The food is delicious and we had the tacos, guac and chips, tres leches and drinks. The berry pinacolada is spectacular though, and just thinking about it makes me want a pitcher of it😅 It’s refreshing and lightly sweetened yet bright with a great mix of flavours. Not to miss, the tres leches as well — easily one of the best I’ve had. Great service as well as ambience, though the day we visited — 4th July, the bathroom was a mess, which kind of degraded the experience. Would revisit for the food!

A decent spot for a casual dinner and a drink. The service model is nontraditional, you’ll fill out a card with your order or order through their website online at the table. We started with the guac and street corn— both pretty good! I got the chicken verde bowl and my partner got an assortment of tacos. Beware of the chilli markers for spicy dishes!! My partner loves spice and it was too much to handle. Overall, the food menu is underwhelming but the drinks are pretty great. If I go back, it would be for a drink and chips on the patio but there’s much better options in the Madison area, in my opinion.

This place is absolutely worth the hype, even with a few quirky and slightly awkward moments. The food is amazing—consistently flavorful, fresh, and satisfying every single time. I DoorDash from here all the time, and they never disappoint. One thing that’s always a little weird is how they card you after you order drinks. It’s awkward, honestly, and their out-of-order system has even led to drinks being taken away mid-order. You never really know what you’ll get until they finish checking your ID—it’s chaotic, but somehow part of the charm. The wait time is another mystery—it’s never quite accurate—but again, the food makes it worth the gamble. The manager is super nice, always helpful, and genuinely cares about customers, which really makes a difference. Favorites? The pomegranate drink is a must, perfectly refreshing, and the esquites are insanely good—creamy, flavorful, and addictive. Despite the quirks, this is one of those spots you keep coming back to. Bar Tacos are hands-down the best tacos I’ve found in Madison. The flavors are absolutely amazing—bold, fresh, and layered in a way that sets them apart. One standout is the subtle yet distinct hint of “coriander” in the tacos, which adds a unique twist you won’t find elsewhere. The ambience is vibrant and welcoming, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. That said, be prepared for a wait on weekends, it gets very busy. But trust me, the wait is worth it. If you’re in Madison, don’t miss Bar Tacos.

This place is pretty fantastic! The atmosphere is nice and on a lovely day there is outdoor seating if desired. Let’s get to the service— Jason N was nothing short of exceptional! There was a dietary restriction card that was immensely helpful! From suggestions to answering every question I had the service was fantastic. The food? Flavors blended so well and some unusual combinations just melded beautifully. The guac is creamy, not a “generic” recipe and did not disappoint. The cauliflower taco— fantastic! Verde salsa was a little hit for me but I’m sure for most would be perfect. Love the full round tortillas instead of chips! And let’s not forget the plantains… absolute win! Perfectly sweet, salty, and a little bit of heat— what?! Pure love. I would drive here to have a margarita and the plantains alone. Just try this place and it is not going to disappoint in my opinion. Great location as well.

We had Brett as our server and he was amazing!!!! He was super attentive and fulfilled our needs quickly!!! The food was absolutely delicious you can never go wrong with the Baja fish tacos. This is my girlfriend and Is favorite spot to eat when we can’t decide on something to eat. 10/10 no notes

This was my first time at this restaurant. We went during lunch time. My sister told me about this place and that I had to try the food there. We ordered guac and chips, street corn (you can decide how spicy you want it by adding the spice to it), warm buttered lobster taco, Baja fish taco, glazed pork belly taco, and seared chorizo. For the final touch, we all shared the key lime pie dessert. Everything was very delicious. I would go back there again. Per person or per female depending on how hungry you are, I would say three tacos with appetizers. Without appetizers then six tacos per female. The only down fall was the price since these tacos are very small. I would go back there again.

Bartaco has become one of our favorite restaurants, whether it's just my husband and me or the whole family. The food is fresh, hot, and comes fast. It scratches the itch for light Latin street food and they do a good job offering vegetarian choices, too. It's also nice to be able to stroll around Hilldale before or after a meal. Thumbs up!!
