Thai Food 🌶 x1000 🔥

Minneapolis St Paul
View Postcard for Basil Cafe Thai Cuisine

Luv Jones

Google
I've been going here since they opened and there's a reason for it...It's so damn DELICIOUS!! If you read my reviews you know I'm a lover of all Asian cuisine and this place is in my top 3 (easy). Their chicken Wings are so flavorful and juicy 10/10, all their fried rice options hit 9/10 only because this last time I would have liked the shrimp cooked longer, cream cheese wontons are so good, they use a thicker wrap and sweeter cream cheese 10/10, egg rolls are 🔥 10/10 and the pork belly is to die for 20/10! You can tell from the pictures we went on before I remembered to take them. They also have a variety of teas made in house that I get every time so good! I highly recommend you give this spot a try. It's small on the inside but very comfy and the service is always good.

Google
My mom and I had lunch here for the first time recently, and the food was amazing! A bit spicier than my preference (mild). Colorful and cute atmosphere with friendly staff. Definitely will return to try more things in the menu!

Google
Some of the best Thai food I've had. We ordered 4 different dishes to share and they all were great. They can make anything gluten free if requested. Service was great... the kitchen was taking a bit to get the food out and our server brought out complimentary drinks without us saying anything which was a great gesture. The parking lot is small and only holds about 8 cars.

👍Like my review if you found it helpful. Thank you! Thai Basil will take care of all your Thai cuisine cravings. Went here at the beginning of Nov it was pretty busy but it was election night. My wait time was about 30 minutes for pick up. When I got there there was a few parties dining in and plenty of 3rd party delivery orders going out. This place is pretty popular! Glad I splurged for the cheese wontons these were some of the best I’ve had in a long time they were full of cream cheese! and let’s not talk about the shape! The veggie egg rolls hit the spot. For entrees we got the Pad Thai and Basil fried rice with tofu. Both recipes were standard flavors. Proportions allowed for sharing and enough for lunch the next day. This place could easily be a favorite spot. Pros: Good Food, great proportions. Cons: Parking could get tricky during busy times, as this restaurant is on a main stowing no parking the street.

Google
Basil Cafe is an amazing place for Thai Food! Stopped in for dinner and had the best customer service from Kyaw and Xanty. Love the food and yet the customer service was phenomenal. I appreciate the friendliness and how sweet the team there is. Good ups to manager (Owner) Tiffany for having such a great team for her restaurant!

Google
Delicious and fast service. We chatted with another woman who was at the restaurant and she said she eats at the restaurant almost daily for the past week, because the food is great and reasonably priced.

Google
Took my best friend here for her birthday and had a wonderful experience! The food we ordered was so fresh, and the bottled drinks were delicious , will definitely be recommending this restaurant to others to try.

Everything I have tried here has been amazing, my favorite is the fried pork belly. Their bottled teas are also great! Super friendly staff and chill environment

Yelp
Basil Cafe is one of my favorite places to eat! Seriously, the atmosphere transforms you to Thailand. I love the decor, and the attention to detail on everything sets the tone for the food, which is also really good! I also really enjoy the consistency of flavors everytime I come back -- everything always tastes exactly the same. The owner really cares for quality here. Here's some of my favorites. Spring Rolls - you can choose to get chicken or shrimp or a combo of both. They use ground chicken which is easier to bite into than slices. I love the amount of veggies and herbs aee included in the spring rolls. It's a must have for me everytime! Green Curry - OMG this is amazing! The owner makes the paste which makes this so much more herbaceous than other green curries I've had. This is the only place we can get satisfied with green curry! Pad See Ew - I really like that they use Chinese broccoli in here... it makes the dish well rounded. This is one of my favorite stir-fry noodle dishes to get, and she always nails it. Of course, the pad thai is also really good here! Pho, Lao style - This broth is sooo good! Beefy, umami, herby, and so flavorful! This is not your usual Vietnamese pho, so don't get the wrong idea. This one has more oomph to it and the flavors are more intense. The garlic oil adds so much depth to this! Truly a beautiful lao-style dish. Honestly, everything here tastes so good. I feel like I've tried the whole menu already, but seriously, you can really feel the care and love the owner has for this place. The food is always consistently good, and any feedback provided is always looked into carefully and owner always listens.

Yelp
This is a mini review as I only did takeout just for me on way home from work. My favorite takeout place (Thai Cafe) was closed for Holidays so I decided to take a chance on Basil. It did not disappoint! A few things I appreciated: * Easy on-line ordering for takeout * Reasonable prices * On-site parking and easy access to transit * Delicious food! I ordered the drunken Noodles with fresh tofu, one of my standby Thai dishes. I ordered medium spicy, which I thought was fairly mild but I always under order spice when trying somewhere new. I would describe it as above average. There was something a little different O can't quite describe- almost a smoky quality to the spices but I really enjoyed it * Super friendly staff * Beautiful interior. I want to come back and dine inside!

Yelp
Great Thai food! Everything I had was savory and tasty. My friend and I ordered: Fried pork belly with garlic Cream cheese wontons Pad kee mow (Drunken Noodles) Pad Thai Mango sticky rice (pandan) The pork belly was flavorful and went really well with the sauce. The cream cheese wontons were crispy, well filled with cream cheese, and tasty with the tamarind sauce. As for the noodle dishes, the drunken noodle was spicy for a medium (I loved it), and the pad Thai was sweet and spicy too. Lastly, the mango sticky rice was decent. I do wish the mangos were sweeter, but the pandan rice was good. I would definitely recommend Basil Thai, and also come back!

Yelp
Ordered for delivery. F4. Khao Moo Krob (Crispy Pork Rice) Customer Service did a good job of presentation, but Pork Belly was over cooked a bit that made it extra crispy and chewy, otherwise the house-special dipping sauce was delicious! The side of cilantro-chicken broth had a great balance of flavor as well. I've been told the inside of the restaurant is very nice for eat in. Follow me for more reviews and comment what I should try next.
google avatar

Linda V.

Yelp
Friendly customer service, food took a bit longer to receive but they had a steady flow of people coming in and out for takeout pickups. A bit on the sweeter side and a different take than what I'm used to for the dishes but it was still good. Definitely try their tricolor bottled drink, so refreshing. Cute aesthetics from the plants, the Thai skirts turned table cloths, metal water cups to give you a feel like you're not in Minnesota.

Yelp
This is another gem on University Ave in St. Paul. The decor is very inviting. Quaint tables with nice tablecloths welcoming you in to the dining space. The papaya salad was outstanding. The spring rolls were freshly made. I had to request an additional sauce because the springs are a very nice size...enough to share. Service was friendly and attentive.

Krista M.

Yelp
Excellent service - attentive, quick, and accommodating. Incredible food. We ordered multiple items but only one person in our group remembered to take a picture. Khao Moo Krob (Crispy Pork Rice) shown here was delicious. Possibly the best pho broth I've ever tasted. Full, rich flavor that can only be described as comforting. Fried chicken wings were hot and crispy. House-made sauce for spring rolls was delightful - coming from someone who typically steers away from peanut sauces and I couldn't get enough of it! Best drunken noodles in the Twin Cities. Lovely atmosphere - clean and welcoming. Extremely reasonably priced especially for the serving sizes! I will definitely be back!

Perry W.

Yelp
Solid. Their crispy chicken rice dish makes me hot just thinking about it. I had never experienced a true eggroll until I tried to get a deal on an iPhone and after many hours of frustration came upon this cafe next door and had the most satisfying and crunchy eggroll of my entire life. Its simple, its well done, and its always good.
google avatar

Tim R.

Yelp
The red curry, with noodles, was wonderful: The 'mild' spicy level was plenty spicy for my midwestern palate. The Pad Thai was the best I have had in years. The coconut milk drink was pretty good but tasted like store bought stuff and was a bit too sweet.
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
This is our favorite place for Thai takeout - pad see yew and egg rolls are must haves. Everything has been flavorful and it is easy to order and pick up. Try the drinks and desserts too, they're fun and have seasonal options!
google avatar

Tee K.

Yelp
Good food, large serving, quick service, good ambience. Close to my office so convinient to walk
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
I got the fried tofu and pork belly, and it was perfectly crispy and really flavorful. You really can't go wrong with any of the items. It's nice to see Thai options. The drinks are really sweet though. The service and ambiance is very calm. They mostly have take out so you end up in a peaceful atmosphere where you can just enjoy. I always come back.

Yelp
This is one of my all time favorite Thai restaurants!! Since moving to Minneapolis I have been searching for the best Thai food & so far nothing has topped Basil Cafe. I've been multiple times and they never disappoint. I've tried their yellow curry (pictured), pad thai, pad see ew, and curry spring rolls. Their fried tofu is cooked to perfection. The yellow curry is my #1 go-to. Restaurant has a nice atmosphere & the service is always spectacular.
google avatar

Tshiab X.

Yelp
When you enter in, the restaurant is filled with many beautiful plants and decorations. The tables are covered in Thai fabrics and they are sooo beautiful. They give you tin cups for water which really makes you feel like you're in Thailand. Love the tin cups because it keeps my water cold lol. Food is amazing! It's usually hard for me to find good Khao Piak at restaurants but they definitely hit the spot here. I would highly recommend ordering the fried pork with garlic here! Best fried pork here!
google avatar

Susan N.

Yelp
I adore this place. The moment you step inside, you feel welcomed. I enjoyed all the plants and decor they had inside. Yes, they did have a random air freshener spraying somewhere inside that would spritz now and then but it wasn't as bad as another review had made it out to be. I don't love the air freshener but that didn't detract from the food or service. The chicken egg rolls were not bad. They had more flavor than some I've had at typical restaurants but because it's chicken, of course it's a little drier but still quite good compared to what you might find elsewhere. My favorite dish is the fried pork belly with garlic - a must have if you can eat pork. The rice in the crispy chicken and ginger rice is deliciously savory. Everything arrived hot and fresh. The staff were attentive and kind - even somehow scored a free tricolor from them, which was delectable. They got pretty busy towards the end of the Friday night so get there a little earlier if you can, especially as the parking lot is tiny.

Yelp
Ordered takeout last week Pad Thai, Pad -E-San, chicken wings, cream cheese wontons. First I will say the Wontons were probably the best we've ever had. Very good. The egg rolls were also very good but the noodles were not as good as so many other Thai spots in St. Paul. The portions were pretty small for a $14 dish. And the wings were Tiny and overcooked. Not worth the money.
google avatar

Carri M.

Yelp
Everything I've tried from Basil Cafe is excellent! The food is always fresh and hot. The curries have so much flavor, the yellow with tofu is a favorite. Service is always fantastic as well. The staff is friendly and food comes out quickly. The dining room is cozy but there is plenty of seating and tons of beautiful plants. I appreciate that they have a variety of vegetarian/vegan options.
google avatar

Jennifer E.

Yelp
One of the best pad thai's we've had in the twin cities! The spice level is very spot on. There is just the right amount of sauce and a perfect portion for the price point. Very friendly staff and speedy service.
google avatar

Kendal T.

Yelp
I found this place by chance while craving some Thai food. It's a nice and small cafe right by Shuang Hur Supermarket. I ordered the fried pork belly appetizer and drunken noodles. The pork belly was fresh and crispy with a nice sweet and sour sauce on the side. Additionally, the drunken noodles had a nice flavor. Although not too spicy, Basil Cafe also provides complimentary chili flakes and chili oil which adds some heat and depth to the dishes. Very solid service and air conditioning too! Recommended for anyone looking to grab a quick bite!

Yelp
Service was quick, but I thought it was quite rude in a way. I dined in with my grandmother and with elders it's better to have a physical copy of the menu for them to see words and pictures and Basil didn't have this option. Luckily of course I was there to assist but I just think of the elderly who don't have access to do that. anyways We ordered a CHICKEN kapoon dish and questioned if there was any FISH kapoon that day because usually they don't have it. The server advise that there wasn't any in that dish, so we decided to do two chicken KAPOON. I was served mine and then the second was a chicken KAPIAK dish. I told the server that the order was wrong and she advised that she heard me say kaopiak. I mentioned that I asked if they had FISH kapoon, and she said no so we went with CHICKEN... I've never heard of kaopiak made with fish so we were confused, but she brought the dish back. A woman from the kitchen came out and TOLD us, not inform or ask, that for us to correct our order to make sure it was correct because they cannot have order be wrong. I ensured her that we did in fact say Kapoon because we all knew there was no dish of KAOPIAK made with fish... The women sounded really annoyed that it was messed up as well, and reconfirmed our order and asked us to wait another few minutes. We waited and got our second chicken kapoon dish. Noodles were HARD to eat and broth was lukewarm to cold due to the noodles. My grandmother wasn't happy and neither was I so we just paid and left. Kapoon broth was good for the one we had, but sadly the second dish was cold and unable to be eaten. Service is 0/5 food is 1/5 Location is small for parking and the decor is nice though.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for papaya salad, pretty much always an item I order at Thai restaurants. My friend spotted a "platter" for the papaya salad that came with a bunch of goodies, pork rinds, hard boiled eggs, meatballs, wonderfully crispy pork, cabbage, noods...this might be my favorite platter of anything ever. I'm still craving it. Anyways, parking was easy, there's a parking lot to the side of the restaurant. Service was very friendly and efficient. Our server was personable and seemed genuinely nice, like he didn't hate people, which I feel has been rare in my recent customer experiences. If I could change one thing it'd be the 3% fee to pay with credit card. Honestly, I'd rather businesses work those fees into the food prices. I'd rather be ignorant that these types of fees are passed on to customers than have it noted separately, that's just me. Otherwise, I enjoyed my meal and will be back to try more dishes.

Yelp
We were visiting and this place was recommended to us. This place authentic and delicious! Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Thai Basil has become our favorite place for Drunken Noodles. People are so friendly, food so good. A great suggestion to Loree's cousin from Leigh.
google avatar

Yelp
Such flavorful Pad Thai! Definitely tastes expertly prepared! The dish reminds me of the preparation from a high-end place in the cities! Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Really good food. Delicious. Addicted to them. Super quiet restaurant. Ambiance is nice. Service was quick and friendly.
google avatar

Molly L.

Yelp
The pho is amazing here and I also really enjoyed the egg rolls. The service is amazing. The place is clean and inviting.

Brett J.

Yelp
Excellent green curry. The service was good, it was not very busy. The pad thai was the best I have had in years. The spice level escalates quickly so get a 1 or 2 out of 5 for spice level unless you have massive tolerance.
google avatar

Yelp
a lotus in the pond of the muddy capital city.... Wonderful solo lunch experience for me! I loved they Pad Ka Pad (Stir-Fried Basil) with pork. Very flavorful! I ordered it with medium spice, well-because I'm a Midwesterner. Glad I only went to medium-it was kicking GOOD! I'm glad I tried their bottle of Lychee Peach tea-it was perfect-not too sweet but peachy good! Parking is available on both sides of the building, as well as behind the restaurant-just look for their signs. Lots of "to-go" business here, so I would skip parking right by the front door.
google avatar

Eva D.

Yelp
Fragrant, flavorful and damn delicious! First time trying this place and had such great expectations as the cooking smelled like heaven! We tried the fried tofu in basil sauce, a red curry, the fried haianese chicken and the khan phoon. The fried tofu was crispy, pillow bites of goodness...and was my personal favorite. My husband's favorite was the red curry...perfectly seasoned with yummy vegetables. The fried chicken was delish, and served with a side of broth. The khao phoon was delish as well...slightly sweet, slightly spicy and wonderful. We capped our meal with mango and sticky rice. Omg, just pure goodness. Mango is perfectly ripened and the coconut cream sauce was perfect! It's green as it is pandan...yum! If you haven't already, give it a try!

Yelp
Don't know why we didn't come here more often. Visited the place before the pandemic and only now we made it back to enjoy their great food? What was I thinking! Food is excellent, the girls who took our order and served us are nice and they have ample of parking space next to the building. Had chicken rice, crispy pork belly rice and Pad See Ew along with a bottle of Thai tea and a bottle of Thai Coffee
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
Come here for delicious, authentic Thai food. You can dine in- ambience is so so. The reason to come is for the flavors! Spice levels are authentic- ask for mild if you don't like spice. Make sure to try a curry, a stir fry (with Thai basil), and a noodle dish. Papaya salad is sweet and spicy. Yum!
google avatar

Mary Y.

Yelp
Decided to try it out again. It is not a disappoint. All the food tasted delicious. The basil fried rice was really good. It had a lot of veggies and the flavor was really savory. The beef jerky was really good, it is a must get for a light appetite , the chicken wing has good dry seasoning, however it was just more cook (the outside look burnt, but still taste good). The pad pra kao was good, i just think it was a little too much on the sweet side and because I'm a meaty person, there wasnt a lot of meat as i thought it would be. Overall, the experience was good, the service was good and my niece enjoy it!

Jeane T.

Yelp
My mother has been going here for 5 years but this was my first time. Tiffany, the owner/server, was so attentive to our questions and gave us beyond what we wanted! The green curry vegetable was normally spicy but I asked her if they could tone it down for me and it was perfection! My mother asked Tiffany to surprise her and indeed she did! Crispy chicken and rice was so delicious and crispy! I wish I had gone here sooner because I visit at least 2x a year. I will definitely be back later on this year and this will be my go to spot! The atmosphere is quaint and authentically Thai. There is ample free parking and it is accessible by train and bus. Thank you Tiffany for your suggestions and delectable dishes!!!

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent service! I have trouble finding a Yellow Curry in my neighborhood of NE Minneapolis, but I'm happy to see Basil Cafe has one! To be honest, the carrot chunks seemed a little too large for my liking, but that was the only downside. Ordered medium spice and definitely tasted it which is appreciated. The service was exceptional - our waitress was really kind and attentive. She was working her butt off too with all the tables and takeout orders! I'll certainly be back.

A D.

Yelp
First time and the food was delicious! We loved the house-made milks. Ordered "mild" which was more like "medium" by most MN restaurant standards.

Yelp
Myself and my fiancé are from Northern Minnesota and were there in July of last year. There were a couple of minor issues with our visit that day, but the food was delightful. Our server suggested that the manager may want to speak with me in regard to our experience, given the nature of the issues that occurred, so I left my business card and honestly forgot about it, as it wasn't that big of a deal to me. Some time later I received a letter at my office from the manager (I found out later that she's actually the owner.) She sent me a check to refund the cost of our meal, along with a very nice note of explanation and apology. The refund was way above and beyond what was necessary or expected. She took full responsibility for the issues that we had experienced at her establishment that day in July. She also asked for another opportunity to serve us the next time that we were in the area. This was a very classy (but unexpected) response to what I would consider to be something that wasn't that big of a deal to me, but it clearly was to her. Given the high standards that she clearly demonstrated for her establishment, there was no doubt that I would honor her request for a second opportunity. This last Saturday we were finally in town again and were able to visit the Basil Café for a second time. We had an absolutely delightful experience in every regard! After our meal, I asked the pleasant young lady that was checking on us if the manager happened to be in on a Saturday. Well, that turned out to be her! Her name is Tiffany, and she is the owner of the Basil Café. I introduced myself to her and she not only remembered the letter that she had sent and the small issues that occurred on our previous visit, but she also remembered my full name from memory!!! We had a very nice conversation and she sent us home with some extra spring rolls that we enjoyed at home later that evening. Tiffany, I also run a business, and the way that you treated us and handled that situation is an impressive lesson in customer service and leadership. You didn't just recover us as customers, you created 2 raving fans of your business through your actions and demeanor along with your wonderful cuisine. You easily could have brushed off the initial experience that we had last year. And, while we weren't upset about it, we likely wouldn't have thought to ever return to your establishment if you had. Instead, you held yourself and your wonderful restaurant to a higher standard, and you made 2 raving fans that will return again and again and will recommend your establishment at every opportunity. Tiffany, thank you for a wonderful dining experience and thank you for a refreshing attitude and demonstration of personal responsibility that you so impressively gave. That level of service and attention to detail is rare in our world today. BTW, the Drunken Noodles are delicious and so are the Spring rolls. We will see you again soon. - Jake & E.

Yelp
A lovely restaurant. We had spring rolls and green curry with chicken, medium hot. Very tasty. Pleasant staff. There is a parking lot on the east side of the building. I'll be back!

Michael T.

Yelp
I'm not sure why it took me so long to discover this unusually fresh, welcoming, compellingly delicious café. They have a delightfully simple and unusually tasty approach to Thai food. I am about halfway through the menu and so far there has not been a single disappointment.
google avatar

Tatum S.

Yelp
Small and cold egg rolls and with burnt ends. Red curry lacked in flavor and too sweet. Sticky rice is over cooked. High prices but low quality food. Not going back.

Yelp
A friend and I decided to check out this place for a late lunch on a weekday and we both thought it was pretty good. We had the chicken spring rolls, chicken egg rolls, chicken pad Thai and Thai iced coffee. We also got rice cakes to go. Everything was good but I think I liked the spring rolls and Thai iced coffee the most. I ordered my pad Thai spicy which could have been more savory and sour and although I ordered spicy, it wasn't spicy at all- I do appreciate them having condiments on the table so I could make it more spicy or savory on my own. The egg rolls was good but could use more meat for my preference. The service was okay- our waitress was a bit quiet and shy but still nice. I appreciate the goodies in the front- the rice cakes with palm sugar was so good! Overall- I didn't think it was too special but I liked it and would be back! Next time I would try the Thai iced tea and curry.

Yelp
Visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon. This place is so cute with all of its decor (especially love the table cloths and plants). Since it was not busy at all, we got to choose our table and the wait for our food wasn't too long. Everything came out fresh and hot! My favorite has to be the Kao Piak Sen (combo) and the pork belly with ginger! My mom enjoyed the green tea and Khao Mun Gai. I also tried a little bit of the Khao Mun Gai and thought it was good too! The only thing I didn't really like were the eggrolls--specifically the mushy egg roll filling, but I did enjoy how crispy the egg roll wrappers were! The egg rolls also had a sweet taste to it--I didn't mind it, but I'm used to egg rolls being more on the savory side (unless dipped into a sweet sauce on the side). The staff was great and very nice! They greeted us when we entered and after we got our food, they checked in to ask if we were enjoying the food. Overall, this place is great and I will visit in the future when I have another craving for Khao Piak!

Brenda B.

Yelp
This was, by far, our best Thai restaurant experience! The food was exceptional! We started with wantons, egg and spring rolls and then had the red curry (pork and tofu), pad Thai, pork fried rice, yellow curry, and 3 of their specialty dishes for the main course. All ranted about their selections. Most of us got mild to medium heat but one brave soul asked for it native Thai. He needed extra napkins to mop up the sweat rolling down his face. The staff were very sweet. We'll be back!

Percy T.

Yelp
This is a great little place - they have good food, friendly staff and owner, and a clean and welcoming dining area. With very easy access - designated parking and right at a light rail stop - you have no excuse not to try it! Today was our fourth visit, and we have liked every meal we've ordered.

Yelp
I went here during lunch to order takeout. Everything was pretty fast. I just got pad sew yew and Thai tea with milk. It took about 10 minutes. They also have their own parking lot which is convenient The noodles were pretty tasty and you get quite a lot for 8.99 I believe. The Thai tea was kind of sour and too sweet so it was not my favorite. Prices are good and it's nice and worth a try.

Yelp
There are many restaurants on University Avenue for Thai food. Among them, I would highly recommend in no particular order Thai Cafe, Thai Garden, and Basil Cafe. The beautiful thing about being spoiled with Thai restaurants are the specialties each offers. What one might have, the other doesn't. For Basil Cafe, I highly recommend the following entrees: a) Khao Mun Gai Taut b) Khao Poon c) Khao Piak Sen d) Panang Curry e) Pad Isan I love their array of drinks. So many to choose from. Definitely get the following: 1) Green Milk Drink 2) Pink Milk Drink 3) Lychee-Peach Green Tea They have more but all are house made. They are all also bottled up so you have your pick of the litter. And if you're in a rush, it's easy to pick up and go. Ambience: Intimate. Plethora of natural lighting which stream in through its large windows with dark wood floors and well spaced tables. Spacious lobby area. Parking: Small parking lot on the side. Just maneuver with caution if you're coming in a larger sized SUV (Suburban/Tahoe) or truck. You will want to slow down or you'll miss the turn completely. Pre-pandemic, it was both dine-in and takeout. It was limited dine-in as the restrictions were eased. I recommend making reservations ahead of time.

Yelp
Went in on a friday afternoon. Made reservations (must be made before allowed dine in during pandemic period) for 4:20, but arrived at 4:15. Table was already set with menu and water. Ordered the crispy pork belly with garlic (3.5/5). It was good but it was more bacon looking than pork belly looking. Also ordered the tofu puffs (4/5). Tofu was coated nicely and evenly. Inside of tofu was nice and medium firm. Would be nice if there were a bit more flavor to the coating. Ordered the cucumber salad platter (4/5). All the sides that came along with it, compliment it very well but the papaya itself was a bit bland. Ordered the stir fry basil with chicken (5/5). The flavors were there, and the veggies had a nice crisp to it. And finally to wash it all down, had one of their green thai tea and milk drink (3.5/5). It was a yummy drink however it was too sweet for my taste. Overall, the place was clean, environment was calm, I would dine in or take out again. Parking is a bit tight though.

Yelp
Were craving some real good food and heard that they had khao piak sein. The asian (thai/lao) version of chicken noodle soup. So, we stopped in when they opened on a Sunday morning. It wasn't too busy yet and they were just getting going. They did ask us if we had reservations, which we didn't. They've gotten really busy lately so try to make reservations if you can. They were nice enough to accomodate us so that was pretty awesome. I wouldn't have to wait until I was back in town. The staff is nice and doing the best they can given the current situation and such. The tables were spread out, especially with how they were seating people. The decor is simple, but nice and not like the "typical" asian restaurant. They were short a chef, who came later, but also...have some patience. Like I said, the staff was nice. Service was good given the situation. The food: Papaya Salad - delicious and comes at various spice levels, super fresh Khao Poon (chicken) - delicious, big portion size, other protein option is fish Pho (Lao-style aka Vietnmese) - great broth, good portion size, tons of meat, other style is thai (aka boat noodles) Coconut Sticky Rice & Mango - delicious, the mangos were perfect and the rice was good Thai Ice Tea - delicious and comes in four sizes, pre-made and bottled. After getting the check and going up to the counter to pay, the server thanked us for our patience. It was a super nice touch. TLDR: Make reservations. Definitely check them out. All of the food is delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more food.

Yelp
A new Nice Thai Restaurant with a young owner, I love that ba wise they have this cute place with really nice presentation in their food, they are really nice and the restaurant looks fresh with their decoration and style. The food was great, great prices, portion and taste. My wife didn't really like to the max the fried chicken but still good, it maybe just need something else to make it perfect. I had a soup which was really yummy actually that was my first time trying the soup, you can see it in my photos. I did have also the traditional Thai tea and I have to say This is the BEST in TWIN CITIES, oooh yeah the flavor is great. Hope Basil Thai stays for ever, also to introduce new dishes will be nice. Keep cooking and making people happy....!!!!
