"With its turquoise waters, limestone cliffs, olive groves, and many an old masseria (farmhouse), Puglia—the provincial heel of the boot—is the polar opposite of Italy’s fast-paced fashion capital. And lately, it’s become something of a hotspot between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. The region has played muse to artists including the Italian photographer Massimo Vitali, who famously captured the leisurely beach scenes from Polignano a Mare to Torre Pali. More recently, the Milan-born sculptor Edoardo Tresoldi “resurrected” the bones of an ancient basilica that was once located in the Archaeological Park of Siponto (it was abandoned after earthquakes ca. 1255). His monumental (and permanent) installation, Basilica di Siponto, was constructed entirely from wire mesh—a contemporary counterpoint to the remaining Romanesque church."

The modern structure that is supposed to show how the place looked on the past looks impressive in the pictures. The site is very well kept and the entrance portal of the basilica is truly stupendous. it is possible to make a very suggestive visit. The view from the street is very impressive! It's a shame. The sunset light transforms it into a dream. You can visit the metal structure, the church and the archaeological park. The place is beautiful and absolutely worth the visit.

Beside the castle and beautiful beaches, this church should be a non-missing destination when visiting Manfredonia. I don't know how old it is, but it's been standing there for millennium years and still stays remaining

Amazing church dating from the first centuries of the second millennium. Beautiful remains of the mosaic star dating back to IV-th and V-th centuries.

We arrived at 17:13 and they told us that the ticket shop was closed, while the sight was supposed to close at 18:00! The sad thing and the reason of the 1*, is to wake up the responsible person who has to update the timetable,as in Google maps and several sites write that the Church is supposed to be open until 19:00! You discover the correct time in an almost hidden sign outside the gate of the church!🤦

The place is supposed to be lit in a special way. The modern structure that is supposed to show how the place looked on the past looks impressive in the pictures. However when we arrived (mid April) it turned out that it is only open in the evening on the first weekend of every month (until 9 pm). Maybe in the summer it is open more.

The way they provided an understanding of how the building was in the past while at the same time preserving the archeological site is just fantastic and gives to visitors of different backgrounds the best possible experience of the site
