This place has transformed into an extremely poor quality hotel. I've been using this hotel for my vacations for over 10 years, and staff were professional and respectful. Now, except for the security/luggage staff, most workers are very unprofessional and at times racist, especially the lobby check-in staff. I usually drop off my hungry and tired family at the nearby Pizza Hut and check-in by myself with no issues. However, in my last few experiences, I've noticed despite me (dark skin) waiting in line patiently, white persons and families behind me are always prioritized and motioned ahead of me. This is aside from the fact that I already know, due to my room selection, I have to officially register on the 9th floor. The 9th floor reception persons are friendly, but the rooms are smelly, dirty, very old looking, with TV's, coffee maker, remotes not working. The food and drinks were a major reason for me renting the upper level rooms. What use to be some beers, sodas, bottled water, Santo Domingo code, and a decent quality of breakfast items, has transformed into old and unappetizing fruits and vegetables, with a container of room temperature faucet container water and very poor quality coffee. The food selection at the lower level cafeteria and dining areas (especially the Japanese restaurant) are few, expensive, and pitiful at best. The pool, security, and location to public transportation/museums/ other restaurants/are the only positive things about this place. What used to be a 10/10 hotel has now become a basic 3/10 Boca Chica drive-by motel at 5X the cost. Because my family likes this place, I often rented for 2-3 weeks (~$3-4K), but will now be renting from one of the numerous local apartments.
