Basecamp Andermatt

Excellent clean and outdoorsy-oriented ski in- ski out accommodations with great views overlooking the town. As others noted, be prepared to ski or hike your luggage from the train or bus station or nearest parking spot. Lars and his family were very welcoming and friendly.

Staying at Basecamp was an amazing experience. Larz (owner) and his family were an incredible host and provided everything I needed to ski after my bag was lost by the airlines. The Basecamp is right on the ski slope, it is a true ski in, ski out hostel. I thoroughly enjoy my stay and can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend staying here.

Wonderfully quirky Hostel on the piste. Hosts were very friendly and helpful, Sauna was amazing, facilities are perfect. Not suitable for this who are not mobile as you have to walk up the piste to get to the Hostel or return from the town. I injured myself while staying there and Lars could not have been more helpful, providing medication, massage gun and switching on the sauna for me.

Wonderful ski in ski out lodge. Clean, comfortable and in a fantastic location. The host family are very friendly and give excellent advice about the town, the skiiing or any other questions you may have. Met some great people here and had a fantastic time. The kitchen is large and well equipped making it easy to cook your own meals and the sauna is amazing after a long day of skiing. Really can't recommend this place enough for a ski vacation.

Had a fun comfortable stay with Lars, Maarje and family. Perfect place to enjoy a snowy ski season in Andermatt if you don’t mind hiking or skiing to your accommodations.

Basecamp is an awesome building perched above town on the ski slopes of Andermatt.|This place has loads of mountain charm including a wood stove, sauna, hot tub, and a workshop downstairs where you can tune your gear. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Clean bathrooms, two hot showers. The kitchen is open to all guests and includes all the amenities you would expect in a hostel style setting. Lars and his wife, Maartje, were the perfect hosts, full of great advice and local stories. This is the best place to stay in Andermatt if you dig the hostel setting, and we will be back.

Doesn’t feel like a hostel but rather a 4 star accomodation. Only downside is that access is only by a 200m walk up the slope (no stairs) which is challenging if you do not have the shoes or desire. Ski in ski out isn’t that beneficial because there are only gondolas at the bottom which negates the benefit of the ski in ski out. Really great service too. Cats and dog roam around which is adorable. Very warm inside. For the price it is incredible.

Basecamp was incredible! Lars was awesome and super friendly, perfect location, and super clean kitchen and bathrooms. Super quick access to the town and the gondola! This was by far the best hostel I have ever stayed in, could not have asked for anything better. The room was super clean and very spacious. Comfortable bed and clean sheets.

Great place for mountaineers. Basic Accommodation in a clean and modern lodge and hostel. Shared rooms, but you can also book double rooms. Big kitchen for selfcatering, free WiFi, nice lobby and diningroom with a fireplace. The best thing was the panorama sauna after freezing in the mountains. Beware, the lodge is not reachable with car. You must hike the last 200 meters by foot, bike or ski. Good value for your money and worth to visit again.
