An 8-day Sailing Trip to This Part of the Caribbean Became My Family's Most Adventurous Trip Yet

"Basil's Bar, Mustique On the ultra-exclusive island of Mustique, Basil’s Bar is a stargazer’s paradise—and not just at night. It’s a favorite of celebrities, meaning you never know just who will be seated at the next table. A series of roofs cover the open-air deck to shade diners from the hot sun and occasional shower as they enjoy tropical cocktails and freshly grilled lobster. Come for the dance party on Wednesday, the happy hour on Thursday, or the sunset jazz every Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Basil’s also hosts the Mustique Blues Festival at the end of January, with live music each night for two straight weeks."

"Find everything from candles and straw hats to t-shirts and fine resort wear at Basil’s Bazaar, a tiny boutique adjacent to the famous bar itself. Most of the goods are branded with “Basil’s Mustique” in one way or another, so everyone is sure to know where you’ve been—but that’s the point, right?"

Wow, what a place. Great ambience, fantastic atmosphere and the food we had was really good. A lot of people mention cost, for our party of 4 it worked out at $&€100 / £75 a head. For that we got as much food and drink as we could consume, plus live music and the special setting. To my mind that was ok and certainly not outrageous. Why have I only given 4 stars. On arrival they had lost our reservation, it took 20 minutes to confirm we had actually made a booking and a table had been set for us. Some of the serving staff were wonderful, but others were not so good. However overall a brilliant evening.

We stopped in Mustique as part of the Fantasea Tour that also included Bequia. It was raining and Basil’s Bar was the stop for a refreshment. After which time, I did some souvenir shopping. The spot is legendary and one can see why. Even though I did not eat anything there, you could feel the vibe and imagine what it would be like when night time fell. There is also an attached souvenir shopping (all about Basil’s Bar). If you need something that says Mustique, you will have to venture a small walking distance away. And as you would expect, the prices for souvenirs, or any thing else are through the roof.

Live music, great cocktails, good food. Not cheap, but well, it's Mustique. Great anchorage in front of the bar and plenty of celebrities around. Definitely worth a stop.

We had the most epic time here. We came in on a yacht and stayed on a mooring ball right in front of the restaurant so we had both lunch and dinner there. There are a great variety of healthy options in small portions. Excellent cocktails. Pricey Whispering Angel at $80. Perfect atmosphere with something going on every night. We arrived on a Friday and they had a DJ playing from 9:30pm until after hours. Everyone dancing with their shoes off. You never know who you might bump elbows with. Keep your eyes peeled but you’re bound to see a familiar face. The service is relaxed but also on point. This was a highlight to our trip!

Lovely beach near a lovely bar. My son and I spent half the day enjoying drinks, food and the water! There is also a little shop and supermarket with fresh fruits sold on the beach!

Well what's not to like, an iconic bar at an iconic location. We went for a party and it did not disappoint, The food was a buffet and very well done . The sundowners did the trick and the sun went down . It was all just fab!
