Barbounaki

Barbounaki was an absolute delight. The seafood was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is simply magical, especially by the lake — elegant yet relaxed. I truly enjoyed the entire experience, and the prices were very reasonable for such high quality. Highly recommended!

Barbounaki is an excellent seafood restaurant in Athens. The menu is diverse, with a strong focus on fresh, high-quality fish. The décor is simple yet beautiful, inspired by a relaxed seaside, maritime style that perfectly matches the dining experience. One of the highlights is their daily mixed seafood dish, which changes based on what the fish vendor delivers that day—an authentic touch that reflects their commitment to freshness. I tried the grilled sardines and fried red mullet (Barbouni), and both were outstanding. The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. A fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy genuine, fresh seafood in Athens. Highly recommended.

It was a nice restaurant.. the staff werent 💯 nice.. some attitude issues The food comes plain.. literally grilled seabass no sides no flavor nothing .. so you have to add your sides.. i asked for shrimp linguine but was served orzo .. which was so heavy and oily Also.. they took forever inbetween serving dishes. So we waited for a long time till each dish came Too many staff.. and most of them gather and laugh. Would have been a better experience with better trained staff

Great spot in Athens! The restaurant is very well located, and the terrace area is super pleasant to sit in. The menu is just right – not too short, not overwhelming – and I really enjoyed a delicious marinated fish tartare and a grilled sea bream. Service was very good and relatively quick, even though I wasn’t in a rush. As a nice touch, I was offered some small cakes for dessert, which were excellent. Prices are very fair: I only paid €26 for both dishes plus a bottle of sparkling water. Everyone speaks perfect English, which makes things even easier. Definitely a place I recommend, and I’ll be happy to come back!

We sat outside again, surrounded by the energy of Athens: that perfect mix of city life and sea breeze that makes everything taste better. The food here is outstanding — elevated Greek seafood with heart. The sardines were crispy and full of flavor, the tomato salad was sunshine on a plate, and the special fish of the day was perfection. Every dish felt fresh, thoughtful, and beautifully balanced. The service was warm and genuine — friendly faces, quick attention, and a real sense of hospitality. You can tell the team here truly loves what they do, and it shows in every plate and every smile. Barbounaki manages to feel both casual and refined — the kind of place where you instantly relax but still feel like you’re treating yourself. We’ll absolutely be back. The food, the vibe, the people — this is Athens at its best.

Incredible restaurant to stop into while visiting Athens. Best meal we had in Europe. Try the smoked mackerel! Staff was so nice and gave us great recommendations for around the area. Wish we had time to come back for another meal here.

Great Kolonaki neighbourhood restaurant for fresh seafood. Book in the busy times though. Excellent Greek wine by the glass at Australian prices ($16 glass) not cheap but quality is worth it. Professional, friendly staff that know their food and wines. The red mullet was excellent. Fresh and perfectly cooked. Greek salad a good one.

Nice seafood place around Kolonaki. It was a surprise to findout that they were sold out of several ouzo brands. Barboun fish was fresh.
