A beautiful basilica that you are able to tour as well as participate in Mass. The architecture stand alone is a sight to see. The grounds are immaculate and it demonstrate people here take care of their cultural heritage. Not only are you able to tour the basilica and view the city from the top of the bell towers, you can also participate in Mass. Many religious artifacts are present here. I noticed a statue of baby Jesus and what seemed to be an image of Pope John Paul II blessing the artifact. Much culture to experience here.

Beautiful church. Very well decorated. Wonderful ceilings and sculpture. This is well maintained and clean with a nice nativity scene. There is also the little baby Jesus blessed by the Pope. We recommend to spend 30 minutes in this church.

Not as rich and fancy as other basilicas but from the outside it does look beautiful. Also, some stuff inside look a little creepy and scary. Seems like they didn't have enough budget to create something better

Stunning building with impressive architecture, beautifully lit at nigth. And, open to allow visitors to the inside (free entry).

The visit worth every penny... The tour, the explanations, the passion explaining every single detail and the empathy, the smile….. Jazmín was the best guide!!! You will explore the whole Basilica, from the architecture, their story; to the Franciscan order and their influence, work and help with the aborigines. You will learn about architecture, history, Franciscan philosophy, aborigines, and more. And also you can buy gifts made from the order.

I enjoyed the tour of the basilica museum . Although I don’t speak much Spanish the tour guides did a wonderful job including me with some description in English and many plaques had info in English too. A highlight are the frescos in the cloister and the trip up the bell tower. The basilica is really beautiful and if you can go to a service the music (on guitar, mandolins, violin and 3 part harmonies ) is wonderful. There is a courtyard restaurant next door ( patio de San Francisco ) with excellent food .

Unforgettable experience listening to a well explained description about the church history and its ornaments. Beautiful church and surroundings

Yelp
Some might say that Basilica Menor y Convento San Francisco is the signature church in Salta, rather than the nearby Catedral Basilica de Salta. Take my advice and visit both. What immediately grabs you from the street are the white pillars and terra-cottaa and gold facade. The Church within is also stunning, and in the usual peaceful holy way. There's also a museum located in the Convent area that we didn't visit for shortness of time.
