Bårstua guesthouses AS

We stayed in a triple room. The room was very nice with kitchenette. We could not cook big meals but still good for some light ones in order not to bother the alarm in the room. There were some utensils and plates and stuff in the room. Some more were in the hall that you're free to use. Clean and tidy.||The room was spacious enough even with a dining table. There were extra folded chairs for your convenience. The bed was a bit soft to me but I think the softness level is common in Norway.||Supermarket was a few minute walking away. The town was around 15 minutes walk (we have short legs). There were a mall, some supermarkets, Northern light cathedral in the town. We even walked to the Alta Museum. It took around an hour or so. ||Mrs. owner was very friendly and helpful during my booking and our stay. She gave us tips on where to get off the bus. She also helped in calling to ask for my delayed luggage and booking for a taxi. Taxi ride, by the way, was Kr129 for our trip from the Guesthouse to Alta airport. Took 2-3 minutes only.||The guesthouse was just like a hotel.

I ordered after reading the recommendations here on Tripadvisor, and they don't lie. This is a small guesthouse with good rooms, flatscreen TV, spacious bathroom and your own little kitchen with a dining table. It's about midway between the airport and the city centre. The owner is very helpful in helping out with recommendations on where to go and what to see. Wifi is free. It's not really a B&B since they don't serve breakfast, but the beds are very good. I think this is a place that gives you good value for your money.

We spent two weeks in this lovely place. It was super clean, with extremely comfortable beds that I did not want to leave in the mornings. ||The owner could not have been nicer and more helpful.||As we were often out at night the self-catering option was perfect for us. The kitchenette was small but really good to use and plenty of pots and tools were available. ||We loved the big bathroom with the underfloor heating!||Free and reliable WiFi was also brilliant to have.||It is conveniently located and only a few minutes drive (or walk) to the airport.||||We werfe probably a bit unlucky that the person above us had his alarm go off at 6.00 am and did not turn it off, so it went on and on for ages. Not so good if you only got to bed very late after a night out aurora watching. :) ||||We would definitely go back there but I would ask for an upstairs room.||||Great place, highly recommended.

We stayed 3 nights at Bårstua; it was warm, quiet, very clean, with private bathroom and kitchen with all the cooking facilities.||||We asked to the owner if he can pick up us at the airport when we arrived (at 11 p.m.) but he couldn't..anyway it was close to the airport, and we took a taxi (10 minutes, 12 € ca.).||It's close to Alta Sentrum (where you can find supermarkets and some places to eat); it is also not far from the Rock carvings (about 5 km: we went by foot following the cycle path...but there is also a bus that can take you there).||There are a lot of nice walks in Alta, most of wich near the guesthouse! (i.e. Komsa Toppen, from where you can see the beautiful Altafjorden)||||On the third day we had to return to the airport for pick up the car at the car rental, and we went by foot (30 min trough the wood).||||We definitely enjoyed Alta and our stay at Bårstua!

The rooms are beautiful, clean and all with a functional angle for cooking ENSUITE! It was very beautiful to wake up, make and have breakfast inside room in pigiamas, really relaxing. Bath ensuite works well, shower too. ||The owner is very friendly, she lives in the house near the Guesthouse, that is connected with a doorbell you will find inside entry, beautiful! So just ask, she call infact also a taxi for us. ||The location is very good. At 10min. walk for centre where you will found a postoffice, 2 banks, and a little shopping-centre where you found all. That's Alta :). There is at 5min. walk in opposite direction also a supermarket, very useful to know that. Around the beautiful landscape of mountain in combination with the sea. I go with my friend a couple of days ago, march, and was so wonderfully white, so peaceful and silent, nature speak to us.

I spent 7 nights with a friend at Baarstua last week, and I would highly recommend this establishment !||||Everything was perfect from the beginning to the end :||- very king owners who answer all of your questions and try to make your stay the most comfortable they can (help for booking etc)||- good location (walk 10min left you'll be in town, walk 20min right you'll be next to the sea, perfect spot to watch the northern lights)||- small kitchen very useful (with toaster, kettle,...)||- bathroom very clean and functional||- good beds (important for me because of my back)||- you can regulate the room's temperature by yourself||- towels, forks, knives, salt, mustard, tea,... are in the hall (you can use it when you need)||- TV (we never used it because there are so many better things to do ;)) and magazines||- passcode for the main door in the night so you feel safe||- and so many other good things !||||We felt like at home and it was really nice !||We saw the northern lights 6 nights from 7 (only 1 cloudy evening), so I could confirm that the location is perfect ! (we even saw the auroras from the guesthouse's door !)||One last thing : don't forget to walk up the Komsa hill, the view is wonderful from there !!||||Taxi from the airport is 120 NOK

The room is modern, clean and cozy. Is possible to get there by walking from the airport, and is possible to walk to the city center too.||The owner is a realy nice lady, who cares about offering a good experience in Alta.||I came here to see the northen lights and I was able to see it starting from my window! Fantastic!

This place is amazing, you have one big room with also a small fully furnished kitchen. The owner is very nice and she is always happy to help you. The best spot to visit Alta.
