It is very simple, but it has a certain charm and I loved the contrast against the overly decorated, gold-plated churches you normally see in Italy. It felt very spiritual, is fascinating in its ancient history and has a beautifully minimalist interior.

A church of the 6th century built on ancient ruins and a necropolis. Small site but worth the visits. San Saturnino is the patron saint of Cagliari

The Basilica of San Saturnino dates back to the 6th century AD, but according to the experts it probably still existed in the 5th century. Saturnino would have been beheaded in 304 because he didn't deny his Christian faith. San Saturnino is also the patron Saint of Cagliari.
