This is such a great hotel! We loved the location and the staff went out of there way to help us with anything we need. The rooms are nice but not fancy. Our family had four rooms and we were able to gather around the fire pits or hang out at the brewery as group which made it really nice. I loved the live music and s'mores the best. Can't wait to go back in the summer.

Nice hotel in an ultimate prime location. Pick a sport or an activity and it's all here. Skiing, boating, biking, hiking, back country, concerts, casinos, restaurants, shopping. Its all here. Its an older motel that has been nicely remodeled. I had to come down to 4 stars because they could use a little more upkeep and maintenance. But not bad at all. The need was comfortable, rooms clean and plenty of hot water.

Booked a last minute pre thanksgiving vacation with our family inclusive of one teenager and one husky. We had a blast at Base Camp. Very affordable and centrally located- walk to everything- Heavenly shops, the lake, the casinos, the Gondola. We booked a first floor double full room which was cozy with nice bath products and a fridge and microwave and a mini cooler. Great onsite bar with limited food menus. Loved the onsite breakfast and coffee for purchase in lobby. Great community spaces and people were friendly and welcoming- lots of dogs which are great conversation starters. The staff at the front were very helpful. Great recommendations on hikes and had a tennis ball for our dog. Will be back.

Basecamp Tahoe is a renovated motel, so it’s a step above basic but still shows its age. Rooms were a bit dated with a musty smell. The fan was noisy, and the room was super hot—even with the heater off. Thankfully, there’s AC, which helped.||The location is a big plus—within walking distance to the Heavenly Gondola, so you can get to the resort and ski without driving.||The lobby and shared spaces were the highlight—cozy and well-designed. The coffee shop had amazing tamales (not a regular thing, unfortunately).||Parking was fine, and overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re okay with some quirks.

If you don't want to risk not being able to sleep, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. We stayed 2 nights and each night was a nightmare to be able to sleep comfortably, at least if you get a room on the 1st floor. You can hear EVERY little thing outside your room, the conversations of the people in the room above, and every time they walked around or flushed the toilet. The space heater in the room is also incredibly noisy. Lastly, the water heater of our room was also terrible. It could not regulate temperature properly - it was either boiling or freezing, so showering was a nightmare as well. On a positive note, staff is nice and location is very convenient. There is an onsite coffee shop and brewery. The coffee was good but the food was just okay, not particularly great. Unfortunately the brewery was closed during the weekend we stayed so we were unable to try it.

Google
The location was convenient, with easy access to the Heavenly Gondola and South Shore shops. The room was small but clean. However, the closet was cramped, and its opening was blocked by a large fan. There were no dresser drawers, which made it difficult to store clothing. A hot water kettle was provided for pour-over coffee, but no tea or hot chocolate were available in the room or office. Additionally, the kettle wasn’t plugged in due to limited outlets on the provided power strip, so I had to unplug either the TV or the DirectTV cable box to brew my coffee. There was no designated space to store skis in the room. The jacuzzi near the bar was a nice touch, but it was accessible to anyone, as there was no key card required and the door could easily be unhooked. The rooftop jacuzzi was not operational during my stay. On a positive note, the breakfast in the main lobby was delicious and reasonably priced.

- Think outdoors - not luxury accommodation|- The rooms are basic but the beds are very comfortable|- They have a Brewery onsite that operates after 4pm and a coffee shop in the main office that operates from 7am - 2pm daily.|- The Brewery only has a limited food range|- The Coffee shop has a good food range|- You can collect free Smores kits from Reception|- Front Desk was extremely helpful with hints and tips|- Be aware - there is no elevator! You will need to take bags up 1 - 3 flights of stairs|- The bus from Reno Airport drops you off at Harley's which is just across the road|- Heavenly - the little ski village - is about a 10 min walk - very pleasant|- The main road - between Harley's and Basecamp is the actual border between California and Nevada|Lots of restaurants nearby - but will get crowded during winter season|Heavenly has a ski lift to the top of the mountain as well as a skating rink in the village

Fun place to stay in South Lake Tahoe! We stayed in a King Balcony room, 225 on the 2nd floor overlooking the parking lot and lobby deck. The room was very spacious and had all the necessary amenities. Loved the scents of the shower products. Very much enjoyed sitting on our balcony. The brewery area of the property is super fun. Loved that they had live music and a fire pit, cornhole, delicious food and tasty beer options. Parking is convenient too. Walking distance to a really nice private beach. Would absolutely stay here again!

Cindy S.

Yelp
We asked for an early check in and we were able to be accommodated. The staff were friendly, warm and inviting. The room was adorable, comfortable, spacious and worked well for our long weekend needs. They do have a small public coffee house in lobby as well as a brewery in the courtyard of the hotel. Everything was great. The only complaint i have is, a Saturday night at a hotel is busy anyways, with guests. Having a brewery that is quite loved as well, makes for a parking fiasco. We inquired at the desk about where to park and was told we could take the handicap spot until something opened up. There is limited street parking surrounding the hotel and it abuts another hotel so we couldn't park there. 20 mins and one finally opened up. Parking aside, i would stay here again. The rooms, the staff, the ambiance absolutely made it a perfect place to stay! (PS the bathrooms aren't heated )

Jennifer L.

Yelp
We picked this hotel for the location and the price wasn't insanely expensive, still though we could have paid the same and stayed at the Marriott. Which we may do next time. We got a family room as we have five people in our family. This room boasts that it sleeps six but that would be extremely tight. The rooms are very small. So if you're gone all day and only sleep here then you'll be fine. If you're have young kids though and do any kind of time in the hotel room it is not ideal. The room was "well worn". The furniture is pretty banged up and there isn't a dresser. The outlets were not screwed into the wall all the way which we noticed becasue of plugging in the hair dryer and our phone chargers. The fridge was wobbly so opening and closing it was a pain in the butt. Same with the microwave and even though the room boasts accommodation for 6 people there were only four towels, so we ended up having to get more towels right away. The toilet was clogged from the get go. So before we got here it must have been clogged. We let the front desk know and they told us we could come get a plunger and take care of it ourselves.... So my wife went down there and they didn't have a plunger. So she came back, we were on the third floor. Then about ten minutes later they found a plunger so we went back down and got it. It's interesting that they don't have a maintenance person to do this stuff... Then later after we fixed it and returned the plunger to the front desk the storage closet next to our room was unlocked and there was a plunger in there the whole time! The hot tub that's over the front office is nice and private and has a decent view of Heavenly. But it is dirty, the water had gross stuff floating in it and the hot tub is old and looks to be in disrepair. The larger hot tub that's near the beer area is nice if it's not full! lol which it was most of the time. The fire pits by the front desk were on pretty much all the time so that was fun. My kids loved that. We didn't visit the little cafe thsts in the front desk area but it seemed pretty popular. Parking here is very tight but doable. The rooms do have shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a hair dryer so that's helpful. The fridge does work so it wasn't the worst experience we have had! The staff are generally friendly which is also nice.

Yelp
My wife and I have stayed at Basecamp South Lake Tahoe before, but this was undoubtedly the worst experience we've ever had there. The only reason it's even getting 2 stars is because they refunded us for one of the nights--a bare minimum gesture that doesn't erase the issues we faced. The Food: Let's start here because it was shockingly bad. The Nutella toast was a joke--barely any Nutella, making it a sad, overpriced piece of bread. The egg and cheese sandwich was a think layer of egg in between and English muffin and the cheese was barely noticeable. The coffee? Undrinkable, tasting more like water than actual coffee. And their "Tahoe Blue" drink, which is supposed to feature blue spirulina, wasn't even made correctly. If they can't prepare it right, they might as well remove it from the menu entirely. The Room: Where do I begin? The room reeked of mold--an overpowering, unpleasant smell that lingered throughout our stay. It was freezing, thanks to a broken heater fan. While they did provide an extra space heater, it barely made a dent in the cold. Did I mention the room smelled like mold? Because it's worth repeating. On top of that, the noise from the pub in the courtyard was unbearable, like trying to sleep in the middle of a nightclub. in addition a car alarm right outside our window was going off for about 25 minutes at midnight, walking not just my wife and I but my daughter up as well. The bed was uncomfortably hard--so much so that even after an exhausting day on the slopes, it felt impossible to get a decent night's sleep. And the shower? A complete disaster, with pitiful water pressure that made the experience frustrating at best. When I requested extra towels, they handed us small, rough pool towels--an absurd substitute for actual bath towels. Overall Quality: This hotel used to be a favorite of ours, but it's clear the standards have plummeted over the years. The food is subpar, the accommodations are poorly maintained, and the overall experience is not worth the price. For what we paid, we could have stayed at a Marriott or booked a far superior Airbnb. This stay was deeply disappointing, and I can't see myself recommending Basecamp to anyone in its current state.

Annette H.

Yelp
We got a room here and asked for NO stairs... We're given stairs. Was just released from hospital, 88 years old. They put people with little kids above us who were running around banging constantly and making all kinds of noise. Very disappointed by this.

Amy N.

Yelp
The location was great, easy to get to many places walking. Parking easy. We were on the first floor and the people above us were quite loud but with our TV on we eventually fell asleep. The bed was comfortable and pillows were good. The shower was small and we are not big people. All in all it was fine for one night which is what we needed it for. The horchata coffee at their coffee shop was great!

Britnie M.

Yelp
This place was super cute. We ate brussel sprouts and had a drink. They have non alcoholic and alcoholic choices. We accidentally went during a wedding but they let us set upstairs. We didn't stay at the hotel, just dropped by for snacks.

Bobbi S.

Yelp
Good location, decent room (bed was comfortable and clean), property is aged and shows lots of deferred maintenance but the brewery is a nice amenity and large jacuzzi was enjoyable 3 of 5 nights. Jacuzzi - One group of 12-14, kids screaming, adults smoking weed, glass beer bottles and incredibly loud and massive personal speaker. The jacuzzi is a crash pad for locals...we witnessed 2 groups, 2 nights openly discuss being local, OK but at least be respectful to guests! Alexia at front desk was great, so was the younger guy with the Romanian accent but the beanie wearing, longer hair "dude" was a complete joke on so many levels - inept at doing the most basics of his Job. No towels ever in the jacuzzi area and no mention you need to bring bath towels from your room. No cleaning service for 5 nights. No ice machine for guests. You get a room, parking , and then fend for yourself! You don't need to stay here to enjoy the brewery and fire pit, so save yourself from a mediocre experience and stay in one of the better options nearby.

Kimberly N.

Yelp
My husband and I really loved our experience staying at Basecamp. It has the same feel as a place we loved in Bend, OR -- a motel that feels like a cozy, rustic camping experience except you have a clean room to go to with a comfy bed! They have a welcoming lobby with a place to get coffee and a quick breakfast, a couple hot tubs, and a great brewery with live music! It's located directly across from the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys. This worked out perfectly for us as we had concert tickets and only had to walk across the street to get back to our room afterward. We were lucky - it was a hot weekend and they were in the process of adding A/C to some of the rooms -we had it in ours! The person checking us in was kind and helpful. We had fewer towels than expected so they made sure to get some for us right away. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Brooke W.

Yelp
First time staying at this hotel. Knew someone who got married in Tahoe and stayed here so thought it couldn't be all that bad. Check in was easy and we were told they have a complimentary coffee bar in the morning. Room was very small and couldn't have been more basic. Shower was terrible, the head doesn't move and just sprays right at the door you go in. Bed was decent. You can really hear neighbors. 3 stars because it was a fine place to sleep but wouldn't stay again unfortunately.

Sam V.

Yelp
I will give it 4 bc we like the vibes. Being able to sit outside by a fire pit or inside. Cool little spot. Has live music sometimes. Their prices are too high for the food quality though. Decent beer and wine selection. Dogs are allowed so that's a big plus. Bathrooms are clean. More than one so that's nice. Also they made my food wrong. Asked for my sando to have no pesto but still came with pesto. Still had a good time tho. We like coming here for drinks.

Katherine K.

Yelp
Room prices are very reasonable especially for where it's located. Right next to the Harvey's hotel and just a quick 3 min walk to all the shops and restaurants. Hotel is clean, beds, baths and carpets are pretty decent; it could use a quick shampoo cleaning soon. Ample amount of parking. Family and dog friendly. Just one thing that I will have to note, especially for those that are light sleepers, walls are very thin. I'm not sure what some folks were doing at 3:45am but noise is what I kept hearing for about 5-10 min straight. Not sure if it was machinery or some type of vehicle but that woke me up. Sounded like it was coming from right below our room which is right above the car port. Make sure to get a room that is not above their parking structure. Also, since the walls are thin you also can hear people talking and walking down the hallways and in the rooms next door and above you. So if you can get past that this place is not that bad. Luckily, my family can sleep through anything so didn't effect us too much.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
We enjoyed the selection and service here. It's a laid back atmosphere with ping pong and corn hole available. Everyone was relaxed and there were happy dogs enjoying the evening. Parking isn't the easiest depending on the time of day. The night we went they had trivia going.

Dani D.

Yelp
This was THE place we wanted to stay with I. South Lake. Basecamp is an old motel that they fixed up and added life back to. Parking is first come first serve- which made me nervous but there is more parking than you first think. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a double queen room and noticed the air conditioner was broke. The front desk found another room for us and let us move. There is a cute coffee/cafe place on the lobby as well. The hotel also has a GREAT brewery for fun nights and a happy hour from 4-6.

Gabbi H.

Yelp
First of all, great place to stay at a central location that's not a casino. You can walk to everything and there is plenty of parking. It's a really cute hipster hotel. The rooms are basic, but nicely decorated with an outdoorsy energy. The staff is super friendly. I love the little touches like the ability to make smores around a fire on the patio. The downside of our room placement was it was RIGHT next to the on-site brewery and restaurant which had live outdoor music going until 10:30ish. So, if you're an early to bed kind of person like me, be sure to ask for a room elsewhere. It was way too loud to sleep. But we enjoyed snuggling up and watching a movie. Overall would stay again!

Christi K.

Yelp
Love love love this place! Beers are solid, the live music is fun and the atmosphere is super cute! Yes it's pricey for pizza, but it's definitely one of our go tos in Lake Tahoe!

Jacquelyn D.

Yelp
Nice service good people fun place to stay and to visit. We have stayed here before and it doesn't disappoint.

Conner M.

Yelp
Ordered three different drinks. All tasted like trash. Service was your typical Tahoe skier attitude. I will say, when we closed out the guy was much better. Chick at the bar initially was the issue. Don't recommend. Outdoor area could be nice, but they just put down a bunch of bark

Damaris F.

Yelp
We came to check out the beer and outdoor vibe they had. Maybe we came on an off day, but the beer was ok and the vibe was too. Better spots to visit in the village. Definitely want to give them another try though.

Dawn Marie C.

Yelp
Stayed for one night. We stayed in the family room, phone was broken, not enough towels, one chair on the patio with 5 people in the room. Called the front desk and asked for another phone nobody ever brought one. Coffee bar at 740 (opened at 7) ran out of espresso and the girl at the counter was RUDE. When we asked the staff what they were cooking on one of the patios the snapped at us and said tacos like we were bothering them. Gate for the pool was tied shut. Every staff we encountered was rude and acted like we were bothering them. We won't be staying here again.

Aimee S.

Yelp
The breakfast was good, even though you had to pay. The service was great, the employees were so kind. The only bad part was the fan in the hotel room, it was annoying, but overall great.

Dulce G.

Yelp
Stayed one night with my husband, we love trying new places and we were impressed and will definitely be coming back. The room was very clean and felt cozy. The restaurant on property was a little brewery that had great beer and tasty food. They also had live music which was really good. Staff was friendly and our overall stay was great! We went out for the night and majority of restaurants, bars and casinos were within walking it was so nice because it saved us money on Uber rides.

Dave D.

Yelp
Great stay during celebrity golf. Staff were super helpful. Communicated via text m, responsive and very nice. Location was perfect. Rooms were good. The AC unit kept room very comfortable and it was 90deg that day! Definitely will stay here again if you want to in town without dealing with casino lodging.

Paul C.

Yelp
If you're staying in Southlake and you're near Stateline and want a relaxing and laid-back experience then Base Camp is a great choice. Very good selection of beers,, decent menu with a few good options. But the best part are the fire pits and live music. It's snowy right now, so the you had to go down paths through the deep snow to get to the fire. The fire pit was surrounded by a wall of snow. Fun people, great times, wear a jacket! The music was inside 70s rock hits on a six string. It was fun to listen to.

Jonah M.

Yelp
This place was very cool. I had no issues, but it is a no frills kind of hotel. Nothing super fancy but a perfect place to use as your "Base Camp" while you are going on lake adventures and mountain visits. We visited in the summer so we did not come up for skiing during this trip. They have a brewery attached where they do live music and fun "Camp Vibes." If you are okay with a simple stay with everything you need this is the perfect place and at the price point, it's a great place to stay!

Cyn C.

Yelp
I stayed here back in Nov 2021 and it was in a very central location at the base of Heavenly. I stayed on the second floor and the room was clean and they have a cute fireplace that keeps you warm at night, super cozy! We took the opportunity to use the jacuzzi on the ground floor because the one on the second floor closer to us was temporarily shut down. I wish it was open so we didn't have to walk across the parking lot in the frigid cold but it was okay. They have a brewery on-site as well and a game area for parties to play.

Sydney H.

Yelp
Incredible hotel and amenities! Such a fun vibe for South Lake Tahoe! Maddie at the front desk also takes amazing care of you. Would stay here again!

Tanya J.

Yelp
Finally we were able to eat here - tried a few times but the wait on a busy Saturday night was 2 hours - yikes. We ate light with just a small veggie pizza and the pear gorgonzola salad. Both were delicious and we were impressed at how fast the food came out considering the place was packed to the gills. The front check in desk staff was really nice - super impressed how friendly these ladies were - again given how hectic it was and rowdy kids. Our server Erika R. was awesome. She checked on us promptly after we were seated. Brought waters and was able to take our order right away. She was attentive enough to make sure we had what we needed but didn't pester at all. We also appreciated her cheerful and friendly style. We had some fun banter about how many pizzas you all cranked out a night . If we eat here again we would absolutely request to sit at one of her assigned tables. You have some great hires who clearly know how to work well under pressure. Well done Bascecamp SLT!

Yelp
**Hotel Review: Excellent Location, Disappointing Stay** I recently stayed at this hotel and had high hopes due to its excellent location. The hotel is conveniently situated in the heart of the city, within walking distance to many major attractions, restaurants, and shopping areas. The ease of access to public transportation was a huge plus, making it an ideal spot for both tourists and business travelers. However, my overall experience was significantly marred by the lack of air conditioning in the room. Despite the favorable location, the room became unbearably hot and stuffy, especially during the warm evenings. Opening the windows provided little relief and only added to the noise level, disrupting sleep. The absence of air conditioning really impacted the comfort of the stay. It's unfortunate that such a fundamental amenity was missing, as it overshadowed the many positives the hotel has to offer. Until this issue is addressed, I cannot recommend staying here during the warmer months.

Chris K.

Yelp
No parking. Literally you have to park a few blocks away despite what the employees tell you. You will get multiple parking tickets if you park where they say to. Room wasn't what we booked due to them overbooking. Bathroom was nasty. Do yourself a favor and stay at Marriott it's close to the same price.

Lisa N Jim W.

Yelp
My wife and I have stayed here just about every month during this year. Base Camp is close to State line, restuarants, and casinos. The rooms are clean and neat. The staff and Manager Cameron are great and they are like family. If you don't want to walk around there is a great Brewery with food and music right at Base Camp. Also, the lake is only two blocks away. To Base Camp crew, we hope to see you soon.

Jules S.

Yelp
Worst pizza my partner and I have ever had. Wow- one bite and we were beyond disappointed. The crust tasted like it was store bought premade, and we could barely make out a few crumbles of sausage somewhere. What an absolute waste of money !

Jena C.

Yelp
Super bummed... this used to be one of our favorite little hotels to visit and it has drastically gone downhill. It truly feels like no one cares around the hotel grounds. The room was dirty and unorganized... all little things that added up. Walls in bathroom had in splatters of makeup and dirt. Beds were clean but the bedskirts were hanging half off, carpets look like they haven't been cleaned in years. Lamp in room leaning over with a broken shade. Pictures on wall all crooked. Patio doors dirty and smudged. Half of all the fire pits around the grounds didn't work. Stairwells and hallways all had trash scattered around the floor. But the worst part was the fake nails stuck to the headboard. Also so sad they took away the free drip coffee in the lobby. We didn't meet a friendly worker our entire trip. So so bummed. This is a 180 from the hotel we used to love and visit frequently. Save your money and find another spot if any of these things matter to you. If you just need a bed to sleep in, well then I guess this place will work for you.

Navreet G.

Yelp
I LOVE this place!! My boyfriend and I went last weekend and wow I can truly say this is hands down the BEST pizza I've ever had. I came here once in 2017 and the quality was exactly the same as I had remembered! The crust of the pizza isn't thin & the toppings don't fall off which I love! As for the flavor... wow all I have to say is you gotta try this place to be able to describe how good the pizza is! Definitely a stop for every trip to Lake Tahoe from here on out! The ranch also is great, not runny at all, you can tell it's house made! We came on a Saturday afternoon and got seated within 20 minutes. I will say this place is packed always but hey that just goes to show how good it is! Can't wait to come back and try new items, maybe the pasta next time?

David H.

Yelp
If you enjoy staying in a room with no AC, smell of bleach, drunk loud college kids, and terrible customer service (Stephanie was a rockstar and the only person we dealt with who was very helpful) then this is your place. The two guys we spoke with over the phone really need to work on their customer service skills. Seriously don't be fooled by the branding or photos. Do yourself a favor and find a new spot, and the pizza place is definitely decent but wouldn't say "the best" - would not recommend this hotel to anyone I cared about.

Melyna S.

Yelp
Cute place. Great location! We just stayed the night and walked down to the beach for an early dinner then walked up to the main street and walked around the neighborhood. The room is small and simple, but it was all we needed. We liked that they had a coffee place in their lobby and that you could even pre-order the night before, which we did and then went to pick up. Check in was easy and the girl was nice. I appreciated the text communication option too!

C B.

Yelp
I LOVED this place and this will be my go to spot when I go to Tahoe . Not only is it a block from the strip where the casinos, restaurants and shops are , this hotel is the EXPERIENCE, not just the stay . I will add pics, but the grounds are made to look like camp . There's a brewery that looks over this large area with picnic tables, live music , fire pits, ping pong , cornhole . There are 2 hot tubs . One with a great view of mountains and casino . The staff was great . Matt and jenilee were very nice! The rooms were cute and comfy , and also quiet . They have a small cafe on site . Where you can purchase some yummy ! Inexpensive breakfast! They have coffee and fresh pressed juices that are awesome ( the royal was the favorite) .. This is definitely the summer spot .

Julieann M.

Yelp
Such a fun place to stay! We loved all the creativity that went into this place and it's nice to be off the main drag but still close to all the action and a few blocks from the beach!

Amanda M.

Yelp
The employees hate it here, it's obvious. The beers weren't good and the employees made side comments about us the whole time. You can tell that they hate life.

Candace L.

Yelp
I hadn't even been home 9 hours and was already recommending Basecamp to people. This place met my needs and I'd definitely stay here again. Service was great, coffee and food on site, the beer garden was fun. I enjoyed their Into the Pines IPA, played a little cornhole and liked the live music. Our room was great. It was on the first floor but you can hear every single step from the room above which was not ideal, luckily getting up early wasn't a real issue for me but it surely was a surprise just how loud it seemed. I did purchase the Smores pack but by the time we were back from dinner the fire pits were off, so that was a bummer. Parking was fine and this place seemed close enough to other things in this area we'd be doing. I liked that you can text them for anything you need, super quick and responsive when I asked for a late check out since I was out hiking. The neighborhood is also nice, for taking short walks throughout the day. I really enjoyed strolling around here, off of the main strip very touristy area. For a no real frills type casual stay this place is perfect. I wouldn't go as far as necessarily trying to romance a person here, it's a fun sort of summer camp vibe place that's perfect for casual fun but everything was nice and I felt completely comfy here. We paid 3.5x the normal price per night since it was a holiday weekend but it is what it is. We wanted to be in Tahoe so that's how most any accommodations would have been. I liked the place and was very happy with the stay.

D.j. R.

Yelp
Great vibes, and actually really good beer. Very surprising for it being inside the hotel. Food also seemed very good. Definitely will be stopping by next time.

kayla b.

Yelp
This place was so disappointing, in so many ways. There was a dead moth on the blinds which would've been noticed during cleaning if fully cleaned. Room was not fully stocked - didn't even have hand soap for washing hands. Also, the front desk closes so id you need anything after ten or so, you won't get it. AND website specifically said hot tub was open but it wasn't... won't recommend and won't be back

Kim P.

Yelp
Shout out to Maddie for amazing customer service when checking in to Basecamp South Lake Tahoe! We quickly learned I booked the wrong Basecamp. Maddie validated its often a common mistake and reassured my slight panic that they had rooms available to switch our reservation over. Maddie would call the other location and resolve the mishap allowing us to start our vacation, check into our room and grab our first beer. The room she booked us in was both welcoming and cozy! Maddie provided exceptional customer service and when that happens these days it is truly worth bragging about! Thank You for your kindness! Kim, Colorado

Yelp
My family and I stayed at Basecamp this past week for the first time. We made a reservation for the Great Indoors room and were really excited to essentially camp indoors. Before we arrived, I read some reviews about the room and was a little concerned that we were going to experience the same dissatisfaction, but when we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by mostly the opposite. The room was definitely outdated - the scenic wallpaper was peeling in the corners, the carpet needed to be redone, the picnic table was very squeaky as well as the floors. I was very happy that our room was on the top floor or we probably would have been woken up all night by people walking around. Also, the shower was soooo tiny and the shower head could not be adjusted for us short people. On the plus side, the bathroom was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. We liked the faux fire and tent with camping lanterns. It was very quiet during the night, but that was probably due to us staying during the week. The heater also worked great - too great that I had to shut it off in the middle of the night. LOL I don't think we would stay here again, as we do have our favorite place in Tahoe, BUT Basecamp is in a great location and I love the courtyard area with bonfires and live music that is next door. It's a quick walk to the casinos and Heavenly. Their prices are pretty reasonable too! Quick tip: the hot tub is closed due to COVID and you have to make a reservation in order to book any of their bonfires near the lobby. There are other bonfires in the courtyard, but those are the ran by the brewery and are first come, first served. Thanks for a pleasant stay Basecamp!

Yelp
Twice I've been here and they are closed when their online hours say open. I've been here in the past and it has been a fun place, but frustrating that their hours are inconsistent and wrongly advertised.

Yelp
Not a fan of this place. Old, run down, old heaters, bare bones rooms. The price doesn't match the accommodations.

Yelp
Very odd place. This is a very rugged/rustic hotel. If you're an outdoorsy/rugged individual, you'll probably find this place interesting. But if you're looking for a nice, comfortable hotel, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Yelp
We had an amazing time at Baseamp Tahoe South over the 4th of July! The hotel staff is super friendly and Cameron even helped us plan our adventures for the week. We loved that the lobby/lounge area is a communal area where other travelers hung out. We got delicious breakfast and coffee from Trail Folk (located in the lobby) both mornings. The courtyard where South Of North Brewing is is so much fun. They have corn hole, ping pong and giant jenga along with plenty of seating and fire pits (definitely recommend roasting s'mores at night!!). They have live music most nights and the bands that played the two nights we were there were awesome. The jacuzzi is nice and relaxing too. Our room was a nice size and had the amenities we wanted; fridge, coffee supplies, a desk and a super comfortable bed. It was close to the courtyard and the music didnt bother us. It was quiet at 10 every night which was perfect. Basecamp is close to the lake and trails as well as restaurants and nightlife. One evening we rented Lime scooters and cruised all over town. There are bike rental spots close by too. We also rented kayaks right on Lakeview beach which is walking distance from the hotel and had a nice lake day. Overall, we loved our stay at Basecamp and we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Overall a good stay. The room was really cute and on theme. It was also nice having the brewery and restaurant right outside. Bed was comfy and room was clean. Only cons would be lack of elevator and the smell of urine in the hallway by the stairwell. Not too surprising since there's a brewery but sheesh it was bad the hotter it got. We stored our beach stuff in the car so we wouldn't lug it up and down the stairs. The brewery is available to the public so no need to stay at the hotel to experience it :).
