We spent two nights at the Lodge and were very happy. Tony and Sonia were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the location was quiet. The room was small but adequate and the bathroom had a great shower and there was a nice outside breakfast eating area. We were scheduled for only one night but our plans changed when our friends arrived a day late and we were perfectly happy to stay another night. It's easy to navigate the subway from here and if we were to return to the city, we'd stay again.

I've not stayed in other hotels in Panama City so I can't fairly measure it against other standards.||||Check-in was slightly disappointing. May have just been a language barrier, but I arrived early from the airport and was told by the manger simply "your room isn't ready yet." No offer to wait in the garden, or of a place to change my clothes after my flight/transit, etc. No map so that I could find a restaurant. I left again and wandered around in my long pants in the heat until I found a restaurant where I could eat and cool off and wait.||||Good quiet location, quick walk to metro station. Sonia on the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Room was very large and comfortable (I was in room 9), if maybe showing some signs of wear and tear (bathroom sink was cracked). I like that the room had a mini fridge! A/C worked well. Room was clean, but bathroom could have used some extra attention to detail around the sink area. Toilet lid didn't stay up and toilet didn't flush very well (I reported it).||||Breakfast was decent and plentiful. Garden area is lovely.||||A solid choice!

This small and lovely place is an excellent choice for Panama City. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, there is a beautiful garden to relax and the staff is very helpful! The location is a bit outside of the old town, but a subway station is very close, so that you can get to the centre in a few minutes! The neighbourhood feels very safe and has some nice restaurants and bars...

We have just returned from a two week trip to Panama during which we used Baru Lodge as our base in Panama City as we explored different parts of the country. We stayed there three times, at the beginning and end of our trip and an overnight midway through. We were extremely pleased with the service Tony (the general manager) and Sonia provided. They set up a pickup at the airport for us ($35) and Tony drove us back to the airport when we left. Tony allowed us to leave some of our luggage there while we were off exploring Panama. Breakfasts are excellent- eggs, yogourt, fruit, toast, tea, coffee, juice- and Tony and Sonia were very accommodating our early departure time at the end of our trip, preparing breakfast for us before the usual 7:30 am start to breakfast.||Baru Lodge is in a quiet residential area where we felt safe at night. Across the street is Panaderia Noel, where you can satisfy your bakery cravings. If asking directions to Baru Lodge, we found few knew where it is, but people seemed to know the location of the bakery! There are also a number of restaurants within easy walking distance. ||Baru Lodge is about 200 m from Estacion Ferdinand de Cordoba, a stop on the Metro subway. The Metro is an excellent way to travel through the city, taking you directly to Albrook Mall where the main bus terminal is located, all for only $0.35.||We highly recommend Baru Lodge to anyone travelling to Panama City, and would definitely stay there again.

Located in a quiet residential area, with a fabulous bakery / deli a half block away and a huge grocery store only a ten minute walk. Our main floor room with 3 piece ensuite included, a fridge, tv, queen bed and dresser. The complimentary breakfast had the fresh basics offered in a quiet, clean eating area. All the above was very good but the bonus is the back yard. An treed oasis in the city. Very helpful staff, clean and well maintained, good location at a reasonable price.

I had a warm welcome by Mr Rudel. their rooms are comfortable and cleaned the a/c and the other electronic staff are brand newer. In my room we had a beautiful view of its garden. in other words is nice and comfortable. From Baru L you can reach an Bakery called Noel. You wont have to be worried where you can have your own breakfast and lunch.

Baru Lodge was perfect for us! It is in a semi-residential area but a mere 2 blocks from a major thoroughfare (Central Espana) and a short walk to the Metro. There are multiple places to eat nearby, and a panaderia a half-block away. The room was spacious, with a sizable bathroom with stone-and-tile shower, good AC, Frig, Cable, and great bed. Breakfast in the beautiful courtyard in back was more than I could eat - hardboiled eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, toast, meat and cheese, juice, and really good coffee. The running water features and landscaping in the courtyard are great for ambiance, but had (for me) the added benefit of sheltering a number of birds I could add to my list. The owner, Tony, is welcoming, eager to see to your needs, and goes the extra mile to be helpful. This does lean more to the B&B side than an upscale hotel, but it is attractive, immaculate, and I can't imagine what else we could have needed. Thumbs up for Baru!

We just stayed 1 night since we were passing through but this is a comfortable spot to stay. Although it is right in the city it is relatively quiet, the bed was fine and the breakfast out on the patio was good. Our host was very pleasant and helped us with our visit to the old town (fortunately her English was better than our Spanish). It is a short walk to the metro line which provides fast and easy access to the town and to some of the shopping malls (if you are so inclined0
