Basecamp Oulanka

Oulanka is in the Finnish Wilderness and it feels like it. A walk from nearest village feels like a remote location. However. Beautifully situated above the lake with easy access to trails. Good food and rooms. Friendly and welcoming staff. Thank-you

I was here for a week and it was an incredible experience. It’s a beautiful lodge in the most peaceful location. The staff was so friendly and did everything to ensure I was happy and comfortable. They provide you with any and all equipment you need for a wide variety of activities, and it is all well maintained. The food was incredible. I will definitely come back again!!

One of the best places to stay in the kuusamo region. Right along the way of the karhunkieros trail and pieni karhunkieros. With excellent food. Rafting in the summer time is amazing with amazing guides

Nice place to stay. Very friendly people. Simple but good rooms. Very nice living room to have breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. You can reserve sauna and hot tub if you want.

This was a beautiful setting to stay for a week. The cabin was really cosy and the heated flooring was nice. |It was an incredible place and you can ask them to knock and wake you if they see the northern lights, which is a really nice touch. |The food was incredible and the staff really friendly. |It was a really great base to enjoy the National park.

A true Basecamp experience. Beautiful located (quiet and 400m from the Myllykoski rapids). Dogs welcome. Clean. No WiFi, TV or radio. Breakfast and dinner are okay and basic but provide what you need. You have to be quick though because they might run out. Other minor detail was that the experienced staff did not arrive until 11-12AM, which is not convenient for hikers who want to rent materials or have questions. Would be a plus if guests would be informed about that in advance. I recently visited (early March), so it might be the season. Anyway it's good to check in advance. Other little detail was that the curtains of the room didn't fully cover the window! All in all it was a magical place and I definitely recommend staying! Staff itself is very helpful and service minded.

Beautiful place gorgeous natural wooden rooms. Smelled like pine tress and cedar-in nature without mosquitos eating you alive while you sleep. Sauna was included and it was awesome! Breakfast was modest but ok. We tried the restaurant for a vegetarian lunch and was underwhelmed.....but up to the normal Finnish taste or lack thereof. You may want to bring your own shower gel and shampoo....no electric kettle no tv, but although no Wifi in the room, there is luckily Wifi in the main building-restaurant where you can access it for free!
