Amazing! Our evening was so enjoyable and so much of that we owe to Chris and his team! Michelle was our driver/Wagoner and she made the ride so fun with her experiences and stories she shared. The food was delicious! We were thankful they urged us to go back for seconds. (We didn't need much convincing). The covered wagon ride was very fun! It was fun to meet other families from around the country in town on vacation like us! We hope to make this an annual tradition (and our kids all want to come back and work there)

Google
Wonderful experience! Staff went above and beyond to assist an elderly gentleman in wheel chair. They were friendly, kind and courteous. Atmosphere was great! The owner did a great job including everyone and making them feel welcome. Food was amazing.10/10 Only word of advice, bring bug spray. Once the sun started setting there was alot of mosquitoes.

Bar T 5 Review We really enjoyed our time at Bar T 5—it was a unique experience and a great way to wrap up our trip. It was fun to see the chuck wagons and the horses, and it gave us a glimpse into how things were done back in the day. The horses were massive, which added to the authenticity of the experience. The food was decent, but the hot chocolate stood out—it was excellent. The live entertainment was fun and added a lively touch to the evening. Just a heads-up: the smell isn’t exactly pleasant. With that many horses, there’s a lot of... well, you’ll see. So be prepared for plenty of "natural byproduct" around. Overall, I’d recommend giving Bar T 5 a try if you're in the area. It’s a fun, family-friendly activity, and a good way to spend your final evening in town.

Google
Great evening with talented & friendly staff at every level. Well organized, uniquely entertaining, food was perfect. The covered wagon ride was fun & added to the Western theme. Hope we can bring friends next time.

Google
The Bar T5 was a super fun experience. A covered horse wagon through the mountains with good people, good music, and good food. Our guide who was controlling our wagon and horses was super nice, answered all questions, and fun! The Bar T5 band was really good to listen to and the fiddle player was great!! Good time with a lot of smiles and laughs. Definitely recommend for all ages!!

Google
So much fun! Awesome experience for the whole family. Every single staff member we encountered was awesome, super friendly and always willing to help. The weather was perfect for our 6 pm dinner reservations so we were treated to a fantastic sunset over the Tetons on the ride back!

Google
What an amazing experience I had with my family. Worth every penny. Go for the entertainment and ride up the canyon. The food is good enough.

Google

Yelp
I had a lot of fun at the Bar T 5 Covered Wagon Cookout. After spending a whole week hiking and exploring Grand Teton National Park, I was looking for something more relaxing to do to close out my time here in Wyoming. I have been to quite a few cowboy cookouts in my day and this looked like fun. Bar T 5 takes you out on horse-drawn covered wagons to a remote area where you are treated to dinner and a show. They have been doing this show since 1974. The meeting place itself is in the outskirts of Jackson. After checking in, you are given a brief history of the area and an overview of the schedule. There is a gift shop on hand and you can see some of the horses in the corral. After loading up on the wagon, you ride a couple miles to Cache Creek Canyon. Along the way, some outlaws ride up on horses to try and "hijack" the wagons. Once you arrive, you are seated until you hear the dinner bell ring to tell you food is ready. Dinner includes barbeque pork medallion, roast beef, salad, baked beans, corn, bread and a brownie. Food is served buffet style and isn't too bad. They allow seconds once everyone is served. I enjoyed the entertainment. The Bar T 5 band plays some old country songs mixed in with a little humor. They try to provide a setting that reminds you of the days of singing songs around a campfire. The girl on the fiddle worked the crowd and was the best part. I'm a big camper and love the outdoors and glad I signed up for this. This fun little cowboy cookout was a great way to finish up my week long trip to Jackson.

Yelp
Not sure why all the five star reviews other then the price is good for dinner, trail ride, and show. The trail ride was the only good part of the evening. The "show" was like attending a bad talent show in high school while eating lunch in the school cafeteria. I would rather pay more and have better food or pay the same skip the food and have better entertainment. Maybe if they made it more comical making fun of food and entertainment. They will not cancel even in bad weather so be prepared to get stuck longer than expected to accommodate hail and lightning.

Yelp
I've done alot of things in Jackson Hole but this was one of the most fun! So glad i got to go tonight! The staff was fantastic, the food was incredible, and the entertainment was terrific! When you're up in the area, i highly recommend!!!

Yelp
This was a wonderful family experience - wholesome fun for all ages. I highly recommend it to any families visiting the Grand Teton/Jackson area.

Yelp
The pros:This was a fun experience for my family. The horses are beautiful and very hard working. Our guide was great and very informative. The baked beans were fantastic as well as the hot chocolate. The other items served for dinner were just okay. Warning: if you are allergic to bees be very careful when getting lemonade there were a lot of bees on and around the table. The show needs better jokes and a better sound system. It was hard to hear clearly what was being said as it was vey muffled most of the time. The young ladies in the band were very talented and very entertaining. Cons: I am not a horse owner and not sure what kind of care is required for these animals. We did hear one of the guides mention that the animals are never put in a barn or under shelter even during the winter. Overall it was fun experience and I would definitely do it again.

Yelp
Overall, it was an entertaining experience. The show was nice and the food was "okay" - and that's where I think they can ramp up the efforts a bit to improve the food quality so it's less cafeteria styled quality and a bit more fresh, moist and tasty. If it costs more, I feel, if they added $20 per person to the cost/price but had hands down top notch food with a bit more diversity as well, and got the rave reviews, their business would grow and profit margins would increase despite straying away from cheaper lower cost food that's quick to prepare. The staff were friendly, which is always a plus.

Yelp
A must do on your trip to Jackson Hole. Truly a great addition to our trip. Wranglers were very knowledgeable and shared so much of their knowledge of horses. Food was delicious and show was very entertaining. Beautiful sunset ride back.

Roby W.

Yelp
If you like silver dollar city, with the Dixie stampede vibe, this is your dinner place. Family friendly with good music. Wagon ride was perfect at sunset returning back to base camp. Food was camp food so nothing fancy but good. I would recommend

Yelp
Super friend owner (Chris). He made the evening super fun. We went in July (4:45pm). There was a warm breeze as we were eating dinner, it was great. The food was ok. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see them cook it (which is totally ok bc there were so many mouths to feed). Overall, super fun experience, I would recommend it!!

Randy C.

Yelp
5 stars, great time, grandkids, parents, others, highly recommend!!!!! music was fun

Yelp
My family and I would probably consider this event a one time thing. The "pre-show" included an interesting backstory on the land and people who lived in that area a while back. Riding in the wagons was extremely fun having two horses pull you up. They even have names for the horses and the "driver" was very kind and talked a bunch. The dinner was a meh for us. The meat tasted weird however the drinks, beans, and dessert were amazing. People were even asking for the bean recipe after! The show definitely made up for the dinner with a lot of interactiveness and great songs! All the workers there were very kind and energetic. On the way back we even got to see a beautiful sunset from the wagon. Overall I'd say come for the ride and show not the dinner.

Yelp
Very entertaining and lovely business. The people care here and it's evident from the start. Be prepared for a "chuck wagon meal" (photo attached). They're feeding more than one hundred people on a mountain but just be aware if you have a sensitive stomach. The fiddler was absolutely amazing and the music made for a great night. The ride back was also beautiful. Overall fun tourist experience and no regrets for a first trip to Jackson.
google avatar

Yelp
We have done several of these chuckwagon dinner shows over the years and we were excited for this one after reading the reviews. Sadly this one isn't on par with what we have experienced in the past. The food was okay at best, the meat wasn't palatable but the sides were decent. The sound system was terrible, we couldn't understand anything that was spoken by the man leading the show (one of the owners). The music was done well but the vocals were quiet and hard to understand. The wagon ride to and from the venue was fun. Best for families with young kids.

Yelp
Such a fun activity!! My husband and I watch all the old westerns, so when we saw this involved a ride in a covered wagon, we knew this was for us! The meeting area as well as the pavillion where dinner was served were both clean and well maintained. The horses seemed to be cared for, too. We met at their "office" and then loaded into the waiting covered wagons, about a 10 minute ride. Dinner was ready when we all arrived...roast beef and pork tenderloin, salad, corn, really good BBQ beans, dinner roll and a brownie for dessert. There were various drink options such as coffee, water, lemonaid and hot chocolate. After our meal there was a family friendly show with some talented young preformers. This is a great activity for people of all ages. Highly recommend
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
Pretty entertaining show, but the food was sub-par at best. Do not eat the pork. For the love of God, do not eat the pork. It is suuuper chewy and tough. The fiddle player was amazing, the horses were beautiful, and the vibe was chill. Again, however, the food is just... ick. The bathrooms at the dining site are disgusting for what you pay. And they perform some churchy music during the show, so you should also know that.
google avatar

Krishna P.

Yelp
It was an amazing experience. Everything was great. Food, ride, service, music. It was so inexpensive too. Great deal and highly recommend.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things! I've visited multiple times and each time am reminded how much I love the history, music and appreciation of cowboy culture. No where else will you find a family and staff that love what they do more then the folks at Bar T 5! The horses are beautiful, the traditional Dutch oven dinner is perfect for crisp canyon evenings, and the music is incredible. The bands final song, "How Great Thou Art" sets an peaceful mood as you load back up into the wagons for a ride down the canyon, often during sunset. You won't regret slowing down, hearing a few jokes, and stepping back in time to when west was a little more wild.
google avatar

Yelp
this was the best hot chocolate I've ever had it was nice for the price wold love to have the recipe for the hot chocolate

Talulah B.

Yelp
NO SHELTER FOR THESE HORSES. The horses stay out ALL day in the scorching sun with NO SHELTER then WORK all night. Please direct your hard-earned dollars elsewhere until these horses get their well-deserved shelter from the elements.

Yelp
Great fun and food (especially dessert)! We just returned from an awesome family vacation in and around Wyoming. As planned our visit to Jackson, WY, we talked with the Lodge at Jackson Hole, and they recommended "the chuckwagon dinner," so we signed up. They coordinated through the Bar T 5 Ranch, which is a few minute drive from The Lodge. The Bar T 5 has been around for many years... they have a great crew. The night starts with people arriving at the Ranch, getting a neat history story about Jackson Hole, and then getting in the covered wagons... padded seats for comfort, and traditional wood-and-iron wheels are replaced by tires, for a smoother ride... nice! The wagons are pulled by horses, who pull you up the hillside to the dinner area, which is a covered pavilion. The food is awesome, and there's plenty of it. And then there is a show... silly fun + awesome music. And on the ride back down we saw an awesome sunset. We had an awesome time and recommend the Bar T 5 to everyone! In our wagon, we met a great Venturing Crew (Boy Scouts for boys + girls 14-21 years old) from just down the road in Idaho, visiting as part of their summer camp. They were at the Bar T 5 because the girl who is the Crew's Leader. She and her family have a farm in Idaho. Their farm provides hay for the Bar T 5 Ranch, and she coordinated their visit. They were a fun bunch who all had a great time. Our son is a Life Boy Scout and had much fun with them, too. The music at the end of dinner was great, especially the fiddle. You can buy a CD of the songs. We recommend Bar T 5 to everyone!

Yelp
A bit shocked about 4 star review. The wagon ride was fun and kids would enjoy. The food at best was 2 star. Meat was tough and very bland. The music was enjoyable the jokes were poor at best. The sound system is horrible for what you charge you can update. Plus the host who is also an owner slow down when you speak no one can understand you. It's a one time experience
google avatar

Yelp
This was a fun night in Jackson. Don't come for the food but come for the ride and entertainment. Lovely fun people, great horses and a great show. BBQ chicken was great but the rest just okay.

Yelp
Staff are cordial and competent, making us feel welcome. They are funny and we enjoyed that part of the visit. Food is quite tasty, and is all you can eat, thought it is not what their menu lists. The main attraction, the musical entertainment, could have been terrific, but the sound was so over amped that the noise, that's what it was, was off putting, and the lyrics undistinguishable. While the experience could have been super, in truth we couldn't wait to leave.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Highly recommend this entertaining event. Our driver, Joe, shared great stories and information with all of us as we ventured along the 2-mile trek from the stables to the dining area. We were accosted by "bandits" along the way and appreciated the hard work put forth by all the horses who make this event happen each night. The dinner meats and dessert could definitely use some improvement (hence the 4 stars) but we did enjoy the salad and beans. We also enjoyed the historical story of Nick Wilson whose pioneer story is tied to the ranch. I quickly ordered his autobiography, White Indian Boy, when I got home (general store was out of stock). Great story!! Overall, this activity was highly enjoyable and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Jackson Hole.

Karen K.

Yelp
Friendly staff wanting to give you the best experience possible. The food was great. Entertainment was great. The wagon driver was so fun and personable. I highly recommend going to Bar-T 5!
google avatar

Ali O.

Yelp
Could be a lot of fun but needs some updating. The food was dismal. The sound system is rough. The jokes are sexist. On the bright side, the wagon ride was neat and the young musicians were talented.

Jeff M.

Yelp
Adelaide our wagon driver was great, but for the dinner show we were seated at the back of the venue and speakers were weak so we couldn't hear much of what was going on onstage. Also, the master of ceremonies made an effort to speak to all the tables both before the show and after, but made a concerted effort to avoid talking to us; we're were the only Asian family in the back, so take it as you will. What we could hear from the stage seemed very hokey, and the show seemed to drag on for too long. The food wasn't fresh and seemed prepackaged for the most part, especially the roast beef in gravy, but I actually liked the beef because it reminded me of TV dinners from childhood. But overall not a good value, in my opinion.

Yelp
Was really wanting to do a wagon dinner experience and found this place. The wagon and dinner were great the performances can use some work. Get the audience involved and less talking. Loved the violin performances. All and all was a great experience
google avatar

Joan M.

Yelp
I loved this So much, that I am noting this here. I have been a Yelp member for years. This is my first review. Beautiful scenery, sincerely nice people and overall great experience
google avatar

B D.

Yelp
Great, must-do experience! We all loved the covered wagon trip to and from the old Western style place set up for the dinner. Great food! Sadly, and to be fair it's like a lot of all-you-can-eat experiences, the food and drinks stop too quickly. You gotta make sure you eat and get the servers attention promptly, so you can get all you're wanting. The show was corny as expected, but well done... Fun and good music! I definitely recommend Bar T 5!
google avatar

Sherry C.

Yelp
The greatest wagon ride,BBQ and western theatre show we have ever attended!! Thank you Wagon Master "Andrew" our grandkids loved you, the beautiful horses and your awesome stories!!! Very friendly and helpful staff at the western BBQ!

Daelon W.

Yelp
Everything about this place was just okay. Allow me to explain. Pros: 1. The wagon ride was alright and I enjoyed it. But just be prepared to get all dusty if visiting in the summer. 2. All of the people are super nice. 3. I actually got some useful and informative facts about the area and about horses and wagon riding. 4. Views were great on the way out! Cons: 1. The food was definitely a "chuck wagon meal". Granted your feeding close to a hundred people or more at a time using unconventional means. So you can't complain much there. 2. The singing was okay but you could barely understand what anyone was saying. I don't know if it was the sound equipment or just the folks not saying their words clearly enough... 3. If you like corny jokes and awkward moments this is the place for you. Definitely recommended for the older crowd or the very very young crowd. All in all a great experience and a great time just wish it was a little bit more interactive than it was!
google avatar

Christi T.

Yelp
The show was SUPER cheesy! The leader had a hard time talking due to his dentures slipping or he was drunk. The young lady playing the fiddle was the absolute best part of the show...she is AMAZING! The food was simply TERRIBLE. The chicken was dry, the gray meat (they said it was beef) was inedible. The best part of the meal was the corn on the cob and the salad. They didn't have real butter and they served store bought rolls and chocolate chip cookies. We really expected to have a good chuckwagon meal that would include dutch oven sour dough biscuits, real butter, and ideally a dutch oven cobbler! School and hospital cafeterias offer better food than what we had! There was a group of about 20 from the UK and I was embarrassed for them to think this was "good" food. NOT worth the price!

Jason J.

Yelp
I don't understand all the great ratings for this experience. The food was really, really bad. Packaged salad mix, what seemed like mystery meat in unannounced sauces, frozen corn, beans, pre packaged cold rolls and a cookie. Think elementary school cafeteria food. Pre poured cups of water and lemonade in styrofoam cups. The picnic shelter they take you to eat in is made with tarps and the stage is a trailer. The sound system was awful and they really over do the music by like 5 songs. More live action with the characters would make the entertainment better. They also burn like 50 citronella candles and it's completely overwhelming. Wanted this to be great, but very disappointed.

Chanda L.

Yelp
It is quirky and fun my family and I enjoyed the covered wagon and dinner. The shows a little cheesy but it was fun! Hi and enjoy yourself! Food was fine , my kids ate and had no complaints.
google avatar

Vickie S.

Yelp
Even the pouring rain couldn't dampen our spirits! The coveted wagons were fun and all the kids in our wagon had a ball. On the way up the trail there were robbers and a mountain man. The young lady playing the fiddle was phenomenal. All the employees were very sweet and took great care of all the guests. The high light of our trip was definitely Liesel she knew all of our names by the end of the night and sought us out during dinner to see if we needed anything. The two tour buses of people from Australia really enjoyed themselves! Would love to do this again with my grandkids.
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and location! This operation is smoother than any other covered wagon dinner I've been on. The staff is respectful, courteous, and professional. They were extremely attentive while we were at the dinner. I really appreciate how they take care to help young children and those needing extra help. The wagon ride is about 20 minutes each way and is a scenic trip into the national park. The wagons themselves are comfy and the seats are nice padded leather and not bumpy or uncomfortable in any way. The wagons take you to a campsite where you circle up and then enjoy dinner under a covered tent. The seating is positioned towards a stage where you will enjoy the live band and entertainment during and after dinner. The dinner is great and includes mouth watering chicken and roast beef. There are also sides like salad, beans, and rolls. They have fresh coffee, hot chocolate , lemonade , and water. The hot chocolate amazing. I'm sure there is butter in that! So good! The dessert was also great. All the food is as much as you want to each. After dinner and the show you head back via covered wagon. The whole experience is top notch and well put together. Fun for the entire family. Be sure to book your dinner next time you are in Jackson.

Bry Guy R.

Yelp
Great, great, great! We had such a fun family dinner and loved the show. Our toddler was a little spooked at times but he warmed up to it and won't stop talking about it since!

J E.

Yelp
What a great experience! A little if all things western. Staff is great -all smiles and welcoming. Dinner was delicious with a nice assortment. Entertainment was adorable. Worth the price. Plan ahead they book up quickly, they are accommodating as best they can.

Scott M.

Yelp
We had a great experience with the Bar T 5 group. We have a son with special needs and the Bar T 5 team worked to make our experience a memorable one for our family. They adjusted our wagon number, so his anxiety wasn't a factor. When we got to the dinner location, the team greeted us and made sure that we were settled in well so we could really enjoy the meal and show. They were fabulous and a memory that will stay with us for a long time.

Megan M.

Yelp
Came here as our last stop on a huge Western road trip with my three boys - and I'm so glad we did! They were incredibly kind from the minute I booked, up to holding the show for a few minute because my kids and I managed to GPS ourselves to the wrong ranch, and had to drive back across town to make it! Definitely a more intimate venue than some of the other dinners. Our tour guide Rebecca was amazing and great with the 500 questions my kids asked, and the whole staff was great, especially Larissa! She went out of her way to make the boys feel right at home. My kids have not stopped talking about it!

Dragos M.

Yelp
I was fully expecting mediocre food. The dry chicken and overcooked beef met the expectations. The mountains of Styrofoam boxes were a shock. If you go to Jackson Hole, I assume you care about the environment. This is not acceptable! Otherwise, the staff is great! The entertainment varies with the entertainers. Some are great (the violinist and guitar players); some not so much.

Steven H.

Yelp
I would give them six stars but the app won't let me. The horses are absolutely spectacular. The team working on the ranch is wonderful. And Hyrum is absolutely amazing on the fiddle. The entertainment is down right folksy and not over the top. The dinner was very well done. The honey mustard glazed pork was wonderful.
google avatar

Diane B.

Yelp
They have been doing this 47 years. A fun wagon ride up to the outside eating area covered by a tent. Picnic bench tables. Stage in front. Good for families with young kids. They were super nice to my dad who is 80 and has dementia and a profound hearing loss to seat us upfront so he could understand better what was going on. Nice young kids working there. We had the second seating. The food is pretty awful. In a styrofoam box, you get two thin slices of over cooked meat, a piece of dried out bbq chicken, 1/2 soggy ear of corn, a little salad, a flavorless roll, fake butter, thin square of a brownie, all drinks weak, only powder milk for coffee. They ask you if you want more, but it was a no thank you. It's challenging I'm sure to do this kind of activity now because of Coronavirus.
google avatar

Benjamin B.

Yelp
Our family of 6 had a wonderful time on this trip! Our Wagon guide was awesome and handled some rowdy horses with care. The music was great, the people we friendly. They were also very accommodating! We had 1 with a food allergy and 1 vegetarian and they had ways to accommodate both with ease. The views during the wagons ride were wonderful. I'd definitely do this again!
google avatar

Kathy S.

Yelp
Fabulously entertaining. The food was surprisingly tasty for a chuckwagon. The show kept us mesmerized at all times. And, the shops in the compound were fun to visit before and after the show. Tip; if you can't stand in a line too long, go early. They have plenty of handicap parking, and there are benches to sit on while in line.
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
The Bar-T-5 Covered Wagon Cookout, Jackson WY was quite enjoyable. The best part of the event was riding about 2 miles in a bumpy 1800s covered wagon from the base camp to the place we eat. We sat up front in the covered wagon and that had 2 advantages: 1) We could watch the 2 beautiful and powerful horses pull the wagon loaded with tourists; and 2) We could easily hear the wagon master and ask him questions. The wagon ride was a lot of fun. I expected the food for hundreds of tourists to be mediocre, but I was surprised that it was good. The barbeque chicken was very tasty and the baked beans were quite good; we all thought that the beef was only mediocre. It is all you can eat and they encouraged us to go back for 2nds. The musicians were pretty good, but they had a show that was an attempt at humor that I found really silly. I hope they change that part.
google avatar

Susanne M.

Yelp
I thought the experience was great!! They all work so hard. The wagon ride was awesome we had Aubrey and she was very sweet and entertaining. The food was good. The service was good and organized to get your dinner. The entertainment was cute and very audience interactive. Good clean fun for the family. I loved it from start to finish.

Yelp
Highly recommend. Fun ride, good food and show. Our whole family really enjoy it. Chris, the owner with many staffs (many crew member work there for college fund) show their passion, hospitality and hard work. It's a "must go" while visiting Jackson Hole. A true showcase of Jackson hole tradition.
