THE PIG-in the Cotswolds

We stayed at The Pig in the Cotswolds to celebrate our birthday and had a wonderful experience. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with stunning decor throughout that feels stylish, cosy, and full of character. The whole place has a very relaxing atmosphere and is perfect for switching off. The spa was a real highlight — calm, well designed, and ideal for unwinding. The food was excellent, fresh, and seasonal, with breakfast being particularly outstanding. We also visited their village pub for a drink during our stay, which was a lovely touch and added to the relaxed, countryside feel. Overall, it was a special and indulgent stay, perfect for a celebration or a relaxing getaway. We loved it and would happily return.

We appreciate the date we visited was February 14th and understand this is a busy night for you. However we had been very much looking forward to the experience, but unfortunately the service did not meet the expectations we had for your restaurant. When we arrived, we were seated in the library for drinks. During that time, we felt largely ignored by several members of staff and had difficulty getting attention. We observed other customers being chatted to by your members of staff, it did seem like they were guests at the hotel however this service was not given to us as also paying customers. Other guests were offered food menus before being seated in the restaurant however we were not given that chance by the members of your team. There seemed to be a lack of co ordination between the servers as we were asked the same questions about our names, if we were guests at the hotel and allergies several times. We were also seated later than our reservation time and were not informed that there would be a delay, which was disappointing. When we were eventually shown to our table (in the corner of the restaurant), the service continued to feel inattentive. We again found it difficult to engage with staff, which made the evening feel less welcoming than we had hoped. We had to consistently try and get the attention of members of the team from far away on multiple occasions which was not the same service as other guests sat next to us had experienced. In addition, the lamb I ordered was not served hot it was only warm. While the flavour was good, the temperature detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Given the reputation of The Pig and the setting, we were expecting a higher standard of service and a more polished overall experience. We felt it was important to share this feedback in the hope that it can be taken on board.

A lovely hotel in a lovely part of the world. The room and facilities were of a very high standard and the staff were very helpful. The food was superb. The walk around the potager garden and the kitchen garden was an extra treat for us as countryside people. ||We paid for a treat for ourselves and we were not disappointed.

Very impressed with my stay. Cozy, warm, luxury- my bedding was Devine- I slept so so well! The food was seasonal and delicious, the staff were really friendly and helpful, and the spa was perfect. I particularly loved the outdoor fire and the full body massage was probably the best I’ve ever had!

We went for dinner here in December. We stayed in Burford so was a half hour drive. But well worth it. Food was amazing. The staff were friendly. Wine was very nice. Ended up getting family members a voucher for Christmas because we enjoyed it so much.

We arrived around 2:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon. We were immediately greeted at reception and shown to our room - stable yard room no 15. Huge room with a 'lounge' and massive bathroom downstairs and bed in the mezzanine upstairs. The room was perfect, heating easy to control and heat up/cool down when needed. Huge bath and shower were lovely, very relaxing. Lots of lotions and salts for the bath. Super king bed very comfy.|We ate in the pub the first night, nice country pub, good food and prompt service - just a 2 minute walk down the road.|Breakfast on both mornings was delicious. So much choice and easy to have a healthy start to the day with fresh local ingredients.|All members of the team were friendly and helpful. A lovely relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere.|We will definitely be back 🐖

Spa visit only as was staying elsewhere for a wedding. The staff, lovely, welcoming and the even managed to squeeze us in for a treatment last minute. The massage was great, really enjoyed it. The actual facilities though were a bit disappointing. Outdoor pool was quite shallow, sauna and steam room tiny, and the hair dryer and moisturiser were missing from the men’s changing room, so I had to ask for a replacement as nobody had noticed.

I sent the below back in August after a stay. I did it privately allowing them the opportunity to respond, but over three months later they haven’t: My wife and I stayed with you for a couple of nights last weekend. Overall, as we have at every other Pig we’ve stayed at, we had a good time. There were a couple of incidents, however, that felt us being a bit let down. - My wife was gifted a voucher by my parents earlier this year. We put it towards a massage my wife had on Monday. For some reason - I assume because the price has gone up at some stage since the voucher was purchased - we were charged an extra £5 at checkout for the treatment. This was pretty petty to include on the bill. - At dinner on our first night (where we were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary) we ordered a scotch egg for starter and a mozzarella dish, these arrived at which point the waitress said the chef had dropped half of the scotch egg it on the floor. Instead of preparing a new one, or offering an alternative dish if they had run out, the waitress said she would only charge us 50%, which is rather inexplicable and we were neither happy about having 1/4 of a scotch egg each nor paying 50% for it. - Same dinner, I ordered two scoops of sorbet for dessert. I only got one, but we were charged for two. All relatively minor incidents and any one of them we would likely ignore, but for all to happen was well below the standards we expect from a Pig hotel.

We just got back from a lovely two night stay here. We stayed in "the stables," which are a few suites off to the side of the main house. The property is well kept and spotless. The main rooms themselves were spot on and even better than the photos. They had the perfect rustic barn feeling. The bathrooms were huge but the design did not go at all with the aesthetic of the rest of the hotel/room. The tub and bathroom walls were covered with this ugly black tile and the sinks were this worn wood/bamboo. My favorite area was probably the dining room which over looks their beautiful gardens. There is seating outside for non rainy days. Breakfast is not to be missed. They have the basic spread of fresh fruit, cereals, juices, and pastries. The main thing keeping it from being five stars for me would be the amount of information they leave for you are the guest to figure out. When we arrived we were assisted with our luggage but there was no offer to provide tour or general explanation of the property or amenities ( spa, bar in the main house, bikes, maps of trails to bike or walk etc.) I was not familiar with a "turn down" service so I was confused as to why there were people lurking outside my door before dinner. We ended up borrowing their two of their bikes and taking a little ride around the area. It was very scenic and there were lots of sheep and horses to see. I also got a facial treatment at the spa which is tucked away behind the garden. The spa is really small but cute. I was really happy with the microdermabrasion. They also had an outdoor pool area which I didn't get a chance to try. This place is definitely pricey but if you are looking for a private, quiet, romantic get-away, this place is it.

We came here for the English "smart tea experience." We chose the classic tea option that came with 4 different kinds of finger sandwiches (yes, cucumber sandwiches included), a scone with clotted cream and preserves, a variety of cakes and pastries, and a pot of tea. We chose Earl Grey and added pot of English Breakfast as well to share. Everything was delicious and I enjoyed every minute of the traditional afternoon tea experience! Staffs were very friendly and attentive which made it even better. They have a beautiful garden in the back, which is a big plus. Don't forget to check it out!

Love this place! It's beautiful outside and inside. The rooms are modern in style and all a bit different. Free wi-fi and movie rentals, good food and drinks!

Although set in a very nice part of the world I found this place priced at a level approaching silly and the service way below what you'd expect. The rooms are nice but incredibly expensive. The food we had at lunch was nice but even though we were 1 of only 2 tables seated they took nearly an hour to bring a salad. It's better than The Village Pub, its other hotel/pub/restaurant down the road which is easily the worst and most overpriced place I have ever stayed at.

This is astunning place to stay. The rooms are gorgeous and very atmospheric. Service is welcoming and friendly. If you go though, youll be bowled over by the beautiful garden. Try to make it a summer stay that you have, to see the garden in its true glory.
