This was my favorite restaurant on both Oahu and Maui and we ate the majority of our meals here during our time in Oahu. It is walkable from Waikiki. Outdoor dining with beautiful ocean and beach views. The menu is large and diverse enough that we were able to try something different each time. Everything we tried was delicious. Great local fish. Portions were huge and my wife and I wound up splitting meals after our first visit. The atmosphere was incredible. It's out of Waikiki's commotion and they had very good local musicians every night. Prices were very reasonable and comperable to the Midwest. The only downside is I probably won't get to go back and nothing in the Midwest can compare. Edit we were there in February of 2025. There was construction going on for the path behind the dining area which is why there's fencing and black plastic in the background. Normally it opens to the beach and I think tables right on the beach.

I visited this little restaurant by the ocean and absolutely loved it. The place is very cozy, with surprisingly moderate even low prices considering how high the food quality is. Everything we tried was incredibly delicious. I especially enjoyed the pineapple cocktail, which was amazing. There was live music with musicians playing real instruments, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The place is beautifully decorated with string lights, so it’s wonderful to sit by the water in the evening, listen to the sound of the ocean, and enjoy traditional Hawaiian dishes. I really loved this spot. Definitely a recommendation, the price-to-quality ratio is perfect, and the prices are ideal.

Google
I found this spot while searching for kalua pork and garlic shrimp. They had these, plus many more options. The pork and cabbage plate was exactly what I'd hoped for and the garlic shrimp was large and flavorful. The smoothies looked good too, though we didn't get any on this visit. Friendly service and a covered seating area made this an especially pleasant counter service experience.

This restaurant was so good. Eating while watching the beachfront made it the perfect spot to chill, relax, and just enjoy some amazing food. The view was gorgeous and the food looked just as good. I got the eggs benedict and an acai bowl and both were delicious, fresh, and hit just right. Honestly, the whole vibe is pure Hawaiian bliss. Great spot to hang out, take in the scenery, and enjoy a nice meal. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

We had a delicious, fresh lunch at Barefoot Beach Cafe last week. Lots of choices on the menu! My avocado toast with an over-easy fried egg had fresh arugula, tomato and just enough feta to give the egg a nice bit of saltiness, and the presentation on the ceramic plate was bright and cheerful with a piece of fresh pineapple and a flower blossom. There was live music (very good, too!) while we were there for lunch, and the covered seating allowed us to see the ocean while enjoying the shade and cool breezes. A great stop for lunch!

Google
What a pleasant evening by the beach to walk, eat, enjoy the music and watch the sunset. We would definitely come back! We got the poke bowl, surfers fried rice, surf & turf, royal loco moco and vegan loco moco. My only complaint is the fried rice was lacking flavor and not a soy sauce bottle or packet in sight. We added some shoyu sauce but it needed something more. It was really nice to have some music and a little performance too.

This is a popular cafe on the beach, and the crowds prove it. We came on a Sunday right before New Year's, at 9a, and there was a fairly long line. But frustratingly, the ordering process seemed to be excessively long (took 30min to get to the front of a line of about 25 people) - the cashier would take an order, then mill about in the kitchen, disappear, then come back a few minutes later. I get that Christmas time in Waikiki is super busy, but the food was actually coming out at a faster rate than the orders were being taken. Overall I thought the food was fine, nothing particularly special, nor was it a great value (breakfast entrees ranged $15-20). The highlight is the seaside location, and the live music (even so early in the morning) was nice. But I would not come out of my way for this. By the way, they don't have a liquor license (ie no alcohol), and they put a 3% credit card surcharge for payments.

Google
This is my favorite breakfast spot in Honolulu! They have the best breakfast sandwich and as a breakfast sandwich connoisseur this is high praise! The North Shore pineapple smoothies are so worth it! I get one every time I go. The line may look long but the service is always fast. And the people who work there are the sweetest. We have been many times and every time we have a fabulous experience

Yelp
This is an outdoor only restaurant along the beach. It's like a pavilion turned restaurant. The view is pretty from here. There is street parking available. I paid $0.50 an hour at a meter. We ordered the sweetbread french toast, fish and chips, garlic fries, beach breakfast plate add shrimp, and whole north shore pineapple smoothie. Everything was solid, not amazing, but solid. I personally enjoyed the whole pineapple smoothie most. PS there are a lot of birds. I don't recommend sitting underneath a tree. You might get bird turd on you like we did and we were barely under a branch.

Yelp
I am really happy that construction work next to the restaurant is done so we can enjoy the view again. Best acai bowl in town. Today I tried breakfast burrito and was delicious.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Spinach cheese omelette with strawberry banana smoothie and an orange juice Spiked avocado toast with egg and coffee Very tasty and nice atmosphere, busy but not noisy. 15+ minute wait to order but food was served up pretty quickly $56 for both, not too bad for amazing beach front view.

Yelp
Delicious Hidden Breakfast spot on Queens beach. Located between Walls and the waikiki aquarium. Parking is street parking or at the Honolulu zoo parking. We went here after the Petwalk at kapiolani park perfect breakfast spot and Dog Friendly eating on the outdoor tables. Gorgeous view of the beach and great beach vibes. We shared an Acai bowl, eggs Benedict and taco trio. They even serve Illy coffee delicious! Order and pay for your food then grab a spot to sit and wait for them to call your name. Service is so friendly and they do a great job at getting the food out efficiently. Perfect place for breakfast and lunch.

Yelp
What could be better than fresh fish at the water's edge? Enjoyed fish sandwiches. Always the 'fresh catch'; today's was swordfish. Delicious lunch, beautiful view and great people-watching. Prices are reasonable, too, at this 'order at the counter' venue.
google avatar

Yelp
I heard they have amazing smoothies so I decided to check it out. It exceeded my expectations. I got the Pina colada smoothie and it was in fact the best I've ever had. Great consistency and flavor and blended smoothly.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to Barefoot Cafe a few times and the food is always consistent. I always get the steak plate and it's cooked perfectly every time. They have live music and it's such a great spot to watch the sunset while enjoying your meal. The staff is incredibly friendly and make the experience even better. Looking forward to returning and trying out something new.
google avatar

Sahridaya N.

Yelp
Come here purely for the vibes and beach view cause the food is passable. We got their vegan loco moco which was honestly very bland. Their gourmet sweet potato fries was the saviour & the mangonada juice was alright too. The vibes especially in the morning is amazing!

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled upon this cute cafe as we were walking along the beach from Kaimana's. It's an open-air, outside, order and seat yourself type of place. What caught our eyes were the live music and fresh grinds. The staff were super friendly! Emily is probably one of the nicest cashiers I have ever met at a window! I felt like a guest and not customer! Timing of food was relatively quick considering what we got! I mean, my friend requested a rare steak which is exactly what she got and loved it. That compound butter really topped it off! Salad was pretty basic with it. My fresh ahi burger tasted fresh fresh! I would say, I love onions and it was a bit much for me! There is onion in the mix and red onions, which kind of overpowers the burger! However, the sauce on it tied it all together! I just wish there was more sauce! The patty was not dry and rather very moist though! Fries could have been cooked a tad longer. Overall, I would probably order the Ahi burger again, but ask for extra sauce on the side! I would definitely want to try their garlic fries. Unfortunately, I couldn't upgrade my fries to garlic fries! Would i come back? Probably would! The price is pretty reasonable considering it's Waikiki prices! The ambiance really makes this place stand out though with live music and the sound of the ocean too! Definitely want to go during sunset. They do acai bowls too that look amazing!
google avatar

Oksanna S.

Yelp
My all-time favourite spot on the island. The spot is perfect for catching a gorgeous sunset often accompanied by traditional live music. Every time i've gotten food from here it has been consistently delicious (and the free fries side dish, hard to beat!). The smoothies are super refreshing as well. This has become the go to birthday spot with me and my friends. Definitely recommend it!
google avatar

Drew M.

Yelp
Chill spot right in front of the beach with perfect views. Quick service, just order at the window and pick a spot to sit. When you get your food be sure to not leave it unattended, birds will swoop in quickly We ordered a Kalua Pork plate, it was big enough for two, for a light lunch. The pork was super yummy and flavourful!

Yelp
What matters to me may or may not matter to you. First of all, I walked 30 mins to get to this location and there are no restrooms for the restaurant. They send you to the public restrooms in the park. So dirty. The smell. Disgusting. Oh and it gets worse. No soap to wash your hands. I pretty sure this is the first time I have eaten my food after using a restroom and not washing my hands. Ugh The burrito was good but a basic breakfast burrito. Not a lot of flavor. I got bacon and added avocado. I will say the prices are so good. You can get a breakfast sandwich for $9 the burrito was $14. And it was so ginormous I could only eat half. The avocado was fresh and so delicious

Yelp
After scanning Yelp for breakfast spots, we found Barefoot Beach Cafe in Waikiki, and this place absolutely deserves its Yelp status as a top-ranking spot! Located on the south side of Waikiki, right next to the zoo, it's got an incredible beachside view that feels like a Caribbean getaway. The blue water, gentle breeze, and relaxed atmosphere make it pure magic. We arrived early, which was a good call since the line can get long, but tables turn over fairly quickly, so you're not left waiting too long. The food is phenomenal. I ordered the fluffy buttery pancakes and their world-famous pineapple smoothie (they must sell hundreds daily--it's that good, bursting with tropical flavor). My wife couldn't stop raving about the eggs Benedict, with its perfectly poached eggs and rich, creamy hollandaise sauce. The food came out fast, which was a nice touch when we were eager to enjoy that stunning beach view. The staff and locals are super laid-back and friendly, adding to the relaxed vibe. It's the kind of spot where you can linger, sip your smoothie, and soak in the scenery. If you're in Waikiki looking for a breakfast spot with amazing food, unbeatable views, and island charm, Barefoot Beach Cafe is a must-visit. Pro tip: don't skip that pineapple smoothie!

Yelp
I came to Barefoot Beach Cafe for the first meal of my Hawaiian honeymoon and was happy to have kicked off my vacation so perfectly! Barefoot Beach Cafe is a cute little spot near Waikīkī Beach and tucked into the banyan trees of Kapiolani Park. It's a counter service restaurant that calls your name over a speaker when your order is ready. Seating is available on the patio overlooking the beach and under their awning. I ordered a plate of loco moco and a side of guava juice. I was nervous at first about ordering the guava juice as the price tag is much higher than I would expect when ordering a can of Aloha Maid or Hawaiian Sun. To my pleasant surprise, the staff member working the counter handed me a bottle of Govinda's Guava Nectar; a next-level-delicious alternative. The loco moco came out beautifully, garnished with a flower and a wedge of that sweet O'ahu-grown pineapple. While I only visited this spot for breakfast during my trip, their menu covers all three meals (plus smoothies and shave ice) and has extensive vegan options. We noticed that they also host live music sessions on weekend nights, so it seems to be a solid spot to hang out at any time of day. (The only point of caution here is to be careful about the birds and never leave your food unattended!) If you're looking for a cute little retreat just outside of the hustle and bustle of Waikīkī, the Barefoot Beach Cafe is just a short walk away from Kuhio Beach and absolutely worth checking out!

Yelp
The service is fast and friendly. The fresh fish and garlic shrimp plate is delicious. The Kalua pork is great, as are the specialty mocktails. You can't beat the gorgeous view from this little gem. Music most nights with an island vibe. Recommend

Yelp
Cute beach front restaurant usually with a live musician and gorgeous ocean in the background. I really loved the laid back culture here. The staff was chill and fast with the food orders! I ordered a fish and chips which were light, flaky and to die for! My significant other ordered an acai bowl and the north shore pineapple smoothie. Wow both were so sweet! We've never had fruit taste so fresh and sweet in the usa before! Anyone taking a tour of Oahu must try this low-key but amazing place! Oh and also... if you go at around 7:00-ish you can catch a beautiful sunset!

Yelp
Lovely cute little cafe right by the beach. It was about a 20-25 minute walk from our hotel. The food is okay but the drinks were good. Come here for the views, the ambiance, and the live music

Yelp
Beautiful view with outside seating Walk up and order Open seating I ordered the spicy garlic shrimp. It was really good, I just wish it was actually spicy and more garlic . The sauce on the shrimp had good flavor as well.

Yelp
The Barefoot Beach Cafe is a popular place to grab a meal or smoothie because the cafe is located on the waterfront just east of Waikiki Beach. I have been a couple times and there is always a small line to order food. Yesterday, I took my granddaughter for a meal and some Dole whip. There is a chain link fence that now is surrounding the dining area as there appears to be some break wall construction going on. As you look pass the fence you have a lovely view of the ocean and Waikiki. The menu offers a nice mix of popular local favorites including Loco Moco, Garlic Shrimp and even a fresh catch of the day. Portions are large and definitely sharable. There is no kid's menu. Prices are reasonable for the portion size. I ordered the fish and chips. The food was out in about 15 minutes. The panko batter seemed a little overcooked (dark and tough) but the white fish was moist and good. The fries are hand cut and we're on the dark side, which I like. The plate was artful. My granddaughter's Dole Whip took about 30 minutes to come out, I guess they were just getting the machine going. She was a little antsy. She loved her little cup of creamy frozen pineapple. Breakfast plates looked delicious. There is patio seating, some covered. The staff is friendly, although if you have a problem, it is hard to get anyone's attention. Tables are kept clean. Even though my meal wasn't perfect, I still recommend.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at barefoot Beach Café in Waikiki. Food was excellent service was outstanding. They even took care of a little problem I had... Don't leave your food unattended. The birds will help themselves. Staff was gracious and gave me a new sandwich without charge

Yelp
The salad and cheeseburger and fries were really good . So were all the smoothies . Great place to go after the zoo or the aquarium with the family. Food was ready quickly and the scenery of the ocean was very beautiful .
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
They have live music in the evenings, and I chose this spot specifically on a Friday night to eat and then be perfectly situated to catch a great view of the 8pm Hilton fireworks show. I had to have the Loco Moco...delicious and did not disappoint! I also got a Lava Flow smoothie (cute umbrella drink!), although the ones that people had with the whole intact pineapple looked extra fancy. There was a line, but it moved quickly. Your name is called on the speaker to pick up food at the window. Self-serve utensils and seating is first-come. Since I was solo, I felt bad taking up a whole table but it worked out. I was super tempted to also get the Dole Whip dessert, but the Lava Flow smoothie satisfied my sweet tooth just fine after the meal. Great spot to catch the sunset and stars along the water, and an easy walk.

Yelp
Dog Friendly * Service* Ambiance * This is just for the fries I needed a snack before dinner they were hot which was good but kinda brownish, greasy, and soft - so not the greatest tasting but wonder if its just their standard or was this a not so good of a batch???
google avatar

Abby W.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast but I ended up getting fish and chips instead of breakfast food. Most of the breakfast items only come with pork-based meat and I don't eat pork but I wanted something more than just pancakes. The fish and chips caught my eye and I'm so glad I got them. There's just something special about fish and chips in Hawaii. The tartar sauce tasted different than what I'm used but it wasn't bad. The fries seemed freshly cut and better than standard fast food fries.
google avatar

Jeanette M.

Yelp
Such a cute little spot. I really enjoyed my open space sandwich for breakfast. Their coffee is also really good. I would suggest getting the macadamia nut coffee. The line looks really long yet. They moved through it quite quickly and was impressed with their service.
google avatar

Olivia S.

Yelp
Delicious food & beautiful views! You have to line up to place your order & it's a seat yourself situation. The line was long but it moved quickly. The outdoor seating could have used some more umbrellas for shade, but overall good food in a gorgeous location.
google avatar

Carlota H.

Yelp
Outstanding customer service. Staff very friendly. Food delicious, especially the pulled pork. Open air seating with great view of ocean and park.
google avatar

Bill B.

Yelp
Breakfast by the sea--what more could you ask for? Just a short stroll from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, this laid-back outdoor spot delivers delicious food with a view. We loved the Surfer's Loco Moco with fried rice--hearty and packed with flavor--and the Eggs Benedict was perfectly done. Great beachside vibes, friendly service, and the sound of the ocean nearby made it a perfect start to our day. Highly recommend if you're looking to relax and eat well by the water.
google avatar

Julie V.

Yelp
What a great place for a bite to eat right on the beach! It's a short walk on the beach just down from the "lagoon" area of Waikiki, away from the commercial end of Waikiki. The line was a bit long & slow but there was plenty of seating, vegan/vegetarian choices but I had a burger & it was really good! Smoothies, coffees, sodas, fruit. It was a great place to enjoy lunch on the beach!

Mari F.

Yelp
Amazing views and great food! Quick service and friendly staff. Love this place every time we visit. We usually go in the evening and get a great sunset and live music too!
google avatar

Ame L.

Yelp
Love comming here during our staycation with the family:) the staff is so nice and the food for the price is reasonable for Waikiki. Located right in front of a popular surf spot the views are beautiful and it's tucked away in the end corner of kapiolani park, away from the crowds. There's lots of seating but this time we ordered takeout to sit in the park under the trees:)
google avatar

Madeleine J.

Yelp
I've been to this cafe a handful of times and will keep coming back. The front was under construction as of a week ago so the view was partially obstructed, but usually it's a beautiful view right on the beach-- so perfect for sunset. They have live music during the evenings which is such a great atmosphere, especially since it's a little bit removed from the chaos of downtown Waikiki. The smoothies are refreshing-- a bit on the sweet side. And the garlic fries are a bit greasy and garlic-y for my typical liking, but delicious nonetheless.
google avatar

Ale T.

Yelp
Want tasty food? Want to enjoy a beautiful ocean view while enjoying that tasty food? Want some light entertainment to go along with that ocean view and tasty food? Well, Barefoot Beach Cafe is your place to go then! I had the omelet with the garlic shrimp, and it hit the spot with a lightly iced mocha. The lightly iced mocha was the best iced mocha I have had recently. I suggest being very clear about any substitution requests, as my substitution was misunderstood. Other than that, the food, the beautiful ambiance, and the surfers in the background make me highly recommend going here.
google avatar

Helen T.

Yelp
We were walking along the beach walkway and discovered this super cute cafe. Then we decided to come and have an early dinner here. The food and drinks on the menu was super reasonable for it being in waikiki. That already was a big plus for me. We ordered fish and chips, the cheese burgers, and 2 Loco mocos. Fish and chips were crispy and big. The Loco moco was alright, we thought the gravy tasted weird. It had a heavy taste of soyu sauce. It kinda threw us off. I love how the restaurant sit right infront of the beach. Beautiful view! Definitely coming back for the smoothie menu. It looked good.
google avatar

gina b.

Yelp
This place was delicious, it was right on the beach, and the service was friendly. Reasonably priced for being on the tourist strip.
google avatar

Marcy L.

Yelp
It's a takeout only area where you buy food from the counter and they call your name when it's ready. I'd say the place would look nicer had there not been construction blocking the ocean view. I got the fish and chips and it was okay.. The fish was definitely cheap fish and I did not like the taste. The fries and white sauce were probably the best thing on this plate! Breading on the fish was good and crunchy, but the fish itself I did not enjoy. For $16 I would say this was okay but something I would not come again for. Place had a good location so I would come again to try something else.
google avatar

Andrea P.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the view while I ate was absolutely beautiful! Definitely recommend

Yelp
Food was amazing! French toast and pancakes did not disappoint! Lots of options for you and your family! Coffee was great! The server was very kind, funny and nice! Me and my family loved eating by the beach! It was a great and lovely experience overall! #Willbecomingfordinner! Ended up coming for dinner! Had an awesome time! Food was phenomenal!!! The pulled pork was perfectly proportioned! Their bbq sauce is to die for! My daughter has the açaí bowl and she loved it! She usually doesn't finish her food but she ate it all! The surf and turf was an excellent choice! Shrimp and sirloin steak was cooked to perfection! All meals except the açaí bowl came with a nice little slice of pineapple to finish off your meal! Definitely coming here again once we're back in Hawaii!
google avatar

Avery W.

Yelp
The food here is AMAZING and the drinks are somehow even better. It is right on the beach and reasonably priced. The only downside is the seating is a little dirty and there are pigeons all around trying to eat your food. I would this to anyone looking for a quick brunch.
google avatar

Anita L.

Yelp
If you're wondering where everyone on Waikiki is getting the pineapple smoothies from... this is the place!! The Dole pineapple smoothie is so so good, and such a fun way to eat your pineapple! The Hawaiian brioche French toast was great! Add macadamia and you won't regret it. You don't even need syrup for this because the bread is so flavorful! With fresh fruit on top, I wouldn't change a thing! There's live music sometimes too, so you're in for a really relaxing vibe!
google avatar

Liz K.

Yelp
Beach concession stands tend to overpromise and under deliver. Barefoot is the rare exception! The location is prime, the seating is plentiful, the food is surprisingly yummy (with vegetarian options!), and the prices aren't outrageous.
google avatar

Beau P.

Yelp
Yeah this place was smacking! I had the Hawaiian Bbq Chicken Sandwich and I ate it in front of chickens that could've been chicken pidgins. We don't truly know yet. The view of Waikiki beach was very beautiful to go along with a great meal! Yeah ima have to go 5/5 Beauski stars on this one. Make sure to like and subscribe for more reviews!

B L.

Yelp
I've been here dozens and dozens of time. It's a great quick stop on the beach. But I have to warn everyone that veggie burger was weird. Bad. It is accompanied by gluten-free bun, which they do not mention on their online menu. Other vegetarian options are really good and I would highly recommend this place. Just stay away from the veg burger. Gross.
google avatar

Marija P.

Yelp
We were walking by the boardwalk and saw this café and had to stop by. We had to try dole whip, which was amazing, but they have great selection of smoothies, quick bites, and açai, oceanfront, dining, great views of Honolulu city. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
As many others have said, lovely views, okay food. I ordered the garlic shrimp plate and there were definitely some things they could improve: 1. Take a note from Giovanni's and provide an extra plate for the shrimp shells 2. Could barely taste garlic 3. Put the salad in a bowl so it doesn't become grossly saturated with shrimp sauce. Just not the best garlic shrimp, and sadly the slice of pineapple on the plate was the best part. I even ordered the pineapple cup for dessert but it was not as sweet. Which of course is just luck of the draw. But yeah I would eat here again if I was hanging out on queens again, just would never go out of my way to eat here. Oh and my friends got the fish and chips and the acai bowl and they both said it was pretty good but no one seemed excited about it lol
google avatar

Athrun Z.

Yelp
Perfect! The food, the view, the beach, the price and live music during dinner. It checked all the boxes for me. I had the Kailua Pork with Cabbage for lunch and Salad with BBQ Chicken for sunset dinner.
google avatar

Debbie H.

Yelp
I was looking for the best of both worlds - food and sunset on the beach. Definitely found it here. The menu is quite diverse with a variety of breakfast items, handhelds, and plates, I opted for the burger with avocado , no bun, it was cooked well and tasted nice. I had a choice of fries, sweet potato fries or salad for my side. The salad was fresh. While I didn't have any, there are numerous desert options from ice cream and cheesecake to Dole whip. There was a long line but it moved quickly and I was sitting on the beach (right in front of this establishment) in time for sunset.
google avatar

Leanne D.

Yelp
We walked down Kalakaua to check out the Barefoot Beach Cafe since we were planning to come here for dinner the next day since we heard it was right on the water and had beautiful views of Kūhiō and Waikiki Beach. Unfortunately, there is some construction happening right next to it so the solid fencing is blocking the beautiful views of Waikiki. The patio seating is very small too. We were very disappointed and decided to skip the cafe for dinner the next night. On the plus side, they did have live entertainment and the musician was very good.
google avatar

Van L.

Yelp
I tried the fish and chips, french toast, açaí bowl, and loco moco and everything was beautifully presented and delish! Don't expect to be blown away by the food but the views and vibes are immaculate! Recommend 4.2/5
