Bar Seddon

Wow, I came to San Telmo for some pictures and ran into this beautiful place by chance. The food is very good but the service and the atmosphere is simply another level in comparison to other restaurants. I have been in Buenos Aires for one week already and I simply felt at home at this place. I would definitely recommend not only for the food, which was pretty good, but for the experience. Thumbs up for this place and for Ivan the waiter in charge!!

What started as a wonderful service, faded in "we forgot about you" moment. We never got out cerveza menu that we ordered (only got 1 of 2 beers). The place is outdated and not clean. Tables are sticky! Prices are midrange, zero atmosphere, food is 6/10.

The pizza was excellent. Great crust, flavorful spices, and great mozzarella. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was calm compared to similar places on neighboring streets. I got the largest caipirinha I have ever had.

Good meat, stylish interior. In Buenos Aires the meet is almost always good, so any place is satisfaction 😄 Paid around 70$ for two stakes and 4 beers. I think it’s overpriced, like almost every place here. BTW, it’s okay to have a lunch.

Nice interior design and good service but the food is ok. There was a hair straw in our empanada. They did send a new one when we showed it.

Wonderful authentic atmosphere, attentive service. The mojito was definitely up to scraps, the Ceasar salad perhaps not. Enjoyed the music

We stopped in for a quick adult beverage before our tour at the El Zanjon museum down the street. Wife and I each had a glass of wine. While we waited they gave us a free small plate of tasty French fries. Bar takes you back in history as the bar counters are authentic and they play smooth jazz throughout. Staff and bartender were very pleasant.

Stopped in here to have a little lunch on our walk through the city. We ordered the Queso Empanadas and after about 1/2 hr of waiting they came out. They were so hard we could barely cut them with a knife. And they were not queso they were beef and it was so dried out we couldn’t even scrap the insides to eat that part. Very slow staff and didn’t seem to excited that we were there. Try the pizza place across the street. They seem to be doing way better business. Now we know!

Bar Seddon in Buenos Aires is a charming spot with a cozy yet stylish atmosphere. While I didn't eat there, the drinks were fantastic, expertly crafted and full of flavor. The bartender was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, It's a great place to unwind after a day of exploring the city, and I would definitely recommend it for a delightful evening out!

Gayle and I had an early dinner at Bar Seddon on our first day in Buenos Aires. Early meant 8 PM and were were almost the only customers in the place. Only one waiter spoke a little English, but Gayle's months long Rosetta Stone Spanish lessons paid dividends. We found that unlike the French, Argentinians appreciated the effort to speak Castellano. We ordered appetizers, including the biggest cheese plate we've ever seen and a couple of empanadas. We then split a steak, a beer, and some wine, which rounded out our tasty meal quite nicely. There were lots of stuff on the menu, so no one will go hungry here. And compared to US restaurant prices, Argentina meals are a real bargain (including the customary 10% tip). We also enjoyed the historic neighborhood vibe and invites folks to hang around for awhile. Our only regret was not being here later when the action really starts.

Great historic bar in San Telmo with cold beer and tasty food. I loved sitting at the bar and soaking up the atmosphere while munching on delicious baked empanadas. If you're looking for something more substantial, Bar Seddon offers a decent lunch and dinner menu. I enjoyed some homemade ravioli (sorrentinos) with a rich 4-cheese Alfredo like sauce. The pasta was done perfectly al dente and stuffed with flavorful filling. One of my companions ordered the steak (bife de chorizo), which was char grilled to perfection. I've visited only during the daytime, when the bar is pretty quiet, but I hear business really picks up late at night. Give it a try if you're in San Telmo!

This place was a find. We came during the day, late lunch. We were lured in because the decor of old and rustic; it really appealed to us. But it turned out the food was very good too!! The "rabas" (fried calamari ) were so tender that it was hard to believe you were not at a place by the shore. We didn't try the regular meals, just the pizza and some salads, both very good as well.

While Seddon's history stretches back to 1980 (not a long stretch), it was located on the 700 block of 25 de Mayo, on that downtown strip of bars and restaurants. In 2001 it relocated to this spot on a corner on the border of Monserrat and San Telmo (they claim the latter, though according to the map, they're on the Monserrat side of the line). Interesting to note that at a mere 37 years old they've garnered a spot on the the historical Bars Notables list - I always sort of assumed that was reserved for places that had been around for like 50-100 years or so. I wonder if they're getting some credit for the space, which clearly has been around, as a pub, a lot longer than just 16 years. Seddon also has a second location up in San Isidro that's been open since 2011. Service is a bit scattered, and the kitchen is "slow as molasses in January". Visited with two lunch companions (my brother and his wife, visiting from Sydney), and we ordered up a burger (there's only one on the menu, the Hamburguesa Seddon, yet still the waiter asked me which of the burgers I wanted, and when I pointed out there was only one, he started flipping through the menu looking for "the other ones that I'm sure are here"), a bondiola (pork shoulder) sandwich, and a vegetable and chicken stir-fry. They took 45 minutes to get to the table, despite there being few other people in the room. The stir-fry was fine, the pork sandwich arrived with just a slab of pork topped with bacon on a sort of mini-baguette, and missing the menu promised saute of mushrooms and onions - the waiter seemed surprised we brought it up, but did, to his credit, whisk it away and return just a short 4-5 minutes later with it properly topped. On to the burger. The biggest problem is there's just too much stuff on it in relation to the meat. The patty itself is quite small, and a bit dense, although decently seasoned, but it simply disappears under a tidal wave of cheese, greens, tomato, bacon, egg, onions, and more. The fries are actually very good, nice and crisp outside and soft on the inside, the way a decent fry should be. Still, this one rates no more than an average burger, even for a pub.

Bar Seddon is an historical style restaurant with an old look complete with dark wood and antiques and it has yet to be really gentrified, fortunately. My only complaint is they play techno-babble music that is absolutely annoying. Please play music for your customers, ie, don't let the kitchen staff pick the music. Perhaps at night techno is ok, but at lunch when people try to talk? You would have more of my business if this were changed. ps. Upgrade your coffee please. With all the nice coffee in San Telmo you should follow their lead.

We loved this spot. Super hipster and tourist friendly. The food is great for quick bites before a nite out. We had the calamari and garlic fries which were a really decent size. We ordered a third item and were really full before it came out. The beer is decently priced and the staff is super friendly. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for bites before a night out. Also the atmosphere is super. It almost feels medieval with all with the candles and the statue decor all around. Love it!

This place is charming. It has a very relaxed atmosphere. I love the jazzy lounge music. The host and wait staff are very polite and friendly. I ordered steak and salad. This place is amazing.
