Yelp
We were excited to try this new place in K-town for its new, more modern gastropub concept on this street. I was pleasantly surprised that although it was after 6.30pm in Koreatown (FYI, Ktown is also notorious for no reservations, but this place actually does take reservations for 6+ people) and we didn't have 6 people/couldn't make reservations, we didn't have to wait, although it was also very full. Perhaps because it's very spacious.
On their menu, there's the different types of Korean bottle drinks, e.g. soju, makeolli, soju cocktail, beer/wine etc. A little expensive as expected in K-town ($50 per bottle of soju). As chaser ("anju"), we ordered 6 small dishes: truffle fries, chicken gizzard ("ddongjip"), beef spicy fish rice cakes ("bulgogi dukbokie"), rice ball stir fry ("jjukeomee"), pork belly kimchi and cabbage ("bossam"), and kimchi pancakes ("pajeon"). We couldn't finish this all for 3 people, of course. As they say in Korean, our "eyes were bigger than our stomachs.") Portions varied. I have to go back to understand the pattern more.
At the end when I got the check, I got to meet one of family members who owns the place. He said they opened with the intention to bring a new feeling/concept, e.g. modern bar on this street, which was clearly evident. To me, it had a slight hipster gastropub yet very modern/elegant feel. Also he was particularly excited to bring the many various drink (e.g. wine and tequila) options with different unique stories about their alcohol. I wish I could stay longer to learn more, but as one of the pictures will show, for example, you can download an app for one wine company, and when you take a picture with their app, the character in the wine bottle through the app will begin telling it's story/creation.
Looking forward to trying this place again/learning more and exploring their drink stories next time. Also, service was on point. Just a tad expensive as expected!
