Barcelo Hamburg (Hamburg, Germany) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Many of the best urban hotels have one thing in common: efficiency. Barcelo Hamburg offers it in spades. Guests are greeted by a spacious lobby with ample, comfortable seating, soaring ceiling, and bar perfect for relaxing after a flight or long day of sightseeing. Should you need some fresh air, take your glass of wine and sit on the patio. There’s also a gym, sauna, restaurant, and six meeting rooms equipped with the latest technology. The sleek rooms, clearly designed with convenience in mind, feel luxurious nevertheless, equipped with an underfloor heating system, rainfall showers, USB and Bluetooth sound systems, and flat screen TVs. But Barcelo Hamburg’s unbeatable location in central Hamburg is its greatest asset. Situated between the Alster lake and railway station, the shops and cafés of Mönckebergstrasse are a seven-minute walk away." - Tablet Hotels

Google
A top-class stay at Barceló Hamburg thanks in no small part to Hassan El Maalem’s superb reception service. We’ll certainly return and would highly recommend this hotel — especially if you’re lucky enough to be welcomed by Hassan himself.

The Barceló hamburg hotel is a great hotel with a restaurant (what is very pricey ) and a spa , gym and meeting rooms . The room itself was nice but whenever we used the shower loads of water kept coming through into the bedroom . Also from the bedroom you could see the bathroom and anyone showering as there were no curtains just an open area with a sink . The food was quite good ,especially the breakfast. Service was great and told us how to get to some places and keeping our luggage before we could check in . Overall a good place to stay for a hotel .

The hotel was really good located in Hamburg. I liked the design of the hotel room. It was clean and quiet. The breakfast was really good. I enjoyed my stay.

Nice modern hotel at prime location in Hamburg. Great design and style. But air quality and temperature is an issue in the hotel. Although the room is equipped with AC, did not manage bringing the room temperature to a comfortable level (while temperature outside was in the lower 10 degrees range because of fall/winter season). Alternatively opening the one window did not do much either. It was very warm in the corridors an lobby as well. Temperature setpoint seems to be at an uncomfortable high level.

The ‘superior room’ build and quality was fantastic - beautiful tiling, large mirrors, open shower and excellent bed with premium mattress and pillows. Simple white decor, immaculate and clean (so much so that I felt happy walking around without shoes). Really nice small but well equipped gym with sauna facilities too. No swimming pool. Breakfast buffet costs 26€ but I went elsewhere. 7 min walk from the main train station (which has direct subway link to Hamburg airport).

I was very disappointed with my stay. The room was extremely small and space was a serious constraint. It's nowhere near the comfort or standard expected of a 4-star hotel. Breakfast was another letdown: the scrambled eggs were badly overcooked, the jam was watery, and the overall quality was poor. Honestly, this is not comparable to any 4-star hotels I’ve stayed at in Southeast Asia, where service and food are usually far superior. Overall, the experience felt more like a budget hotel than what was advertised. Not worth the price.

The hotel was excellent in terms of location and infrastructure. The staff was also consistently very attentive. For sure I will come back 😊

Google
Amazing hotel with clean rooms and nice interior design! The staff is incredibly helpful, and gave us some good travel advice both for Hamburg and for some day trips. Breakfast is very good with a great variety.

Yelp
There's so much to dislike about this hotel, but the bed was decently comfortable, so they get 2 stars. The room was tired (the floors were so marked up), and we saw two bugs (maybe earwigs?) crawling into and out of the sliding door area in the bathroom. The pillows were huge, so the pillow cases didn't fully cover them, exposing the pillows on the ends. Yuck! The door to the room was difficult to close - had to practically slam it. The elevator made so much noise, we thought it was going to break down every time we got in. And the breakfast was pretty terrible. The hot food was warm at best and just poor quality. Both days, our utensils were dirty, and we had to get new ones. They had a jug of water that was supposed to be infused with cucumber (we think), but it was horrible bitter. Undrinkable. And there was no email from the hotel prior to arrival, like all other hotels do (you know, the one that welcomes you a few days beforehand so that you know they're expecting you, and you feel welcomed). Definitely would skip this place if I come back to Hamburg.

Yelp
The Barcelo Hotel as such was great and in very central location in Hamburg. The room was spacious, top-modern, impeccably clean, and had everything I needed. The staff was professional, welcoming by the book, but a little bit charme would not harm.

Yelp
Nice restaurant/bar location to go for a quick drink when wondering around the city of Hamburg. Wine card is good and with solid variety but service could be a little bit faster though most of the service associates are very friendly which is a GOOD thing. The bar itself is very cool and trendy!

Yelp
We loved our stay in the Barcelo Hamburg. Our room was clean, modern and beautiful. The location was very close to the train station, easy to walk there with our bags. Very close to downtown shopping and the lake. A little pricier than we wanted but totally worth it for the great value. Also, great wine bar and bartenders down stairs.

Yelp
Checked in, all looked nice. Room was clean but housekeeping had a tendency to walk in unannounced on a daily basis. Food was mediocre and over priced. Breakfast was included with my room and everyday there were plates, bowls, etc that were dirty when grabbing them for the buffet. Shower has mold in it and worse yet, when I went to make tea in the room, the kettle had mold in it. Asked housekeeping to provide a new one, housekeeper said he did but when his supervisor came to check, both realized it was the same one I had and mold still in it.

Yelp
I was very happy with my two nights at Hotel Barcelo. It's situated very close to the train station. It's a very modern and clean hotel. The room is huge and lets you open the windows. That is a necessity because the bathroom is not ventilated, but does offer a NICE shower head. I did not dine at the hotel, because it's Hamburg...go out and eat local! I would highly recommend staying here. Easy walking distance to everything.

Yelp
Upon arrival I liked the place. Pretty hotel and comfortable room. However, I was mistreated by a waiter there and then another staff member. I went to order hot chocolate and the waiter told me I would have to pay beforehand because I could "run off and without paying." Now the man sitting across from me was not asked to pay for his 2 drinks first. So I asked another staff member why I needed to pay first. I was a guest at the hotel and my car was parked in their garage. The staff member spoke to the waiter who immediately said "Did I do something wrong," he knew he had!! After they spoke, he then told me well "you look like you could run." I could not believe this. I ordered a 2.50 hot chocolate. Unless there is a significant increase in chocolate related crimes I do not understand the drama that surrounded this. I also couldn't believe that they were just blatantly saying this to me. They told me I looked like someone who would run. Even if, it's not worth 2.50 to insult a guest. I travel a lot and this hotel is stricken from my list. This experience hurt my heart a little. I was sad.
