Google
After scanning Yelp for breakfast spots, we found Barefoot Beach Cafe in Waikiki, and this place absolutely deserves its Yelp status as a top-ranking spot! Located on the south side of Waikiki at the Queen’s Beach, right next to the zoo, it’s got an incredible beachside view that feels like a Caribbean getaway. The blue water, gentle breeze, and relaxed atmosphere make it pure magic. We arrived early, which was a good call since the line can get long, but tables turn over fairly quickly, so you’re not left waiting too long. The food is phenomenal. I ordered the fluffy buttery pancakes and their world-famous pineapple smoothie (they must sell hundreds daily—it’s that good, bursting with tropical flavor). My wife couldn’t stop raving about the eggs Benedict, with its perfectly poached eggs and rich, creamy hollandaise sauce. The food came out fast, which was a nice touch when we were eager to enjoy that stunning beach view. The staff and locals are super laid-back and friendly, adding to the relaxed vibe. It’s the kind of spot where you can linger, sip your smoothie, and soak in the scenery. If you’re in Waikiki looking for a breakfast spot with amazing food, unbeatable views, and island charm, Barefoot Beach Cafe is a must-visit. Pro tip: don’t skip that pineapple smoothie!

Google
Amazing little spot right on the water that is fantastic for breakfast and reasonably priced compared to other breakfast restaurants in the area. The breakfast burrito was delicious! We were lucky to have a table for 2 right by the flowers to take in the sea breeze. Everything was clean and organized. This is a very popular place, so we had to wait as soon as they opened, so get here early if you don't want to be in a long line, especially on the weekends. There is some construction going on, but it's not in their control, so don't let that bother you. There is still a nice park area and water views. It's a perfect little place to eat outside and away from the extremely busy Waikiki beach area.

Google
Pros and Cons. Great place to watch the sunset, picnic tables quite close to the water, live music. Pretty casual. The food was quite good. We loved the smoothies, fruit bowl, swordfish, and bread pudding. Did not like the blueberries, tasted very off. Tables could be cleaner. The line was long at 7:30 p.m. 45 minutes to get up to the counter, and another 45 minutes to get our food.

The neighbor property is under construction do it takes away from the seaside views otherwise would enjoy. Its on the beach so I'm sure very nice otherwise. The food was just OK. Priced ok given the area but the fish and chips I did not enjoy. Just was not for me. There were lots of flies. They have open containers of food garbage right near the window where you pick up your food. This is an easy fix and could easily move or have covered cans or remove in timely ways to cut down on flies which is not good while eating. The music band playing is nice. We actually ate here twice because of a recommendation from friends but I would not recommend until they deal with a few things. It has huge potential but they need a fresh start to being so dated and running it like it's 1970. I would be happy to advise how to make it better from a customer standpoint

Google
Our visit to Barefoot Beach Cafe was an incredible experience! The oceanfront seating is absolutely amazing, offering unbelievable views that make every moment special. The food was great and surprisingly affordable, especially for Waikiki. I highly recommend the fish and chips, which were perfectly crispy and delicious. Don’t forget to try the Dole Whip for dessert—it was fantastic! The live Hawaiian music made the sunset even more memorable (live music nightly). Overall, a perfect spot for a meal with a breathtaking backdrop. Five stars!

Google
This was a neat little hole in the wall that we loved! I got swordfish and my wife got bbq chicken. These meals came with plenty of food and we got to listen to some great live music while we ate. This place is located right on the beach which also made it a fun experience. My only complaint was the garlic fries. They tasted like they were barely cooked and drowned in garlic sauce to the point that they were a soggy mess. Wouldn’t recommend those but the rest of the food and drinks were top tier

Google
We walked barefoot down the beach and came upon the Barefoot Beach Cafe.. A walk up counter service and seperate window for pick up. Lots of open air seating with shade. My wife and I both had the Ahi Poke bowls, Hawaiian Style and I ordered Fish & Chips as an impulse when I saw it pass by me... Everything was fantastic! 2nd Review.. As we came back for Breakfast! We had an Avocado toast without the egg and a breakfast burrito (bacon, egg, potatoes & chz) Both were large portions and were delicious! The older gentleman helping clear tables was such a nice person and a hard worker..

I stopped by for brunch. I ordered my favorite pineapple smoothie and juice. The popular terrace seats were available, so I was able to relax this time. I'll definitely stop by again!

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled upon this cute cafe as we were walking along the beach from Kaimana's. It's an open-air, outside, order and seat yourself type of place. What caught our eyes were the live music and fresh grinds. The staff were super friendly! Emily is probably one of the nicest cashiers I have ever met at a window! I felt like a guest and not customer! Timing of food was relatively quick considering what we got! I mean, my friend requested a rare steak which is exactly what she got and loved it. That compound butter really topped it off! Salad was pretty basic with it. My fresh ahi burger tasted fresh fresh! I would say, I love onions and it was a bit much for me! There is onion in the mix and red onions, which kind of overpowers the burger! However, the sauce on it tied it all together! I just wish there was more sauce! The patty was not dry and rather very moist though! Fries could have been cooked a tad longer. Overall, I would probably order the Ahi burger again, but ask for extra sauce on the side! I would definitely want to try their garlic fries. Unfortunately, I couldn't upgrade my fries to garlic fries! Would i come back? Probably would! The price is pretty reasonable considering it's Waikiki prices! The ambiance really makes this place stand out though with live music and the sound of the ocean too! Definitely want to go during sunset. They do acai bowls too that look amazing!

Yelp
Chill spot right in front of the beach with perfect views. Quick service, just order at the window and pick a spot to sit. When you get your food be sure to not leave it unattended, birds will swoop in quickly We ordered a Kalua Pork plate, it was big enough for two, for a light lunch. The pork was super yummy and flavourful!

Yelp
Cute beach front restaurant usually with a live musician and gorgeous ocean in the background. I really loved the laid back culture here. The staff was chill and fast with the food orders! I ordered a fish and chips which were light, flaky and to die for! My significant other ordered an acai bowl and the north shore pineapple smoothie. Wow both were so sweet! We've never had fruit taste so fresh and sweet in the usa before! Anyone taking a tour of Oahu must try this low-key but amazing place! Oh and also... if you go at around 7:00-ish you can catch a beautiful sunset!

Yelp
I came to Barefoot Beach Cafe for the first meal of my Hawaiian honeymoon and was happy to have kicked off my vacation so perfectly! Barefoot Beach Cafe is a cute little spot near Waikīkī Beach and tucked into the banyan trees of Kapiolani Park. It's a counter service restaurant that calls your name over a speaker when your order is ready. Seating is available on the patio overlooking the beach and under their awning. I ordered a plate of loco moco and a side of guava juice. I was nervous at first about ordering the guava juice as the price tag is much higher than I would expect when ordering a can of Aloha Maid or Hawaiian Sun. To my pleasant surprise, the staff member working the counter handed me a bottle of Govinda's Guava Nectar; a next-level-delicious alternative. The loco moco came out beautifully, garnished with a flower and a wedge of that sweet O'ahu-grown pineapple. While I only visited this spot for breakfast during my trip, their menu covers all three meals (plus smoothies and shave ice) and has extensive vegan options. We noticed that they also host live music sessions on weekend nights, so it seems to be a solid spot to hang out at any time of day. (The only point of caution here is to be careful about the birds and never leave your food unattended!) If you're looking for a cute little retreat just outside of the hustle and bustle of Waikīkī, the Barefoot Beach Cafe is just a short walk away from Kuhio Beach and absolutely worth checking out!

Yelp
What matters to me may or may not matter to you. First of all, I walked 30 mins to get to this location and there are no restrooms for the restaurant. They send you to the public restrooms in the park. So dirty. The smell. Disgusting. Oh and it gets worse. No soap to wash your hands. I pretty sure this is the first time I have eaten my food after using a restroom and not washing my hands. Ugh The burrito was good but a basic breakfast burrito. Not a lot of flavor. I got bacon and added avocado. I will say the prices are so good. You can get a breakfast sandwich for $9 the burrito was $14. And it was so ginormous I could only eat half. The avocado was fresh and so delicious

Yelp
The salad and cheeseburger and fries were really good . So were all the smoothies . Great place to go after the zoo or the aquarium with the family. Food was ready quickly and the scenery of the ocean was very beautiful .

Yelp
Perfect! The food, the view, the beach, the price and live music during dinner. It checked all the boxes for me. I had the Kailua Pork with Cabbage for lunch and Salad with BBQ Chicken for sunset dinner.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Good range of Vegan dishes for breakfast/ brunch options. Unfortunately they were out of Dole Whip due to the machine being broken.

Yelp
I've been to this cafe a handful of times and will keep coming back. The front was under construction as of a week ago so the view was partially obstructed, but usually it's a beautiful view right on the beach-- so perfect for sunset. They have live music during the evenings which is such a great atmosphere, especially since it's a little bit removed from the chaos of downtown Waikiki. The smoothies are refreshing-- a bit on the sweet side. And the garlic fries are a bit greasy and garlic-y for my typical liking, but delicious nonetheless.
google avatar

Abby W.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast but I ended up getting fish and chips instead of breakfast food. Most of the breakfast items only come with pork-based meat and I don't eat pork but I wanted something more than just pancakes. The fish and chips caught my eye and I'm so glad I got them. There's just something special about fish and chips in Hawaii. The tartar sauce tasted different than what I'm used but it wasn't bad. The fries seemed freshly cut and better than standard fast food fries.
google avatar

Khiet E.

Yelp
Beautiful view with outside seating Walk up and order Open seating I ordered the spicy garlic shrimp. It was really good, I just wish it was actually spicy and more garlic . The sauce on the shrimp had good flavor as well.

Yelp
Breakfast by the sea--what more could you ask for? Just a short stroll from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, this laid-back outdoor spot delivers delicious food with a view. We loved the Surfer's Loco Moco with fried rice--hearty and packed with flavor--and the Eggs Benedict was perfectly done. Great beachside vibes, friendly service, and the sound of the ocean nearby made it a perfect start to our day. Highly recommend if you're looking to relax and eat well by the water.

Yelp
The Barefoot Beach Cafe is a popular place to grab a meal or smoothie because the cafe is located on the waterfront just east of Waikiki Beach. I have been a couple times and there is always a small line to order food. Yesterday, I took my granddaughter for a meal and some Dole whip. There is a chain link fence that now is surrounding the dining area as there appears to be some break wall construction going on. As you look pass the fence you have a lovely view of the ocean and Waikiki. The menu offers a nice mix of popular local favorites including Loco Moco, Garlic Shrimp and even a fresh catch of the day. Portions are large and definitely sharable. There is no kid's menu. Prices are reasonable for the portion size. I ordered the fish and chips. The food was out in about 15 minutes. The panko batter seemed a little overcooked (dark and tough) but the white fish was moist and good. The fries are hand cut and we're on the dark side, which I like. The plate was artful. My granddaughter's Dole Whip took about 30 minutes to come out, I guess they were just getting the machine going. She was a little antsy. She loved her little cup of creamy frozen pineapple. Breakfast plates looked delicious. There is patio seating, some covered. The staff is friendly, although if you have a problem, it is hard to get anyone's attention. Tables are kept clean. Even though my meal wasn't perfect, I still recommend.

Yelp
I tried the fish and chips, french toast, açaí bowl, and loco moco and everything was beautifully presented and delish! Don't expect to be blown away by the food but the views and vibes are immaculate! Recommend 4.2/5
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
They have live music in the evenings, and I chose this spot specifically on a Friday night to eat and then be perfectly situated to catch a great view of the 8pm Hilton fireworks show. I had to have the Loco Moco...delicious and did not disappoint! I also got a Lava Flow smoothie (cute umbrella drink!), although the ones that people had with the whole intact pineapple looked extra fancy. There was a line, but it moved quickly. Your name is called on the speaker to pick up food at the window. Self-serve utensils and seating is first-come. Since I was solo, I felt bad taking up a whole table but it worked out. I was super tempted to also get the Dole Whip dessert, but the Lava Flow smoothie satisfied my sweet tooth just fine after the meal. Great spot to catch the sunset and stars along the water, and an easy walk.

Yelp
Dog Friendly * Service* Ambiance * This is just for the fries I needed a snack before dinner they were hot which was good but kinda brownish, greasy, and soft - so not the greatest tasting but wonder if its just their standard or was this a not so good of a batch???
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
The food was really good. We tried the breakfast burrito, pancakes, French toast, and fries. All 10/10. The only thing was that the view is currently blocked due to construction. However, still good vibes and service from the staff. Glad it wasn't too crowded.
google avatar

Odanys V.

Yelp
I've only ever had breakfast here but it's a great first stop before taking a long walk for me. It's all outdoor seating overlooking the ocean and I think it's pretty clean especially with all the birds. Staff is nice and food is good/hot.
google avatar

Marcy L.

Yelp
It's a takeout only area where you buy food from the counter and they call your name when it's ready. I'd say the place would look nicer had there not been construction blocking the ocean view. I got the fish and chips and it was okay.. The fish was definitely cheap fish and I did not like the taste. The fries and white sauce were probably the best thing on this plate! Breading on the fish was good and crunchy, but the fish itself I did not enjoy. For $16 I would say this was okay but something I would not come again for. Place had a good location so I would come again to try something else.
google avatar

Leanne D.

Yelp
We walked down Kalakaua to check out the Barefoot Beach Cafe since we were planning to come here for dinner the next day since we heard it was right on the water and had beautiful views of Kūhiō and Waikiki Beach. Unfortunately, there is some construction happening right next to it so the solid fencing is blocking the beautiful views of Waikiki. The patio seating is very small too. We were very disappointed and decided to skip the cafe for dinner the next night. On the plus side, they did have live entertainment and the musician was very good.
google avatar

Samantha V.

Yelp
Food was amazing! French toast and pancakes did not disappoint! Lots of options for you and your family! Coffee was great! The server was very kind, funny and nice! Me and my family loved eating by the beach! It was a great and lovely experience overall! #Willbecomingfordinner! Ended up coming for dinner! Had an awesome time! Food was phenomenal!!! The pulled pork was perfectly proportioned! Their bbq sauce is to die for! My daughter has the açaí bowl and she loved it! She usually doesn't finish her food but she ate it all! The surf and turf was an excellent choice! Shrimp and sirloin steak was cooked to perfection! All meals except the açaí bowl came with a nice little slice of pineapple to finish off your meal! Definitely coming here again once we're back in Hawaii!

Yelp
This place was delicious, it was right on the beach, and the service was friendly. Reasonably priced for being on the tourist strip.
google avatar

Jamie H.

Yelp
Came back because the food was good and at a good price, but once again the service was absolutely awful. There was a young lady taking orders. She snapped at the customer in front of us for asking for utensils. No smile, no greeting. I asked what she would recommend and she said "JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT" and rolled her eyes. I asked to see the manager and she said there was no manager on duty. I would NOT recommend coming here. The service is horrendous. They need to find better front of house ASAP.
google avatar

Ale T.

Yelp
Want tasty food? Want to enjoy a beautiful ocean view while enjoying that tasty food? Want some light entertainment to go along with that ocean view and tasty food? Well, Barefoot Beach Cafe is your place to go then! I had the omelet with the garlic shrimp, and it hit the spot with a lightly iced mocha. The lightly iced mocha was the best iced mocha I have had recently. I suggest being very clear about any substitution requests, as my substitution was misunderstood. Other than that, the food, the beautiful ambiance, and the surfers in the background make me highly recommend going here.
google avatar

Helen T.

Yelp
We were walking along the beach walkway and discovered this super cute cafe. Then we decided to come and have an early dinner here. The food and drinks on the menu was super reasonable for it being in waikiki. That already was a big plus for me. We ordered fish and chips, the cheese burgers, and 2 Loco mocos. Fish and chips were crispy and big. The Loco moco was alright, we thought the gravy tasted weird. It had a heavy taste of soyu sauce. It kinda threw us off. I love how the restaurant sit right infront of the beach. Beautiful view! Definitely coming back for the smoothie menu. It looked good.
google avatar

Sandra L.

Yelp
Great staff and service. We walked over from our hotel early in the morning for a quick bite with a nice view of the beach. The service was great and our orders came out just right! There wasn't a long wait and the menu is nice and simple. We will be returning! FIVE STARS.
google avatar

Manashwi G.

Yelp
This was my first time at the cafe and was disappointed with the food. We ordered vegan poke bowl, vegan loco moco and the vegan burger with fries and it seemed shortcuts were taken to make the food. Good location but microwaved frozen quality food.
google avatar

Jamie H.

Yelp
Heard lots of good reviews. But was shocked at how horrible the customer service was. The older lady that took our order was extremely disrespectful and just overall rude. The really set the tone for our evening. The food was good would definitely recommend the steak plate. Good price for the Waikiki area, coming from a local. I went back for dessert and She gave me attitude when asking what flavors of ice cream sandwiches they had she groaned and rolled her eyes at me. I'll definitely come back a different day hoping for a different cashier.

Yelp
What a gem. Beachfront casual dining for under 20$ a plate. Great food and great prices. Must try.
google avatar

Theodore M.

Yelp
Popular Al fresco location for breakfast and lunch. Quick service despite the line. Everything prepared fresh and are good size portions. Smoothies are delicious with a nice variety offered.
google avatar

Anita L.

Yelp
If you're wondering where everyone on Waikiki is getting the pineapple smoothies from... this is the place!! The Dole pineapple smoothie is so so good, and such a fun way to eat your pineapple! The Hawaiian brioche French toast was great! Add macadamia and you won't regret it. You don't even need syrup for this because the bread is so flavorful! With fresh fruit on top, I wouldn't change a thing! There's live music sometimes too, so you're in for a really relaxing vibe!
google avatar

Liz K.

Yelp
Beach concession stands tend to overpromise and under deliver. Barefoot is the rare exception! The location is prime, the seating is plentiful, the food is surprisingly yummy (with vegetarian options!), and the prices aren't outrageous.
google avatar

Alison And Mike P.

Yelp
Friendly staff and yummy food. Cool location close to the beach. But dang, the birds are no joke. There are signs saying not to leave food unattended but that's putting it lightly. We were batting birds away and kicking our legs the WHOLE time. It was traumatizing for our toddler who squealed and barely ate because the birds were too much. I think they should either communicate more clearly about what a nuisance the birds are and do something to try and regulate them - fencing or fans or something. Idk but honestly the bird issue would keep me from eating here again. We had the vegan loco moco which was yummy and had a bit of a curry kick to it. The fish and chips were good but a bit overdone.
google avatar

Dan C.

Yelp
Outstanding! The Barefoot gave my wife and I the best tasting meal in Waikīkī so far. Forget about Duke's and all the big corporate places in town. Most don't even have fish on the menu worth purchasing. I had a great grilled swordfish steak and my wife enjoyed her poke bowl tremendously. You can't beat the view.
google avatar

Ralf H.

Yelp
Loved that it is right at the beach, away from the main crowds, has good music from local artists in the evening, and the food is great with good value. Fish and chips are recommended as well as their fish of the day. We went several times and always enjoyed it. You can sit, eat and linger
google avatar

Marija P.

Yelp
We were walking by the boardwalk and saw this café and had to stop by. We had to try dole whip, which was amazing, but they have great selection of smoothies, quick bites, and açai, oceanfront, dining, great views of Honolulu city. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
As many others have said, lovely views, okay food. I ordered the garlic shrimp plate and there were definitely some things they could improve: 1. Take a note from Giovanni's and provide an extra plate for the shrimp shells 2. Could barely taste garlic 3. Put the salad in a bowl so it doesn't become grossly saturated with shrimp sauce. Just not the best garlic shrimp, and sadly the slice of pineapple on the plate was the best part. I even ordered the pineapple cup for dessert but it was not as sweet. Which of course is just luck of the draw. But yeah I would eat here again if I was hanging out on queens again, just would never go out of my way to eat here. Oh and my friends got the fish and chips and the acai bowl and they both said it was pretty good but no one seemed excited about it lol
google avatar

Debbie H.

Yelp
I was looking for the best of both worlds - food and sunset on the beach. Definitely found it here. The menu is quite diverse with a variety of breakfast items, handhelds, and plates, I opted for the burger with avocado , no bun, it was cooked well and tasted nice. I had a choice of fries, sweet potato fries or salad for my side. The salad was fresh. While I didn't have any, there are numerous desert options from ice cream and cheesecake to Dole whip. There was a long line but it moved quickly and I was sitting on the beach (right in front of this establishment) in time for sunset.

Don E.

Yelp
Outstanding! Locals rave about this, off the beaten path gem, and they couldn't be more spot on. We dined here for both breakfast and lunch on different days. A small cafe on the beach that serves awesome.....everything. We tried the delicious char-broiled hamburger, avocado toast and the generous breakfast burrito. The place was rightfully crowded and everyone seemed to be enjoying the eats and the view.
google avatar

Ellisa M.

Yelp
Good service, good food, good view of the ocean. We enjoyed watching the people swimming in Waikiki. Surfs up! We enjoyed watching the ships and boats further out in the beautiful blue sea.
google avatar

Kristine M.

Yelp
Barefoot beach cafe is a staple when spending a day in Waikiki. You can't get better views than this. Although there's som construction work happening next store, they keep the space clean and inviting. I've been to Barefoot Beach Cafe so many times and try to order something different every time. The tacos were small but had great flavor, I forget what the slaw mixture was on the inside but it tasted so fresh and the salsa added a nice spice. The burger was great and we really enjoyed the salted sweet potato fries. Service as usual was friendly and ordering was easy. I've noticed the fresh caught fish of the day has been swordfish almost every time I've visited, which does raise my alarm of "is it really todays fresh caught fish" or is this a pretty regular staple that they keep around? But never the less anytime I've had it, it is good. Maybe they have a good swordfish fishing spot.
google avatar

Genesis C.

Yelp
Food was really great here overall and they have tasty shaved ice but please be aware of the PIGEONS! If you leave your food out they will come and get it quickly. They attacked my friends plate when she left it to go get her drink and they had so many birds fly over there and get the rest of it. The waiter had to come get the birds to go away. I loved the food though and the set up was super cute. Go here for breakfast or brunch!
google avatar

Rylee C.

Yelp
There is no way to wash your hands here (no hand sanitizer, no soap; I asked about both) so I didn't get food. Closest bathrooms are ran by the city and also have no soap. Not providing soap for customers is seemingly a health code violation, so I figured they would be fine ignoring other health codes too. Also, I have good hygiene so I wash my hands before I eat. I was disappointed because this place was highly recommended. My partner did eat. Service was quick and friendly and my partner really enjoyed their food. Nice location and view.
google avatar

Palak G.

Yelp
Such a fun vibe at this cafe! A lil too sweet acai bowls.. but the view beats it all! Must visit.. right on the beach!
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
The food was delicious! Service was not the fastest but I didn't have to wait too long. You order at the window then go pick it up yourself. It's a seat yourselves environment. The view and ambience is beautiful with a very relaxed feel. I had one of the daily caught specials. I did overhear the lady next to me, who ordered poke, state that it was very undercooked. The restaurant fixed it promptly for her.
google avatar

Eduardo D.

Yelp
Food was OK. We had a vegan loco moco, breakfast sandwich, and breakfast burrito with a smoothie and it was delicious. Loco moco was generously portioned and very savory. Burrito and sandwich were fine. Construction next door so half the ocean view was blocked off but the half that wasn't was absolutely stunning. No complaints about the service it was fine. $50 total for 3 plates and a smoothie. Not really worth it.

Yelp
This is a great walk up place with outdoor seating. The food is delicious and the portions are large. Pricing is reasonable. We found the lady taking orders to be very nice. Be prepared that they do not have restrooms, but there is a beach restroom only steps away. The restroom doesn't have soap, so bring your own hand sanitizer! We highly recommend this place. You will love the food!

Yelp
A cute spot right on Waikiki Beach! The smoothies are very yummy! We went back the next morning for breakfast since they have a lot of vegan/vegetarian options. I ordered the vegan scramble. It was okay, just a bit bland in terms of flavor. I also ordered the garlic fries. Oh man - these were a garlic lovers dream! So delicious and would definitely order these again. The person taking out order behind the window was very outgoing and kind.
