This was my first time at a recreational dispensary, and I have to say — the setup was really cool. We visited while in San Francisco, and unlike anything I’ve seen on the East Coast, this place had a full lounge area, pool tables, and a lounge. The vibe inside was great, and the product was excellent.
But… the experience took a turn at the end. They close at 9:45 PM, and unfortunately, it’s not in the safest part of town. There were several homeless individuals in the area, including one man lying on the sidewalk nearby (hopefully just sleeping). We let the staff know we had an Uber just four minutes away, but were told we needed to leave immediately so they could lock up. We were basically told to stand on the sidewalk with the passed-out man and “we’d be fine” because the streetlights were on.
Look, I get closing time is closing time, but I genuinely felt unsafe — and kind of brushed off — being forced outside so abruptly in that environment. Even just letting us wait inside for a few minutes would’ve gone a long way in showing care for customer safety.
Would I go back? Maybe during the day. But that last impression definitely changed how I felt about the whole experience. Especially with them knowing we didn’t feel safe and them letting us know they open first thing in the morning and to come back.
