish of fried chicken the menu consist of only seafood, one grilled whole octopus, fried gambas and 5-6 variants of fish, all grilled/fried. For sides you get to choose between the abundant canary potatoes or fries and as extra a tomatosallad, thick slices of tomatos and likewise sliced onion in a low quality olive oil and an excess of cheap vinegar, undersalted and no pepper added. The tomatos needed it sorely as they, as often and to my surprise in Teneriffe, are watery and tasteless from start.
Anyway, besides the salad we ordered - each - a "hake" filet, each as my primary wish "fish of the day" according to the lady was "finished" and showed up to be tuna, exactly the same as another dish on the menu which I already decided against (knowing it often ends up dry and laboreous to chew, if not cooked perfectly). The "hake" turned to be a sizeable filet of some white fish, although definitively not hake. The taste was dry and underwhelming and it was clearly overcooked, not by much but in this context "not by much" turns the texture to dry. Now and then large salt crystals crushed between the teeth interspersed with bites lacking of salt.
No this food is not worth a visit (in fact our second in 2 years but the high star rating made us think that the previous visit just had to be a freak accident). All dishes are this plain - f ex we saw a lady at the adjacent table served a plate with 2 big whole octopuses, grilled and nothing more and I saw her laboring with fork and knife to cut it up. She really had my sympathy as she sat there alone.
The service is slack and uninterested and I was not asked how I found the food to be. Price pretty cheap, the two fishes, salad (and a big roll of white bread) + 2 small beers: 21 euros.
Bordering to El Cine in the same alley you find Abordo: GO THERE!!!
