Barley & Salt, Tap House and Kitchen

Very modern place. Good atmosphere but tables were a little tight. We had to wait 20min. For a table. So we got drinks at the bar. They were well made and bartenders were fun to talk to. We got seated, we were well taken care of. Food was very good. I got the flank steak very tender large portion, my husband got a burger and fries again large portion looked good. My friends thought their food was good the tacos and lobster bites. Definitely would recommend giving this restaurant a try.

I chose bar seating as that usually is the fastest service and the place was not very busy anyway. The bartender promptly greeted me and throughout the duration was attentive, professional and personable. I started with the restaurant’s take on a Moscow mule and to my delight, it was enjoyable enough to have two. For food, I ordered the Rosemary chicken sandwich as is. The chicken was tender and all the various flavors worked well together. If I got it again, I wouldn’t get it with the pickled onions, only because it made for a soggy bun which started to fall apart halfway through consuming. For a side, I ordered the truffle fries and DO NOT recommend and would not get again. They came out hot and fresh but the amount of “truffle salt” on them made them unpleasant to eat. See the picture as that’s the amount I had to leave behind. My bartender closed out for the day during my meal, so I didn’t bother complaining or trying another order as I didn’t want to chance having the same experience. Overall, I would give the place another try but most certainly try something different.

Everything was so delicious 😋 My grilled steak was so good, just the way I like it. I like my steak well done but not overly well done, it's still moisture and juicy inside. It's just perfect. Friendly waitress and great service 😀

The short of these pictures and review is I was so hungry, I forgot to take pictures of the food BEFORE eating. However, the empty plates still make the point the food is pretty good. I had the burger, which was decent. Of note, it comes with a lot of greenery (see picture), but I’m unclear if that was for decoration or to eat. The burger does not come with fries, -1 point, but the truffle fries were extremely good (+3 points). Honestly, the fries were better than the burger, but full disclosure I’m comparing this burger to Wicked Burger (restaurant), which is up the street. My colleague had the salmon and after tasting it, I was impressed. The coating on the salmon was sweet and very tasty. Also, this spot has a large beer selection and I can vouch for the sour beers. Lastly, good service and easy parking, but it gets crowded after work hours on a Friday, so get there early (before 5pm). Would recommend.

It was a decent dinner experience. We got a table after 15 min on the waitlist. The shrimp and scallop pesto rigatoni was excellent. The Thai coconut chicken tacos were just okay, I didn’t taste any distinct Thai flavor or coconut flavor. Drinks were great. Excellent service with attentive hostess and waitress.

We dine at Barley & Salt every year when we come to N. Conway for our timeshare. Food option in this area are not very strong but this restaurant typically delivers. They have a unique menu and usually offer a good variety of dishes. Their wings are excellent, we had the salt and vinegar flavor. We also had the street corn pork sandwich, pork tacos and tofu lo mein. Everything was good but not great. The bread was a little stale and tacos were fine. We did clear our plates so maybe I’m being too critical. They have a large tap beer and alcohol menu with great decor, good music and outdoor seating. Definitely worth a trip if you’ve never been but it is a tad pricey.

Barley & Salt was a really nice surprise—our food came out hot and packed with flavor. The portions were just right, enough to fill you up without overdoing it. The wings weren’t your typical bar-style wings, but they were still tasty—I just think a little note on the menu would help set expectations. Since it’s in such a popular shopping area, the place definitely gets busy, so I’d recommend grabbing a reservation if you’re going for lunch or dinner. It is a bit on the expensive side, but honestly, everything we had was worth it.

Some of the dishes were outstanding, like the shepherd's pie; others were mediocre, like the street corn pork sandwich, which had zero street corn flavor. Our server was wonderful, but the acoustics in the building made it seem loud and cafeteria-ish.

While shopping at the Settler's Green, we stopped here for lunch. We sat out on their spacious patio and service was quick and friendly. The interior was large and spacious as well. They have a huge craft beer menu as well as some cocktails. I had a cocktail, forgot the name but it was good. I also had their buffalo wings for my main entree; they were saucy, crispy, and juicy, delicious. The parmesan truffle fries were also crispy and tasty. My whole family enjoyed their meals also. Overall, the food and service was good!

I love to eat at exciting kitchens with chefs that are proud of their food. That's why I chose this even though others had written that the food was overpriced. I leave a lot of really good reviews. I cannot rate this restaurant highly. If you are coming for craft beers and/or craft cocktails - and maybe an appetizer to go with it, this is your place! If you're wanting a meal you might consider somewhere else. We came for a late lunch and asked to sit outside because the music was so loud that we couldn't even hear the waitress. Husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I ordered the Haddock fish tacos. I normally love accoutrements but both of these were tremendously overdone. Everything was so pickled and/or sweet that you could not taste the main dish - and don't even think of picking either up with your hands - only a fork would do so you can't even taste the full combination that was intended. Our waitress was a very unhappy soul - that didn't help! Again, I don't mind paying for great food; however, we wasted over $50 today!

This was our one chance to duck out for an anniversary meal, so we headed to No. Conway. Thank goodness we arrived shortly after opening, as this place fills quickly, especially on the weekend. We were seated with menus quickly. The choices were quite enticing, with a bent toward fusion fare. My wife's Lo Mein dish was very good, & my haddock bite taco's were a delicious twist on a staple food of mine. While the ambience is fine for most, I'm simply not overly fond of the industrial look when eating upscale. My locally brewed beer was very pleasing & my wife's cosmo was perfectly made. A great lunch experience! Oops! I nearly forgot the chicken parmesan wings appetizer... AMAZING!

Barley & Salt is located right near the outlets. We sat at the bar for dinner and drinks. I ordered the Rockingham blonde melon which is brewed with honey and fresh cantaloupe. We ordered tacos for dinner and the haddock ones I got were slightly disappointing - I felt that there were too many flavors together. Additionally there was so much stuff on them that half of it fell out when I was trying to eat. I appreciate that the there was plenty of filling, but I don't think that it was intended that half of the ingredients fall out and aren't eaten with the rest? The service was good even though there was only one bartender and she was pretty busy.

Delicious food and great atmosphere. The lobster roll was very good. Servers were amazing :)

Nice ambience music was a little loud but a good place for a date or a family meal... The menu included everything from burgers and chicken sandwiches to crab BLTs. Try the garlic parm wings. Small salad with most of their meals. Can't go wrong with lava cake on the menu!

I love this as my go to lunch spot when shopping in the area. They have great beer and food options. Also the convenience of location cannot be beat. The tuna dishes I have gotten have been fantastic. Tasty and fresh. We always sit at the bar so service has always been fast and friendly. It can get very busy so make sure to put your name in early.

Service was terrible. Felt like we were bothering the bartender when ordering a couple beers. Appeared that he was more interested in talking to his friends at the bar.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch after shopping. Comfy atmosphere, friendly staff, clean restaurant. I ordered chicken Caesar salad and it was delicious! The grilled chicken was so tasty and moist. Loved it! My husband's lunch was just as good. We'd go back.

We recently had lunch at Barley and Salt in North Conway, NH. The space is beautiful- open concept, always busy with a good buzz. Clean and modern. The service was just OK this time, however it was very busy. One of the best beer lists in NH! We ordered appetizers- highly recommend the Pretzel or the Salt and Vinegar wings. All in all a great lunch! Would recommend.

Delicious pub food and a very comprehensive menu, if you like burgers and beers you'll love it here. The waitstaff was super attentive and friendly and we all enjoyed the truffle fries. The beet salad was phenomenal. It was a busy Saturday afternoon so was a little noisy but not too bad. The atmosphere is contemporary ski lodge perhaps? Worth a try!

We had a little wait, but it was Sat night & Settlers Green had a big shopping event. Got seated Dragon A. Was our server, he had great energy & was joking with everyone. Very friendly & efficient. I only got a walnut, cranberry apple salad. It was just what I wanted, light & flavorful. GF got some chicken tacos, she loved them. We also got a huge pretzel for an app. So it was plenty of food to.end a busy day.

The food is delicious every time we pop in for lunch or dinner. The hardest part is the rotating seasonal menus - you will fall in love with an item, and then not see it again! There is often a wait for a table come 6pm, but it's worth the wait. They have an amazing draft selection and a delicious menu of mixed drinks. The August menu has the Burrata Caprese Salad, which I'm obsessed with. That pesto vinaigrette and burrata ... so yummy! The fries are always delicious and warm to hot in temp. They have a nice outdoor patio where they allow pups to join lunch. Love the atmosphere each time we come in, and being located right in the outlets at Settlers Green makes for a very convenient and delicious lunch!

Food and service were very good. I had the shepherd pie which was a bit salty. Drinks were good. They have a large beer section.

My kind of place. Excellent food options, great beverage list, great interior and set up, professional service. Was in North Conway for 2 nights and ate there both nights. One item we pointed out was they need to serve their food at warmer temperatures or heat the serving plates. This is an excellent restaurant.

I find the menu overpriced. Been twice and never really impressed. Not sure how locals can afford restaurants like this, just too expensive for an average restaurant

Had a very up and down experience today at B and S. While the food was very good (I'd definitely go back for the food) the AC was way too cold and the Music way too LOUD. The service was excellent and when I asked the server if other people found the music too loud she said she'd see what she could do...which, sadly, was nothing. Loved the menu and the food was very good, but the ambiance was anything but ambient. Actually, the play list was right up our alley but the percussive patter made the meal difficult to digest. We ended up putting earplugs in and saved the meal.

Amazing time!!! Victoria our waitress was super attentive even with the craziness of business at the time we were there. Food was great and came out together and hot. Thank you for another amazing visit. We will be back.

Small plates like an appetizer! I left the place hungry If you are not a drinker person or if you are starving is better find another place. Ambiance is nice and the service too.

Had a day in Conway and stopped in for a late lunch. Ski season has started and this place was busy. We waited a bit, but then 2 seats at the bar opened up. We waited a few for a bartender to come over. My wife ordered a drink, and she said it was great. She ordered a salad and the butternut squash soup, which she said was the best soup ever. I just ordered the giant pretzel. Overall good experience, the food was good, service was average.

This is a Great modern Restaurant . I love the decor in here. The food is always great and the drinks are awesome. My friend and I both had a pear salad. I had chicken and she had salmon on top of the salad . The salads were excellent and we both had a blood orange Martini that was perfect It was great after shopping for a while at the outlets and the waitress and hostess were awesome.

We came in for lunch. Our table had the haddock tacos and the steak dinner. They were very good! Steak, potatoes and asparagus were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The tacos were very tasty, well seasoned. Delicious! The service was very good, attentive. A great experience and we'll be back!

Used to love this place but the menu has become more limited over time and the choices aren't great. The new fall menu seemed very sparse with few lunch options. They continued the ramen which is truly just meh and their lo mein isn't great. The truffle fries are fantastic and sweet potato salad was also very good.

10/10 everything we ordered from food to drinks were exceptional! I will 100 be back, the ambiance and atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing and not to mention the service was great. They did forget my app but my meal was so good it didn't even matter! I will definitely be back :)

The food was amazing and I liked the fact that the spicy sauce was on the side so you could pick how much you want. The service was excellent too - the waiter was so nice.

Sat at the bar for a beer- huge selection of local beers. Had the moat mountain lager which was great but too heavy for me so then when to a moat mountain Pilsner. - very good. Our server Kristina was amazing! Great atmosphere, good time!

Barley salt is one of the Valley Originals, so it is locally owned and operated. It is located inside settlers green which is a local outlet shopping mall. The inside is modern, with high ceilings and a nice bar. The attire is casual, but you can also dress it up for date night. There are high top tables in the bar area, plenty of seating at the bar, and low top tables as well with booth seating. There is a small covered outdoor waiting area to enjoy a drink with porch swings we thoroughly enjoyed while we waited for our table. The food was delicious. Some of the best we have had in the area. We have now been for lunch and dinner and we ordered the Chiang Mai mussels each time. They are some of the best mussels I have ever had. I highly recommend the chicken Tinga tacos for lunch. The portion was very large, I probably could have just eaten one taco with an appetizer. The chicken piccata is a spin on the classic and served as an open faced sandwich. Next time I would order it without the bread. My partner said the GF Local Strip Steak was cooked to perfection. We went during both a quiet and busy time, and oh does this place get busy. Get there early as they do not take reservations. They use a text system to let you know when your table is ready. My only complaint is that I'm not a fan of their cocktails. I tried 2 and they were not my favorite. I would recommend something on tap or wine if I were to go again. **To all my Gluten Free friends: The serving staff was so helpful and friendly with all our allergies. They have a GF menu (attached). The wings aren't GF unfortunately as they are made in the same fryer as other non GF items.

I just wanted to update, that if anyone has a shellfish allergy, you must tell your server, even if you're not ordering anything with shellfish. After our most recent visit, I ended up having an allergic reaction. Original review: I so want to give this place 5 stars!! Our appetizers were out of this world, even their french fries were the greatest! Surprisingly, I was disappointed with the entree I ordered - the coconut lime chicken tacos. No coconut, and the tiniest sliver of lime. The rest was a little much, I wasn't really a fan of the flavour. [and to correct, I never said I expected specifically shredded coconut anywhere in my review. Not very becoming a point to argue. If you say the tacos are 1) Coconut and 2) Lime, one would expect that to be the flavour profile, but these were very much not. I have noticed that they have since taken the word "lime" out of that title, on their menu. I don't recall if Thai was labeled when I originally ordered. It was quite a bit soupier than I expected a taco to be, from all the chili sauce, that I did not enjoy]. But you can tell the owner/chef of this place has really poured their heart and soul into this place, it's not just "get it out quick and make a buck" somebody clearly really cares a lot about excellence, and communicates well. The food was incredible but the service could use some work. The hostess at Barley and Salt was so incredibly disappointing, I felt compelled to share. From the moment we walked in, my family and I were treated as if we were an inconvenience rather than valued guests.

We walked out. We are local and have eaten here and liked it very much. My husband I are we're meeting friends and we know it fills up quickly - especially on a holiday - which today is. When I entered the place was pretty empty and hostess indicated I could choose where I could sit. However, when I said we were a party of 4 the time changed. Whole party has to be here to be seated. But my husband and I would like a drink before our friends arrive. Whole party has to be here to be seated You can go outside. But if I had said it was a party of 2 you would have let me choose a 4 top. Whole party has to be here to be seated Can you step aside? People pour in. Place is filling up. I ask again Whole party has to be here to be seated My husband looks at me and says NOPE. We're out of here. It's a shame this policy is not flexible to represent a good guest experience. Will not return. I can literally cook anything at home. We go out to be waited on and treated to an experience. Not worth it.

Well, I was hesitant that this wasn't going to be anything special, especially compared to some of the other items I've tried in New Hampshire, this was easily my favorite meal while in the area. The Munich mussels are fantastic! The beer broth was delicious by itself, and I sopped up as much as I could with the bread provided. The nice staff even gave me additional bread to soak up more broth. The mussels are huge here, and I only had one dud of a mussel. Absolutely worth getting muscles here for sure. Great selection of beers and cider in the new Hampshire area. They had a good mixture of varieties, as well as offering small pours. Buffalo Bleu wings we're okay, but they did kind of have this weird vinegary taste and then I didn't necessarily enjoy. I also thought the wings were going to have some crispiness on the outside, but they didn't. The meat inside though was tender and moist. They give you full on wings, so don't be surprised if it's bigger meal than you think. My friend said his apple crisp was delicious. I was super full, so I didn't have the ability to really try it. It was a ginormous serving, so don't try to eat this on your own! They have such a friendly service. The moment we walked in, they were cheery and inviting. Once they found out we were out of towners, the hospitality was even more. The atmosphere is also really nice and cozy, with all the wood interior decoration.

Waitresses were nice and food was so good I delayed my next stop on my road trip a couple hours so I could come back for lunch since I'm not sure when I'll ever make it back to this area. Recommend giving the calamari and butternut squash bisque a try. They were both excellent!

Good place - consistent and across the trips always get the pretzel app. My son always begs to go - don't be put off by the big box look. It's down to earth and has a local vibe

Absolutely amazing! We had the butternut squash soup (Devine), mussels with Fra Divavolo (delicious), Rosemary Chicken Sandwich (equally delicious) & the Thai Coconut chicken tacos (no words) honestly they were that good. Would highly recommend!

This is our go to when visiting. If you like sours, they always have a great selection on tap. Service is always great!

$28 for a grilled chicken sandwich and fries was way overpriced. Limited menu and wasn't thrilled with the options. Seemed like a place for a child-like food pallet, as ramen and lo mein noodles were main courses. They tried real hard with saying local ingredients to hype up the menu. Not impressed, I felt like I got ripped off after seeing the bill for two people. The beer selection was good. Service felt rushed and it wasn't crowded. Large noisy room industrial decor was not welcoming.

"Never half-ass two things, whole-ass one thing." (Ron Swanson, Parks and Recreation) This place tries to do too many things & does them all (as my son says) "mid." The wings were decent & the waitstaff was nice. Restrooms were clean. Too expensive for such mediocre food.

Great apps, friendly service, very comfortable. We stopped here after a morning of shopping and really enjoyed our drinks and apps.

Everything about this restaurant is amazing ! All the beer they have on top, the food the service. The way the restaurant is set up the look of everything ! The bartender was so funny always kept conversation with all her customers !! Cannot wait to go back! If you go make reservations if you can we waiting 1.3hrs but WORTH IT !

Absolute 10/10. Visited from out of state and from start to finish, everything was fantastic. Our incredible, attentive server Angel really made the experience. The food came out fast and was absolutely delicious, portions were the perfect size for a few of us to share to try multiple menu items, absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Drinks came out faster than I could imagine them even being made! Our server was just as attentive to every single table on the patio, upselling and ensuring we had everything we could need. This restaurant is so lucky to have her!

We were in the area for my husbands birthday and wanted a good restaurant, well Salt and Barley was the perfect spot. The staff were friendly and prompt. Great atmosphere. My husband who loves a good beer, loved the great selection of beers. I was pleased with the choice in sour beers, which is my go to beer. The food, AMAZING. We started with the pretzel and cheese. We ate it so quick I didn't get a picture, but it was one of the best we have have. Our meal was a burger for my daughter, steak for my husband and falafel for me. Our food was fresh, delicious and well made. We would absolutely go back and recommend this place to overs.

Just not good. Came here on high recommendation, but the food was just not quality. So excited to come. Mega letdown. Ordered a $16 mozzarella and potato tater tot app, and there was zero cheese flavor. Almost too crunchy to eat- almost cracked a tooth. No cheese detected. Barely potato flavor- what is happening here? Why advertise mozzarella if there is seemingly none in there? Got a $16 "Greek/Caesar" salad. Inedible. Tasted like chemicals. I can't believe they charge this much for literal rotting ingredients covered in chemical flavor. Also, maybe have a sign pointing to the bathrooms? This place is huge. Why would you have a random hallway with zero signs, hidden behind booths and unhappy servers? Just bad. $90 for food we couldn't eat. Not worth it

Our first night in North Conway we went to Barley and Salt for dinner! The restaurant is spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was Ashley and she was amazing. She checked in on us regularly and made sure we were taken care of. She gave us great advice with regard to the menu, and made sure our waters were always refilled. We ordered the following: Coconut Pineapple Marg Blood Orange & Pineapple Mimosa Blood Orange Cosmo Garlic Parmesan Wings Beet & Goat Cheese Salad with a Caribbean Fried Chicken Breast Korean Tacos Duck Poutine; upgraded to Truffle Fries Pork Short Rib Shrimp & Gnocchi Mac & Cheese Bread Pudding We were disappointed that the mussels were unavailable that night, especially since it was one of the main reasons we wanted to go here. We wanted to try the Bangkok and Chiang Mai mussels. From reading other reviews it seems like mussels are not always available to order. Perhaps the menu can be updated to indicate that there is limited availability? The cocktails were refreshing and strong. The wings were huge portions, and very juicy inside. The Korean tacos were good, but can use a little more Korean flavors with the slaw/kimchi. The duck poutine was delicious with the truffle fries-- but the duck gravy was a little too gelatinous and looked slightly off putting (see photo). The goat cheese and beet salad was delicious, especially when you add the fried chicken. The pork short rib was a good portion, but it was extremely dry. The curry helped give it some moisture, but would have liked the pork to be juicer. There was also no broccoli in the dish as described on the menu. The Mac & Cheese was very tasty, but just a little too oily. The bread pudding was good and unique in that it had pretzel bread. Overall, loved the friendly staff and the meal was decent!
