"Barebecue at Barque Barque Smokehouse is a contender for the best barbecue in Toronto (even if it's across the city in Roncesvalles Village). The barbecue sampler for one is a great value at $25. I chose short ribs, beef ribs, and a chicken thigh, all of which were tasty choices (the short ribs were my favorite). There are also samplers for two with an option for more sides. Burgers are available at lunch, and brunch merits an early wakeup call."

I really liked the neighborhood where the restaurant is located. The atmosphere, staff, and food quality were all excellent. I especially appreciate their policy regarding their staff—it’s commendable. As for the food, the Tender Chicken was one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had. It was perfectly juicy with a crispy breadcrumb crust, fried to perfection. Although it was labeled as “Nashville Hot,” I didn’t find it particularly spicy—but that didn’t take away from how delicious it was. We also tried the Brussels sprouts and fries as sides and enjoyed them. The wings were fantastic as well. However, as a meat lover, I found the brisket dish underwhelming. It tasted more like it had been slow-cooked in water rather than smoked, which didn’t meet my expectations based on the restaurant’s name. On the bright side, the sour bourbon I ordered was amazing! Overall, I’ll definitely be returning. A big thank you to the management for valuing both their staff and customers!

Google
AWESOME PLACE! if you love food and have appreciation for meats, this is a great place! Everything tasted amazing and the restaurant itself is very cool looking. It's on the more expensive side but you at least need to experience it once! You will not be disappointed

The food was great here and although we were told the service is normally great, we waited far too long for our meals. In the end, they tried to make it right by comping the dessert and apologizing profusely - since they were training new staff. Kids eat free here on weeknights, and they put a kid movie up on a screen behind the bar.

Been a long time since I was on RONCY and at BARQUE. It was definitely per-COVID and a nice sunny summer day on their patio. Glad to see they have survived as a RONCY staple. A winter's cold walk was ok but nice to get inside!!! As a Saturday BRUNCH I was a bit disappointed with the lack of BBQ items but we managed. The NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN SANDWICH ($26) was crispy and delicious ...and not too hot (for me I am not so good with heat....) as to enjoy its flavours. Served with a generous portion of thin crispy fries with a hotter paprika seasoning ...excellent!!! The SMOKED DUCK PANCAKES ($26) was a bit of a bizarre flavour combination but I tried it. Light fluffy pancakes (3) and the blueberry compote was thick and flavourful........but the duck just did not do it for me. A side of SMOKEY DILL PICKLE SLAW ($12) was a combination of the vinegary-creamy southern low country states but I really do prefer mine the more northern creamy. Friendly and expert service and apparently a restaurant which INCLUDED TIPS IN THEIR PRICES.......which I have NEVER experienced....here in Canada anyway. I was really hoping for a larger BBQ selection for lunch but I guess I should have checked the site before we went in. Also, I obviously do not get into the 416 often as I thought that the menu selections were a bit pricy, however, I was told by my more "travelled" daughters that that seems to be the norm for Toronto brunches.I think I will stay out here in the more reasonable "burbs".

I ate here a few months ago (May 2024) and forgot to leave a review but I have been thinking about it ever since! I had the weekday boxed lunch — the brisket sandwich is delicious, the fries were perfectly seasoned, and the slaw with dill is a total game changer. It’s also a great spot for people watching if you get a window seat. Highly recommend!

I recently visited BBQ Smokehouse, a great spot that's perfect for families and kids. The restaurant has a modern and welcoming atmosphere, making it a nice local hangout. What sets them apart is their unique take on barbecue—there's definitely something special about their smoked beef and chicken wings, which are incredibly moist and flavorful. The staff is friendly and accommodating, enhancing the overall experience. However, I did find the portion sizes to be smaller than expected, especially considering the price. For example, the full rack of baby back ribs felt more like a half rack compared to typical U.S. standards, yet it comes with a premium price tag. Overall, while the food is delicious and the environment is top-notch, be prepared for a higher price point and smaller portions. But if you're looking for quality barbecue in a family-friendly setting, BBQ Smokehouse is worth a visit

Google
The service was excellent! Food amazing! We had the sampler for two. Ribs, Brisket, Sausage. Plus Caesar Salad and Wings. Definitely recommend this place. Also really great the staff are paid well at a living wage for working there.

Google
Overall good service. Their bbq meats are delicious. Only that I wish their portions are a bit bigger. The sampler for two isn’t enough for two people. Of course it’s subjective but for the price I would expect a bigger portion. I really like the tips included price. All the restaurants should do the same. By the way the Cesar drink is wonderful.

Yelp
Kind of dark inside, almost too dark, but with a welcoming staff and a lovely popcorn appetizer. Brussel sprouts are pretty decent as are the skinny french fries, but you come for the BBQ. The brisket was some of the best I've had, actually left with some texture and a pretty deep flavor from the sauce, in stark contrast to many of their competitors which pretty much BBQ or smoke the meat to death to the point it's ready to fall apart (ick) and the only flavor is smoke (blah). The pork ribs were pretty okay but clearly second-fiddle to the brisket. Friends really loved this place and say it's among the best of the local BBQ places in the area, but I have insufficient experience to truly judge.

Scott M.

Yelp
The ribs were excellent and so was the mac and cheese, everything else was decent. The service was very very good and the ambiance was friendly. My only negative thing to say was that we did find it very expensive.

Alykhan V.

Yelp
If you're in the area and want to have some barbecue, this is the spot to go! Ambiance - 4/5 - nice vibe to come with a friend or two and have some barbecue! Service - 5/5. Our server was very sweet and checked up on us a lot, had a nice smile and really just made me leave the night saying, "she was so nice and had such great service"! What was also noteworthy is that tip isn't required at this restaurant - the machine doesn't even have the option. Although, the food is a bit pricey, so that probably makes up for the no tip, as the servers are paid full wages. Food: Overall - 4/5 Cornbread - 3/5. Tasted good, but nothing I'd say you must order. Beef brisket - 4/5. Tasty and soft, with a nice sauce. Would recommend it!

Yelp
I used to come to this place a lot way before Covid happened and loved it but when I recently went the food menu had changed since and quality of dishes fallen a lot. I won't be returning because I didn't enjoy my food. Not sure if management changed or what happened.

Sharon Y.

Yelp
We ordered the chicken tenders, smoked beef brisket, and piri piri grilled carrots and broccoli. The chicken tenders were very crispy, as they are panko crusted. They were delicious and I would definitely recommend. The carrots and broccoli were also nicely seasoned and came in a generous portion. It was topped with cashews, which are a nice touch. However, the brisket was a bit of a disappointment. At $32 for a half lb, it's fairly pricey so I had high expectations. I was pretty disappointed - the cut of meat wasn't fatty enough and overall the brisket was a bit dry. I've had briskets from BBQ places across the city and this is probably among the worst one I've had, while also being the most expensive. The service was great and the waiter was extremely attentive - I spilled a bit of sauce on my shirt and he noticed and immediately brought over a Tide to Go! This restaurant also pays their employees a fair wage so tips are not necessary. I do appreciate that a lot. Overall the food was okay - interestingly the smoked meat itself was a disappointment but everything else was good. The service was lovely. If I'm ever in the area I might give this place another try.

Yelp
This place is truly amazing. My girlfriend Hannah and I ordered the sharing platter. (Ribs, sausage, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, and fries) the food was absolutely amazing. The most tender sausage I've ever had. They also give you complimentary pop corn with some absolutely fire in-house seasoning on it. I mentioned to the server the seasoning was amazing, and when we went to pay, he gave us a seasoning bottle for free. If I could rate a 6/5 I would. We will definitely be back.

Tammy C.

Yelp
I wish I could get this restaurant 10 stars. It is so fantastically delicious. I was lucky enough to actually go here when opened. I believe it was actually the opening night. I often bring people who I know are also foodies to this restaurant to introduce them to this amazing food. We had dinner for two. We chose ribs and brisket. You can actually choose three items but I happen to know the brisket is crazy good. We also got the macaroni and cheese and the broccolini. Everything was so good. We barely even spoke to one another. I was so excited about the food I didn't even take a single picture. It was really lovely to be able to sit out on the patio. They have done such a lovely job creating a beautiful atmosphere. I was also impressed that the server let us know that we need not tipped because they make fair market wages (we still left a tenner). This restaurant is definitely my number one and Roncy.

Yelp
Scattered thoughts about this place. Atmosphere is great. Definitely a high-end BBQ spot right when you walk in. Ordered the Sampler for Two (96) where we chose the Caesar Salad, Chicken Thigh, Farmer's Sausage, Baby Back Ribs, Mac N' Cheese and Collard Greens. The highlight for me was probably the Mac N' Cheese and Farmer Sausage. Both were done quite nicely. Great flavours on the sausage. The chicken and ribs were just ok. Surprisingly dry ribs which was disappointing. Great service, very attentive and they are one of the few no-tip restaurants around. I had pretty high expectations given the price and while its pretty expensive, I think it's still a nice, intimate spot overall.

Gee D.

Yelp
One of my favs for bbq and wings. The in-house bbq sauces are great and it's nice that they sell by the bottle if you want to take home.

Courtney C.

Yelp
Came here on a whim and was shocked by their pricing. Everything seemed overly priced. The service was great and it had a nice cozy vibe. A half pound of beef brisket for $32, this better be the best brisket I've ever put in my mouth.....and it was! It was super tender, perfect amount of fatness. Their classic barbecue sauce was also delicious. A great balance, not too sweet or smokey. 5/5 We also got their corn bread, and this is my personal favourite. I already love corn bread but they just totally elevated it by grilling it and also by adding real corn, herbs and butter on it! 5/5 Honourable mention, their Mac and cheese was very cheesy, and I also enjoy the crispy topping on top! 4/5 Lastly, we had to get some green. Opted for their grilled garlic gai lan. It had interesting flavours but for $14 and only 4 pieces of gai lan.... I would skip it. 3/5. It wasn't until we went to pay for the bill where we realized this is one of those no tipping restaurant... now it all make sense. Overall, I recommend this spot for some bomb barbecue meat!

Yelp
I'm in love with a sandwich. There are many reasons to come here. Obviously for the food. Went here twice for lunch and had the brisket sandwich. Twice. It's yummy and slightly sweet with a bit of smoke. The service is fantastic we had two different people each visit and the service is friendly, strong and consistent. Last but not least they are paid a living wage so tips are optional. I generally hate high top tables but I was perfectly comfortable on my second visit with the retro chairs and the high top. It's a roadhouse ambience and comfortably casual. Don't miss this place. It's awesome.

Yelp
We stopped into Barque for lunch after playing in High Park. The restaurant is kid-friendly (kid menu, crayons *and* homemade play dough), with a large interior and patio seating. The restaurant pays living wages so staff are not relying on tips, and service was fantastic. The coffee is local, from reunion coffee roasters just down the street, and the whole place smells like the best bbq you can imagine. We were there at brunch and my husband had the brunch Benedict served over brisket and corn bread, and just about licked the plate. I had the brisket sandwich with their side Caesar and yes, the brisket was melt in your mouth, the bread soft and pillowy with a crisp edge and red cabbage coleslaw to add crunch, but can we talk about the side Caesar? Creamy, garlicky dressing, crisp bacon, slices of sharply aged parmesan, crumbled bbq seasoned crumb crunch things instead of croutons, and beautiful crisp romaine. I love a good Caesar and this is the best I've had in the city. And yes, their bbq is probably the best too, but the care taken to make the simple side Caesar, a ubiquitous, oft overlooked side, a thing of beauty, is the cherry on the cake here. Their bathrooms are also singles, non-gendered, with a small step stool in the one containing the change room (family friendly!) If you are a wheelchair user it may be difficult to navigate around chairs and bar stools, and the double-door entryway.

Yelp
Top notch food and good service. We fully enjoyed out time at Barque. We ordered party plate that includes variety of meats. There was sausage, ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork. I think we pretty much tried everything and it was amazing. Prices are not cheap but it is expected for a place as such.

Julianne J.

Yelp
Original sides and solid smoked meats. What really makes this restaurant shine is its incredible service. From the moment you walk in the door the staff is genuinely warm, caring and friendly. They go over and above to anticipate your needs and are incredibly grateful for your presence. We also really appreciated the neighborhood feel and cool decor.

Leslie C.

Yelp
My friend suggested we go here for dinner and I was blown away from beginning to end. The servers were all incredibly genuine, caring, and sweet. The place itself is warm and cozy. It really amplifies the experience with the food. The food was on point. Ever dish, every bite. It was all flavourful and comforting at the same time. Check this place out if you are in the area.

Yelp
One of my favourite smokehouses! I love how everything is super tasty and tender. We recently ordered a sampler platter which came with one sausage, some Turkey, pulled pork, two pieces of brisket and a small rack of ribs (6 bones). I wish it came with some bbq sauce and more veg in their package but I also appreciated the wide variety of meat! Decent price for that portion. I also liked how they gave us a small bag of popcorn which would have been complimentary during dine in so that was nice!! I can't wait to go back!

Ben F.

Yelp
A great spot for BBQ located on the bustling Roncesvalles strip! If you like good meat eats, you will not be disappointed.

Bruce A.

Yelp
Atmosphere amazing. Good looks incredible. Servers were nice and accommodating while being very busy. Helpful with my ordering for my first being in the restaurant. All in all great spot.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Really impressed with everything from Barque. My partner and I ordered the Meet Meat Platter for 2. The meat standouts for me were the pulled pork and brisket. Both were really juicy, and not overly saucy. My partner loved the ribs. I prefer juicy ribs and less sauce, but they did taste good. The turkey was just okay. We ended up saving it for a sandwich later. We also added the dill coleslaw, the mac and cheese and the fries. The fries had an amazing sweet spice, plus they're crinkle cut, so yum. The mac and cheese was SOOOO good. Mac and cheese at BBQ joints is always good, but this one stood out for sure. The dill coleslaw was incredibly too. Not heavy on the cream, and a ton of flavour. A little on the pricier side, but well worth all of the delicious layers of flavour, and you certainly won't go hungry.

Yelp
Place looks amazing, waitress were very friendly. Came to our table and there was a pail of complimentary popcorn!!! We were offered complimentary still or sparkling. We got the sampler for two with the two different ciders. Starter we have pulled pork poutine: pulled pork was filled with flavours, the fries had a sweetness to it. They even swapped our app plates after our starter!! Ribs: flavours for the ribs r great but I wish there was a little more sauce. Lamb shoulder: flavours are on the outside not much in the centre Brisket: great taste n juicy because it has the fat there. If not it would be too dry. Cajun corn: was too charcoaled, all I could taste was the charcoal n Cajun sauce. Asparagus: too much pepper. Overall my experience was great! But the only thing that I saw and was iffy about was how they just refilled the still water bottles from other tables without cleaning them... like if the finished cleaning the table and that bottle was half full they just fill it back up to the top. I've only seen then do it one week and the rest seems like they got fresh bottles from under the counter.

MJ L.

Yelp
[Good] BBQ - Ribs, wings, pulled pork...all great here! Flavours are unique and and bold. The sauce on the ribs were sticky and had a grainy texture which is different from your typical run of the mill watery BBQ sauce. Pulled pork came with some grainy mustard that meshed very well. Water - A very random thing to appreciate I know. Waitress asked for still or sparkling when we sat down and being the Asian that I am, I instinctively asked for tap. I've been burned too many times ordering a $10 bottle of water. Without judgement, she comes back with both a jug each of still and sparkling and said it's complementary. Popcorn - Chow down on some free popcorn while you mull over your BBQ options! [Neutral] Lunch portions - A little on the small side than what I'd expect for BBQ but I guess it's lunch so it's reasonable. [Worth it?] Anytime you get good BBQ up here in the north it's worth it. It's a little far for a Markham dweller but I can say it's worth the trek. Make sure you make reservations for dinner. The first time I came and walked in, it was for dinner years ago and we waited until 10pm for a table of 6. They fed us popcorn while we waited so that was nice. I will return whenever I can.

Yelp
I went for a long walk this morning and part of my walk was north on Roncesvalles Avenue. I passed by Barque Smokehouse and was hungry so decided to stop in for brunch. I'd never been there before. I ordered Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles. My meal came out really quickly ... too quickly. Not surprising, the waffles and the chicken were cold. I've had chicken and waffles before elsewhere so knew they were supposed to be hot. I was going to call over my server when I came across a substantial piece of wire scouring pad. Ewwwww! Needless to say, that was it for me! Thankfully I'd only had a couple bites before I found it. My server asked me if I'd like anything else. No thanks! She gave me a small bottle of meat rub as an apology. She handled the situation professionally. Not a great first impression! UPDATE: My response to Barque's comment: I do understand that mistakes happen and am glad you are taking steps so it doesn't happen again. With my meal, it wasn't just one thing. The waffles and chicken were cold when they should have been hot. Finding the wire scouring pad made the experience even worse. That scouring pad could have been in some gross places and I could/might have ingested some of it. The server was nice about it. She did ask if I wanted to order something else ... I wasn't offered a complimentary replacement meal. Considering I'd only had four bites from my meal, it would have been inappropriate to have been charged for it. I did offered to pay for my pop.

Rebeca P.

Yelp
I go to this place very often (and order often via Uber Eats) and I just keep liking it more and more. I find that one of the best BBQ experiences here (personally, the one I've enjoyed the most) is the BBQ platter for 2 - it's a full meal for two people that allows you to pick one starter, three mains and two sides. This is the perfect option if you want to try a little bit of everything - a good combo is to order the chicken legs, the pulled pork and the ribs as mains. SO. MUCH. FOOD. And so delicious!!!! Given the portions I don't find it pricy at all - it's 63 bucks (without taxes) for two people. I find the ribs in this place are spectacular. I've tried them all, but the lemon pepper rub ones are out of this world and my favourites. One piece of advice if you decide to order any of the combos / platters, is to get a salad or some greens as sides. Last time I ordered the fries and, because they cook them with BBQ rub too, the meal overall felt too heavy at the end. Come, and enjoy!!!

Kisha S.

Yelp
One of my go to brunch spots in quaint Roncey village. Nothing warms my soul more than duck confit and waffles

Philip C.

Yelp
Started off my lunch seated at the patio on a gorgeous day with complimentary sparkling water. The server came by shortly to take my order. I ordered the Brisket Eggs Benedict and the Jumbo Smoked Wings with the 299 Competition dry rub. I loved the difference the cornbread made to the Eggs Benedict dish. Generally you'd expect an English Muffin, but the cornbread added another level of sweetness and texture to the dish with the savouriness of the brisket. The side of potatoes were nicely seasoned as well. The Jumbo Smoked Wings... They were pretty jumbo alright. The 299 Competition dry rub had a very nice smokey and sweetness to it. Definitely a must try. Would love to come back for dinner and try out the ribs.

Donna S.

Yelp
I've been here a few times, this place gets high reviews but I'd say the barbeque meats are average. The beef brisket is somewhat dry and the ribs are a little on the dry side as well. The ribs taste pretty good but I'd expect to see juicy, fall off the bone stuff. The pecan pie is yummy. It's nice that they have complementary popcorn at the table but it's on the stale side. Also unusual is that in the summer their air-conditioning doesn't seem to be that high and it's very hot and stuffy in the restaurant. Good thing the last time we went we were able to grab a table on the patio which was quite nice.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Funny Story, we actually went into the Barque Bar and was seated and realized we were in the wrong place and went to the Smokehouse! The sample was a good deal - gives you a chance to try different things on the menu on a budget. For the starter we got the Korean BBQ Nachos - which was SO good and different from any other nachos out there (but is a little salty). For the meat we selected, the Baby Back Ribs, Smoked Beef Brisket & Pulled Pork - which was all very tasty!! For the sides, we got the crispy brussel sprouts and the smoked garlic mashed potatoes - which were both tasty but nothing special (but everything else made up for it). We also for the caesar salad, which was also good too! Would we come back? Yeah, so many meal pairing options! We ordered: BBQ Sampler for 2, includes 1 starter, 3 selection from the BAR-B-Q selection & 2 sides ($64), Korean BBQ Nachos (included in the sampler) & Barque Caesar salad ($12) Follow us @cindysfood (IG) for more reviews!

Yelp
Absolutely terrible. Utterly bland, flavorless bbq. The only thing with any taste at all was the "buffalo-spiced" wings, which tasted more like Cajun spicing anyway. The brisket was thick and tough. The chopped pork looked like table scraps, and had no flavour. The potatoes and collards were both undercooked. Calling this bbq is like calling mayonnaise hot sauce. Also, a thimbleful of dressing for a big salad -- hope you like plain lettuce. Also, ridiculously large prices and tiny portions (aside from the aforementioned lettuce).

Lana D.

Yelp
This place is delicious. Probably hands down one of my favourite BBQ places in the city and worth the trek to Roncy. We got a seat on the patio which was really nice and fully covered. When the sun went down they opened the top a little and the breeze felt amazing considering how hot the weekend was. Also, love that they had brown paper bags hanging around the patio. The server explained that this was to get rid of the pesky wasps - it worked! Didn't see a single wasp during dinner. First I started dinner with a candied bacon caesar - it was nice and spicy and flavourful. Definitely recommend it. They also have complimentary sparkling water to start. Service was really good throughout the night as well. Our table ordered the 4oz brisket, was nervous it would be too little to share but it was the perfect amount for 2 people. Absolutely LOVED the brisket. My favourite of the meal. We also ordered half a rack of ribs, smoked asparagus and the potato and leek salad. Would definitely recommend both sides. The asparagus gave a nice balance to our meal with the heavy potatoes and meat. They also don't cheap out on side portions so that was good to see. I'll definitely be back, and next time would want to try the brunch and smoked wings! Overall highly recommended!

Alice Y.

Yelp
1/2 rack of ribs was not as tender and fall off the bones, would not re-order. The stand outs were the chicken wings, not your average skinny wing. Perfectly meaty with the right amount of smoky taste (Goldilocks level: not too smoky, not too little, just the right amount). The mac and cheese was really smooth and velvety and had a spicy kick, was a pleasant side to have. The prices were reasonable for a smokehouse. Restaurant decor was really great with tufted chairs, a really nice open bar and an open kitchen. Service was very attentive.

Amy A.

Yelp
Our orders: Bourbon sour, smoke and choke, baby back ribs, smoked brisket sandwich Pros + Service was nice and friendly. Prompt. + Food was absolutely delicious. I loved the brisket the most. Hands down. Cons - A bit rowdy but I didn't expect any less at a smokehouse. It was a hearty meal and a fun time!

Faithe W.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on Saturday with my boyfriend and some friends. The place was busy but we didn't have to wait to long to get a seat. I enjoyed that we had the option of sparkling and flat and that the waitress left both on the table since half our party wanted regular and the other half preferred sparkling. Our party consisted of 4 adults and a three year old. When even the three year old was stating how good the beef brisket was you know it's good, as kids are hard to please! I ordered the brunch poutine, which i attaches the picture of. It contains home fries, cheese curds, gravy, and candied smoked bacon and a sunny side up egg. It had a ton of flavour and the was delicious especially the candied bacon. It was a smaller portion but super filling! The place does get quite busy so i recommend going on an off time if possible. Great spot to go on a date, with friends or with family.

Yelp
This place is not bad. I've been to most BBQ places in Toronto and to be honest, the best of them would be considered average or below average if you were in the States. Barque is no different. Had the Meat Platter four Four. Came with ribs (the best thing on the plate...pretty decent), beef brisket (not much flavour), competition chicken thigh (presentation is nice but not much flavour), lamb shoulder (kinda bland), turkey sausage (interesting texture), pulled pork (OK). This plate was $99 for four people so it was actually really decent value for the amount of food. But the flavour was simply lacking. Service was friendly and pro. Atmosphere is nice. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Al S.

Yelp
Best wings I'd ever had. Priced a little on the high side but all on menu was a little expensive. Staff very friendly. They have a no tip policy which I loved and all the beer was served in proper 20oz pint sizes, none of this 14 oz stuff or different sizes depending in brand, a pint is a pint. $10 plus tax and no tip. Staff don't hustle for tips so it's a more relaxed environment. They also serve lunch with brunch all available up to 2pm.

Rommel D.

Yelp
I love BBQ. Just the word makes me think of thick cuts of meat, cooked low and slow. Smells of hickory, mesquite, or applewood smoked ribs, brisket or chicken make my mouth water. As you approach this restaurant that is what you can smell in the air. Plenty of options to chose from. We went with the buffalo chicken wrap with the side of fresh cut fries poutine. Poutine was fantastic and worth the upgrade. Wish we had a bit more chicken in the wrap though. The bbq platter which includes two choices of meet. Beef brisket and good ol' pulled pork. Side of Mac n Cheese. Dish was filling and delicious. Would've like a bit more smoke flavour and more of a smoke ring on the brisket but all in all a very good visit and worth a second.

Yelp
I waited a few days after I cooled off. This order was absolutely terrible. First of all everything was cold, second I think my Skip the Dishes driver(Female 250+Lbs)grabbed food from my order.Check the pic out $44 tax tip in.My 15 year old son ate the whole order. Very disappointed.

Yelp
3.5 stars Whoever is in charge of the menu or marketing is a bit of a genius... Barque Rack O'Bama. Really?? This is honestly one of the best named dishes in Toronto and probably one of the key reasons why I tried this place before the other best Toronto BBQ places. Aside from the great name, Barque on Roncy is a nice family friendly bar. Though the tables for 2 are really small and barely held the dishes on it, the space is bigger than most places on Roncy and you're not overly crowded. There's a bit of bar seating for those who dont have a reservations and you do need a rez here. It gets busy quickly on a Saturday with a constant flow of families. Service here is friendly and fairly quick. We were greeted and shown to our tables with no issues. We had our food also delivered with an issue as well. Chopped Kale Salad - Ok I know I know... who gets a salad at a BBQ place. Well I do cause I dont eat THAT much meat and I wasn't feeling mac & cheese or poutine side. Which by the way looked monstrous. We got a large and I will say its a very healthy size... easily feeds 2+. It was nicely dressed and the pickled cabbage and carrots was a nice crunchy addition. The fat white blobs of turnip... less so. Mostly flavourless. 3.5/5 Rib Taster - Star of the meal... you get 3 to 4 ribs per sauce flavour. So the Barque Rack O'Bama, Sweet Heat, and Dry Rub. I can safely say that the sauces and flavour is good. There are definite clear smoke rings on these which is much better than most other places. Were these tender? Only one... the sweet heat. Were they meaty? Kinda ... not really. I found it weird they didnt take off the membrane on the ribs either so sometimes it felt like chewing through a tough plastic piece. This is definitely above average ribs but I'm not sure I would order these automatically if I came back here. 3.5/5 Brisket - We got a bit of the brisket as well and these were much better than the Smoke Signals and Carbon ones. These were juicier and more tender. And if you had the appetite of a hungry cub, you could order the larger size for only a few more dollars ($4 if I remember right). Another good thing, I didnt feel the need to use the sauce for these. Also, I liked how they were served above lukewarm temperatures (Carbon & Smoke was just barely warm)! 3.5/5 Overall, it's a solid place on Roncy to dine with a group of family or friends. Service is good and the food is solid too. Though I dont think it's my favourite place in Toronto for BBQ, it can definitely understand why it is constantly filled on a Saturday night.

Yelp
Brunch Duck Pancakes!!! My fav! Smoked Duck with blueberry sauce, goat cheese on a 3stack jack. It's amazing!! I can never be persuaded to get anything else, even though I try to force myself to try new menu items. Service is great! I've had nothing but amazing experiences here! I should try dinner, as I heard it was good...but I can't, I need my duck pancakes!

Yelp
Nice little place with great seating, good setting and atmosphere. Loved the chairs and decor. We ordered the Sampler for 2. Which included a starter choice of 4 mains and 2 sides. The duck Tacos where ok could have used more sauce on the taco and didnt find the smoked meat perhaps the best option for a taco. The pulled lamb shoulder I found quite dry and was dissapointed with that. However the Brisket, Chicken legs and Lemon pepper ribs where quite good. Really enjoyed the mac and cheese it was to die for the pimento cheese really added a nice flavour. The Ranch Slaw was over dressed and bland you really couldn't taste any of the apple for contrast. Seems like some really great menu options, perhaps a few just need tweaking. Bathrooms where clean I liked that they where "for everyone" Wait staff was pleasant and well trained and quick to check in. Although we had quite a long wait time for our mains after our starter. Enjoyed the meal would come back! Would be a great option for groups to share!

Yelp
I went to this place with high hopes of eating good food and receiving some great service... I think the only thing i liked consuming at this place was the water... ok ok fine the duck tacos were good but that was IT!!!!! The place really looked busy which is a good thing right? I really don't understand why it was busy... or probably people were there for the drinks? or convenience? I don't know! The menu looked a bit confusing for someone who's been there for the first and probably last time ;) Our server was alright...I felt a bit weirded out when we were trying to ask her questions and she kind of made us feel like we're a bit stupid for not understanding the menu and how it worked. She knew we were there for the first time and did not recommend any items. She did not seem helpful at all. She did not explain the different sauce types or anything!!! We ordered the sampler for two... It includes one appetizer, three bbq items and two sides for 60 dollars. We ordered duck tacos for appetizer (as previously mentioned) southern fried chicken, smoked maple salmon (I cant remember the name) and pulled lamb shoulder Mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. The portions were great or it just seemed great because we hardly ate anything. Southern fried chicken (Soggy fried chicken) or more like they boiled the chicken. Smoked maple salmon was decent the pulled lamb shoulder had....well...no taste... and was not "pulled enough" Mac and cheese tasted like cardboard box and garlic mashed potatoes tasted like garlic toothpaste with no taste? I don't even know how to describe the food honestly. I was so disappointed. I ran into another friend there who did not enjoy the food either... and another co worker stated that the ribs were really dry and tasteless. I was really disappointed with the place. The tables are fairly close to one another so you can definately hear what the table next to you is talking about and vice versa. but let me try to find some pros of going here: 1. They greet you when you enter 2. They give you an option of either sparkling water or regular water 3. They serve you when the food is ready 4. I'm glad at least our server noticed that we hardly touched our food and offered to pack it for us. 5. The washrooms were clean 6. They did not kick us out when they closed and let us take our time to leave 7. Finding parking was not too bad I do think this place really needs to change up their recipes or something...and at least hire friendlier servers or at least train them again. I DO NOT recommend this place. If you want to waste your money, then go ahead.I wish I had taken my 76 dollars somewhere else that was worth my calories intake and time. Thank you for reading while I barkabout the Barque smokehouse :)

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed a date night dinner here. We loved it! The atmosphere was warm and cozy. Our waitress was attentive and knew the menu. The Caesar salad was delicious and I especially enjoyed the pulled pork. They offer many different homemade sauces to compliment your smoked meat too. The mashed potatoes were incredibly salty, which the waitress said must have been a kitchen error. They gave us a complimentary rub to bring home in compensation for the potatoes. Also, the bar stools are really clunky and we found them a nuisance when the table behind us wanted to get up, as we were forced to stand up too. That could easily be fixed though! I would recommend making a reservation as it was packed.

Yelp
a neighborhood go to for us...maybe its the addiction to the complimentary spice dusted popcorn. The menu is easy to navigate and delicious. Love the brisket and the wings are a must try. The potato salad option during lunch has a light flavour and one of our favourite sides, Ofcourse there are the ribs, but I'm impartial to the brisket and even have it with a bit of their mustard based bbq sauce on occasion. Definitely call ahead if you can to reserve a table or you might be in for a wait. Lots of street parking around and with Butcher bar just a few doors down, don't forget you can try that location that carries many of the same menu items!

Yelp
Not bad here. Third visit, as reliable as always. Only thing I don't like is you need reservations to get a table Most days. Now I'm not complaining but sitting st the bar and watching two tables open for the whole visit didn't make sense. The bar is cool , but it's awakeard with others usually sharing plates which is highly encouraged.

Yelp
5 star alarm!!!!! If your reading this, and I hope you are, rarely do I ever compose a review immediately after I eat. I usually wait a week and procrastinate.... FYI people - I am a full time business traveler. BBQ is a staple of my big fat expense spending, yes I am on an expense account. I get to go where ever I want, eat whatever I want. I seek out the best of the best....... It is rare that a restaurant just blows me away..... KC BBQ, been there done that. Blah! Carolina BBQ, been there done that. Blah! Texas BBQ, yeah whatever. Over rated!!!Toronto BBQ, wtf? Really? The hardcore pitmasters just rolled over in their grave. Once again, the Yelp community shows me the light, thank you fellow Yelpaholics. Toronto people, this joint is friggin' awesome. You do not know how lucky you are. The dry rub wings are perfect. The dry rub allows for a crispy skin that snaps off. The smoked meat is NOT your typical pink smoke chicken meat, its on the whiter side with no smoke aftertaste you find in some joints. The wings are served in a cast iron skillet, I was literally dipping and scraping for the dry rub that fell to the bottom of the skillet. We ordered the Dry Rub (herb-crusted crunch), Sweet Heat (sticky, sweet, with a little bite) and Barque Rack O' Bama (the classic: rubbed, smoked, basted, basted) Rib Taster. The Rib Taster is 1/3 rack of each flavor. The winner goes to Barque Rack O'Bama!!!! I had to laugh at the name, fitting for Canada, they do love the left....... The Sweat Heat is great too. Note ---- the Dry Rub is different than the wing dry rub, it is more of a Jerk. Just sayn'. All the baby back ribs are meat fall of the bone good. We also ordered the Beef Brisket and the Pommery Pull Pork. The brisket was okay, but I am very critical of brisket and only like it a certain way, it would have rated a 7 out of 10. Decent, but not to die for. The Pommery Pulled Pork was excellent, some of the best I have ever had. Sides - Cajun Mac n' Cheese. The white cheddar is great and the Cajun panko is a nice touch, but I did not taste any Cajun. Still really good, but like my brisket, I tend to be overly critical of macncheese. Now the fries --------- YELP TIP ---------- ask your sever to put the same dry rub on the fries as on the wings. Awesomeness!!!!! You will thank me later. So I did not post any pictures, but the pictures on here are pretty accurate. The inside is cramped and loud, but get over it and dig into some killer BBQ.

Yelp
Ordered the BBQ Sampler ($19) with smoked brisket, Kansas City style ribs and Barque Caesar salad for lunch. Everything were delicious, but the ribs and candied bacon on the Caesar salad were AMAZING! Can't wait to try the pulled pork and chicken wings.

Yelp
I enjoy a good BBQ so I really wanted to love Barque Smokehouse. This review should be considered and understood for what it is; that is, in my opinion, their prices seemed a little expensive. The food, while not exceptional, was fairly good. I do appreciate that the costs of food has increased dramatically for restaurants and this has resulted in those costs being passed onto diners. I also appreciate that by paying their staff living wages the customer foots the bill. I have no problem with that at all, except when the prices in relation to portions do not meet expectations. I mean the price for a rack of ribs (please pass me my reading glasses Duchess, is that really the price?) so I expected something of a Flintstone's sized portion but it turned out to be barely enough for two people to share. And $19 for six chicken wings that are listed as Jumbo sized wings but looked like the usual size to me. I mean over $3 a wing of any size is absurd. The restaurant itself was welcoming, warm and cozy. The staff were friendly and our server was delightful. We enjoyed our time there and felt our business was appreciated. Our visit was to celebrate a birthday and our group was five adults. Between us we ordered a rack of ribs, an order of wings, a Greek salad and a Caesar salad, one order each of the chicken thighs and chicken tenders, and four sides. Between us we had 3 draft beers, 4 - 5 oz. glasses of wine, and one cocktail. The bill came to about $370. These days $75 per person with a drink or two is not highly unusual when dining out but, because the Duchess and I footed the bill it did seem to be more than expected for basically good pub food. Of course, they do make a point of noting that tipping isn't expected due to paying their staff fair wages but (nudge nudge wink wink) we were reminded that anything would be appreciated. So of course we obliged. Overall our visit was enjoyable and our guests were happy. This review should be only construed as a notice to others as what to expect in terms of the pricing and portions. Of note, prior to going there was no way available to look at the menu with prices on their website. Perhaps there is a reason for that. One nice touch was they provided a free dessert for the guest of honour!

Yelp
Gone way down hill. When they first opened they were ok. A little pretentious for my liking because I never thought the food was really all that. But recently we tried ordering through a delivery service and I can honestly say it was the worst meal of my life. So bad, in fact, we literally did not finish it. What REALLY gets me about this place is that you pay a premium for their food. Our delivery order for 2 people was almost a hundred dollars ... and we threw most of it away. I won't eat there again.

Yelp
A very complex (in a good way) breakfast (brunch), which will keep you full for the rest of the day. This isn't your traditional bacon / ham diner that serves 24 hour breakfast that has grease spilling off the plate. The food is as delicious as the menu suggests. My only complaint is that they don't have just plain bacon and eggs. I was informed that they would accommodate my provincial request, but I opted to allow my palate enjoy the moment. I'll have to run the next few days and bike everyday until my next meal here , as I think I over indulged.

Yelp
I came back to this place after coming here a few years ago. This place is located at the corner and has a wonderful patio that is great for the summer and is also heated for the winter time as well. I really appreciated that this place serves sparkling water and flat free of charge. The servers were really friendly. I have to say that pricing wise, it is your typical brunch spot where you will spend $15-$30 for lunch. I ordered the Duck Pancakes and the Eggs Benedict. PROS: - their homefries were AMAZING - eggs were aesthetically runny - corn bread was delicious - pancakes were thick - duck meat and blueberries were a strangely good combo - served sparkling free of charge CONS: - we sat there waiting for over 40 minutes waiting for our food, and saw a lot of other people got their food served first - one of us went to the washroom and noticed our order waiting (I'm assuming this was because one of our orders was messed up because our food was cold when we got it...) Would I go back? MAYBE, the food was good but, think coordination is needed and the food not being served to us warm was just brushed aside for the amount we spent... I would say that is not good especially with all the competition for brunch spots in Toronto...
