"Sydney’s newest harbor foreshore park, Barangaroo Reserve offers views over Sydney Harbour Bridge, residential Balmain across the water, and on-the-up neighboring quarter Barangaroo. A 15-acre headland, it was transformed from an old industrial container terminal site in 2015, and now features lofty lawns and rocky coves for relaxing. Picnic, walk, or run in this energizing environment, designed to replicate the pre-1836 landscape here prior to colonial times. Barangaroo is named after an influential Aboriginal woman from the early colonial era. Discover more about the area’s indigenous history on an Aboriginal Cultural Tour (book online)." - Sophie Davies

We only went here for vivid Sydney at night so take this with a grain of salt. But we loved the exhibits over here! The lit orb structures were our absolute favorite! The swans on the pond were interesting too but not as entertaining. The orb display was set to music that just made it feel tingly and awesome!

Barangaroo Reserve has become one of my favourite spots in the city. It’s hard to believe a place this peaceful exists right next to the CBD. The views over the harbour are absolutely stunning, and it’s such a great place to go for a walk, whether you’re on your own, with family, your partner, or walking the dog. The landscaping blends in so well with the harbour, and there’s a real sense of space and calm. It’s the kind of spot that makes you slow down and take it all in. A beautiful addition to Sydney, and one that actually adds something meaningful to the city.

Beautiful place to sit on some rocks to look at the aircraft flying into and out of SYD as well as the ships and boats float bye in Sydney harbour. Very peaceful especially at sunrise and sunset.

Really lovely view. The location is great too. The metro takes you there, very convenient . They have wonderful landscaping and you definitely can spend a lot of hours walking around, and feel the breeze. Bring your fam and spend time with them.... Cycling, jogging or having a picnic. Don't mind just taking a stroll here if you have time to kill.

What an absolutely magical experience at Barangaroo for Vivid Sydney 2025! We visited on a chilly night, just before the King's Birthday public holiday, and the atmosphere was truly something special. The light installations and scenery were simply breathtaking. "Fly Me to the Moon" at Barangaroo Reserve was a definite highlight – swinging under that giant, glowing moon was such a whimsical and photo-worthy moment. The way it cast a serene glow over the harbour was beautiful. We also loved "Cygnus" at Nawi Cove, with the dancing swan lighting creating a mesmerizing water ballet. The beautiful "Tear Drop" installation also caught our eye, its subtle glow adding to the enchanting ambiance of the precinct. The sheer creativity and artistry of these installations really transformed the entire precinct. Despite the cool air, wandering along Wulugul Walk with all the dazzling projections and installations was an absolute delight. Barangaroo truly came alive with the spirit of Vivid's "Dream" theme. The vibrant colours and innovative displays made for an unforgettable night. Definitely worth braving the chill for this stunning showcase of light and art! Highly recommend a visit to Barangaroo during Vivid.

Barangaroo Reserve during Vivid Sydney is an absolutely magical experience, a truly unforgettable fusion of nature, art, and innovation. Far more than just a park, it transforms into a canvas of light and imagination, inviting visitors to step into a dreamlike world. One of the standout installations, "Fly Me to the Moon," truly lives up to its name. A colossal, softly glowing inflatable moon hovers majestically over the native gardens, creating an ethereal ambiance that feels truly celestial. The added touch of a swing positioned beneath it offers a whimsical, interactive photo opportunity, making everyone feel like they're literally swinging among the stars. It's a testament to how Vivid can blend playful elements with profound visual impact. Beyond the moon, Barangaroo Reserve is dotted with various other captivating light artworks. You might encounter "An Act of Being," which powerfully uses dance and technology to reflect on First Nations experiences, or "Alchemy of Atmospheres" at Nawi Cove, a multi-sensory experience that uses lightning, fog, and sound to create an immersive, almost cautionary tale about our planet. The way light plays across the unique tessellated sandstone foreshore, a modern reinterpretation of the area's pre-colonial natural landscape, adds another layer of depth, highlighting the reserve's historical significance and careful design. The beauty of Barangaroo Reserve, even without the Vivid lights, lies in its meticulously recreated native garden, boasting over 75,000 indigenous trees and shrubs. When bathed in the glow of the installations, these natural elements take on a new, almost fantastical quality. The winding paths and open lawns, designed to mimic the original headland, offer countless vantage points to enjoy the spectacle, from intimate coves to expansive views across the sparkling harbour. Vivid Sydney at Barangaroo is a testament to the power of art to transform space and evoke wonder. It's not just about seeing pretty lights; it's about experiencing the blend of culture, history, and cutting-edge creativity, all set against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour. It's a place where the spiritual and the celebratory truly intertwine.

Went to Barangaroo Reserve for New Years Eve. The park was a very good place to watch the fireworks and o can imagine on a normal day is a great place to go for a picnic. I would say it’s quite far away from public transport and there are better views of the bridge from other parks in the city.

You don't need tickets to enter! It was stunningly beautiful and less crowded, great for watching the sunset in peace.
