Sarajevo is such a beautiful city and its Central market square is a unison of cultures, religions and people from all over the world. It is lovely just to stroll among narrow streets, grab some coffee or food as well as do some local craft shopping.

Very nice, lots of people. Lots of shops, cafes. Everywhere is full of people. The streets are beautiful and the food is very delicious. This is a great place to learn about the culture, buy a unique souvenir and drink real Turkish coffee. The hospitality of the people is amazing.

A place always crowded, not much flexibility because of the traffic but a must visit in Sarajevo. There are so many shops around with any kind of products, from fruits to jewelry, watch out for the prices. While the place is very touristic you need to double check that the same products are sold at the same prices.

spent a month in Sarajevo in April 1984, shortly after the Olympics. It was nice to be here again after more than 41 years. My wife and I took two days to see the sights and we walked around Baščaršija many times, ate here, and I kept reminiscing about what it was like here four decades ago. I remember the coppersmiths and their wonderful products. There were many real cafes here with coffee from a jug. And I miss it. Where has all this gone? This progress is sad.

This charming old city is perfect for slow exploration and enjoyment over several days. I spent all three of my evenings wandering its atmospheric streets, surrounded by countless restaurants, cozy cafés, souvenir shops, and much more. There’s always something new to discover in every corner.

Baščaršija is home to many beautiful and historic spots, but it’s usually packed with people, and most eateries are heavily overpriced. There are plenty of small drinking fountains scattered around, but what stood out to me — and not in a good way — is the lack of proper maintenance. It seems the garbage disposal services don’t clean regularly, as most trash bins are too small and often overflowing.

Beautiful place with loads of shops and restaurants to eat. Shop owners and restaurant team are really nice, quite a few things to get and so many options to eat. A mosque and water fountain to fill your water bottles.

This is a vibrant open-air bazaar packed with cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, antiquities, and more. As expected, the bazaar is crowded with tourists as well as locals, either having a good meal at the restaurants or buying souvenirs and requirements, or having coffee at the cafes, or just relaxing at the common area to pass time and just enjoy the day with friends and family members. The tiled and cobble-stoned pathways and alleys give a rustic middle age outlook to the area. Our group arrived here for lunch, souvenirs hunting as well as prayer at the famous Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque. A good experience to be here. Alhamdulillah.
