Most lovely place. We bought unique stationary from here. It’s a book binding store and teaching center.

When you walk into the Bari Zaki Studio you feel as if you've just discovered a treasure trove of rare and beautiful gems... because you have, in fact, done just that! The shop is full of special and useful items like butterfly clips covered in Japanese papers, beautiful imported pens, inks and erasers and hand bound journals. And pencils!!! a rainbow full of colored pencils.

This place is like the mom-and-pop version of Paper Source: a lovely, meditative, urban space with paper-centric cool stuff, minus the kitsch. Bari is delightful and has helped me many times with gift ideas (blank notebooks, paper-covered pencils, etc). And when a treasured book of poetry was falling apart and needed to be re-bound, she gave me a great referral. She hosts a lot of classes; some day soon I'll take one and review it. Seriously, put this studio on your list; it's like church for graphicophiles.

Wow - what an experience!! Signed up for a bookbinding class through the website not really sure what to expect - and ended up with a beautifully bound work of art thanks to Bari's instruction and a class packet that included everything I needed to make it happen. Would highly recommend this class experience. Have also purchased additional papers, books, pens, and bookbinding materials from Bari's shop and have been so pleased with her curation of the items she stocks - top notch.

Bari's love of the craft and all things paper is inspiring. I highly recommend her classes on binding and greatly enjoyed pursuing the shop. Amazing experience.

Google
The most beautiful paper, book binding, pens, pencils, etc. An assortment of delightful things for anyone who values handmade items, or is interested in calligraphy! I can't wait to take a class (will review, of course!)

Yelp
A seriously beautiful store with wonderful materials, but the real gem is the array of courses talk by the owner and her assorted expertise. I took the Bookful course for bookbinding and watercolor, which was a great group class. Even her shop newsletter is fun, with highlights of art and paper craft hitting your inbox for inspiration. Have bought stationary, pens, tape, fun collections of fancy paper offcuts too. Would recommend for any of your paper, ink, and creative needs - a great stop!

Yelp
How have I neglected to write a review... my bad What a fantastic shop filled with great items for the artist in your life. Any time I am in the neighbourhood I stop in, many of those times I have ended up buying something. Color pencils, regular mechanical, sketch book, etc. This shop is well laid out and the owner is on hand for questions. Side note they offer classes in bookbinding any other endeavours.

Yelp
Bought ink for my fountainhead pens. This Japanese ink (Kyo Nooto) is $28 a package (3-4x more than what you'd pay for Parker/Montblanc ink), but was highly recommended by the store owner. It is somewhat nicer than Montblanc and Parker ink, but not noticeable enough to justify the price point. Beautiful shop, with a knowledgeable owner. When I walked in, there was a calligraphy class taking place. Very cool workshop(s) are conducted here.

Yelp
Exquisite is the word: the products, the merchandising, the sensibility that informs the selection, and, of course, the owner. A must stop for me for every trip to Chicago. Not camp or chic; instead heartfelt and intelligent. If you want the things you touch to be beautiful and to enliven you, come here. Japanese-style wrapping of your purchases. and the only retail outlet for Exploded Library.

Yelp
Gorgeous little stationery & writing shop! My mom and I stopped into Knit 1 next door and Bari Zaki caught my eye as we passed by. So glad we popped in - a beautiful store with trinkets, fountain pens, and delicate handmade items. I bought a new pen and some pretty purple ink - can't wait to catch up on my written correspondence using my new accessories!

Yelp
Lovely shop with an interesting array of writing accessories, old letters and postcards featuring wonderful examples of the lost art of calligraphy. The shop also offers a myriad of services, classes and workshops. If you are in the area, please stop by you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Paper heaven. Such a beautiful, warm space in which to browse Bari Zaki's exquisite offerings. I was thrilled to find a rich assortment of quality notebooks, pencils, inks, and paper and all the related accoutrements - old-school sharpeners, erasers, clips, and of course all the book binding tools you'll ever need. The display is just gorgeous. I was looking for some special gifts and even beyond the #stationaryporn was delighted with the selection - fabulous postcards, hand-made books and boxes, original art, and lovely jewelry made with vintage beads. Will make up excuses to come back soon.

Yelp
Bought two sets of ink here today. I just tested them, but the color is very different from what on display. Kind of disappointed.

Yelp
What a beautiful little shop. You can immediately feel the warmth and love the proprietors must have for writing instruments, paper, books, and other beautiful things. I went in looking for fountain pen ink and had a lovely experience browsing. Found my ink (and many more I'll return to purchase) and some pencils. Luddites, and anyone else who loves pen and paper, will be very happy here.
