A very nice and expensive bar with a great service with exceptional cocktails (one of my favorite Caipirinhas, my favorite Vesper and, so far, The Punctual Dry Martini (Ever!) lives in the house - Call for Bolinha. Call for him right away once you are there), but that is not a good place to be on weekends. The people are just too loud and you can barely hear the music and these people, they are, also, also, also, also flashy. They are mostly there to show off, which means: they are (mostly) not there for the music that keeps playing great.
Up until midnight, they play a mix of Bossa Nova, Cool Jazz and Vocal Jazz. After midnight, they go a little faster with the Swing, Bebop and (kind of) Big Band.
Personally, I rather stay before midnight to listen to a singer called Lorena (The bands are great too! I am not supposed to forget about them) doing a lower tempo. OK, it is cool to listen to a faster tempo, but eh, I rather stay low in a low light ambient, and mostly of the time I am thinking about my stuff, while I am drinking my juices.
Lorena is good. Man, this is for real, she is good, sweet and b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! However, for over two years now, she has been promoted to sing on weekends and that is the only reason I go there on Friday and Saturday nights.
You can definitely find this kind of place around the globe, this is not a local Brazilian type of bar (Google for the Botecos in town, they play the Samba there!), except for the Bossa that was created here, but well, you can even listen to Bossa across the oceans, but if you’re in town, why not? Well, I think you should.
Therefore, this is a nice place to go and you will probably have a fun time, even if you are $pending a little something while you are there.
