This bakery was so interesting. They had so many flavors and shapes of pastries that I wanted to try, but I went for the chocolate croissant. What was shocking was the chocolate surprise in the middle. The pastries are flaky and tasty when I find time to go back. I definitely will.

Google
Nice bakery and drink spot in Flushing. They have a good selection of different sweet and savory baked pastries, cake, coffee, and teas. Nice and clean design, very good and fresh.

We visited this spot and were impressed by the wide variety of fresh, authentic products. From savory buns to delicate pastries, everything looked and tasted homemade and high-quality. One highlight I absolutely recommend is their hot tea with cheese foam — such a unique and surprisingly delicious flavor combination. If you're looking to try something different and comforting, this place is definitely worth a visit!

I had a bad experience. The cakes aren’t bad, but they’re nothing extraordinary either. However, what really ruined my visit was the attitude of the staff. The guy who helped me was apathetic and even rude at times. He refused to give me any information about the cakes—he just said, “they're cakes.” When it came time to pay, he tossed the pen at me in a very disrespectful way to sign the receipt. This kind of behavior makes the whole experience unpleasant, no matter how good or bad the desserts may be.

I recently visited Barley Time in downtown Flushing, a cozy new bakery with a small but inviting space. The bakery section is on the left, while the cakes and desserts are on the elevated right side. It's more of a grab-and-go spot with limited seating, perfect for takeout. I tried a few of their specialty breads and a slice of their Taro Panna Cotta. The cake was incredibly light, soft, and not overly sweet—absolutely delicious! I’ll definitely return for future birthday cakes. Highly recommend it!

Google
Nice new bakery in Flushing. There were lots of people lined up at around 8:30 pm. Pineapple bun was soft and tasty. Taro flower look bread had a unique taste and fresh. It was soft but chewy. I was pleasantly surprised with quality of the baked goods. I will come back to get the taro bread.

Google
Walked in to see what cake slices they have, but nothing looked particularly great. I saw a customer get a cute looking drink, and I ordered the same; rose latte is very good! Not overly floral. Convenient to get while staying at the Hyatt, but would not go out of my way to return.

Finally got a chance to visit this spot after seeing a crowd since the opening. Good pastry shop with decent selection and reasonable prices. I don’t feel like a tourist getting robbed with inflation. The large 22 oz Iced Matcha Frappuccino is $7 and gives you brain freeze. It’s a bargain compared to the other $10 drinks in area. 👍👍 Sitting here gives you a good view of the food scene on Prince St. This is the Times Square of Flushing. My favorite tea shop to relax on Prince St. Downside is no restroom. 11/5/24 Service was disappointing today. Staff made my drink and left it at counter without mentioning anything. Another customer mistakenly grabbed it and left.

Yelp
Motivated by seeing this new-ish storefront, I curiously entered the store on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30pm and was pleasantly surprised at the breadth of bread, pastry and cake offerings and their bright, clean setup. Being a Chinese bakery their flavors for pastries, breads and fillings leaned Asian, like matcha, red bean, sesame, chestnut, rose, taro and variations of these with cheese. Of course there were also items with coffee, cream, bacon, and more Western profiles. I picked up a "pull-apart bread" $4.25 (that was the label on the tray), and a chopped pecan pineapple-style bun (it had a layer of tender craquelin - as the French call it - on top, no actual pineapple). I was very impressed by the light lamination on the pull apart bread--the top was brushed with a very light coating of sugar syrup, a perfect amount to add a tinge of sweetness while still allowing you to taste the savory butteriness of the bread itself. The pecan pastry $3.75 was lovely too, again a balanced light amount of sweetness, a nicely developed rise of the dough inside, and just buttery enough. Good value for the quality. The bakery is small with only a handful of seats right inside the entrance to the left. Checkout counter is up a couple stairs to the right, above which the menu for drinks and other items are displayed. Also located at the counter in the display case are cakes and some chilled dessert selections. They carried items like mousse and tiramisu, roll cakes, cheesecake and larger cakes (complete or by the slice). The presentation is competitive with other newer Asian bakeries in the area. Would love to come back and try some other items!

Yelp
First time visiting Barley time barley. Interior is bright and chill. It seems they have a lot of varieties. I got the Rou song pork bun, taro bun, rose bread, red bean.. they all look super delicious and I can't resist so got a lot. Very friendly staff. The checkout experience is also fast and great. Overall it feels very clean. Will come back again.

Yelp
I recently visited Barley Time in Flushing, Chinatown, Queens, and had a pleasant experience. This bakery offers a variety of pastries, and I got to try their pineapple custard pastry and a savory item. Both were good and left me satisfied. One of the highlights of Barley Time is the ample seating they provide, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy your treats.

Yelp
During my last visit for pastries, Barley Time was pretty disappointing. So, naturally, I was hesitant to give it another go. But there I was, in Flushing early in the morning with slim pickings (everything else was closed, of course). With limited options, I thought, why not dive into their drinks menu? I took a chance on their Large Cheese Foam Peach Oolong Tea and snagged a passionfruit drink (or dessert) from their open fridge (it looked lonely and in need of a home). To my delight, the Oolong Tea was surprisingly good - not too sweet, with a cheese foam layer that was generous enough to make a dairy farmer proud. The drink was delicious and far cheaper than the exorbitant offerings at Song Tea ($8 for a large). My Barley Time beverage was a mere $5.75 a bargain in comparison. The only negative was their Apple Pay policy - you need to spend a minimum of $10 to use it (I suppose they think my money isn't good enough unless I part with more of it). But, hey, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. In the future, I'll likely return to Barley Time for drinks since I did enjoy this one. Keeping it a 3 out of 5 stars taking into consideration both the pastries and the drinks.

Yelp
One of the newer bakeries in Flushing. It's a small spot but has some seating area around. I enjoyed their rice flour goods, they were perfectly chewy and I enjoy that texture. I found the red bean filling in the green tea bun with mochi and red bean filling, a little too sweet. Their mini, sweet croissants were the cutest and nice little sweet treat.

Yelp
This was my first time trying their bread. I got garlic bacon, chicken, ham, lettuce sushi. They were a bit oily in my opinion, but the taste was good. I ate it the next day with my family. The service at the little bakery was okay. During the time I went, it was not too busy. This store is by the corner street, the same block as Tangram Mall.

Yelp
The past two times I've been by, this café bakery has been quite busy which I think is nice. This means the pastries aren't sitting long on the shelf and are fresher. Barley Time is a Chinese bakery that opened last week. This is their second location and the first in Queens. The inside feels spacious with lots of light coming in from the windows. The layout though is kind of odd. The registers and counter for ordering drinks is located up some small steps. So very odd and not very accessible to those in wheelchairs or with strollers. There's a lot of variety of pastries (both sweet and savory) and bread sold here. Some are familiar and some are new to me. Every single pastry that I saw in the counters were individually wrapped and had signage with prices listed in both English and Chinese. I really appreciated this and found it very helpful. We ordered a couple of taro breads, a strawberry bread shaped like a bear and tiny cookies with sunflower seeds. Like with most Asian bakeries, the pastries weren't too sweet. And everything tasted freshly made. They had some very cute looking cakes and a huge menu of drinks. I'll have to try them next time.

Yelp
New bakery in flushing, stopped by to try some bread and thought they were just ok, the garlic flavored ones are good and the mocha cream. Others were skippable. The pink rose one looked pretty but having boba/tapioca inside felt a bit wired. Interesting to try but I probably won't be back again in the short term.

Yelp
Soufflé roll - there was nothing soufflé about this... there's cream with some coconut powder on the outside. The bread is not soft but more on the dry side. Hazelnut cheese bread - more like a mochi texture on the bottom of the bread. Not exactly certain if this really tastes like hazelnut Haven't tried the chicken breads but overall it's very mediocre. Service was not there. No one was there to help but checkout process was fast. Ambiance - relatively clean and a lot of bread selection. There's a sitting area as well. 3/5

Yelp
More pricey than other Asian pastry bakeries in Flushing BUT it's worth it!! Hear me out, I haven't found a bakery that sells taro mochi croissants, taro egg custard buns, and taro purple rice (my favorite I tried). They were all so so good, will definitely come back again! FYI $10 credit card minimum

Yelp
For those are fans of Asian pastries, this shop features a great variety even close to closing. Staff are unfailingly polite and efficient. Pastries are tasty and worth the related cost.

Yelp
I am a major fan of this establishment: new and progressive Chinese bakery in downtown Flushing. They have solid pastries; a mix of new and traditional takes. I haven't tried all or most of the pastries so I cannot say if all are delicious but the ones I have tried were usually great. I usually head down here when I crave some small bites for the road and an occasional drink if I need the caffeine. They also sell many bubble tea options. I will agree with others that it's on the pricier end of the local bakeries that Flushing has to offer- most likely due to the location as they are located in the up and coming area of the downtown eats with newer, young businesses. The service is quick and accommodating with a bright clean interior. The trays could be better as they are clunky plastic giving the illusion of "cute" but it seems most customers opt to hold items in their hand and not use the available tongs to grab the pastries...!!! Highly recommend the matcha buns (cheese), pork floss cream buns, and ham and cheese croissant. Indoor dining and takeout available. No bathroom. Accepts cash, card and Applepay with a minimum of $10. Bon appetit!

Yelp
This is currently my favorite bakery in Flushing. This is the second location-other one is located in Brooklyn. They have a good variety of unique pastries, buns and cakes. My daughter's favorite is the bear shaped bun with strawberry cream filling. Other recommendations- taro purple rice bun and matcha cheese bun. Buns and pastries prices vary from $1.75-$3.75. The only downside is the bakery is not stroller friendly. You have to go up a few steps to pay.

Yelp
Cute bakery with a lot of bread options to choose from~ The goods are decent for the price! They also have a good selection of drink options as well as whole cakes and cake slices! The counter is quick and efficient - there is a $10 min for card.

Yelp
The pastries were good, and not overly sweet. I bought the Mango Cheesecake, Lovers cake, Rose Croissant, and a hot Rose latte. It averaged between $4-7 per pastry, and eve came up to $25.

Yelp
We are from Virginia for weekend food hunting in NYC. We love this place and wish bought more after got back to hotel! The mini red bean is the must have item! Everything is so fresh and good! Too bad, we couldn't buy a cake due to travel! Wish there was weekly deliver to DC area :)

Yelp
I've been waiting forever for this bakery to open! The decor is quite nice but layout is inefficient as registers are up the steps. I have tried a few pasties from here and they were hit or miss. The four pack of egg tart was bland to me but the croissants were pretty good. Recently I ordered a DIY cake for my mothers's bday and it came out looking just like the picture from their catalog. It was definitely on the pricier end but they did have cakes in the display case for less. The layers of sponge cake were moist and the cream on the cake had a subtle milky flavor

Yelp
Love the pumpkin bread filled with real pumpkin and cheese, such a unique and delicious item - please don't discontinue this one! Great variety of items with fun seasonal additions.

Yelp
Service was terrible. The staff was taking products out of the cabinet. Got to register no greeting just yelling out what I owed.

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of Flushing Main Street, Barley Time Bakery is a haven for pastry enthusiasts and dessert lovers. With an array of delectable treats ranging from beverages to pastries and cakes, it's no wonder this establishment has become a local favorite. Upon entering Barley Time Bakery, I was immediately struck by the inviting aroma of freshly baked goods wafting through the air. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, with cozy seating arrangements and a display case showcasing an enticing assortment of treats. From classic croissants to intricately decorated cakes, there was something to tantalize every palate. One standout item that caught my eye was the mini bear cake, which I ordered. Adorable in appearance and bursting with flavor, this petite masterpiece was a true work of art. From its meticulously crafted design to its moist and flavorful cake layers, every bite was a delight for the senses. It not only looked like a bear but tasted divine, with the perfect balance of sweetness and richness. Tiffany, the staff member who assisted me during my visit, deserves special recognition for her outstanding hospitality. Not only was she knowledgeable about the menu offerings, but she also went above and beyond. Definitely recommend coming here.

Yelp
The ambience was bright and interior was clean. Nobody was there to assist and the checkout process was quick. We bought a coffee walnut bread bun and matcha toast bread. The matcha taste in the bread was very slight. Perhaps I should've bought the cranberry or raisin bread instead. There was no coffee taste in the bun, although there was plenty of walnuts. The matcha toast bread was about $6.50 and the coffee walnut bun $3.25.
