Basecamp Lodge Canmore

The room was clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. The only service is via the online communication. There is no check-in before 4:00 p.m. unlike at many other facilities. It would have been nice to have decaf coffee in the room or some sort of decaffeinated tea. Overall it suited our needs for an overnight stay.

We enjoyed staying here and the price is right, especially for Canmore. There are a few things I’d change, including increased privacy for the main floor rooms as we felt we had to keep the blinds closed so people in the parking lot couldn’t see into our room. There also was an issue with shower water pressure and I had to skip washing my hair (I don’t remember this being the case when we stayed in 2023). I did bring this up with the main desk and they said they’d send someone to look at it, but I’m not sure if that happened. If we return I likely will try and book a room on a higher floor. The staff were great and the upstairs common area was well stocked and comfortable. We unfortunately didn’t have a chance to check out the sauna but maybe next time! We enjoyed eating at the nearby Rocky Mountain Bagels and The Georgetown Inn for breakfast. It was cold during our stay so we opted to drive otherwise but parking was always easy to find! Otherwise it would have only been about a ~14 minute walk to downtown.

What is the point of advance self check-in if you still have to enter through the lobby to access your room? There are no signs directing you to your unit from the parking lot. The only signage present lists unit numbers for the nearby resort, which is owned by the same company and uses the exact same unit numbers and nearly identical exterior paint. This makes it extremely confusing to know which building you are supposed to go to. I initially went to the wrong building and only realized the mistake when the provided keycode didn’t work. I then had to walk all the way to the main entrance to ask the front desk to locate my room—completely defeating the purpose of “self check-in.” Guests are also expected to return to their car to place a parking permit after check-in. In freezing weather, this is very inconvenient. Why not track parking by license plate instead? To make matters worse, the rear door is exit-only and cannot be used to re-enter the building. While rooms use smart keycodes, the exterior doors have no keypad or access control, forcing guests to walk back to the main entrance in the cold. Either install proper access or don’t advertise a “smart” check-in system—this feels unfinished. Overall, the mandatory online check-in created more friction, not less. I won’t be staying here again and can’t recommend this property. I’ll be avoiding places with required online check-in going forward. Lastly they are next to he railroad tracks w trains rummaging through even past 9pm. If you are sensitive to noise, you have been warned! It is very audible from your room.

Stay was good. Thinner pillows would be a plus. The parking is hard to navigate as one night we had to park next door in the loading zone cause there was no parking. Also it is very tight to try to get around the building as it's super tight. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

Visited Canmore just for the night with my Fiancé. We chose Basecamp Lodge for the incredible value. Staff were friendly and accommodating, let us check in an hour early. Room was large and very very clean. Beds are comfortable and came with an amazing mountain view. Can’t believe the quality of experience for a fantastic price. Located close to the town centre and has everything in walking distance. We will be coming back for sure. Thanks for having us!

Nice hotel, well-situated. It matches the pictures very well. It was comfortable and cozy. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful, and they held my luggage for me as I arrived in town several hours before checkin. The coffee station is a nice touch and I made good use of the sauna which was lovely. Thanks for a great stay.

Great, cozy hotel. The check in process was seamless as they send you door code ahead of time. Room was clean and the vibe was really nice. Toiletries are Rocky mountain so they smell amazing. Sauna was never busy when I was here. Stayed week of Oct 20th. Parking smooth and easy.

Base Camp Lodge was a lovely place to stay with beautiful mountain views. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a micro suite that included a full kitchen and a king size bed. Everything was comfortable and well thought out. The property also has a relaxing sauna and a cozy public space that is perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. We were only here for two nights before heading on, but if you plan to stay longer, a larger room might be a better fit. Overall, a wonderful stay and we would definitely return.

Not sure why this spot has 1 star review. I stayed here twice already, once in 2022 and then a couple weeks ago. I love how affordable this is and the location. We stayed here because it was slightly cheaper than staying at downtown Banff, despite the extra 20 min drive to this town. Canmore is an awesome small town that has beautiful views, decent food, and great location 20 min south of Banff. We got a 1 king bedroom that was a decent size. We checked in at the front desk with no issues. There is no door key but you get a code to unlock the door. The room was clean and had all the basic necessities that we need. Parking is free, but it does get packed. We would come back from our morning/day trips and just park our car before dinner, then walk to nearby restaurants. There's a Blake's across the street, Grande restaurant a couple blocks away, and an awesome Thai spot that I recommend a few blocks away. Downtown is about 10-15minute walk. The pretty walking trail is only 10 minutes walk. This lodge doesn't have a gym or pool, but there is a dry sauna. For the price point, totally worth staying here! There is complimentary breakfast which was nice, but not much options. Just fruit, bread, or muffin, along with coffee and juice. We just grab a couple items in the morning as snack for the day. Tim Horton's is a few min drive, and this lodge is close to the highway.
