Food was ok not the best. Ordered through the site and it didn't go through but the guy took my order right away and got my food in a few minutes. Place is chill and looks like it's in the middle of a little town in Texas. They do have a bunch of chairs on top of each other on one end of the restaurant. The food was ok. BBQ sauce was super sweet but didn't mind it. The chicken was a little tough. The meat itself was alright. Oh yeah no parking. The guy did recommend go call and order ahead and not use the site.

I got the 2 piece chicken with my sides as the macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and 2 cornbread. The BBQ sauce has the perfect balance of sweet and smokey. They were generous with the portions for the price it is definitely worth it. I'm definitely ordering again soon!

I ordered the Texas Style Ribs and they were delicious with Cole slaw, BBQ beans with corn bread. I personally think it’s better than Woody’s. I ate half and save the rest for my lunch for work. Everyone in the break room was smelling my food. 😂 Hope my review helps! Enjoy!

Absolutely the best BBQ I've had west of Kansas City. The proprietor was super friendly, I took the sampler and the Sauce was just amazing, My favorite was the Beef Ribs, just fall of bone meat goodness, of the 5 meats in the sampler the Chicken and Brisket were amazing as well.

Barbeque King is horrible! The tri tip that I ordered out? It was dry, tasteless, microwaved crapola. Nothing BBQ or smoked about it. If I had eaten in I would have returned it. But as you can see no one dines in. There are a whole lot of better choices for fall off of the bone, tender, melt in your mouth BBQ in South Los Angeles than this dump. Instead of calling themselves the Barbeque King , Barbeque Fraud would be more appropriate.

This is the SPOT! The ribs and potato salad are both on point. You can taste the smokiness of the meat, it's tender, and the sauce is very tasty. I highly recommend this place and when you come you have to get a whole rack because it's just that good.

I've had BBQ from lots of places but this place here..🔥🔥🔥..Definitely hit the spot. Amazing flavor reminds me of my uncles backyard BBQ. The sauce is great the sides are good and the peach cobbler..damn..My opinion..YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. LARGE portions as well. Enjoy💚😋

Got the platter for 4 and it was amazing! The meat came right off the bones. Great barbecue sauce, coleslaw, and mac & cheese. All of which came out pretty quick. Would come back

The customer service is absolutely terrible. From the lady in the front taking the orders to the cooks in the back. I placed an order on Uber Eats and said sauce on the side. They sent my order with sauce so I called to see about exchanging my order. When I got there the lady at the front had a terrible attitude along with the cooks as if I did something to them when in fact I was the one being inconvenienced. They rinsed the bbq sauce off my tri tip off and placed it back on the grill to heat up and served it to me. I wouldn't recommend this place to nobody. They had a B in their window and they DO NOT CARE about their customers or the quality of their service and food. I would NEVER return.

I been living in the area for 54 years a long time ago it was the pit & on 54th St. Mr. Jim and he lied about you need no teeth to eat his beef. But I recommend the Texas King on Vermont. For me this is it forget Woody's & Phillips that's never open & it doesn't taste the same. But the Texas King stays the same. The best in L.A.CA

I ordered the two piece chicken meal through DoorDash. I was excited to see how inexpensive the meal was and thought that I had a new "go to" restaurant. One of the pieces of meat was totally burnt and the other piece was dried out. It was disgusting. I will not be ordering from here again. If it were not for the coleslaw, which was not great but passable, and the barbecue beans, again, nothing spectacular, I would not have had any dinner at all.

Let me say, that was the worse cornbread I ever tasted..beans good..greens bland. Baby backs were meaty..did not care for the sauce.

A day before National BBQ day, I decided to randomly try out this place as the have beef ribs, the last couple times I didn't enjoy very much because the other places either didn't have ribs or just too dried. I would say the place got some history here, even the cast of NCIS LOS ANGELES came here :) you got the signed poster on the wall to prove it. Then came down to the food, the portion and size was a bit small for the price, I am not sure how they could fit all the different types of meat in a small paper plate with foils on top, then just 2 small tiny cups of coleslaws and greens. My rating on their meats as I ordered the dinner size samplers including 2 Texas beef ribs, briskets, links, chickens. The beef ribs were the best, juicy and well seasoned, the chicken also the best part, but then when you get down to the brisket, they were so dry like rubbery tires, and they're looked pretty old too, the links also overly cooked, but at least they were edible. If I came back here I definitely skip the brisket.

I was craving BBQ and wasn't in a cooking mood. So, I Google good BBQ in my area, and this restaurant came up. I ordered a pork rib dinner, with greens and baked beans. Ribs were very tasty. Don't remember if I liked the sides. Which means I probably didn't. But, they were edible. I had the delivered. It was hot and fresh.

First time here , Flew in from Arizona on business and it most definitely did not disappoint. Great food and amazing service. Loved the vibe. I'll definitely be coming back .

I'm not a BBQ guru but I know yummy food when I eat it. This place looks like it's been here from the beginning of LA. I had the pork rib dinner with Mac & Cheese and baked beans. Parking is tricky :)- Prices are on par with LA. Keep the tradition alive and go eat some yummy bbq:)-

Gonna start off with the good things. The beans and Mac&Cheese were good. But the Rib were absolutely garbage. Im damn near chewing on a piece of rib for half an hour cuz its nothing but fat. Hardly any meat on there. I dont know who said that ribs fall right off the bone here but thats a lie. Its stuck right on there, chewy, and hardly any meat in it. Waste of money to be honest. It looked good at first but once i bit into i instantly wanted my money back lol

My husband wanted some BBQ. We ordered the works. A sampler basket which consisted of brisket, BBQ Ribs, Chicken, Links. We ordered the Mac and Greens with Corn Bread and Peach Cobbler for Dessert. We really enjoy BBQ. So, I am always hesitant when a restaurant pours on too much Sauce. It's like they are covering up something. The BBQ would taste better if not sauced. Nice Smokey flavor but drenched in way too much sauce didn't make the food taste better. The Mac was dreadful. Greens were edible. Corn bread didn't taste like corn. They were dried out with no flavor at all. My Peach cobbler wasn't even cooked . The dough was still raw and it arrived freezing. The over all experience was highly disappointing and very dissatisfied with the quality of food. I wouldn't recommend spending the money.

Me & my daughters ordered the dinner sampler & the lunch sampler with Mac & cheese , potato salad & beans but got home the beans was greens instead . The brisket was not tender at all , ribs was ok , link just a regular link , chicken ok . The greens didn't have no taste . Mac was dry , potato salad regular . Also the website says one price get there another price . The amount we paid was not worth it at all . I will not return . Overall we didn't like it .

So I'm totally not one to believe in the hype but... my sister tried this place last year and raved. While driving home I got a taste for som BBQ and if you know like I know. Finding good BBQ is hard to find. It's mostly "trend" or " hype" and not flavor or taste. So I'm going down the list of BBQ spots and saying meh nope. Then this place popped in my mind. Well you guessed it I said what the hay let me give it a taste. Delighted that I did. The sauce on point. The portion well worth the price. Those sides yum-azing .... I ordered the rib tip lunch with potato salad and baked beans. I wish I knew they were as yummy as they were or I would have ordered more sides. I absolutely recommend this place and will definitely be returning to try the burger

To start I'm a Kansas City transplant of 40 years and I tend to be hard on bbq places so I don't often review them. I was working in the area and saw this on a google search. The decor is minimal, a few pics of USC sports teams and a tv that usually has an older tv show on. The employees and customers are friendly and helpful. I've had the chicken lunch special and baby back and beef ribs and they are very good. For sides I had potato salad, bbq beans and greens, they were all very good. The only negative I thought could be better is the corn bread muffins, they have great flavor but were just a little dry for me. But a dry muffin isn't going to stop me from coming back again. Think I'll try the brisket and links (chicken or beef) I'm also interested in their turkey.

I was extremely disappointed. The only good thing was the sauce and the meat was tender BUT the collard greens were horrible. It tasted like they just threw greens in water. No seasoning, no smoked meat, just waterlogged. The potato salad was also seasoned poorly and the potatoes needed to boil at least 10 more minutes. There was a long wait as well. They also got my order wrong. I pray that they will season their food and maybe I'll be back.

I am sooo appalled that this place is still in business. I got the sampler, the brisket was cardboard, I was chewing on it for 30 minutes. The ribs, sausage and chicken all taste the same. I don't like throwing food away but this took the cake. The beans and the potato salad were horrible! DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM THIS PLACE, YOU WILL BE HORRIFIED!!!!!!

Was iffy about this place considering the reviews were half hyping it tf up and other half talking down on it, but I said fuck it. Their Lunch Special is pretty well priced. $13, but really $16 on Postmates when you deliver for 6 pieces of BBQ Baby Back Ribs, 2 sides, and cornbread. My sides were collard greens and baked beans. The order took over an hour to come, so maybe that's why the food wasn't as hot on arrival. The BBQ ribs fell right off the bone when I bit into the meat. The sauce is pretty good, and I think 6 pieces is a good portion size. I wanted to save some for tomorrow, but I ended up just eating it all in one sitting for a late lunch. Haha. I did choose to warm up the ribs in the microwave since it wasn't as hot and added some rice and peas to the mix to make the meal really pop. There were 3/6 pieces that were too chewy, and wasn't as delectable as the other 3 pieces. The baked beans were good, but not the best. The sauce was different, had this different taste that I honestly can't put my finger one. It ain't no Bush's, but it coo. Collard Greens were NOT for me. I took two bites and nasty. Very watery and the seasoning wasn't there for me. Cornbread is very dry and tastelss on every single bite I took, but the more I chewed the more life and flavor I received. But, I didn't like it. I shouldn't have to fully chew something for me to actually like the tase and overall flavor. Ribs had their downfall of being overly chewy, but the good bits of the meat, rice and peas, and sauce made up for it. Pretty good. And the baked beans come in second place. If I'm craving ribs again, I'll try somewhere else, but still a coo try.

Im gonna be generous and give them 2 stars but I can definitely make bbq better than them. I ordered through Postmates, it was 35 minutes late. Not the drivers fault, it was the restaurants. So ribs were decent, but could have been better. I just keep wishing for the sauce to be more flavorful. Fries were OK, tasted way better with seasoning salt on them. Mac and cheese was good, id give it a 4 outta 5. I wished it was more cheesier. Beans were ok, could be a bit better but they were good. So they gave me sodas I didn't want, there is no choice on the app to choose and I didn't even think about it. They sent me a diet coke which I didn't need and a ice tea I dont like. I asked for rolls they sent me cornbread muffins which I didn't want or eat. On the positive side im full and need a nap from all the food I ate. I probably won't order from here again.

I ordered the lunch portion to be delivered. The delivery time through Yelp was not accurate but it kept me in the roundabout timeframe by watching the cars movement. One of the stars is for delivery which I would have given 5 stars too. I really wanted to give at least 3 stars but the only thing that is actually consistent concerning reviews is the bbq sauce. I saw another review that was like me. Saw half and half reviews and because it was such a great price point just take the chance. The blue box Mac n Cheese I ate as a kid taste better than this. I can also tell cream of mushroom was used which is a great ingredient for this dish IF you know how to use it. For me the potato salad was flat in flavor and it taste like either horseradish or Dijon mustard was used. Again great choice IF you know how to use it. One thing I can appreciate is that it was made from scratch just need to scratch a little more taste into it. The greens were so flavorless that it made the potato salad and macaroni cheese taste slightly better. I take it that it was only boiled with MAYBE some salt. The rib tips meat was OK...The pieces with meat were decent. Don't get me wrong I like a little burnt pieces but it was excessive. The rib tips made this into a another star. Portion size: meat healthy size, sides about a cup maybe a cup and a half.

When it's good it's good. But it's not always good. Be careful when ordering the smoked half chicken the breast and thigh are fractions of a piece. Beware of over cooked and inedible rib tips. I called to complain and all the person who answered the phone would say is 'sorry'. I am sadly done trying with the BBQ King. I will find a more consistent place for my bbq fix.

Company lunches are tricky ...and here's why. With varying taste buds to please, everyone seems to have an opinion of what's good and delicious but lo and behold at the mention of Texas Style bbq it seems everyone gave a unanimous vote! The Original Texas Barbecue along Vermont's ever busy stretch is an inconspicuous hole in the wall, who would've thought that one of the best and scrumptious Texas style bbq is hiding in this place! The moment you park curbside in front of the restaurant - The smell of that sweet and savory bbq sauce just permeates the air, it is almost like an invitation to find that golden pot at the end of the rainbow and yes it is.. their bbq was like stumbling on a pot of gold! It was delicious! I have been back here quite a few times already to buy the company lunch, they have several offerings for groups which I have to say is a pretty generous serving, I always get the 16/20 tray which is enough to feed the whole staff in our office; a choice of beef or pork ribs, then chicken, sausages, and tri-tip all wallowing in this delicious sweet and savory bbq sauce that I would dare say is their secret recipe! A side of Mac & cheese, potato salad, collard greens, coleslaw and 2 dozen cornbread (or dinner rolls) comes with this serving and I have to say- this meal option is quite filling and enough for a group of 15! It's huge! The meat is quite tender, juicy and flavorful - it will not disappoint! The sides especially the mac & cheese!!! It's quite rich and divine! We've never had a bad tray from this bbq spot and I would highly recommend the place especially if you have a craving for some good ole Texas Style bbq meal! Price point is just right, the place is okay nothing fancy, parking is tough but worth looking for a spot even a block away for their scrumptious serving of delicious bbqs!

We read all the reviews and were excited to try this place. We ordered via DoorDash. And I must say based on the reviews, I was disappointed. If this was the best BBQ you have had, you need to get out more. I got the sampler dinner so I could try all of the meats. The chicken was tender and moist, the hot link was good...the rib was tough and the brisket was sliced paper thin and tough as leather. The Mac and cheese was flavorless and the greens were basic. Positive...their BBQ sauce is BOMB.com All in all, disappointed based on the reviews. Wouldn't go back, wouldn't recommend. Sorry!

The wife and I are from Texas and we are consistently seeking BBQ that represents what we've grown to love. I have to say this spot is pretty close...the smoke flavor is on point and the serving size is generous. I prefer to add my own bbq sauce, when you taste a rib or any other properly Q'd piece of meat...You taste then add sauce if needed. I will say that the sauce is uniquely tasty...kinda sweet and kinda spicy. I would buy a bottle of that !!! Hot Links are the truth and the service was good. I predict future visits !

BBQ was old and the meat was tough to me. The sides were too small and the food was expensive.

I ordered from Ubear Eats, first of all, uber eats was great, my order arrived earlier than planned and the delivery person was nice too. Now onto the food. I was very disappointed. The peach cobbler is made with canned peaches and the dough was still raw. The cornbread was crumbling everywhere and was missing flavor. The bbq is sweet and they slather that sauce on everything, the sauce is ok. My brisket was burnt, the taste was horrible and it was hard/dry, the link was good with a bit of heat. The ribs were decent but had a bit more fat than my liking. The potato salad tastes strange and the texture isnt good. The coleslaw was decent, i could do without raisins. I had to throw half of my order away unfortunately because only half was edible. My daughter didnt like her mac n cheese, it tasted bland and the container they put it in is styrofoam so beware of the warm fat reacting to it and making everything tastes bad. Maybe I was unlucky, idk, but im not willing to try again. I ordered on a Friday night at 7:30 pm, an hour before closing time if it makes any difference.

Long overdue but my wife and I were regulars when they started at the corner of Sunset and Figueroa. Loved their beef ribs when available; only problem was they sometimes tended to mix up our beef ribs order with pork on more than one occasion. I once had to check the cook on this right in the middle of our food preparation. A huge issue for those of us that don't eat pork. Be sure to double check your orders.

This place is Legit. BBQ is on point, the service is as it should be, and did I mention the BBQ is on point. Delicious and authentic. If your in the area get some.

I ordered a two tri tip sandwiches with macaroni cheese along with the baby back rib dinner combo which comes with two sides of your choice. I opted for the collard greens and bbq bake beans. Totally cost $39 and some change. So here is my take on there food. Tri tip sandwich was good just too much sauce for my liking. The sauce is just too sweet. The meat was tender but no stand out smoke ring. Macaroni cheese was a fail. It was cheesy and tasted like they watered down the creamy cheese sauce. Baby back ribs were tasty despite the river of sweet bbq sauce. No smoke ring. However, the meat had a good bite pull and you can see where you took a bite. They just can tone down the sauce "in my opinion". The bake beans were damn good. As well as the greens. You get two muffin size pieces of cornbread. I didn't eat them only because I had some made at home. Overall if I was in the area again I would give them another try. I would just request bbq sauce on the side and steer clear from the macaroni cheese.

If you're ever in South L.A. you definitely need to stop by this place!! They have the BEST BBQ in the WORLD!! Yes, I said it!! It's true!! I can't get enough of their delicious BBQ. I have been going to this business since back in the 1990's when they were on the corner of Figueroa & Sunset. Their baby back ribs are delicious, the Mac and cheese is so flavorful!! I love their chicken sandwiches they put a piece of chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, onion on a toasted French roll. The BBQ sauce is to die for!! I've gone to other BBQ places around town and they were ok, however TEXAS BBQ KING has them beat!! You will never go wrong coming here. If you're in a hurry I suggest you call in your order for pick up because GOOD FOOD TAKES TIME TO PREPARE!! Please don't rush the deliciousness!! Thank you for reading my review. Wow. I'm truly speechless. I order the food online and got it delivered on time. The food came in warm and with all its utensils. The beans are delicious. The potato salad is to die for. I got the sample lunch. It's my first time trying this place so I wanted to make sure I tried everything because I don't know what is good. The portion is good. I personally think it's more for 2 people serving. I tried the rib and the meat was so tender and soft. It would just slide off the bone without trying to hard. I personally loved the brisket it was so soft and delicious. The sauce is so good. I loved this place I will most definitely come back again and order again. I didn't get to try the hot link or chicken because I got full. I finished the potato but not the beans. The beans were a little too sweat for me but needless to say they were delicious

First time ordering from here and the food is AWESOMELY DELICIOUS!!!! My GAWWWWWDDD!!! No more Lucille's BBQ for me. This is where I'm coming from now on!!! I ordered by phone and the gentleman that took my order was polite and professional. Okay so I do understand that covid is impacting things completely. But I've had better bbq from dickeys. Now if you think dickey's is good, I would like to emphasize that I'm African American. Ok shoutouts to my kings and queens! So yeah I ordered this through Postmates and it took about an hour to arrive. I honestly think it was sitting under a heat lamp all day because the meats was completely dried out when I got it (except a rib, I got a sampler). The sides (Mac and cheese + potato salad) is like nothing I ever tasted it. I grew up only eating Woodys and Phillips so if you're used to that quality, nothing really compares.

This spot is on point. This excuse my language but this big ass burger is hella good. The Turkey burger is good too but not as big and juicy. All in all delicious. I gave them a 4 because I ordered 2 beef burgers and they didn't tell me they ran out of beef until I got there and they had made the Turkey.

Bought a tray on 4th of July. The meat was dry and burnt. The macaroni and link were really burnt. The only decent thing was the beans. We were very excited to have this meal but disappointed with the results. I am not sure if I will return.

We called in for a phone order . Upon arriving to the restaurant. I was told it would take 20 mins to complete the order because other orders were ahead of me. I explained to the order taker,that the reason we phoned in our order is because we did not want to wait. After roughly 24 mins . The order comes. I get home to find that they did not give me all my sides. The bbq was horrible. The rods have no flavor not even with the sauce. I will never spend another dime at this place. I am so disappointed

SATISFIED. This place is incredible. In a sea of options in LA I'm lucky I stumbled on the Original Texas Barbecue King. In addition to all of your southern comfort food options from bbq chicken, pork, and ribs this place's sauce is what was the most convincing. I used to visit family in Texas every year as a kid. Going out to eat real Texas bbq was one of the best memories and this is the only place in LA that has come close to that flavor. The sides are also delicious! Clearly there is a LOT more effort put into each side than just store bought plain stuff. Overall, I was stuffed and even had enough food for leftovers because this place isn't stingy. They definitely value their customers and leave them satisfied. Thank you! Definitely telling my friends about this place.

I hire this company for catering. They do a WONDERFUL job. I am always nervous to run out of food. Today they fed 120 contractors and had plenty of food left over. Everyone loved everything. The food and service is amazing, but I think what I love the most is how easy they are to work with and make us happy as a customer. I use them often and will be using them for long to come.

Saw the name on the building as the stars of Netflix All American walk the street and I looked up the name. Sure enough it ws a real place in LA (where I live). Drove from the westside ( services don't deliver). WORTH IT. Had beef ribs, good, tips - excellent. Sause was sweet they way my wife and I like. tangy not hot. definitely a buy again experience. ordered corn bread - fair, and Mac & Cheese- again fair. Loved the meats, side may not order those again. by the tiem I got home meats and Mac were still hot enough to eat, corn bread cold. Definitely worth the drive ( 30 minute)

Not perfect customer service, but I really like their ribs. Their sauce has a unique flavor profile that stands out from the crowd. I really like their pork ribs, beef ribs and tri-tip. They have missed minor items in my order more than once, otherwise I'd give them 5 stars. That said, they are my "go to" for BBQ and I'll still order from them in the future.

Reviewing only from delivery experience! It is delicious! We got 4 orders of dinners , ribs , tips and links and omg it was delicious! Will definitely be ordering again ! The meat was tender the sauce was delicious. Our food was well packed where nothing spilled. And the links where so goooddd ! Thank you !

On 1/4/21 I placed two rib dinner orders for delivery. The driver was an hour late, consequently my food was cold. That's not the worst of it though. Both orders of ribs were tough and grossly undercooked. Baked beans, Mac&Cheese and greens were ALL horrible!! This is by far my WORST barbecue experience ever. I will NEVER order from this place again!! In fact, I won't be having barbecue anytime soon after this sickening experience.
