The unagi was quite respectable, with very fresh rice, plenty of sweet sauce, and well-barbequeed eel. The lunch special (bowl of miso, 3 nigiri, some futomaki, and some simple roll slices) was less impressive --- clearly the tail end of the day's prepped rolls, with the rice a little soft for my taste. The fish on the nigiri was still great, and the futomaki were fun (sprouts?), but the plain maki were pretty plain, and the white miso was more crunchy (onion perhaps?) and less flavorful than most of the versions I've tried.
Barfüsser claims to be one of the oldest gay-friendly bars in the world ("oldest continually operated", perhaps?). I stopped by during the after-lunch lull for a little sushi --- fine time to try the fish, but it was fairly quiet and didn't get much of a feel for the denizens.
