I went there today 16/8/2025 around 4pm to relax and have fun the moment I entered the place the man who works there, short and super skinny with black hair he was wearing a hat… started to scream at my face! For no reason I kept asking him: sorry sir I don’t understand what you are talking about? why are you angry at me? He kept screaming at me until the woman at the bar (the cashier) joined him to scream at me! What I understood is BOTH of them are accusing me of trying to buy the underage kids (black kids btw) standing outside the store some weed!!! I couldn’t believe it… i stood there for a second trying to adjust what is happening… I stared to shake and scream back at them I felt humiliated, scared and embarrassed. The whole store was looking at me: I DONT KNOW THEM!! I JUST GOT HERE.. I said while choking feeling like crying, both my hands and feet were shaking, I am disappointed for the treatment of this store , I was truly excited to visit and to explore.. but never again.

This is a great spot to have drinks. They serve high-quality cocktails and on weekends, there’s a DJ which makes it even more fun. It feels like a sophisticated place — definitely not your typical sketchy coffee shop vibe. Super relaxed and refined atmosphere.

We ordered edibles for 27 euros and we sat down at a table to enjoy them. We were then informed by a staff member that we needed to order at least one drink per person if we wanted to sit down. This is ridiculous after buying things from the cafe. That really put us off. We were made to feel unwelcome. We had actually thought about coming back, but after this experience, we’ve changed our minds and won’t be recommending the place.

Barney's is one of the oldest and most renowned coffee shops. Its products are well-known, and it has always demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement. I've known Barney's for at least 20 years, even when it was in different locations, and I've always been satisfied with the service provided. However, during my last visit, I was sad to note that the coffee shop has become very similar to a fast food restaurant: the saleswoman behind the bud counter, although nice and professional, treated me superficially and too quickly. I'm an expert and was looking for new, trendy strains, and I just wanted some advice, which never came. Still 5 stars, guys, but please try to be customer-focused, even when choosing buds, but not in a superficial way.

Very polite personnel!! They talked to us about weed, let us smell and see all the strains we wanted and recommended based on our feedback. Pricing for the drinks is more than fair, but way cheaper than most! Also they let us try out the volcano bag - like they offered us a bag for no extra charging to try out ~ it was wedding cake.

All I can say this is the place to be when you want to relax and unwind for the day. The quality of teas is insanely excellent. The budtenders were so friendly and provided an easy going experience. Definitely check it out if you are in Amsterdam

Dropped by for a quick iced mocha. Coffee very smooth with just the right amount of chocolate. Priced well. Quick service for drive up. Sucked that puppy right down. Go and get you some!! Yup!

Stopped in last night. Super helpful staff, very friendly but they didn't hover. Also, very knowledgeable about all of their products. Cozy atmosphere. You can also run across the street to Barney's Uptown if you'd like a drink.

Rating this place 5 stars and here is why This place has good food good prices and you can smoke. First time in Amsterdam and I came here cause I had heard of it and I absolutely enjoyed it. After pigging out on ibercus across the street we decided to had across the street to grab a a drink. They have a bar which you call roll at and smoke and the store next to it was the same franchise but they only sold pot there. From what I understood you can buy pot at one and buy booze at the other, never both at the same location. While we were sitting down we grabbed a few drinks and they were all good and the atmosphere was okay lots of stoners and tourists lol. The guy working there kept playing these random weird songs and would sing from behind the bar and try to get people to sing along. Loved how friendly he was and had a great vibe about him.

I travel to Amsterdam often, and my my top 5 spots to hit out of Centraal is Barney's. Francesca, Carlaa, Brian, the whole gang is awesome. The buds are enormous if you get there during an inventory re-up. Barney Rubble and Royal Jelly! DO NOT run to Barney's an hour before a flight and think you're gonna smoke for the first time and fly out! No one likes cleaning up after you! Brian & Francesca, you two really did make my stay in Nederland righteous! See you guys Tulip Season!

So, yeah, kinda hard to say if I can truly rely on my companions responses to the food here as they were, ahem, ya know, not in their necessarily sober mind. Foods ordered: Spicy Burger- I just want to merely recant that the person who had this dish LOVES burgers and has quite a high standard, actually said this was a 5 stars. Now, I don't know if it's cuz he was a bit jolly after the coffeeshop, but he didn't want to share, and still says it was a 5 star burger. You be the judge. Eggs with Bacon- I don't know how wrong you can go with bacon and eggs. This stuff was really really good though. I mean, well seasoned, fluffy eggs, all that stuff. I can't really say much as at the end of the day, it's just bacon and eggs. Pancakes- so my friend who lives here brought us here as this is one of the ONLY place that services AMERICAN style pancakes. Pancakes in Amsterdam are more like swedish crepes really, So, she says they're good. Again, I didn't get to try it, since everyone was really focused on their own plate. You be the judge and try this place. Most likely you'll be going here when you're feeling all happy and jolly, so yeah, this place is going to taste quite incredible. I can't really give an accurate rating here, so, I'm going to say this place gets my 4 stars since the service was great, and the people are awesome.

Barney's was great from the get go. It is helpful to know that they have three different locations on the same street and knowing what you're in the mood for will without a doubt help you decide where to stop. If you're looking to pick up something to smoke, stop #1 has to be to their actual smoke shop, this is the only location you will be able to buy from. They are cash only, so also be prepared for this - there is an ATM just across the street at an Off-License. From here, you can chill and smoke at this venue - for those of you looking for a bit more space you have stop #2 next which is either: Barney's Farm or Barney's Uptown I prefer Barney's Farm during the day for a nice coffee and a smoke this venue also sells alcohol and seeds (not legal to sell bud and alcohol in the same location). You will have coffee/brunch vibe from this place. Great spot for a midday stop in. I prefer Barney's Uptown for a later in the evening lounge vibe. They have a live DJ on the weekends and they play variety of great music. Here you can enjoy a beer or a nice glass of wine with your smoke - the staff is great and quite hilarious. You get the best bang for your buck at these places. Not only are they a minutes walk from one another, but they're also at the part of town where everything starts to become more lively. The variety of bud is great and not too costly - I highly recommend the pre rolled joints.

First coffee shop I visited in Amsterdam; prices were potentially pricy but the weed was top quality. The workers were very friendly and joked around, good vibes. MAKE SURE YOU BRING ID - My favorite coffeshop experience - You can purchase pre-mades and smoke next door - Their low grade is better than some of the other coffee shop regular grade - Cookie kush is the best (as was recommeneded by a 'professional smoker') - Staff makes great suggestions - They will run out, if you get there too late

Drinks, food, atmosphere was stellar! Had a good time. Only complaint is they seemed crazy busy and our food came before our drinks and they forgot part of my meal. Still a nice place to stop and visit if you're in the area.

I am a full-time cannabis user from Canada who will smoke bowl after bowl, and, I bought two prerolled joints at €14 each. I couldn't even finish 1/3 of the first joint. Best trip of my whole life, and I've been to Jamaica, Cuba, New Orleans, and Florida. Strain was called "Blue Gelato 41".

Wowie zowie! What a place! Ok so this place is super small and you want to get in and out but Barney's has the whole block figured out. They own Barney's uptown across the street so jump in here, grab some premo product and go partake in Barney's uptown, essentially a bar and grill. They have a wide selection, name brand selection including some imports from the states. High level stuff.

Very touristy and prepare to pay touristy prices. But the great thing is they have the volcano vaporizer and it's FREE to use, just ask. This takes the sting out of your lungs that smoking causes. I'll take the cookie kush rolled up with a cappuccino, please and thank you! After landing, and unpacking in our Airbnb we decided to find a place to unwind. Came by here a few times during my stay, to smoke and enjoy they're delicious food! This place is so so so so GOOD! Everything I had there from the coffee, weed, pita + hummus, waffles, chicken wings ALL DELISH! and you're high so watch out, you might catch yourself ordering more things then usual on the menu haha! They offered tons of different strands of weed. You can buy by the bag or rolled up in a joint. I can't wait to stop in again on my next stop through Amsterdam!

I liked this whole chain and visited 3 of their locations. I think Barney's Lounge is the most spacious/least busy but I easily found somewhere to sit the multiple times of day I dropped in. Good pot, high prices which I expected in the city centre. The only negative is almost all of their volcano bags are leaky! I'm sure they replace them but people accidentally burn/pop them often but it's always nice to have a bag without a bunch of tape holding the smoke in!

I was recommended here from a friend who'd been to Amsterdam before. It didn't disappoint. My best friend and I split a pre-rolled Blue Gelato and we were out by the halfway point-split between the two of us! The workers were super friendly and helpful as well-made us feel super at ease for our first time in one of Amsterdam's famous Coffeeshops. The food at Barney's uptown was awesome as well. You can smoke and enjoy some amazing burgers and drinks in a nice environment just across the street from the actual Coffeeshop. 10/10

This review is solely for the doorman as I never actually went inside this place. As I was traveling to Amsterdam, I rented a bike and started riding around. I soon realized I was lost and end up seeing this man in front of the store. I needed help locking my bike as I had just rented it and didn't know how to lock it. I went to ask him and he quickly came over and helped me with both locking my bike and giving me directions to the Amsterdam Museum, where I was trying to go. Two thumbs way up for the helpful service and the great and beautiful Spanish doorman. :)

Best and chillest place all around. The product is of amazing quality and staff is nice and friendly. If you are looking for top shelf - this is the place.

Horrible experience. Crazy expensive prices. Very rude / unfriendly staff. Claim they have California cannabis cup winning weed but they don't even enter cannabis cup. False claims to raise prices. I'm from California and I've never heard of these guys! I would love to see some proof of their entry / 1st Place finishes at the cannabis cup or chalice! This review comes from someone who actually enters their product into the cup as well. Will never return here again on my next visit.

I stopped here for breakfast and lunch on two separate days a few years ago.. and still vividly (and fondly) remember both experiences. Barney's has a relaxing ambiance and serves generous portions of delicious food. Most of the food are things you'd easily find on a menu in the US, though.. so don't expect anything "exotic." While the company is generally friendly and laid back, this isn't really a family friendly place due to the fact that they do, in fact, give you the option to enjoy herbs of the smokable/edible variety with your food.

Best place in the city period. The downside is that it's small and like a dungeon, so I rarely hang out here, but you do need to stop in to stock up and go hang out in a park, on the canal, or at the Barney's seed shop next door where you can enjoy your purchases.

Awesome location and well-run business; Barney's coffeeshop is across the street from Barney's cafe (and adjacent to Barney's Farm), so you can either stay and hang there or enjoy your product with a meal/snack. Also one of the few coffeeshops we visited with Volcanoes at every table. Most of the places in Amsterdam got the job done but we kept coming back to Barney's because it felt like a step above the rest. Looking forward to next time.

Went in, lazily looking around. The guy behind the counter knew I didn't know what I wanted because it all seemed great. Told him I wanted a pure upper. Smoked one Tangerine Dream and completely lost depth perception. I love this place.

Yes, I am a fan of the Barney's empire. Whenever I am in Amsterdam it's one of my first stops. The quality is extremely high and it's typically a line to wait in. The line moves fairly quickly and the guys that work there are knowledgeable. It's always very warm in this shop, I recommend that you wear layers as you will likely need to remove a few throughout the course of your stay. If your in the mood, there are volcano's on each table, definitely worth a try.

High quality products are sold here. Probably some of the best in Amsterdam but you will pay for the quality. Each table has a volcano available for use. Just ask behind the counter for a bag and mouthpiece. Its a cool shop and close to Central Station but visit other shops for bargains

Great bud, crazy expensive prices, medium service. Part of the problem is that it is always busy, and the staff aren't very friendly on the account of all the tourists that come in here who seem to be busy with everything else, other than buying the product. This causes an agitated atmosphere, but its a great place if you want to score some prime bud!

Nice little spot that opens at a decent time if you're getting into town early. Although the bud was on the pricey side, but good quality.

If you're a tourist visiting Amsterdam and are looking for an interesting and memorable place to eat then Barney's is a must try. As the name indicates they serve breakfast (dutch style). Be prepared to eat some delicious crepes. Wouldn't reccomend this place for children though as they have water pipes at every table.

Used to come here before they put a vaporizer on every table and attracted the worst tourists of all, crowding the place and driving the prices for an eighth to around 60 USD-70USD. Avoid this store and go to the other Barney's on the outskirts of the city which serves breakfast as well as weed

Staff was very helpful. When I asked for a strong Indica, I was given Vanilla Kush, which was top shelf. I went across the street to Barney's Uptown to smoke and have a beer. Very enjoyable atmosphere, and the best stuff in town.

I have had much better experiences on past trips to Barney's. I was on a "treasure hunt" to get samples of the 3 top winners of the 2014 Cannabis Cup. This was the only disappointment. They were running low on Cookies Kush so the buds were small and not impressive. As far as potency, I would not have judged this strain to be worth the trouble. Pretty mediocre gear.

barney's is what's up. they have vapes in the main coffee shop, they have beer next door, and they have a full menu and an almost tarantino vibe across the street. also- a purple dinosaur owns it.

Barney's coffeeshop is definitely worth stopping at to grab some products, but chances are you aren't gonna find an open table in this relatively small sized coffeeshop. Although, the BEST thing about Barney's is the 'Barney's Uptown' across the way. They offer great food (especially their breakfast) and they let you smoke! Grab what you need at this coffee shop and then head over and grab a bite and enjoy. If you aren't hungry, they make a good cup of coffee and they serve drinks!!

I've been to Amsterdam three times and every morning i walk down to Barney's and order either the breakfast burrito or the Crepes. Amazing food, great weed and the decor and paraphernalia all over make you feel like you're in some sort of stone age stoner's paradise.

the place was 4 star ...but the year i did the cannabis cup barneys won..so i give his hash a 5....and his g-13 is pretty amazing also...good times

I was there on what turned out to be it's only slow night - meaning it was near empty when I arrived and packed when I left. The atmosphere is pretty chill with a wall that you'll try to pull open. There are TV screens and volcanoes at every table to keep you more than occupied. The coffee is decent and has a separate station for ordering which makes that process easier. There is an easy menu to read and a large bar for ordering what you need, with plenty of Cannibus Cup winning selections, which can get pricey. That's the good stuff. On the bad side, if you're looking for a good space-cake, of which they have only two stale flavours, be prepared for a less than enjoyable experience. People don't flock here for space-cakes. Lastly, the owner is a bit of a douche. He was fairly decent with me, but after listening to him talk to a few other customers I realized I was getting the nice side of him. Not a bad spot if you're with friends and don't mind a crowd. Not a loner's kind of place.

As a first time smoker with limited expectations and know-how, I was apprehensive when I first entered the coffeeshop, around suppertime on a weeknight. In my prior research, several websites had recommended Barney's and we couldn't have picked a better first time place. I explained to the dealer that I had never smoked before and had no idea what to get or what I was doing. Not only did he help me make my selection based on the kind of experience I wanted ("happy and high" vs. "relaxed"), he also came to our table and gave us detailed instructions and tips. He put us completely at ease, in a completely non-judgmental way, and we were excited to return a second time on our week-long trip to Amsterdam. As far as the atmosphere goes, it's pretty small, so even when not many people are there it can feel crowded; otherwise, it feels very intimate. The location is great--maybe a ten minute walk from the Centraal/Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal area and the Prinsengracht in the other direction. I don't have a comparison for prices among cannabis products in the Netherlands, but theirs struck me as reasonable, just based on the costs at bars for alcoholic beverages. They had a good selection of non-alcoholic beverages and appetizers to enjoy while smoking, and each table had a small monitor playing just the kind of movie you can get wrapped up in when you're stoned (e.g. think Charlie Chaplin or Harold & Kumar). Staff was very friendly. Our one regret is not trying the vaporizers. They seemed advanced, when in fact they probably would have been less corrosive-feeling on our lungs than smoking. Barney's has one at each table and they will explain how to use them if you need that. I highly recommend Barney's, especially if you're a first-timer.
