Barceló Maya Palace - All Inclusive

Beautiful beach view but the hotel itself has some work to do. The staff speak very minimal English and have a hard time sharing Information about the resort. our room was never cleaned till about 5 pm when we would be going getting ready in the room. the restaurants only had 9pm reservations every night. The bus that goes from hotel to hotel would see us walking to it and leave right away without waiting. Staff are asked to have guests give google reviews, with QR codes in their pockets, then watch as you write the review and ensure it looks good all while you are trying to eat at the buffet. That is why they are so highly rated when I think this hotel should have a lower rating. They also had a private event and blocked off one the hotels. They would not even let you walk the beach past the hotel, we paid to be able to have access to 4 properties but were denied without any warning one hotel would not be accessible due to an event. One night we stayed out late and wanted to sleep in so put a do not disturb on the door, our door was banged on for 5 mins at 9am by staff just to say they were painting near our room and complete disregarded the sign waking us up.There was also a ridiculous amount of kids, my relaxing vacation does not include baby shark by the pool.

We had a later breakfast at the Coral grill at the Palace and our waiter, Carlos Hey was absolutely fantastic. The best we’ve had in our many trips to Mexico. He talked us into a delicious layered coffee drink that was very “especial”. We said okay for the fun of it and it was delicious. He took the time to get to know us and remembered all of my family’s names, just the most lovely and friendliest of people who really made us feel welcome! This place is overall incredible. The weather was about as perfect as it could be (we are here over Christmas). The staff are incredibly kind and the beach is great. The food is good, not the best but good. The shows are a bit lacking, but family friendly and a decent way to spend an evening. The pool area is incredible. Unlimited drinks, great staff, and just the coolest pool ever. Was a bit hard to find a pool chair as they go really quick. Over all a great experience.

My family and I have been into the Barcelo 5 times so far. There is a Facebook page for Barcelo guests. I recommend checking it out. It will answer a lot of questions. The food here is very good. Disclaimer(we are members of the premium club.) which basically means, we pre-pay for vacations. It has a lot of perks. We can make our restaurant reservations, a week ahead of time. You get to go to the spa every day for free. We have our own lounge to check in and check out at and our vacations are cheaper… By a lot.| This is a mega resort. Have comfortable shoes for walking longer distances.| I believe the food quality at the palace is much better than the other resorts on site. There are like 5 resorts on site. But, we haven’t stayed at the adults only section. I hear the food there is very good. | I wish they had more beer options than just corona 🤮.| The staff keeps the grounds very well manicured, considering how many people stay there. | The beaches in Mexico are public property. But this place has rock walls coral reefson each side of it. There are no vendors that come up to bother you on the beach. They have a little mall with shops to buy stuff if you’re interested.| The amount of available beach, chairs, and shaded cabana are a problem. There’s just not enough.| It is roughly 90 minutes from the airport in Cancun. You can shop around for available transportation to and from. I wouldcheck Facebook for reviews and best ideas on who to take.| Overall, this is a great place to stay!

We spent five nights here as a family of 14, 10 adults and four kids under five. Check in was easy and we were greeted warmly. Our family loved this resort and all the amenities it had to offer. The grounds were kept beautifully (They raked the beach every night) and the meandering paths to get to the other resorts in the complex were kept clean. The rooms were spacious and clean. Staff always friendly and helpful. We felt the buffet food had a good variety daily and for food prepared in large quantities, it was good. The beach is lovely- you just have to be careful of the rocks when venturing out. We saw a lot of marine life, including turtles, in the crystal clear water. The girls and I did the aromatherapy spa one day, and also a massage. It was excellent! Book ahead as it gets busy in the afternoon hours. Our family also had members that parasailed, went fishing and did the dolphin encounter. We also did the pool exercise class and a son did a fun pool game one day. The few areas of improvement I would suggest: Have more chairs! It was frustrating to get outside at 7 am and have every single chair taken already with towels. It would have been nice for us to be able to get even two chairs for our large group but it proved impossible. Many chairs then sat empty during the day, but people’s “stuff” was in them, so you couldn’t take them. Allow dinner reservations to be made when booking the vacation. We only had dinner in the restaurants two of our five nights, due to them being fully booked. Another night in a restaurant would have been great. I met some people who booked only a month ago, yet they got dinner reservations easier than we did (we booked in May and traveled after Christmas). It would be nice to have a few more activities throughout the day, like a cruise ship offers. Trivia at a bar indoors, sing along piano early evening, etc. It would have made the days well rounded. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing family vacation. We will cherish those memories for years to come.

If you’re an older adult looking for a nice quiet place with entertainment, don’t come here. I have never seen so many kids in my life. They run all over the place with hardly any supervision from their parents. Try to find a chair on the beach after 8:30 am. Good luck. Parents with kids reserve chairs at the pools and beach. We had to get up at 7:00 am to reserve a chair. The one good thing about this place is the excellent food. But it’s not for me

I'm delighted to write a review of this wonderful resort. I have stayed at the adults only section of this beautiful place multiple times but due to capacity we chose to come to the palace instead. The food has been great, the service has been wonderful, and the staff are so friendly. I look forward to seeing Misale H. and Juan M. every morning at breakfast at the Hacienda buffet. Their fast service, knowledge and remembering what we enjoy for drinks makes our stay so nice. We look forward to returning every year and can now say without a doubt that either end of this resort is a great choice! The pools are wonderful and the bar staff are fun. Brian and Modesto make a great team and also make the best margaritas! Cheers to Barcelo on another great vacation!

Good: Very decent food at restaurants and buffets Huge territory with beaches and pools Good service Clean Decent activities for kids Large clean rooms Bad: Idiotic dated process for reserving restaurants and other activities Ugly: No dehumidifiers. Everything in the room is soaking wet. Sheets, floor, toilet paper, you. Sleeping or just being in the room is nearly impossible. Final thoughts: the humidity is manageable if you set thermostat to 20C. Overall, the place is truly incredible. We walked 16000 steps each day, which made it a very healthy vacation. The food was great, everyone around is very friendly. The beach is really wide and nice with turtles and fish.
