Barlounge

We started at BarLounge for drinks then moved across the Road to Upstairs at The Grill. We sat at the sofa at the bar on the 1st Floor. The staff are expectionally friendly, engaging and attentive. We ordered half a dozen Colchester Oysters amazing, steak with marrowbone and thrice cooked chips (my mouth is watering just writing this) the steak was cooked to perfection medium rare, juicey, tender and flavoursome, the marrowbone was sensational soooooo moorish absolutely 👌🏽, chips beautiful, the monkfish was tender and meaty slighty overseasoned for me but thats just personal choice.We didnt order a dessert but was sent a complimentary one. The music was jazzy and smooth, perfect ambience and atmosphere, I highly recommend Upstairs at The Grill and will be retuning again very soon

I honestly love Barlounge!! Everytime I come to Chester I make sure to pay this goldmine a visit. The staff are always fanatsic in their knowledge, hospitality and general friendliness and the drinks are always incredible. Genuinely the best Old Fashioned money can buy!!!! If you come to Chester, you have to go to Barlounge.

Always such a lovely experience at bar lounge, have been a few times over the years and I just had to review, because every time the service has been exceptional and the food delicious. Walked in on the off chance for a table Saturday afternoon, very busy but we were greeted straightaway and got a table in the restaurant. Our waitress was so lovely, asking about our day, what we were up to etc. very attentive, Prosecco glass was never left empty before she was back over to top us up. Food was so tasty, small plates are the perfect sharing size, don’t feel ripped off by the sizes like some places. It was an extra special day as I’d just been and bought my wedding dress, when we asked for the bill the waitress brought over a surprise instead, a personalised cocktail which was such a lovely detail and really made my day extra special. This isn’t the first time bar lounge have gone above and beyond, doing similar things when we’ve been for birthdays/anniversary’s etc before! So it just shows how consistent their service is.

The girls and I came to Bar Lounge as it was recommended by our friend that lives in Chester and it was lovely. The weather was gorgeous so we were able to sit outside and the atmosphere was great. The food and wine was delicious and Nick was so friendly and welcoming, he couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely be back when in Chester again, thank you!

Absolutely awesome spot, staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The team really did make the Barlounge extremely welcoming. We thought the staff were great and the food matched! The mini plates were amazing and the chicken burger was SOOOO tasty! Also you HAVE to get yourself a Five Points Coffee! Mind blowingly good! 🤯 Highly recommend this spot if you’re in Chester.

Hats off to Craig and the team! We went out for a girls day out and Craig really made our visit! We initially wanted to to just stay for one but due to Craig being so warm and welcome we decided to stay for a few more! He’s brilliant and should be really appreciated within the team!

This was just looking for an early dinner/late lunch and not getting pushed in a Christmas menu. OK you might say steak pepper corn sauce and Fries just that's normal!! Well our both steaks cooked absolutely perfect seasoned so nice the pepper 🌶 corn sauce very smooth and the fries stayed hot in there pot till the end. we both agreed £16.50 each was well worth it,even a few hours later we still had a lovely taste 💯 % recommend a visit

A true chef on board here, tastefully prepared sharing boards were delicious from King prawns to cornflake battered fried chicken. There's something for everyone. But the house made sticky toffee pudding rivals Gordon Ramsey's at Hell's Kitchen Vegas, delightful. We couldn't have been happier with the service and everyone working here. Open late, fun crowd, quiet spaces, happy staff and stellar menu seven days a week.

If you are in Chester and want some great food then this is your place. It's a venue with a pub/restaurant feel providing inside and covered-outdoor seating options. It rains a lot in Chester so being able to sit outside under cover in a spacious area is a plus. Lots of high top tables around. Wait staff was a hit and miss. We started with a young girl who was ridiculous but when the fella took over for us, it was much better. (The first waitress wasn't rude. She just wasn't attentive ... at all. lol) Squared away with seating, beers, and mixed drinks we started ordering. It was odd but great to see lots of healthy and cool dining options. We had a cauliflower dish that was the BEST cauliflower I've ever had along with a different seared tuna taco topped with pickled radishes that was delicious. The skewered Thai chicken was good as well as the traditional fish and chips. What's most interesting is this place is billed as a pub like eatery but felt more like a restaurant with a slight pub feel. Cool décor inside and out, clean and hip. Female restrooms on the top floor which are quite a hike when you've been drinking--- just sayin. Great location and prices were decent.

I like this spot, I came here a few years ago when visiting family and was back again last weekend. We came here after being at Telfords, there's obviously a price difference as you're now on the main strip of bars but the drinks were costy for me as I'm thinking in dollars but the locals I was with said they were on the higher end. However back in California I live by all the fancy cocktail places and you know you're paying for a nice atmosphere, a good crowd, great music and strong drinks! We arrived to Bar Lounge around 10:30pm on a Saturday night and the place was rocking, you definitely saw some people in there that just thought they were the most amazing people and were dressed like they were out in London or New York but I enjoy getting dressed up and thought everyone looked great. Maybe it's an English thing but I'm shocked with the amount of girls who are out with hair extensions, fake eye lashes and no coat...it's cold! I do enjoy dancing when I'm on a night out, this place is good for standing around and mixing, if I'm back in town again I would come here for a first drink and then hop to the next spot but overall good place.

Walked in and immediately felt welcome. Staff were all extremely kind and accommodating, the outdoor seating area offered us the use of blankets, hot water bottles and hats. The food arrived shortly after ordering and was presented to a very high standard. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience at the Barlounge from the service to the food.

Visited bar lounge on a whim last night the decor is beautiful, loved the fact I could sit outside in December and feel like I was in my living room! The food was excellent, my partner had the sea bass with cauliflower cheese... (Let's put it this way - there was absolutely nothing left) I had the Caesar salad and a side of chips. The food had so much taste and was completely fresh. Our waiter was so polite and made us feel extremely welcome. If I'm ever in and around chester again ill be making sure I put in a visit.

This is a really classy bar on a very fashionable street in chester. Inside it is nicely decorated with the usual token leather couches. However it is a bit more original outside where it has twinkly fairy lights and patio heaters. Itsreally nice to come here in the winter and sit outside having a drink under the patio heaters. I am not sure I would recommend the food here to be honest as in my opinion the menu is a little pretentious and obscure. Also must warn that it is busy pretty much all of the time! So get there early if you want to secure yourself a table in the garden.

Bar Lounge is a popular hang out for much of Chester's resident financial services crowd. It has an outside area with heaters and some comfy sofas inside - all in all a good range of seating options. The decor is dark and quite classy - and the table service for drinks is excellent and makes a welcome change to most places in the UK which rely on you going to the bar. The other plus side of this is that when you do need to go to the bar, it is usually fairly easy to get served quickly. The drinks are mid-priced but of a good quality - nice cocktails and a decent wine list. It has a private function room which I have been in several times - again this is nicely decorated and works very well. It does get very busy here on race days in Chester as it's on the immediate route to the course - but at other times it's usually possible to get a table without too much trouble.

On a corner plot, adjacent to a main road and on the outside of the city centre is the Bar Lounge. This place has a great atmosphere, even before you get into the bar, the outside space features a large number of booth and other type seating, all under an awning to protect you from the English weather, with large heaters that really kick out some heat - a great space. Inside is a copiously stocked bar packed with a vast range of spirits, the more unusual looking bottles tempting you to try them. The inside area isn't huge, there are a few seats, particularly at the end which are adorned with cushions, but they are likely to be taken, so standing room only in the evening. Great bar and a cracking atmosphere, but the prices in here will put a strain on your wallet!

Bar Lounge is a great place for a drink after work. It's friendly and welcoming, with expansive sofas inside and a long bar. If you are drinking outside in the courtyard area then the staff are always on hand to bring you new drinks and take away the empties. Usually the bar is popular and lively. If you turn up on a race day then it can be like a packed Japanese subway train with a similar number of suits. The staff at the door prefer people to be dressed smart casual so you might not get in if you look like a scruff! The restaurant is good, although tucked away so I didn't even realise it was there on my first few visits! The menu is fairly limited and the dishes are quite posh. There was only one vegetarian option when I last went, although this was very tasty, it would have been nice to have more choice.

Nice starter pub - outside has patio heaters which is nice in the winter months. Possibly one of the closest to the race course so does get busy when Chester Races are on. Ok place, good beer.

This place doesn't get as many people passing through as the other basr on watergate road as its on the bottom corner and has a quieter, more chilled-out atmosphere. Quite popular with couples and generally those 25+, the bouncers sometimes enforce this as a rule but it depends on how you look (ithey've been known to be abit snobby) and how busy the bar is. Table service is a plus here though the hard-sell attitude of waiters trying to get you onto the expensive drinks can get abit annoying. Large garden out the front where you can normally find a seat, plenty of patio-heaters keep it warm enough through most nights. More of a place for a quiet drink then a rowdy night out but still worth a look.

a very trendy bar serving good beer. Has a popular outdoor area with heaters which is always rammed after work and on Races day. Not much to look at aas your on the busy ring road but the atmosphere is good. Staff are very friendly, maybe a bit too friendly. Can attract a poncey crowd. Serves bar snacks and a lunch menu but its over priced for what it is.

Very well funished with a great outdoor area..big chuncky comfortable seats outside with heaters on cold evenings. The girls and myself love our cocktails and had a charming young man take our drinks orders each time from out tablehe knew his cocktails very well and took time to chat to us about what types of cocktails we liked and suggests what we may like. Excellent service! We also had a few bars snacks whilst there which were good.
