"A picturesque waterfall and creek in western Massachusetts, the beauty of Bash Bish Falls belies its eerie Mohican legends and hidden dangers. In the southwestern corner of Massachusetts Bash Bish Falls drops 80 feet from its summit to a shallow pool and a creek. At the top of the falls, a view extends into New York State’s Taconic State Park. In trying to attain this view, however, 25 people have died from slips while rock climbing or jumping into a seemingly deep but really shallow pool. Steel cables have been added to various walkways to lessen the dangers, but AOL Travel has named these falls one of the most dangerous travel destinations in the U.S. The falls also have a pair of macabre legends associated with its summit. Bash-Bish, a Mohican woman living in a  village nearby, was accused of adultery by a jealous friend, and was then lashed to a canoe to be sent over the falls despite her pleas of innocence. A ring of butterflies was seen above her head before she went over, and in the aftermath her body was not found. Tragedy would repeat itself when her daughter, White Swan, failed to conceive a child with the village chief’s son before he married a new wife. She threw herself off the falls to her death in her despair. Grim legends and death aside, the falls are a beautiful nature spot. Just try not to kill yourself." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Beautiful views both on the way to the falls and at the falls. The stairs closer by the falls are fenced off to protect the sensitive nature of the falls. We still got beautiful from afar!

9.15.24 Our 1st visit here. Followed gps to the parking area to the trail head. FYI, there's a porta potty there plus closer to the falls. The hike down is easy but very rocky, so be smart and wear hiking boots or sneakers. We actually saw people in flip-flops. Don't be those people. There are lots of photo opportunities as the falls are visible from afar and close by. It's quite beautiful in the fall, but also at any time I'd presume. Free to explore.

A must visit if you are in western MA. A great hike through the woods for a spectacular view like this is worth the trip. Fortunately I was there on a Thursday morning at nine in the morning and I was the only there and it was amazing. The stairs going down to the falls is closed off but you can still get some amazing views.

One of the hidden gens of Massachusetts amazing hike and the best part you start in one state and end on another 😊 There are two ways in from NY and Mass for a shorter path take MA longer route NY both routes are amazing the view is one of a kind. Highly recommended I have done it both winter and summer and is great during both times.

Great find! 3/4 Mile slight incline walk from parking lot (NY side). There are 2 parking lots, one in NY and one in MA… the walk from NY side is along a pleasant stream with several benches for resting. Saw a lot of beautiful Fall Foliage!

Bash Bish Falls is one of the nicest waterfalls in all of Massachusetts. The trail to the falls was quick and easy. I highly recommend visiting Bash Bish Falls in Mount Washington, Mass.

Great place to visit. They have blocked off stairs down to the falls (probably due to the potentially dangerous nature of it) but people go down any way. Not a long walk. Beautiful falls. I found the "No rock stacking sign" amusing! First time I have seen this - guess too much messing around with the natural beauty.

Several trails here the one from the NY parking lot is short and easy. Good for little kids. Very nice view. Good wide trail. 7 month pregnant wife was able to do this without much problem.
