Barceló Emperatriz (Madrid, Spain) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Madrid’s Barceló Emperatriz is inspired by the Empress Eugénie de Montijo, wife of Napoleon III, but more concretely, it’s aimed at today’s empresses — the female half of the five-star-hotel clientele, or anyone who wants the professional service and polished comforts of a modern luxury hotel in a color scheme that departs from the usual business-formal black and brown." - Tablet Hotels

Barceló Emperatriz Madrid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ is a highly detail-oriented and proactive hotel. We had an excellent four-night stay that truly felt like a five-star experience. The location is outstanding—conveniently close to public transportation and situated in a safe, secure area. Cleanliness was impeccable, easily five stars. The amenities were also top-notch—everything you could possibly need in the bathroom was thoughtfully provided, and more. I especially appreciated the daily evening check-in by the staff, which added a personal touch to the service. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning the next time I’m in Madrid.

Originally posted this on google: I stayed at this hotel from June 6 to 10 and again June 13 to June 15. It was a wonderful experience especially due to the manager Diego. He went above & beyond to accommodate my husband and I. He helped with dinner reservations and providing options. The whole staff from reception, restaurant, housekeeping and porters were wonderful. The breakfast buffet had fresh food and was delicious. It has a very zen vibe and is in a quiet neighbourhood. My husband frequented the gym multiple times a day and loved it. The rooms and the hotel itself was very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel! Thank you Diego! The beds give you such a relaxing sleep you dont even want to get up in the morning. Its a 10 out 10 hotel!

We stayed at the hotel with our family of four last June 2025 for six nights. It was a wonderful experience, the service we received particularly from Judith was excellent. We had an issue with the room we got as it did not meet our family's needs (connecting), and she went above and beyond and got us an upgrade. The rooms are clean, nicely appointed, and modern. The location of the hotel was really amazing, it was located in a very quite part of Salamanca which had a lot of bars and restaurants in the area frequented by locals. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

Loved staying here! It was one of our favorite hotels. Super clean and truly 5 star service! Everything was super comfortable and housekeeping came twice a day and always had a little bedtime snack which we enjoyed so much. Another plus is that it’s super close to lots of shopping!! Would definitely come back next time I’m in Madrid. Prices were also extremely reasonable

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an amazing experience at Barceló Emperatriz! I arrived at the hotel around 12 PM, and to my surprise, they immediately informed me that my room was ready — no waiting at all. The check-in was smooth, the team explained everything clearly, and I was welcomed with a refreshing drink. Once I got to the room, I noticed a small issue with the balcony door not closing properly. I called the reception, and within minutes, a technician arrived. While he was checking it, the reception called to sincerely apologize and offered to upgrade me to a Suite — even though I was totally fine waiting! This level of care and professionalism is rare. The staff truly go above and beyond to ensure guests are comfortable and happy. I can’t thank the team enough. Highly recommended — I would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at Barceló Emperatriz in Madrid with the family. We booked two rooms—one for us and one for our two boys—which worked out perfectly. The hotel's location is fantastic, very close to Paseo de la Castellana and Calle Serrano, surrounded by high-end shops, great restaurants, and pleasant areas for walking. It's also conveniently just a 10-minute drive to Gran Vía and other central spots. Highly recommended for a family trip or city break.

This is a clean, comfortable, and well appointed hotel. Room was a good size, with a fridge and kettle. Free water bottles and brownies at the turn down service. Staff very courteous and helpful. Taxis are always waiting right outside the front door. The neighborhood is lush and quiet and removed from the more touristy areas. My

I recently stayed at your hotel and would like to share some honest feedback regarding my experience. Unfortunately, I found the cleanliness of the room to be below expectations, and the furniture appeared quite worn out. Additionally, the overall service did not meet the standards I would expect, especially considering the price paid for the stay. Based on my experience, I do not believe the hotel reflects the quality of a 5-star establishment. I hope you take this feedback into consideration to improve the experience for future guests.

Yelp
I love this hotel. Great service, AMAZING breakfast and a clean and modern room. It is a little off the beaten path but there are nearby metro stations which make it easy to get anywhere. Our room was nice and the cleaners did a nice job every day. Comfortable bed, nice shower with great water pressure and comfy robes and slippers. We will stay again!

Yelp
The absolute best. Super chic hotel, easy check in, wonderful and helpful staff. We are Americans spending a month in Spain and loved staying here. The hotel feels boutique but operates like a machine. Check in was smooth and bags came immediately to a beautiful, comfortable room. There was even a "pillow menu" - you can choose from five different options. Hotel bar is the business, Diego will see to that. He is AMAZING. Makes the best cocktails and is super cool. The best part of this hotel is how easy it all is. Everything is unobtrusive. Coming and going is not a thing - elevators are 30 feet from front doors. No one will bother you unless you want something. The housekeepers are also wonderful. I cannot see staying anywhere else in this city. Location is in the middle of the world and the hotel is flawless.

Yelp
Wow. Okay. This was supposed to be a 5 star hotel, and when I walked in, it was. The decor was beautiful, the vibe was fresh and kind. Even an employee offered to take up my bags and brought me water while I sat down with (one of!) the concierge(s). She was very friendly, and so far, I was loving it. Then, I went up to the room. Oh my gosh, it was beautiful. The king-sized bed, perfectly made, with a little fan souvenir and even a hat that says, "EM Hotels." I thought that was so neat! My problems didn't start until later. I was calling housekeeping to order a body pillow from the pillow menu (yes there's a pillow menu!!!). The concierge said she'd send a woman up. Hours passed, and I never received a pillow. At 10pm, I called again, reminding them to bring up my pillow. After about a half an hour, a woman brought up my pillow. Then she started yelling and screaming at me saying I got her in trouble for saying she didn't bring up my pillow. I thought his was ridiculous. This is my vacation, an dim staying at YOUR five-star hotel. You have no place to be yelling at me because you weren't doing your job. I ended up slamming the door because she would not stop. The problems end there, though. Very nice hotel, beautiful lobby and rooms. The bathroom was probably my favorite part. It had a generous bath, with bubble soap and salt scrub, along with a sponge to bathe with and a sliding door so you can watch television from the tub, which I thought was pretty cool. Overall, the hotel was great. I would recommend staying here, as long as you don't order pillows! (Or at least, don't call a second time.)

Yelp
This is the best hotel, especially when you're having an anniversary or honeymoon, as they make a point to make you feel special. They sent up a bottle of champagne on our second night along with a bowl of delicious berries. When we checked in, they offered us a complimentary glass of champagne! The room is spacious and equipped with all the toiletries you'd need that most other hotels have cut back on, from free toothbrushes, to conditioner, to a sewing kit. While the bathroom is amazing - separate stalls for the toilet and shower, plus a bathtub in the main bathroom area which has two doors you can slide open to make the room feel bigger - the bedding is the BEST part of this already wonderful hotel. They have top of the line pillows that you can even switch out. We kept the standard and still slept like logs on them. The mattress itself is also firm yet soft, and the blankets felt sumptuous to wrap yourself in.

Yelp
The hotel is very modern and the staff was just as friendly as 11pm, as I'm sure they would have been at night. The room was great, minimalist and trendy. Unfortunately we did not get to spend the full day as planned here, but the comfort of the bed left us feeling like we had a full night's sleep. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Can I give this place 6 stars?? This is a 5 star hotel, with large rooms, luxurious bathrooms, amazing staff, amazing location. There is a bar downstairs with a nice seating area. There is a roof top lounge with a splash pool. When doing a cost comparison, this hotel is wayyyyy better of a deal than other 5 Star hotel. Sure, Salamanca, where the hotel is, is not that central, in the thick of it, but it's about a 10 min walk to the action, or a 5€ cab ride. Stay here and enjoy!

Yelp
I have stayed here for the last week - a combination of work and personal travel. The hotel is located in a convenient location, close to two metro stations and Calle Serrano with many shops and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very good as well - I recommend it.

Yelp
There was nothing special about this hotel. Everything was average except the price ($$$$). We stayed for one night and we found the hotel staff to be pretty unfriendly and unhelpful. Every time we went to the concierge, there was either no one there or it was busy. And when we asked other hotel employees for help (local restaurants, etc.) all they did was send us to the concierge. Also, there was a city marathon going on the day we were supposed to leave with many street closures (including the hotels) and not one person could tell us how to get a taxi to the airport. They sent us walking in the wrong direction and didn't seem to care. So overall rooms were fine, just not good service.
